Re: Poll: So, Will You Be Getting Animal Crossing: New Horizons - Nintendo Switch 2 Edition?

Harmonie

I don't even own a Switch 2 yet. In this economy? Pft.

Nevertheless when I am able to get one, I don't know. On one hand, $5 is not bad, on the other hand what it actually adds is not that exciting to me. The actual content that matters the most to me by a wide margin is free and will be coming with just a Switch 1 copy of the game. Which, you know what, I can't complain about one bit. lol

Re: Random: Is That The Zelda Triforce In Sonic Racing's Artwork? No, Probably Not

Harmonie

Yeah, I mean not knowing that the symbol exists outside of Zelda you'll be like "OMG that's the Triforce!" and I think for many of us that is the case.

The only other context I knew for the symbol before this article was that there is a bank which has a symbol that looks a lot like the Triforce. Can't remember what it was called, though, and I live far away from where I used to see that bank now.

Re: Nintendo Direct: Mario Kart World: Every Announcement - How Would You Rate It?

Harmonie

The game looks fantastic, it's really got me hyped. I didn't know how they'd go with the series after 8 because 8 was just so good, but they really have taken the series forward another step with the open courses, extra tricks, and even a little bit of single-player Mario fun (hitting switches, collecting coins, etc.).

The price still sucks, though. There's no changing that. I definitely want this game someday.

Re: Poll: So, How Would You Rate The Nintendo Switch 2 Direct?

Harmonie

Well, I don't know how to rate it. I will say that having a new Mario Kart game at launch is a huge plus for the Switch 2. It addresses an issue I've had with so many Nintendo system launches in the past, where it feels like we didn't get a solid multiplayer game I liked until like after the first year (Switch was really bad at this, but isn't alone).

They've justified the creation of a new Mario Kart game with it, too, as it is a different enough game from Mario Kart 8 (which was fantastic and left me wondering how they could go forward).

Everything else, though??? Not super hyped. I didn't expect to be, really, though. I knew that going in. I suppose I'm turning into a grouchy old lady because I just can't feel that excitement I used to have back in the day for a new system launch. Also, there's no way in the world I will be able to get this at launch. I'd still sooner invest in a Steam Deck, IMO.

Re: Hideki Kamiya Wants Nintendo To Reboot Virtual Console For Switch 2

Harmonie

It's only the right decision. All other forms of media nowadays allow for both a subscription service and purchasing individual media to keep. I don't see why Nintendo is so stubborn about this. Perhaps it's because there's absolutely no reason to even have the higher tier of their online if you can buy the games that are included with it, which is a no-brainer, really... Still, it's just bad business. (in which case I don't mean for Nintendo financially - IDK about that. What I mean is for the customers.)

Re: Random: Hideki Kamiya Would Rather You Not Play Okami On The Wii

Harmonie

@HammerKirby I'm not talking about playing Wii games on the Wii U, I'm talking about playing games in general on the Wii U. If Okami HD had been released on the Wii U, it would have been a vastly superior experience as Okami HD is on the Switch.

But if Okami Wii with the same motion controls was released on either system (like how Super Mario Galaxy was done in the 3D Mario collection on the Switch) then I wouldn't say playing it is great. Forced motion control sucks. Period. But I guess I could also say that the Wii's menu was a pain the rear, too, since you had to use the Wii Remote to even get past it. I'm so glad we're past those days, and I can just play a console like a console again.

Re: Animal Crossing: New Horizons Gets Limited In-Game Event In Japan

Harmonie

@Jeronan Hm... I thought that the DLC was great. Adding the HHD feature as a DLC add-on was a fantastic addition, and, in addition, the update came with a whopping new 1000 items, along with new and old villagers.

As someone who has played and loved the series since the GCN version, I'm aware that some things are missing, such as some staple NPCs didn't return, and that was disappointing for sure, as was the lack of upgrades for the Nooklings' shop. But I'm struggling to think how that was a major letdown in the grand scheme of things.

