F-Zero 99 Update Adding More Tracks, Datamine Uncovers New Modes

Already hyped for Survival Mode!

Three more course themes have been datamined as well? All placeholder assets for now, but they are newly made, despite one of the themes sharing its name with a Satellaview-exclusive track

Arcade Mode sounds like something I didn't realize I wanted from this game. I love it!

this game is such a monkey's paw good game. ive had zero interest in the series but the online 99 format makes it so much more fun to replay

Possible a DLC Pass like Tetris 99 I bet. Would be awesome if they brought out a physical edition with a 12 month Switch Online subscription as well.

More courses already is pretty awesome. I’m having a blast with this and the survival mode will be my favorite. I always loved the death race on X. I haven’t encountered a fire field track yet but surely that will be a part of the game. It’s hard to say what my favorite Fzero track is but fire field is up there.

Great to see we’re getting more support for the game! The new modes sound fun, hopefully survival’s going to be like death race in X. And more tracks are always good too!
@solarwolf07 Probably due to Mute City and Big Blue being iconic tracks most people pick them

This was one of those ideas where you go: Why didn't they think of that sooner. Though I never would've thought about it, let alone could make it work!

I really hope they add 25 player online racing and leaderboards for time trials. They would add so much to the game. The fact it has F-Zero 25 and 50 in the tutorial, makes me think they will but it's Nintendo, so we'll see.

I would like to say that Forest is pretty much a generic name to use, I can see a developer using that kind of name for a test without knowing about its presence in BS F-Zero Grand Prix 2.
But they bothered to come with brand new names so I don't think Forest is a coincidence, but by no means it proves Satellaview content is planned.

But we could hope it would happen, this content in particular is even unpreserved by the community aside from a rare video, so that would be a point where Nintendo would actually kind of save the day for once.

Can they add more vehicles cuz for a game about 99 players playing simultaneously, only having 4 characters is kinda stinks.

Why survival mode? I think for 90% of the players the basic game is already a survival mode XD

Sounds like it might be getting a good amount better. It's already really good as it is. Definitely been enjoying this game so far. Just the low amount of tracks currently in it hurts a bit, so I haven't played it THAT much yet, but that will come more when at least all the SNES tracks drop.

@GogGogGogGog I'd love this to happen but the game seems to be firmly rooted in emulating the original F-Zero experience now, and thus the original four cars that featured in that. Another thing they'd have to consider is how to balance any new racers so that they don't accidentally create a situation where one vehicle consistently outshines the others and leads to nobody ever picking anything else. The differences between the cars seem pretty minimal as it stands, but I'd imagine it's still a programming headache they'd rather avoid for now.

Never liked F-Zero. 99 changed all of that. Great game. I even went back to finally play the SNES game. I think there were some great ones on GBA too? Come on Nintendo, release them. F-Zero, you got a new fan!

Maybe the survival course will just be a circlular arena and everyone crashing into each other until one person survives?

Three, you missed Climax.

Managed a 4th place finish in Grand Prix behind three Japanese players, which I was pretty happy with. Give me BS content and SP modes and irs day one for me, loving it so far.

Yesssssssssssss! I hope the arcade mode is something akin to the original with an offline mode and a normal field of cars.

@JohnnyMind might actuallybbe my fave of the GBA games as well.

I love the trend for picking up old games and giving them something new. For why leave something good like that to rot?

@NomDragon Because it ends after four laps. The survival mode games figure to go until the last man standing. 20 laps if it's still five eliminations per lap, and who knows if that'll still be the mechanic

Call it wishful thinking, but if we get something akin to Crash Team Racing's Ring Rally mode, that's all I'll be playing.

This has been the best way to get F-Zero back into the public consciousness as a racer. Now if Nintendo actually does make a new game, it'll be way more than just people on sites like this that care.

More content sounds a great idea!
