Poll: Will You Be Getting The New Joy-Con 2 Set?

Uh... no. I will not pay near $100 USD for a church fart of color. Gimme a dutch oven of color and we'll talk.

Why not give us more colors in the actual main part of the Joycons? A little splash of color like this can be aesthetically nice, but why not have options that are more colorful?

With Splatoon Raiders and Pokemon Gen 10 on the horizon, we'll probably see our first Switch 2 special edition soon, so people looking for more color should go for those instead when they arrive. I have no need for more Joy Con 2s (and to be honest, I prefer the neon blue and orange) and will not be buying these. They look nice, though.

My answer: Terrible. Gimme the White or Blue or Pastel colors outside then my money is ready.

I'm very much not a fan of the colors being pretty much absent if you keep them in the Switch 2 itself. I have 4 separate controllers when I play with buddies and usually use a pro controller myself when docked, so I'd never see more than that little color ring around the stick, which sucks. Need proper shell colors.

I'm tempted, but as a Certified Yellow Enthusiast, I'll probably wait until I can get a new set of joycons with that color.

If they end up selling the two separately then I might think about getting the green one in the future. But I'd rather first see if they could do more drastically different color variants.

By the way, I think the purple would go hard with a custom Atomic Purple shell.

Not interested in these, my joy con's are always connected to the console so all I would see is the little bit of colour around the joystick. Now if they make joy con's where it's completely a different colour then I would be interested.

I really like them but i shell wait for other colours.

If for some reason I have to get new Joy Con 2's (I was close to doing this recently because my R button was sticking, but I fixed it by cleaning it with a thin piece of paper), I probably would get them, I really like the colors, but otherwise JC2's are just massively way too expensive to be buying multiples.

I just got in a relationship. If I end up buying my gf a Switch 2 down the line, I hope there will be bundles with these colors, as well as any other new ones. I like having options, you know? And I'd rather not spend $100 on a separate pair of Joy-Con 2's.

This is as barely "technically green" as you can get and the eye test I would say reads more blue

They're cute, but last gen taught me that if you just wait, they'll be some sexy special Zelda ones at some point in the Switch 2's life cycle. Stand down for now.

They're the same colors as the OG set but with different trim. What happened to Nintendo's imagination?

I voted "something else" because unfortunately I just bought a second pair of Joy-con 2 controllers last week.

No but I like the colour palette of Switch 2 more than Switch 1. This lavender and sea foam colour scheme is fun, and should be an option for new buyers with the console.

I miss the days where you could buy different colours. Gamecube had the indigo, black, silver, and orange colours. N64 had a lot of really interesting choices and pioneered the transparent case trend. Why not more options for Switch 2?

Question: When you slot these into the console, does the UI colour change to match? Has this been mentioned?

Ditch the black and then I'll maybe think about it. The main draw of the original joycons is that you could see the actual difference. At best you'll only see the control stick border

Not really any reason to, only person I have to play with is my roommate and both of us have our own Switch 2s as well as our own Pro Controllers.

I most likely will — only downside I can see is that there isn't an official charging dock for the JC2 themselves.

I don't use the ones I already have, why would I buy another set? 😄

I wouldn't have minded if I had the option of which would come with the console when I bought it (especially if I could replace the orange one with the green one). But as a standalone purchase after I already got the whole thing? No, thanks.

I only buy my controllers digitally nowadays, so I am going to have to pass. 🙂

I'm good; already waiting for those Virtual Boy thingies I have absolutely zero use for.

I think these new JoyCon look really nice, but I can't justify that price tag. If they were 60 or 70 dollars, I'd consider it.

Also, I really just don't need any more controllers for my Switch 2. I already have the pair of JoyCon 2 my Switch 2 came with, plus two good pairs of Switch 1 JoyCon, plus a Switch 1 Pro Controller. (That being said, I have kinda been wanting to pick up a Switch 2 Pro Controller).

However, if my JoyCon 2 died for any reason, I would VERY happily replace them with these. They're so pretty!! X3

@Hwatt Do you mean the little snap animation on the edge of the screen when you snap the JoyCon in? I'd have to imagine that changes. It did on Switch 1, plus, the Switch 2 definitely knows the color of the JoyCon you have connected. If you put the left JoyCon in the right one's hole (or vice versa) the snap animation is actually in the color of the JoyCon you put in, not the one that "should be" there.

Nintendo loves pastels. I like that they are keeping the black with color trim theme to distinguish Switch2 from 1 joycon. I’m sure a few years from now they will be doing full color, two color, and would be awesome to do three color (joystick trim, plastic inner trim, main exterior). Joycon for life! Pro is good for specific games but 90% of the time I use joy cons. Arms comfortably and naturally rested on my armchairs instead of “holding up” one big remote with both hands. GameCube controller is pinnacle and Wii/nunchuck and joycons are revolutionary.

Also, what is the difference between choices maybe, thinking about it, and not sure?

I prefer the pro controller for gaming but I will say I like the color combo. Has a real Easter vibe…now I want a peep.

I'll pick them up some time down the line. I bought most of the Switch 1 joy-con pairs in the pastel colors as well as the orange and purple gamecube styles. If they release that color combination it will be an instant purchase for me.
I already have an extra pair of Switch 2 joy-cons but I'm all about variety.