Re: The Sims 1 & 2 Are Seemingly Returning, But A Console Release Is "Unclear"

Harmonie

@VHSGREMLIN Well a lot of people have been unhappy that TS1 and TS2 are unavailable unless you own them previously. The Sims 2 Ultimate was given away years ago but then vanished, so anyone new who wants to play it can't do so.

Plus, those two games have issues running on modern OSs that require mods to get them working properly, so versions optimized for modern OSs would be amazing.

Re: Poll: So, What Did You Think Of The Switch 2 Reveal?

Harmonie

I honestly don't know what to even think. A vague reveal of a console that looks remarkably like its predecessor doesn't really give me a lot of hype.

I'll wait for game announcements. A new Mario Kart is a great start. Hopefully it'll be a launch title. The Switch and so many Nintendo systems have been hurt by launches with few games of interest for me. A Mario Kart is actually a great way to start, I'll give them credit for that... should it be a launch title.

Re: Talking Point: Just How Damaging Is This Big Pokémon Leak?

Harmonie

@8bit-Man The franchise won't be harmed, but I do worry about how people were doxxed. I know that opinions on the direction that the Pokemon game series has taken have elicited strong opinions from the fanbase and I do fear that some of the doxxed people may get death threats. For shame. I mean I'm someone who has strong opinions, but never in the world would I ever think of doing that. Unfortunately, I know not everyone is like me.

Re: Analyst Is Certain Nintendo Will Win Its Lawsuit Against Palworld Developer

Harmonie

A shame. Palworld mostly is its own game in terms of gameplay (the catching gameplay being the one aspect that is very similar). A number of the creatures are rather obvious ripoffs of Pokemon, but I have some that I really like among the lot (like Foxparks, Foxcicle, Rayhound, Kitsun and Frostallion). I guess the designs will always still exist...

Re: Final Fantasy XIV Online Director Reiterates Interest In A Nintendo Release

Harmonie

@Andee They've done a lot over the past several years to make it more friendly for solo play. When I first started playing it back in 2020, story dungeons and raids had no solo option (story dungeons from the base game and HW kinda did via the Grand Company squadron feature, but you got that late in base game and I don't think you could use it to run content the first time).

The Shadowbringers EP finally brought a way to run its content solo with the Trust system. Now they've taken that idea (save for the leveling up that it had) and retroactively applied it backwards to vast majority of story content. I think the exception is when they make you run the larger raids with eight people, then you still have to do that with other people.

It's neat to see, but personally I'm glad that I was forced to play those dungeons and raids with other people, as I was able to get over my "performance anxiety" and learn to play with others. I only really do DPS, though. For Tank and Healer, I run solo most of the time because those roles give me anxiety.

Re: Nintendo Direct June 2024: Every Announcement, Game Reveal, Trailer

Harmonie

The Mario & Luigi game was a pleasant surprise. But there's nothing in this Direct that is a must-buy for me.

I don't get as hyped for Directs as I used to, so I'm not feeling too bummed out or anything. I just have to recognize that most of what's shown doesn't do it for me personally. I am happy that Metroid Prime fans finally got to see Metroid Prime 4 and I hope it exceeds their expectations.

Re: We're Getting A Brand New 'Mario & Luigi' RPG This November

Harmonie

It's nice to see another Mario & Luigi. I just fear that Nintendo is repeating the same mistake they did before, by putting Mario & Luigi out at the end of a system's lifespan and thus sells will inevitably be lower, they then "punish" the franchise instead of recognizing why it sold less.

I hope that I'm wrong, and I'm glad that the series survived the previous instance of that, even though we lost AlphaDream.

Re: Final Fantasy XIV Online Director Would Love To See Square Enix's MMO On A "Nintendo Platform"

Harmonie

I love the game and would be happy for more people to experience it.

As for me, though, I don't want to play it on console. The key reason being because of communication. Typing with a controller or whatever is the worst thing and that's a big problem with an MMO where there's communication in the chat.

I started playing it on the PS4. Switching to the PC was a HUGE improvement. Not just there, but there are other things, as well. (I still play with the controller, but hybrid with the keyboard/mouse, too for things like menus and typing)
