I just realized I have been a Nintendo fan my whole life, but we had SNES and 64 during the GC era so this will be my first N console with specs up to industry standards. It feels like this may finally be what I thought the Vita would be.

@N00BiSH Judging from the treehouse footage the collectibles are feeling pretty unsubstantial, at least in terms of what I'm looking for. I'll probably like the game but it's not the 3D platformer I'm itching for, y'know? Not that my opinion has to be your opinion that's just how I feel.

@N00BiSH That would be sad. I liked Odyssey and DK:B is gonna be tops but it looks like it's gonna dilute the importance of bananas just as Odyssey did with moons. I hope EPD will someday explore the goal-focused 3D games, I loved 3D World.

I'd have died for a 3d platformer by the DKC TF folks.

When is Cooking Mama getting at least a nomination? That game is massive, you say "Cooking Mama" and it instantly triggers a response in the casual audience like a bunch of sleeper agents.

The tiniest, most important detail is that he said the Switch 2 has been in the works since 2019. If I remember correctly, the rumors of a Switch Pro started 6 years ago which means the Switch 2 has probably been a subject of leaks from the very beginning.

I've decided I'm getting games on eshop at a steep sale and true physical media at full price.
Perhaps I only purchase new games as I play the old ones. I can't afford to lose all the games I haven't touched in the future.

Cool, Jacob Geller talked about this one and I knew I had to get it. Glad to see y'all finally covered it because I didn't see anyone else mention it here.

I think GTA6 is going to have SO MUCH effort put into it, I agree it can't necessarily compete but while I like small details in games, I don't think the main way to value a game is "can I knock over a glass and watch the ice cubes melt in real time?"
It will come down to how much fun I have with the gameplay. In that sense, I'd say GTA5 gave me an amazing experience for 20 hours or so, Mario Kart 8 has given me fun with friends for hundreds of hours between Switch and WiiU.
Both were well worth the price. It's not a competition.

@Diowine Wow, if the rumors are true and Half Life 3 really is playable "end to end," this could be one of the years known as the best in gaming.

I'm currently playing the Deadly Premonition series and loving it, sounds like the natural step up from that is Yakuza so I guess I have my work cut out for me.
Also Solid Snake was one of my massive game crushes for a long time, Hayter is a big "get" for this cast.

@FirMatt What's funny is they said "either wait for a sale or <don't buy it at all.>" So technically, you're still doing what they asked.

@OwenOtter We (my partner and roommate) started walking to the grocery store, which also incentivises fewer purchases. I read my books outside when possible. We also started gardening, and the fulfillment that brings is amazing.
All this to say, you're right about touching grass. Getting some sun is literally lifechanging.

I'm gonna do what I did on Switch 1: Watch that Great Deals tab closely and wishlist only the things I will actually play.

CD Projekt gained my favor from the moment they included a map, a soundtrack cd, and a cute "thanks for buying our humble li'l game 😚👉👈" note in Witcher 3's PS4 box. I'm glad to see they were able to turn the narrative around on CP2077 and come back in gamers' favor. I know corporations aren't our friends but it seems like they love their craft.

@TruestoryYep Thanks for the feedback. It's good to hear from different perspectives. I didn't really enjoy Dark Souls, and the overwhelming positivity is urging me to try Elden Ring but I kinda don't want to.
I sometimes like to have the experience under my belt to be able to properly express why I dislike a game (Looking at Control), but with games being more spendy now I think I can safely skip and say it's not for me.

This was an entertaining watch. I love his use of resources typically reserved for crosswords. Amazing and I subscribed to the channel

@Bunkerneath Not from the company, but from a former project lead. The Ubisoft credits are miles of names long, you can't expect every one of those people to be on board with the Key Card idea.

I like what I've played of FF7R on PS5. Switch 2 might throw a wrench into my plans tho because I always chose to play on Switch instead of home console if possible so I'll probably convince myself to buy this game again.

I'm not much into buying games that I don't expect to finish, but I feel like I owe it to myself to give Elden Ring a shot. This is like... a once-in-a-lifetime kinda game.

Hogwarts Legacy had a huge discount recently which got me to try it out. Personally, after finishing the final grindy mission I'm not sure I ever wanna see that flippin' castle again

I'm not that into tactics games and I'm still intrigued by Hundred Line. I hope they're able to pull it together cuz I'm a fan of Dangan and Zero Escape.

I still need to watch the main Star Wars movies so I can finally play Knight of the Old Republic. If Mass Effect is anything to go by, I'm going to fall in love with it.

@Bizzyb I'm not even that into Metroidvanias and I'm still eyeing that game. The art style was wonderful. If there's a physical I may buy it used.

Orange was simply a more calming color, though red fits a bit more with the overall Switch/2 branding. I just know how the color red can get your blood pumping and trigger your adrenaline and I can't think of anything else when I'm on the eShop. It feels like I'm being rushed.

Last Ubisoft game I enjoyed was Watch_Dogs. It kinda hit at the right time for me, but I don't think I want any more. The only Ubisoft game I am interested in playing now might be that recent Avatar game.

@OctolingKing13 I have a feeling Expedition 33 has a solid chance at GOTY. Only a guess because it's been a long time since Game Awards have seriously looked at Nintendo games

@FirMatt Understandable, though I made it through the Switch generation only playing games scored cheap from the Great Deals section, and I'm having a blast. No need to keep up with trends because the truly great games will float to the surface after a couple of years anyway.

I am only buying these key cards second-hand on eBay if they're cheaper than the digital equivalents. I don't want to send a message to the devs that I want more of these, though unfortunately this is the reality on PS5 which I've also been buying cheaper on eBay.

The headline is confusing, I was excited as I thought a filter was being added on the eShop. it ought to be more specific that you can only hide the unsavoury games on your Home Screen.
This could still be useful to some but I don't BUY those games in the first place and I don't care if people see I bought Vroom in the Night Sky.

I like the new/og DK design, but the thing I find funniest is that they're only gonna be able to use the expensive Universal Studios costume for like a year before commissioning a new one. I guess maybe that's what Nintendo's using all the extra Switch 2 cash for 😭😭😭

I'm keeping my switch. Too many games (like Doom Eternal) are not yet running without issues on Switch 2. I'm gonna be using the Digital Game Card feature a LOT.
