@wutadam almost positive this has been possible in every mario kart that has a vs mode (64 and onward). I used to play VS mode by myself a lot when traveling with Mario Kart DS, just so I could play a lot of courses in a row without doing grand prix.
(Edit: nevermind I see what you're saying now. I must have misread the update. No NPC single player is a strange addition but presumably it's to practice the intercourses.)
Update: I just recieved my Genki Sleeper case yesterday and the zipper has already threaded wrong. I had to pry it open to get to my console and the entire case is busted now. Nobody will ever see this comment but this case is trash.
I used to play exclusively with the Wii Wheel! Crazy to think, giving I grew up on SNES and Kart 64. Nowadays, I think these would be most fun for a night of drinking and karting. I'll consider it, for the nostalgia.
I think I might check it out and AC Shadows because I am so intrigued to see current gen games on Switch 2. If anything I expect it to be just fine, and I've heard some actually quite like it since it's the first truly open world Star Wars game.
Viewfinder is a super cool puzzler, one of the coolest ideas I've seen since Portal or Superliminal so this is exciting to hear! I already own it on PS5 so I may not double dip but still great more people get to try it!
I was about to go off in the comments for Mark of the Ninja being called "the best stealth game money can buy on the eShop," when almost the entire Metal Gear Solid series is right there in front of you, but.... No, you know what? I'm still going to! How dare you call mark of the ninja the best stealth game on the eShop?? Jk luv ya 💕
@The_Nintend_Pedant Perfect example. My sister and I had our childhoods defined by Secret of mana on ZSNES, and we made it a ritual to play every day until we finished. We emulated Trials on our Wii together too. Without it, we never would have become fans of the Mana series, going on to buy Children of Mana for DS, Trials and Collection. It would just be that game everyone talks about on the SNES, we wouldn't have played it together because we moved out to college by the time collection released. We would never have been fans of the series. Take that multiplied by the many people who also emulated and loved it. That's a lot of missed exposure.
Back when Gameboy Advance games were coming out I pirated so many GBA games on VisualBoyAdvance, I was a kid though and I didn't really beg my parents for games outside of birthdays and holidays. When I was 14 and had expendable income I bought the same games I never would have known about if not for emulation. It was like playing a demo. I think emulation is great for kids who want to get more into the history of games, it's great for people who need to feed a family but also want to game after the kids go to bed. It's great for the impoverished who want some form of escapism. I'm just in a position where I am lucky enough to be able to purchase more games than I could ever play, but I don't judge people for taking the other route. It literally affects me none.
I have been having trouble justifying the use of the programmable back-buttons on the Pro 2 (if I pick up the controller I always accidentally press it) but I recently started playing Quake and they now allow me to switch weapons without taking my hand off the camera controls. Very nice indeed.
@the_beaver these are ALL games I have been wanting to play but will hold off on just in case. I will never forget the times I gave up and bought a game for PS5 only to have it release on Switch soon after.
@Ryu_Niiyama Off topic but I am playing Death Stranding 2 right now and It is actually wonderful. Yes Kojima pays homage to movies, he and his mother bonded around films. I think it's cute seeing western film ideas with japanese influence.
This makes sense, as art is intended to be enjoyed in whatever way the consumer likes, not micromanaged by its creator. If he viewed games as art, perhaps we'd be able to play 3 lap courses in Mario Kart if we wanted.
Dave the Drivel. Sorry, I just dislike this game so much. I am disappointed it's one of the first third party upgrades. Way better contenders out there.
If I remember correctly, the black-and-white co-op cute-em-up Blanc was a bit of a troublesome play on Switch 1. Would be lovely to see that game in action on the S2.
Dying Light was soooo good back when I played it on PS4. It improved everything I was disappointed with in Dead Island. Highly recommend anyone interested check out the Switch port. It went on sale for like 10 bucks at one point.
