Re: Talking Point: Which Scary Video Game Moments Gave You Nightmares As A Kid?

Harmonie

I could not play through Shadow Temple in OOT as a child. I was scared of a lot in OOT, the Shadow Temple was just too much for me. Somehow I did do the well. I don't know how. lol. I had to turn down the volume because the music in the creepier dungeons was so scary for me as well.

Needless to say, I am not one for horror, not even as an adult. OOT doesn't scare me anymore, but if a new Zelda with the better technology goes back down that road I'm not going to like it. Like TP's Arbiter Grounds terrified me and still would.

Re: Games Like Zelda - What To Play After You've Finished Breath Of The Wild

Harmonie

@Ventilator Yeah, Immortals Fenyx Rising was obviously strongly inspired by BOTW. The fact that it was developed by the development team of Assassin's Creed Odyssey is also evident. I don't say that just because of them both dealing with ancient Greece in one way or another.

I didn't finish the game for whatever reason but came close. I need to get back to it and finish it! It was fun.

Re: New Persona 5 Royal Trailer Highlights Slick Switch Gameplay

Harmonie

I might get it someday. I played P5 on the PS4 several years ago, but (and I'm pretty sure I said this on this very site years ago lol) I said that I might pick up Royal if it comes to the Switch because it'd be nice to have it portable and then experience the new content.

Still, the other Personas are first on the list for me as I've never played them before.

Re: Assassin's Creed Anniversary 'Mega Bundle' Includes Six Games, Out Now On Switch

Harmonie

I don't like violent games, but I do love history and although these are fictional and make alterations, the idea of getting to visualize historical locations in an open world format is really neat. So... I tried Odyssey and enjoyed it a whole lot. I now have Valhalla and am enjoying it.

I don't think I'll play the whole series, though. Valhalla has some nice violence-reduction options like NOT showing beheading which I certainly have used.

I think one thing that draws me to Odyssey and Valhalla is that they are less like the originals, which are very stealth-based from my understanding. I suck at stealth, so... lol.

Re: Talking Point: What Do You Want To See At Tomorrow's Nintendo Direct Showcase?

Harmonie

I suppose I don’t have many expectations. I always want a return of Golden Sun, but it’s clear that Camelot has been working only on Mario sports titles.

I could also go for an Okami sequel and a new Ace Attorney. I don’t figure they’ll be shown here, though.

I think BOTW2 is almost guaranteed a showing and I look forward to that.

I can tell you what I really don’t want to see, and that’s Zelda ports.

Re: Persona 3, 4, and 5 Seemingly Confirmed For Everything But Switch

Harmonie

I have called out every post acting like Persona 5 being absent from the Switch was a mystery, but now there is full reasoning to claim this. Beforehand the main series was almost entirely Sony exclusive with a PC release here or there, but now it's on Microsoft consoles... and not Nintendo? That's undeniably frustrating.

What's the deal Atlus?

Re: Talking Point: If Breath Of The Wild 2 Launched Alongside New Switch Hardware, Would You Upgrade?

Harmonie

Let me put it this way: When BOTW was released, I was not inclined to get a Switch for it, when I already had a Wii U.

I likely would do the same again in this scenario and stick with my Switch, unless the new hardware came with amazing exclusives. That's the thing. Switch did not have a single exclusive of interest for me until Odyssey, so I didn't need it for a while.

Re: Square Enix Officially Announces Kingdom Hearts IV

Harmonie

My opinion is that I'm not really hyped about this. It's most likely a long way out, but also the graphics are weird. I understand making Sora, Riku and the other original to KH characters fit in with the modern FF style, but the actual environments scream that trying to hard to look realistic but not doing a very good job at it.

KH3 was a very beautiful game visually. I was always impressed with the Toy Story world from the second it was announced. They really should stick with that Pixar look and not try to go all photo-realistic here, it doesn't work with KH, nor does this style really work at all with the way they've done it IMO.

Not to say I'm hating on the game, though. I've been playing the series since 2004 and will likely always want to play a new entry (unless they do something too drastic with it, or turn it into Star Wars and Marvel collaborations. Ugh). I just am not feeling too excited from this initial trailer. I do, however, look forward to more info in the future.

Re: Feature: 6 Things We Pokémon Vets Want To See In Pokémon Scarlet And Violet

Harmonie

@RubyCarbuncle I never said "challenging". I mean when I said I steamrolled it's not that I really wanted difficulty persay, it's that I didn't want to one-shot the champion's signature Pokemon as that takes away from the experience.

In all truth, I don't play games to be stressed out, so I don't like difficulty. But there is still a base level, which isn't really challenging at all but at least feels "involved" and yet because of the balancing issues created by Exp Share being forced on me and me wanting to explore the Wild Area, it went below that.

Steamrolling over the rival and champion was a mockery of the very story. The rival was at least supposed to put up at least a little bit of a fight after his character development. It all made me feel like my trainer was just a terrible person that curbstomped his dreams that we saw were so important to him like nothing.

Re: Feature: 6 Things We Pokémon Vets Want To See In Pokémon Scarlet And Violet

Harmonie

@RubyCarbuncle What's baffling is why it can't just be an option like it was in Gen VI and VII. It's just bad game design to be forced.

In Shield, I felt punished for taking my time to enjoy the game and spending a lot of time in the Wild Area. Because the more time I spent in Wild Area, the more my Pokemon leveled up, beyond my control. This messed me up at the end of the story when I steamrolled over the rival and champion. It just felt...wrong.

I know that Sw/Sh allow you to switch out Pokemon easily, but before anyone says that... I tried to do that to the best of my ability. However, even when I was trying my best, I kept one strong Pokemon in my team to keep me from blacking out. That Pokemon became massively overleveled and pretty much handled the champion all by itself.

It's one thing when you have an old style Pokemon game like BD/SP, but when you have a game with open areas that you want to explore, Exp Share can really mess with the balancing. I don't want to be punished for exploring and enjoying the game.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (March 26th)

Harmonie

You all, I just want to note that for the very first time ever I actually feel "overwhelmed" with the Switch's new releases. Pokemon Legends Arceus, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe DLC, and the new Kirby, it's so much! I've never had so much content to play in such a short amount of time!

Bravo to Nintendo!

Re: Best Kirby Games Of All Time

Harmonie

The Switch version "coincidentally" takes the top spot. Lol. Okay, but it does look really good and I hope that it delivers when I get to play it! =) (haven't found a Kirby game to be too enjoyable aside from Kirby 64, largely because the 2D visuals were just boring to me. Shallow, I know)
