Re: Exclusive: Horse Club Adventures 2 DLC For Switch Looks Freakin' Adorable

Harmonie

For a second I though this was the same game as the one I got on my PC (Horse Tales - Emerald Valley Ranch), but nope, different game. But both feature your character on a boat coming to a seaside town. lol Hm...

To everyone talking about the quality of horse care games, IDK. I found Horse Tales to be okay. The horses were cute and I loved the animations while petting... Completely melted my heart! Lol. But a lot of the story progression is based on obstacle course races and that gets repetitive.

I haven't played this game or the first in its series. I'd love to hear if it's good.

Re: Talking Point: Is Tears Of The Kingdom The Scariest Zelda Game Ever?

Harmonie

This Zelda is certainly creepier than Skyward Sword and BOTW, but I don't know how it stacks to OOT, MM, or TP for me.

The hands are more frightening in a exhilarating/danger sense than anything else for me. The Gibdos were a little bit creepy, but less realistic than TP, so not as much. (the Gibdos queen boss should be terrifying as it's a mixture of two things that scare me - moths and zombies, and yet it wasn't super scary for me either).

Re: Nintendo Reveals New Switch Joy-Con Pastel Colour Controller Sets

Harmonie

@alienfossils I get why they do two different colors. When I got my original Switch I almost went with the gray, but went with the red and blue instead and I've actually liked the duel colors... It flows.

With that said, I'm not disagreeing with you here. At this point, I think I'd like them to release each color in individually, but with each package just having one of the two Joycons and every color being available in both sides and then you can mix and match.

That's probably some kind of thing that is bad for business or something, but boy would it be great for us to have the options. It would still allow, perhaps even encourage mixed colors, but give you the options to mix and match as you like, and allow for just one color if you wish.

Re: Every First-Party Nintendo Switch Game That Has Sold Over One Million Copies

Harmonie

@Arawn93 But I think this misunderstands the fact that when someone states an opinion they aren't saying "this product isn't successful because I don't like it". The metrics of someone's opinion and the financial success and/or popularity of a game are two completely different metrics. And that's my point here. The success/popularity of the game is irrelevant to an individual's opinion.

I think practically everyone knows that the game is successful. It's just pointing out the obvious and acting like it matters when it doesn't.

The time to argue a game is financially successful is when someone is arguing that the game wasn't successful. When discussing someone's opinion over a game, it has nothing to do with anything at all.

Re: Every First-Party Nintendo Switch Game That Has Sold Over One Million Copies

Harmonie

@Maulbert I love Breath of the Wild. My favorite Zelda game and definitely the direction I personally want to see the series keep going... But I can't help but get frustrated when I see this idea that good sales have any weight at all against someone's personal opinion on something.

An individual's opinion isn't invalidated by good sales. Where did this notion even come from? Nintendo cares about sales because they're a corporation, but we are not them, we are customers. We come to Nintendo for entertainment. Sales are not part of opinions over enjoyment of a game.

As I said, I love BOTW. I'm really happy to see it sell well. But I wish people would stop using this argument that someone's opinion is overriden by sales. Like, yes, the corporation cares about sales, but that doesn't change our opinion over whether or not something is entertaining or not.

Re: Sobble Is The Latest Pokémon To Join The Build-A-Bear Range

Harmonie

Aw, great to see them expanding the catalog. Sobble isn't personally one I'd buy (nothing wrong with Sobble, just not one of my top favorites and these are pretty expensive).

There are so many of these I'd love to get, but I've spent a lot of money on plushies lately (including a really nice decent sized Galarian Ponyta plush from Japan)... Would love Alolan Vulpix, but the smaller cheaper plush I got will have to do. lol

Re: Poll: Which Was Your First 'Final Fantasy'?

Harmonie

Technically X. But I didn't get very far in it because I sucked. lol. The same goes for VII, which I started years later (when it came out on the Switch). I got well beyond the scope of the VII Remake currently, but I still got stuck. VII Remake I did finish and loved.

