I don't even own a Switch 2 yet. In this economy? Pft.
Nevertheless when I am able to get one, I don't know. On one hand, $5 is not bad, on the other hand what it actually adds is not that exciting to me. The actual content that matters the most to me by a wide margin is free and will be coming with just a Switch 1 copy of the game. Which, you know what, I can't complain about one bit. lol
I have over 200 hourglass, and this set might actually be one where I don't go all out in pulling on. I have almost every single EX released. I think Pidgeot EX is the only one I don't have.
Yeah, I mean not knowing that the symbol exists outside of Zelda you'll be like "OMG that's the Triforce!" and I think for many of us that is the case.
The only other context I knew for the symbol before this article was that there is a bank which has a symbol that looks a lot like the Triforce. Can't remember what it was called, though, and I live far away from where I used to see that bank now.
I have no timeline on when I'll be able to get a Switch 2. Not for lack of want, I want to play the new Mario Kart and all, but I'm not financially in a place to get this. So I'll keep on playing my Switch 1.
The game looks fantastic, it's really got me hyped. I didn't know how they'd go with the series after 8 because 8 was just so good, but they really have taken the series forward another step with the open courses, extra tricks, and even a little bit of single-player Mario fun (hitting switches, collecting coins, etc.).
The price still sucks, though. There's no changing that. I definitely want this game someday.
This is really neat. They essentially added a single-player experience here. It may not have been what many were imagining, but it feels very Mario, like the platformers almost. I like it!
Imagine spending $70 - a whole $10 more than the game was released at - for an eight year old game and then the DLC wasn't even included after spending that absurd amount of money for an old game to begin with.
Well, I don't know how to rate it. I will say that having a new Mario Kart game at launch is a huge plus for the Switch 2. It addresses an issue I've had with so many Nintendo system launches in the past, where it feels like we didn't get a solid multiplayer game I liked until like after the first year (Switch was really bad at this, but isn't alone).
They've justified the creation of a new Mario Kart game with it, too, as it is a different enough game from Mario Kart 8 (which was fantastic and left me wondering how they could go forward).
Everything else, though??? Not super hyped. I didn't expect to be, really, though. I knew that going in. I suppose I'm turning into a grouchy old lady because I just can't feel that excitement I used to have back in the day for a new system launch. Also, there's no way in the world I will be able to get this at launch. I'd still sooner invest in a Steam Deck, IMO.
It's only the right decision. All other forms of media nowadays allow for both a subscription service and purchasing individual media to keep. I don't see why Nintendo is so stubborn about this. Perhaps it's because there's absolutely no reason to even have the higher tier of their online if you can buy the games that are included with it, which is a no-brainer, really... Still, it's just bad business. (in which case I don't mean for Nintendo financially - IDK about that. What I mean is for the customers.)
@HammerKirby I'm not talking about playing Wii games on the Wii U, I'm talking about playing games in general on the Wii U. If Okami HD had been released on the Wii U, it would have been a vastly superior experience as Okami HD is on the Switch.
But if Okami Wii with the same motion controls was released on either system (like how Super Mario Galaxy was done in the 3D Mario collection on the Switch) then I wouldn't say playing it is great. Forced motion control sucks. Period. But I guess I could also say that the Wii's menu was a pain the rear, too, since you had to use the Wii Remote to even get past it. I'm so glad we're past those days, and I can just play a console like a console again.
I'm going to agree with him... but on the Wii in general. lol. That system was such a pain in the rear. Playing games on the Wii U and the Switch is a thousand times better.
@Jeronan Hm... I thought that the DLC was great. Adding the HHD feature as a DLC add-on was a fantastic addition, and, in addition, the update came with a whopping new 1000 items, along with new and old villagers.
As someone who has played and loved the series since the GCN version, I'm aware that some things are missing, such as some staple NPCs didn't return, and that was disappointing for sure, as was the lack of upgrades for the Nooklings' shop. But I'm struggling to think how that was a major letdown in the grand scheme of things.
@VHSGREMLIN Well a lot of people have been unhappy that TS1 and TS2 are unavailable unless you own them previously. The Sims 2 Ultimate was given away years ago but then vanished, so anyone new who wants to play it can't do so.
