Re: Donkey Kong Country Returns Switch Dev Appears To Have Been Revealed

Liam_Doolan

@N00BiSH Monster Games was acquired by iRacing in January 2022 and appears to have been working on racing games ever since (NASCAR etc). Before this, the last Nintendo game it helped out with was Xenoblade Chronicles 3D (2015).

Monster could still be credited on this latest release, but based on this announcement it seems like it's a Forever project.

Re: Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes Switch Update Adding Performance Mode

@-wc- Whoops, forgot to add a hyperlink there. To clarify, that's from our review.

As for the score, we don't normally update this unless the review is in-progress (e.g. see No Man's Sky review). Sometimes we might also add a note, if something major has changed / improved.

For anyone who missed them, our reviews on PX and PS are worth a read as well:

Re: The Witcher's Netflix Series Announces "Fifth And Final Season"

Liam_Doolan

@WiiWareWave I assume so if Switch got them in the end. This was the original announcement:

"In addition to the next-gen release, the PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch versions of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt will also receive an update featuring numerous additions and improvements, as well as the Netflix Witcher-themed DLCs."

Update: Found this over on Push Square:

Re: Atooi's Hatch Tales For Switch Will Include "Over 2000" Level Uploads From 3DS Release Chicken Wiggle

Liam_Doolan

@Ogbert A "slight delay" was referencing the latest delay which took place at the end of March 2024 (and changed the release to June 2024). Those dates are just months apart but I get where you're coming from, so I've changed this to "last-minute delay".

It was also noted in the text (right after this) how it has now been more than six years since the Kickstarter campaign, and we did highlight this in a previous story here on NL. This same story included some commentary about how Atooi's communication had frustrated backers:

Guess we'll see how this all unfolds in June!

Re: Konami Remastering 'Tokimeki Memorial' Dating Sim DS Trilogy For Switch

Liam_Doolan

@InnerSound Just a heads up, I've updated the text.

The reference to 'visual novel' was taken from the source (I can see where it's coming from), but to make it clear, the second paragraph now references "dating sim" so it matches the headline.

This series is still commonly categorised under "Otome" from what I have seen, but yes - it's a spin-off and is orientated toward female fans.

Re: First Paid DLC For Spooky Fishing Adventure Dredge Delayed

Liam_Doolan

@inkslinger From the PS blog in May of this year:

"Finally, we will be developing a paid and entirely optional DLC featuring the mysterious Ironhaven Corporation. They’re looking to establish an innovative drilling operation in the area to revitalize the towns and populations, but their ultimate goal is unknown. As you gather materials to construct new buildings and biomatter to fuel the rig, meet new characters, craft new equipment, and catch new fish, you may uncover the truth behind their potentially nefarious operations."

Re: Nintendo Is "Evolving" Into An Entertainment Company, According To Doug Bowser

Liam_Doolan

@Zyph But was Nintendo really an "entertainment company" during Reggie's time? Brushing aside its history of love hotels and playing cards, it's really only been known as a video game company in modern times.

I agree with Doug here that Nintendo is on the way - or at least in his words "evolving" into something bigger, potentially. And it's really only kicked off around 2021 - with the launch of these other projects (theme parks and movies) which require huge sums of money but also have huge financial returns.

I should note, I do respect the fact that others could see Nintendo from a completely different perspective.
