With so many games hitting the Nintendo Switch eShop each week, regular sales have become a welcome fixture on the Switch and there are huge numbers of cheap and discounted games available on the Switch eShop at any given time. With so much choice, though, it can be tough to know where to start and exactly what is worth your hard-earned cash and precious time.

Never fear - Nintendo Life is here to help you sort the wheat from the chaff! Here we will choose our Top 5 cheap Switch games in the Switch eShop sales so you can be sure you're getting a great deal on a great game.

What do we mean by 'best cheap Switch games' exactly? We're thinking anything discounted to around £10/10€ or under (obviously GBP and Euro prices will differ and sometimes won't reflect the same percentage discount). In addition to the top 5 best cheap Switch games, we'll also highlight any ridiculously cheap eShop games (we're talking Switch games under a quid) which may be worth investigating for a few pennies, if only for a half hour or so.

We'll update this page with new games and deals as and when they cycle in and out, so keep an eye on it. If you live in the US (or have a US Nintendo Account), you might want to check out our equivalent article on the best cheap games on the US eShop.

So, let's have a look at the five best deals on the Switch eShop!

The Best Cheap Games On The Nintendo Switch eShop

Here's our pick of the top 5 best deals for cheap games on the Switch eShop right now:

Rayman Legends: Definitive Edition (Switch)

Rayman Legends: Definitive Edition (Switch)Rayman Legends: Definitive Edition (Switch)

75% off - was £29.99 / 39,99€, now £7.49 / 9,99€ until 24th Feb 2020

Despite its ‘Definitive Edition’ moniker, the vast majority of what you get in the Switch version of Rayman Legends has been seen in every other edition. The only truly new features here are a complete character roster for the first time and a tournament mode for its football mini-game. Assuming you don't own the game on another system, though, Rayman Legends is one of the best plumber-free platformers ever made, and an essential addition to your platforming library at this price.

Death Squared (Switch eShop)Death Squared (Switch eShop)
Publisher: SMG Studios / Developer: SMG Studios
Release Date: 13th Jul 2017 (USA) / 13th Jul 2017 (UK/EU)

88%(+) off - was £11.99 / 12,50€, now £1.49 / 1,49€ until 23rd Feb 2020

While we’ve seen plenty of games that have similar themes and mechanics, the way they’re presented in Death Squared makes for a rare experience. Having a game that is cooperative at its core but imminently playable as a solo experience is a boon, but it must be said its wily charms are exponentially more effective when sitting next to a friend or loved one whilst you giggle at each other’s faux pas. If you want your puzzlers to be thought-provoking with a dash of dry humour, you can’t go wrong with Death Squared.

Crypt of the NecroDancer (Switch eShop)

Publisher: Brace Yourself Games / Developer: Brace Yourself Games
Release Date: 1st Feb 2018 (USA) / 8th Feb 2018 (UK/EU)

80% off - was £17.99 / 19,99€, now £3.59 / 3,99€ until 2nd Mar 2020

A roguelike at heart with a rhythm-game soul, Crypt Of The NecroDancer is a sublime experience that’s a must-play for fans of the genre(s). Its upbeat, uptempo take on dungeon crawling is infectious, and there’s enough content here to last even the savviest of spelunkers for many, many dance-fuelled dives into the depths — if you’ve never tangoed with the NecroDancer, this fully-featured Switch edition is the perfect way to jump in. For anybody who never played this but loved the Zelda spin-off Cadence of Hyrule (and was left wanting more), what are you waiting for?

Moonlighter (Switch)

Moonlighter (Switch)Moonlighter (Switch)
Publisher: 11 Bit Studios / Developer: Digital Sun
Release Date: 5th Nov 2018 (USA) / 9th Nov 2018 (UK/EU)

60% off - was £22.49 / 24,99€, now £8.99 / 9,99€ until 1st Mar 2020

If you want to play a top-down Legend of Zelda game as a rogue-lite while also taking shifts as a shopkeeper then, hey, Moonlighter is about to scratch a distinctive itch for you. It hits a sweet spot somewhere between satisfying swordplay and nitty-gritty economic sim, although some players may feel it gets ‘grindy’ after a while in its mechanics. Nonetheless, Digital Sun Games has produced a lush work it can be proud of; one that even touches on our humanity in an optimistic way.

And with the growing trend of games plummeting to mere pennies, here's our sub-£1 pick for a super cheap game that's worth the memory space it takes up on your Switch...
