Thanks to Jacob Geller's most recent "backlog" video, I may now be playing "VA-11 HALL-A" around this time of year every christmas or every other christmas. It takes place from december 12-Jan 1st so it could be fun to revisit sometimes. It's the perfect chill atmosphere
Layers of Fear Remake was one of the first games I played on PS5 and it looked awesome, but I'd already played the original and the VR version of the painter's story, so it felt very much like "why am I replaying this?" I think if y'all want to experience this haunted house simulator in its best environment, play it in VR as the idea of jumpscares happening directly to YOU is a decent replacement for a sense of danger to the protagonist. There are some points I was cowering in fear or walking slowly to avoid falling from a large height. Instead of hp damage, you are threatened with psychological damage.
(In before someone comes here to say this game "is not my cup of tea" 😉)
Oh my goodness, I saw this at The Game Awards. I'm not big into soc- ahem I'm not big into footie but I am HUGE into short games with heart and lovely art styles. Definitely giving it a shot
@mlt @SpecialT I believe a "Dad game" is a game about an adult man taking care of a young kid throughout the course of a game. Dad of War, Heavy Rain, The Dad of Us, Bioshock Infinite, The Walking Dad. All games about older guy dad-ing a young person.
My partner is going to love this. I bought Resident Evil 4 for them and now their Tiktok is littered with Leon thirst traps 🫠Highkey I get it. We both screamed when we saw him in the trailer
Please be good so we can see RE-style remakes of the other games. I just can't play the old ones and I've tried but I want to cross this series off my bucket list
My favorite instruction manual in recent times belongs to Ittle Dew 2, and it even serves a gameplay purpose as you need hints hidden throughout the manual to help you get the true ending. Kinda reminds me of Metal Gear Solid.
I ADORED Blood as a kid! The interactivity was the best I'd seen in any DOOM clone back when I was playing a lot of abandonware. The areas all LOOKED like something, which I loved and still love better than DOOM. I'm also intrigued by Carmageddon and that retro bug FPS, but I'll be flocking to Blood as soon as possible.
@FullMetalWesker Totally skipped that part when i read it all sleepy-eyed lmao. Tbh tho I'd agree with your analysis. Tomb raiders 1-3 kinda haven't aged all that well imo. Frustrating controls and annoying jumps you have to make with them kinda ruined them for me. Tomb Raider 2013 was quite good even back on PS3.
@Elektrogeist1287 It is a walking simulator. Good for people who like walking sims, but you can do much better in the same genre with things like Edith Finch or Tacoma.
I played it when it came to PS5. It was a solid update of those games, but it made me realize I didn't really have much passion for these games. They were a fun "haunted house simulator" but not much more. Still worth playing once I'd say if you like walking simulators and horror.
Yayy! My partner walked in while I was playing this and told me to pause on it until we could play it together, then Switch 2 came out and we never got around to playing it. Thanks for letting us know!
@MrCarlos46 Whoops! It was actually port specialist Shiver Entertainment, who ported Mortal Kombat 1 and Hogwarts to Switch who were acquired. Panic Button did DOOM/Eternal Thanks for the correction!
I highly doubt she's gonna run into Leon or Claire or anything. It's probably just gonna be an RCPD cop or something. Of course, the big characters often end up coming back even when we least expect it, like in the end of RE7
That's sad, I would hope the rest of the park has enough to do for people with accessibility issues to entertain themselves the whole trip. This wouldn't be an issue in a large park where there's plenty more to do, but if it's literally half the park they can't visit, that's not insignificant
I just wanted to slip in to say GO GIRL! Love to see when the people I look up to (that's you, NL) are allies. Congrats on doing the bare minimum and not being awful people.
No wayyyy I literally JUST bought Split Fiction lmao. Tbh tho the fun that my partner and I will have is well worth the full price of admission so I'll concede.
I love this game on PS5! I was so excited to see it coming to a bigger audience but... not like this. I think this is finally the push I need to go finish the game in an afternoon or something
I loved Mad Max Fury Road, which was an action movie with very little chatter. If Link doesn't talk, I hope this is also treated like an action movie with very little chatter. That would be sick.
@Lady_rosalina Thrillville was awesome. I just brought my old ps2 copy out for a little fun the other day, but the coasters being limited to "this is where you get to build your coaster, and you can't move it" was kind of disappointing. The mini games were incredibly fun though.
It looks... exactly how I imagined. I think I'd prefer genuine areas on this globe than Minecraft Movie-style sets. It works for some movies but this idea and casting feels more fitted to like, a Princess Bride type of adventure
Played this on Switch 1 right after finishing Yakuza 0. Highly recommend it; while I prefer 0 and specifically Goro Majima pre-goofy-arc, I had a blast playing this and it was perfect for gaming on the treadmill, oddly enough.
Wow! It's already here! I made my game purchase this month already as my partner and I want to play Split Fiction, but at least I definitively know what I'm getting next month. Let's FREAKING go.
If y'all want to boycott Game Key Cards but still want to play the game, you can just buy the card secon-hand on eBay for a discount later on. Just an idea, that's what I'm doing - not to send a message, but to save some cash vs digital.
@Potimarron I know someone kinda said this already, but Metroid has always been a huge homage to Alien (chock-full of suggestive architecture). Ridley (Scott), Mother Brain, a female protag, I'm guessing the H.R. Gieger influence leaked into this game quite a bit.
I'm a day one transitioner and I've been surprised how even the mix of games is between the two consoles. I played Yakuza 0, then Kiwami, a bit of Quake every day, Cyberpunk, some Klonoa... it really is as if the two game libraries have come together as one big library. Kinda reminds me of when I got the PS5.
Anyone else notice how Nintendo Life has had more annoying ads since being acquired by IGN? Are we all just the slowly-boiled frog in here? Is anyone else seeing this?

I'd be down to finally play the other two. I bought the second one on PS4 and never got around to it. Perhaps having it on handheld would convince me.
