It's sad that people complain about the price but still buy these sports games at full cost, despite the games being basically a roster/music upgrade pack from the prior year's version.
I'm really surprised this game got a sequel. It looks cool but I really don't know the demand for it, and it's definitely getting buried by a very busy fall release schedule.
The more I see about PLZA, the more charming and interesting it gets. Pokemon may never look like the prettiest game, but they do excel at raw fun and enjoyment.
I just can't tell the difference between 30 & 60fps, so this doesn't matter to me. As long as the game runs well and load times aren't too egregious then it's a win. Sadly the game will almost certainly be a key-card because Square Enix sucks.
I've beaten it three times and once with the true ending. Did a run back in April/May so I'm satisfied. Currently, I lent it to a friend (I have the physical version), so I won't have time to get it back from them for another play-through before Silksong releases.
Nintendo really needs to release digital sales data, considering how much more digital the ratio will be for this new generation. MK World seems kinda low on that list until you realize that's just the physical sales.
Lots of other really big changes too in the upcoming season running thru Nov2025. The re-introduction of remote trading after it was tried out in Beta years ago, three of the final missing Megas prior to ZA (only the Mewtwos are missing and will probably be held off until a big event in 2026), Keldeo returns, another Wild Area Safari Event, at least 4 new GMax forms - Eevee, Garbador, Duraludon, Grimsnarl. And rumors of other things too - Mimikyu's debut for Halloween, new incubators that will be used for Manaphy & Phione, and Paradox forms! This is probably the best time to return to the game in years.
@Anti-Matter Honestly sometimes adapting fringe Nintendo franchises are better than trying for the mainline series. An Arms movie could have some insane potential.
Is Silksong truly THAT game, the GTA of Indies? For many, no. But for some, absolutely yes (including myself). The original Hollow Knight is one of the most layered games I've played that can elicit such a wide variety of reactions, from hating it to being the greatest game of all time. It's a game that's much deeper than what appears on the surface and really has to click with a player before it feels magical. You can also beat the game totally normally and completely miss out on so much of the story and world. Silksong is that rare sequel that looks like lightning will actually strike twice.
There are things Nintendo does better and things Sony does better. But these are corporate entities, they don't really serve goodwill to their fanbases any better or worse than each other.
This might just be the best news I've seen about game key-cards. Don't know if it will help end the problem though. I'm still not buying them, will never support a crappy practice.
The recent announcement was fine, we finally got the date and that's what really matters. Practically no spoilers which was nice. However I'm not giving Team Cherry a pass on their near-total silence for the past 6 years. It doesn't matter the reason, what Team Cherry did to their fan was awful and should not be commended. The fans were asking for the bare minimum of information and they got nothing in return, minus the random cryptic comments from Leth who was an external marketing partner. I think it's perfectly ok just to reinform that a game is still being worked on every once in a while and maybe provide brief updates. Doesn't have to be much, like a new character frame, a song clip, or just a basic programming/developer life update like every few months. Toby Fox's occasional/quarterly development blogs through Undertale's development is the gold standard on how to keep a fanbase updated without spoiling the game's contents in a long development cycle.
What's more frustrating is Team Cherry were not like this before. During the development of the OG Hollow Knight, they were very open on their development practices. It's sad that they felt like they had to do a 180 on communications. Yes, you always have the handful of fans that would be ungrateful no matter how you communicate, but we should not be praising TC's current silence practices no matter how good their games may be. A few angry fans should not deter the cries of an entire fanbase.
Not counting ports or enhanced versions, there's only like four Switch 2 games out right now at the time of this article release/comment (MK World, DK Bananza, Welcome Tour, and DragXDrive).
@ear_wig @Wewewi You both really don't understand the true potential of Kirby Air Riders. This is going to be a full experience and is well worth the price, especially with Sakurai behind the helm. But hey, if you don't wanna buy it, you don't have to you can just vote with your wallets.
Games are just gonna be $70 for the Switch 2 console generation. That's just how it is as it's the modern standard for gaming prices. Considering the $60 price was set back around 2007 and the rising cost of game development, $70 is not too inflated of a price to pay for a AAA experience. Not all $70 games are deserving of their price tag though and there are cheaper games that definitely should be worth more (like Hollow Knight at $15).
@MocawNow It's coming to Switch 1 and all modern platforms. Hopefully we get the full news blowout tomorrow on release date, pricing, physical/digital, etc.
This is my dream game. I've always clamored for a Kirby Air Ride 2 but as a joke, never thought we'd actually get it. And it looks fantastic! I'm all in, I'm buying a Switch 2 just for this game alone. It's gonna be my whole personality. Even changed my profile pic for this game. I have one ask, don't know if it's going to happen but I'd love for Adeleine to be a playable racer.
Gotta talk about that ending, there's lore implications with that final character! Don't wanna go spoilers but IFKYK.
This waiting game of 2025 has been agonizing and weird. But this week is finally paying off all my frustrations! First we get the Kirby title of my dreams, then my most awaited game of all time. I think I've won!
Great way to inject a taste of this game now before the release in November! I hope Nintendo does this with all their upcoming releases, a fantastic way to market!
This game, like Mario Strikers BL Switch, needed court variety. Give us power-ups, obstacles, terrain effects. People can always default to the base game mode if the competitive scene gets serious (like in Smash Bros).
This was a really good presentation with an excellent diversity of fun and unique-looking games. My only gripe is that the ending did not include the "one more thing", but really it's a pacing issue rather than disliking the quality of games shown. Nothing really for me but that's fine.
Also to address the elephants in the room, Hades II and Silksong are too big for this event and would unfairly steal the spotlight from the rest of the games shown. Nintendo already has plans for them both, and will actually be featuring them at their upcoming booths at Gamescom and possibly PAX West.
Good for them I guess? I don't know if this is a good thing or if this will make their reviews of gaming tech and performance seem more pretentious and elitist?
Hot take - Pokemon Legends ZA is my most anticipated game right now because it actually has a concrete release date. I don't know why the rest of Nintendo has gone allergic to providing information about release dates.
I would like to see new indies, specifically ones that take advantage of Switch 2 capabilities. I don't think we'll see Silksong because it's too big and will steal the spotlight from other games. Mina is also unlikely since it's already been dated for an Oct 31st release and confirmed for Nintendo platforms. The only big name and likely the closer is Hades II. Friday Night Funkin would be nice but I don't think the team was able to negotiate a deal with Nintendo from what was previously mentioned.