Why not use nice colors and why not do something with the colors of the buttons?

I love how the color is subtle, almost absent, when attached to the console. It's just an accent and I think it's perfect. I'm happy they didn't color the buttons or the entire joy-con.

I don't like that the inside of the console side is still the color of the original joy-cons that came with the system.

They look good, but I have no need for additional Joy-Con right now.

On top of the S2 joycon, I've got 4 pairs of S1 joycon...so I'm good.

I find the colors on the joycon 2 to be pretty underwhelming and boring tbh. The joycon 1 were so much more colorful. Here the colors are muted and drab looking in comparison. Plus when attached there's barely any color except the rings around the sticks. Unless mine start having drift issues or theres a special edition, I don't see myself switching to another pair.

Edit: They could've made the colors brighter and make them pop more.

I’ve barely taken the joycon off my Switch. There was a moment I tried the mouse mode in Bravely Default, which was definitely another control scheme.

The colour isn’t really obvious, is it? I mean it’s still 98% black plastic.

I like them, but as more people point out, they could be way more colourful. I'll wait for a good themed Switch 2 and sell my day 1 edition to a friend for a nice price.

If Nintendo starts making these in other colours than black (with some coloured accents) I might consider getting a second pair, but at the moment I'm not interested. I don't like black.

Kind of a lame color alternative and I don't think it really matters when it's this subtle. It's like they went with one of the worst combos they could have came up with as the first alternative.

I'd like to have an extra pair of joy-cons 2, just in case, and these colours look nice.
Somewhere down the line I'll get these if they haven't come up with something more extravagant then.

Almost pre-ordered the blue and purple multi-use controller from LRG recently and told myself I really did not need it. So I'll try to at least wait a little bit before I get these...

I can't justify spending $100 on two joycons. I'm glad I got the Switch 2 on day 1 because I've already been priced out.

While I'm not certified, I'm a color fantatic and was drawn to 8Bitdo's Ultimate 2 Bluetooth Controller in yellow for Switch 2 (https://a.co/d/i25wlhE). It's not perfect, but it looks good, has a charging dock, shake to wake works (after a firmware upgrade), has lights, and was cheaper than the Pro. I use my Pro more, but giddily use the Ultimate 2 when the Pro's battery dies and the excuse to use arises.

Dude they're just so expensive I don't think I'll ever grab joycons 2 just because they look cool. I won't unless I really have to.

Right now, I am using Switch 1 Joy Cons or Pro controllers as well as the Gamecube Switch 2 controllers for multiplayer. Don't need a second pair of Switch 2 Joy Cons

Eh. I only owned the original grey joycons (oh and some third party hori pads) for my original switch, and I imagine I'll do the same here.

I am waiting for a nice looking switch 2 pad though. That resi one really isn't doing it for me. Perhaps a Zelda themed one, down the line? Metroid or Xenoblade might also get me to open my wallet.

If they do the light green one separately, maybe. It speaks to my Dolphins fandom a bit more than the existing blue.

Right! Same with the dock. I really want a second one, so I can bounce between a couple of rooms, but $125 is a bit too much to justify (and I don't trust the cheapo third party ones).

I’d love to see a set with the original accent colours but white or grey for the shell.

I love the colors, but it feels a bit held back. Maybe if the Switch 2 was already released with a LOT more Joy-Con colors it would justify it. Everything is black but inside it would have a huge range of colors. But having just four colors? I’m not surprised people don’t like it

I never bought alt colors on Switch 1, so the trend will continue with NS2.

Would have liked different colours but I feel the way they have the Switch 2 set up indicates that we need those 2 default colours and only those. It's really weird how they did things with this machine.

They'll look virtually identical when they're on the Switch or in the grip. They're still just black; one hardly ever sees the inside.

I'm not so sure are literally the same option. I'm waiting for other colours and I'm saving or waiting for something else can also be lumped together. And I don't even have a Switch 2 yet is completely unnecessary. Why are Switch 1 users even being considered in the sample size?

Seriously, @Liam_Doolan, this needs to be fixed. This poll is heavily skewed because of all the unnecessary data points you're including. Polls need to be straight forward to be accurate.

Not great on first attempt but as history proved on SW1, this won't be the only edition of Joycons that the big N will release and we did see the odd meh effort then.

In all honesty, I like the current all black aesthetic of the SW2 with subtle colour hints. Each to their own.

I almost exclusively use my switch 2 in docked mode along with a switch-2 pro controller.
There is just no going back to joy-cons for me.
Not because they are awful but the pro controller is just so damn good.

Why would I buy new Joy Cons for my Switch 2 just because they are a different colour? The ones I have are like 6 months old...

I like the colours, and the limited usage of them looks good when the controllers are detached, but I'd like to see more colour on the main body of the controller so the console in handheld mode doesn't look so bland. My plan is still to only buy a Switch 2 once there's some sort of special edition available with a more colourful design - not just for aesthetic reasons but because by then enough time will have passed that I should be able to get the games a bit cheaper (secondhand if necessary). With that in mind it's a shame we're probably not getting a new Animal Crossing any time soon (judging by the upcoming New Horizons update), as the ACNH Switch 1 is gorgeous and I'd definitely buy a Switch 2 with a similar design to that.
