Re: Konami Remastering 'Tokimeki Memorial' Dating Sim DS Trilogy For Switch

Liam_Doolan

@InnerSound Just a heads up, I've updated the text.

The reference to 'visual novel' was taken from the source (I can see where it's coming from), but to make it clear, the second paragraph now references "dating sim" so it matches the headline.

This series is still commonly categorised under "Otome" from what I have seen, but yes - it's a spin-off and is orientated toward female fans.

Re: First Paid DLC For Spooky Fishing Adventure Dredge Delayed

@inkslinger From the PS blog in May of this year:

"Finally, we will be developing a paid and entirely optional DLC featuring the mysterious Ironhaven Corporation. They’re looking to establish an innovative drilling operation in the area to revitalize the towns and populations, but their ultimate goal is unknown. As you gather materials to construct new buildings and biomatter to fuel the rig, meet new characters, craft new equipment, and catch new fish, you may uncover the truth behind their potentially nefarious operations."

Re: Nintendo Is "Evolving" Into An Entertainment Company, According To Doug Bowser

Liam_Doolan

@Zyph But was Nintendo really an "entertainment company" during Reggie's time? Brushing aside its history of love hotels and playing cards, it's really only been known as a video game company in modern times.

I agree with Doug here that Nintendo is on the way - or at least in his words "evolving" into something bigger, potentially. And it's really only kicked off around 2021 - with the launch of these other projects (theme parks and movies) which require huge sums of money but also have huge financial returns.

I should note, I do respect the fact that others could see Nintendo from a completely different perspective.

Re: Random: "Ultimate Console Database" Secures Ultra Rare Nintendo Labo Switch

Liam_Doolan

@chagrined Yes - there were seven units in the west, as noted by the source. Update: The source has now updated the total to 10 - so it seems to be factoring in Japan's contest as well: https://www.nintendo.co.jp/labo/contest/index.html

I've still got some of the original PRs in my inbox and Nintendo gave out three of these units in AUNZ. We did cover it at the time (you left a comment, I see): https://www.nintendolife.com/news/2018/10/australia_and_new_zealand_nintendo_labo_contest_winners_include_life-size_master_cycle_zero_and_toy-con_marionette

3 in AU
3 in EU - https://www.nintendolife.com/news/2018/09/europe_nintendo_labo_contest_winners_include_glow_in_the_dark_luigis_mansion_and_alien_game 2 x Spain winner, 1 x France winner (three categories - creation, customisation and kids)
2 in US - "2 Grand Prize winners will each receive one (1) collectible Nintendo Switch system"
3 in Japan

So now the number is at 11, going down a rabbit hole here...

Re: Mortal Kombat 1 "Gameplay Premiere" Scheduled For 8th June

@Zach777 Here's what Ed Boon had to say about MK1 in a recent live stream (via PCGamesN):

“Mortal Kombat 1 is the beginning of a universe. It is not a continuation of the Mortal Kombat 11 story so the characters have completely different roles in this new timeline and we really wanted to emphasize that with our title.

“This is Mortal Kombat 1, it’s a brand new beginning, you’re going to be seeing these characters reintroduced with new roles, new relationships, and that’s the main catalyst for it.”