I don't know what exactly this patent has that is different from existing ray-tracing but I will say I've loved the ray-tracing that other games on PS5 have demonstrated. I played FNAF: Security Breach recently and seeing gregory's reflection wrap around the metal walls was really something.
Control also looked gorgeous but I want to play that as much as I want to suck on a cat-pish-soaked sock
This is horrendous. Absolutely shameless... Leave the art to the humans, come on man. I wasn't going to buy this but now I'm going to not buy it even harder.
I think there are more humane ways to use AI, for sure. It should be used to cut out the boring or tedious parts out of human work. It should not be used to remove the fun parts like I've been seeing it used. And it ABSOLUTELY should not be used in a way which deprives someone of their job. If AI can be used to ensure the same workers don't have to work 100-hour days to make the next big game, fine.
I'm so excited, definitely picking up this game when I can. The first one dropped in my lap at just the right time, and I'm not sure today will be the same, but I'm excited regardless.
@NFrealinkling I'm aware but I'm legit going to buy another set someday, and that doesn't feel like a valid reason to block people out of an optional feature
Oh, is it true that there's no local multiplayer? That's sad. I was thinking this may be a fun game to play every so often with friends like how I sometimes bust out Snipperclips. Now I'm not so sure. It's a maybe from me.
I'm enjoying the slow trickle right now, it's almost nostalgic, reminiscent of seeing "I am Setsuna" every day and then being surprised by a sudden "Snake Pass" appearance or something. I might even feel a little sad when we start seeing floods of ecchi games drowning out the solid titles (maybe they won't recieve dev kits? One can only hope)
They provide mostly valid points. Personally I either haven't the eyes to notice the blurring or maybe I haven't seen it in action yet. The screen looks solid to me, even coming fresh off the OLED. They are right about the larger screen feeling more immersive. I played MKWorld while at an outdoor city band concert and I almost forgot where I was because I was so absorbed in free roam.
I can't wait until the (capital G) gamers have moved on from Switch 2 drama and move their attention to the next lootbox or live-service drama. I'm already so tired of hearing the $80 game drama and "$450 for something that isn't as powerful as a PS5" talking points. The PS5 came out during tough economic times too but people didn't project politics onto you for making a purchase. I just want to play my "bing bing wahoo" games.
I had no problem with digital-only games on Switch 1. In fact, most of my games were purchased digitally. However, for the games I want to keep forever it's really nice to have a cart option that is timeproof. I shudder to think of how expensive Silent Hill 2 PS2 disks are now, but imagine you paid all that and only realize later the game doesn't exist in that form anymore.
Kit just posted a youtube short correcting the headline of this article. Apparently it was a surprise to him that he was an "executive" lmao it may feel wrong to call them "former Nintendo employees" because that doesn't feel very official, but it is accurate.
I love the 22 confused soldiers out here buying a brand new PS4. Come home, Richard! The console war is over! You can buy a refurbished one on the cheap now!
One game I found issues with is Deadly Premonition. It plays mostly fine, but these geniuses tied the car's speed to the framerate. Now that the framerate is tripled, the car moves at 3x speed. You can play the whole game, but it really takes you out of it. Glad I kept my OG Switch.

Re: Sony Job Listing Suggests More PS5 Games Could Get A Nintendo Release
@Slowie True, all three are on PS4 they should work fine on Switch 2.
I was jabbing specifically at PS5 exclusives which as far as I know can still be counted on my fingers and toes.
Re: Sony Job Listing Suggests More PS5 Games Could Get A Nintendo Release
Awesome, now Sony can finally bring their amazing PS5 exclusives, like Astro Bot! And... uhhhh.... uhm..... Theeeee Meeediiiiiummmmm?
(I love my ps5 but ya gotta admit it's a wasteland over there exclusive-wise.)
Edit: oh my god I forgot Death Stranding 2 is a PS5 timed exclusive-okay it's a wasteland and Death Stranding 2.