Plus, those two games have issues running on modern OSs that require mods to get them working properly, so versions optimized for modern OSs would be amazing.
I really want a SteamDeck. I hate that I wasn't able to get one before now. I'm still thinking of charging one once I get a stable job. The chances of the Switch 2 being a must-have on day one is very slim.
I honestly don't know what to even think. A vague reveal of a console that looks remarkably like its predecessor doesn't really give me a lot of hype.
I'll wait for game announcements. A new Mario Kart is a great start. Hopefully it'll be a launch title. The Switch and so many Nintendo systems have been hurt by launches with few games of interest for me. A Mario Kart is actually a great way to start, I'll give them credit for that... should it be a launch title.
Hard to believe we really didn't hear anything at all about Legends Z-A between now and the last Pokemon Day Presents. It really has been a long dry spell!
Galarian Rapidash is my top favorite Pokemon! But I'm not really interested in Unite. I'm glad to see my favorite Pokemon represented, though. It never appeared in Gen IX. T.T
I got it not too long after it came out on Switch, so I'm good. Alas I would double dip on Steam but I don't even have $5 for that. sigh Oh well! I'm glad I have it on Switch. =) and I'm VERY happy there's a sequel coming!!
Greninja is a great card to have if you don't already have one or two, but this event isn't exciting like the Lapras EX one, because that was an EX card and a brand new card with that. This one is not new aside from the card's design.
Also, I can't wait for the day when we start getting EX's that aren't Gen I.
This seems neat, but I think for non-Nintendo handhelds, the Steam Deck is preferable for me. They're all so expensive, the Steam Deck is likely to be my only purchase between the two.
@8bit-Man The franchise won't be harmed, but I do worry about how people were doxxed. I know that opinions on the direction that the Pokemon game series has taken have elicited strong opinions from the fanbase and I do fear that some of the doxxed people may get death threats. For shame. I mean I'm someone who has strong opinions, but never in the world would I ever think of doing that. Unfortunately, I know not everyone is like me.
A shame. Palworld mostly is its own game in terms of gameplay (the catching gameplay being the one aspect that is very similar). A number of the creatures are rather obvious ripoffs of Pokemon, but I have some that I really like among the lot (like Foxparks, Foxcicle, Rayhound, Kitsun and Frostallion). I guess the designs will always still exist...
@Andee They've done a lot over the past several years to make it more friendly for solo play. When I first started playing it back in 2020, story dungeons and raids had no solo option (story dungeons from the base game and HW kinda did via the Grand Company squadron feature, but you got that late in base game and I don't think you could use it to run content the first time).
The Shadowbringers EP finally brought a way to run its content solo with the Trust system. Now they've taken that idea (save for the leveling up that it had) and retroactively applied it backwards to vast majority of story content. I think the exception is when they make you run the larger raids with eight people, then you still have to do that with other people.
It's neat to see, but personally I'm glad that I was forced to play those dungeons and raids with other people, as I was able to get over my "performance anxiety" and learn to play with others. I only really do DPS, though. For Tank and Healer, I run solo most of the time because those roles give me anxiety.
The Mario & Luigi game was a pleasant surprise. But there's nothing in this Direct that is a must-buy for me.
I don't get as hyped for Directs as I used to, so I'm not feeling too bummed out or anything. I just have to recognize that most of what's shown doesn't do it for me personally. I am happy that Metroid Prime fans finally got to see Metroid Prime 4 and I hope it exceeds their expectations.
Neat to see a game with Zelda as the playable hero, and the puzzles and the ways they are solved looks very unique. However, I'm personally not one for 2.5D games, they just don't immerse me enough. Might pick it up when it's on sale.
It's nice to see another Mario & Luigi. I just fear that Nintendo is repeating the same mistake they did before, by putting Mario & Luigi out at the end of a system's lifespan and thus sells will inevitably be lower, they then "punish" the franchise instead of recognizing why it sold less.
I hope that I'm wrong, and I'm glad that the series survived the previous instance of that, even though we lost AlphaDream.
