Re: Poll: What Other Nintendo Franchise Would You Like To See Niantic Work On?

Liam_Doolan

@KayFiOS As noted in the press release:

This Pikmin game will be "the first in a series of apps that the two companies will develop together". So it seems there are more Nintendo-themed apps on the way from Niantic. And that's why the poll is focused on Niantic.

We could have included every Nintendo IP under the sun in this poll, but I've narrowed it down to the top Nintendo franchises and a few others that are relevant to this current generation.

For series like Nintendogs (which we haven't seen since 2011), F-Zero, EarthBound etc - select the "other Nintendo IP" option.

Re: Nintendo Plugs Zelda: Skyward Sword HD With New "Button-Only" Control Scheme

Liam_Doolan

@basswitch @tonyp1987 I was thinking about adding one, but I'm still not sure. I feel like it might be too soon.

The game isn't out until July, and I think it would be better to gauge how everyone is feeling (and which control style they'll be using) around then when we presumably know more about the Switch version.

If the above post isn't updated with a poll, at some point closer to release we'll likely run one (maybe more).

Re: Some History About ILCA, The Japanese Studio Working On The Pokémon Diamond And Pearl Remakes

Liam_Doolan

@BloodNinja I always appreciate getting approved by a ninja, so thanks!

This was an article I thought might be of interest to the community.

To my knowledge, this is the first time in the history of the Pokemon series that Game Freak hasn't handled a mainline remake.

ILCA isn't exactly a household name (compared to certain other developers and publishers), so hopefully, this particular release makes everyone a little more familiar with the studio.

As mentioned by @VoidofLight, we have no official affiliation with Nintendo. Nintendo Life is a partner of the Gamer Network and has sister sites like Pure Xbox and Push Square.

Whenever we work with a publisher or developer or have any correspondence with them, we normally mention it in the text.

Re: Crash Bandicoot 4 Switch eShop File Size Revealed

@gaga64 Push Square spoke to the Crash 4 team because an upgraded version is headed to the PS5.

We got them to ask about the Switch version's performance and published the response here on Nintendo Life.

Check our previous Crash 4 story for more info about this.

Re: It's Official, Funimation Is Releasing Its Anime App On Switch This Week

Liam_Doolan

@TheSmashTheorist There is no mention of it requiring an NSO subscription. As far as I know, it's a standalone app that you'll download for free from the Switch eShop (much like YouTube and other apps).

As for the costs, it's got a free and paid model. I just booted up an episode of Ace Attorney (the anime) on the Funimation website and watched a bit of it, it had ads, but I didn't even have to log in. With the app, you might have to register an account before you can use it.

Personally, I use the Crunchyroll app on all my devices - not sure what will happen to that though now that it has been bought by Funimation (Sony).

Update: As @Bendy mentioned, it seems you need an account and a subscription to use the Switch version of the app.