I consider XIV to be my first full experience with FF, though. VII remake was great but it's only a small portion of VII's story and I can't wait for the later installments! XIV I have put more hours into than probably any game ever. It's great fun and I like the characters!

Re: Poll: Do You Want Weapon Degradation To Return In Zelda: Tears Of The Kingdom?

Harmonie

In my mind, weapon degradation is fine as long as you eventually get to weapon(s) that do not break. It makes sense to start out with rough tools and have to forage around, but later in the game, after you've put a lot of time and work it feels like you should be able to get unbreakable weapons. And I don't mean ones that can charge, I just mean plain, unbreakable weapons.

Unfortunately, Nintendo more recently failed at this with Animal Crossing New Horizons. Another game where breakable tools early on in the game make perfect sense. But they didn't do that, even golden tools were breakable. It's annoying.

Re: Soapbox: All Fish Pokémon Are Bad, And There's A Good Reason Why

Harmonie

I have always picked the water starter in each game, so looking for other water Pokemon has never been a thing for me. With that said, I have seen plenty of "fish" Pokemon that I find the designs appealing.

This rail against Pokemon whose designs are "too simple" kinda gets to me. Sometimes the simpler Pokemon designs are the best. I get that complaint with a Pokemon like Flamigo, but not really any of the fish Pokemon.

Re: Best Nintendo Switch Anime Games

Harmonie

Xenoverse 2 is my favorite anime game ever probably. FighterZ's graphic style is absolutely gorgeous and accurate to the anime, but that raw kind of fighting game isn't really for me personally.

Need to look into the JJBA game someday. The last time I looked into that game I had only seen the first two parts and wasn't familiar with the vast majority of the characters. lol

Re: Soapbox: If You Thought Last Year Was "Sad" For Switch, 2023 Might Be Hard To Handle

Harmonie

@RareGames Well, it comes down to a matter of opinion really. For me, 2022 had two ambitious new (not remake) Pokemon games and the most exciting Kirby game (for me) in two decades. Also, Mario Kart 8 DLC and some great long awaited third party port releases like Persona 5. And I mean, on top of that there were other major first party releases like the new Splatoon and Xenoblade (neither of which are of interest to me, so I don't really know how good they were)

For me, with my tastes, this blows all of the other Switch years out of the water. So many years before were very one-note and that was it, like 2018 just being SSBU, and 2020 being primarily Animal Crossing. Far too many Wii U ports coming out in prior years. This year was NEW Nintendo titles and that was much needed. For so many years, the Switch was feeling like a Wii U port machine with some new games scattered here and there.

I wish Tears of the Kingdom could have made the 2022 deadline, but I guess since I don't know much else of interest revealed to be coming out this upcoming year, I'll gladly take TotK in it.

Re: Best Nintendo Switch Games Of 2022

Harmonie

Pokemon Legends Arceus takes this for me. Scarlet and Violet fall a little short of it, but I still like them. Also the Kirby and the Forgotten Land deserves a mention for sure. It's the most enjoyable Kirby game for me in two decades. I hope they keep making Kirby games like it!

Re: Poll: So, Animal Crossing: New Leaf Or New Horizons - Which Do You Like Best?

Harmonie

New Leaf holds a special place because it kinda "revived" the series after the huge slump that was City Folk. New Leaf felt like the real sequel to the original on the GCN, finally.

However, New Horizons brought some major features to the series with the island terraforming, outdoor furniture finally (NL's implementation of it was extremely clunky). NH struggled initially with how little variety the game had in terms of furniture and that brought it down a little, but not only did the DLC fix that, but I was always more partial toward NH over NL because NH had me playing longer than NL did, even before the DLC.

NH gets my vote. It's not a perfect game. It has some strange omissions (like why we didn't get a Nook store expansion?) and the villager interaction is blah (but it has been for a long time, and NL is absolutely no exception), but overall NH is my favorite. NL was tough to beat, but NH managed!
