I’ve been convinced to hold off. It’s $100 CAD for me that’s hard to justify at the moment. I’ll wait a couple years for a used copy to pop up. I actually just grabbed a pre-owned copy of Arceus the other day for $40 CAD!

Switch 2 edition is already pre-ordered! I’m ready.

I’m waiting for reviews and general public opinion first. I’ll probably pick it up eventually though.

Think I’d rather just play Arceus again which is much more interesting to me on practically every level. Wish they’d made another game in that vein.

I am, already have it preorder. Always did have a soft spot for this series and that never changed no matter how bad things got.

I pre-ordered my physical Switch 2 edition back at the end of July. Only reason I waited so long was to see which store I wanted to get it through, both to get it the soonest, and for the best pre-order bonus. Ended up going with Best Buy. Really looking forward to this game! Probably gonna stay up stupid late Thursday playing it 💀

Gonna pass, the newer Pokemon games have left me disappointed since the 3DS era. Arceus was decent but wasn't enough to draw me back in. I need to see more evolution from Game freak (no pun intended). Plus the CAD price is $99 for the Switch 2 version and I'd rather spend my money on the upcoming Metroid Prime 4.

I've already pre-ordered my copy, just a couple of more days, and I can't wait to dive into a new Pokémon adventure. I already decided that I will be picking Tepig as my starter Pokémon (debating if I should call it Bacon or not).

@larryisaman Details on a third Legends game were part of a massive wave of leaks yesterday, and while it's entirely likely things change (the original planned followup to Legends Arceus was a Johto game set in the past), it does seem like they intend for it to adhere more closely to Legends Arceus, but set even further back in the past and not in one of the Japan-inspired regions.

I personally do hope they push Legends as a subseries where basically anything can be on the table in terms of setting/time period and gameplay, but I can't fault anyone for wanting them to more directly build on what Legends Arceus established

I will keep an eye on secondhand sites to see if this ever gets to be 40-50% off. Then I might get it.

I have 3 physical copies pre-ordered for Switch 2. One for myself, my birthday happens to be the 16th, and 2 for my kids to put away until Christmas, when they’ll get their Switch 2s.

My expectations for Pokémon have been dulled over the years but I still enjoy the games and expect to have some fun with ZA.

I promise I'm not trying to be overly rude or anything, but I just don't understand why anyone above the age of 12 would actively support Pokemon. They have consistently proven that they do not care about releasing a polished product, and they will do as little as possible while charging as much as they can. If they start losing money on projects, they would actually have an incentive to put effort into their products. It almost seems like some people feel like they HAVE to buy the new pokemon game every single time

I’ve shown some interest in this game. Haven’t played Arceus but I’m in the mood for a new Pokemon game. It definitely won’t be day one or probably within a week, but I’ll get it eventually. On Switch 2 of course.

@Navi there’s a good deal of genuine artistry in the teams that make these games. the character designers at game freak are excellent and bring so much historical inspiration into the pokémon designs and lore. that and it’s just a fun gameplay loop that’s grown so expansive. recent games, while unpolished, have offered the best gameplay experience of the series to date, with Legends Arceus being genuinely terrific and Scarlet and Violet (specifically the switch 2 update, as it’s actually plays smoothly) is incredibly fun with some high highs. the games aren’t innovative or groundbreaking, but they’re typically a pretty good time if you find yourself connecting to the general vibe

Already Preordered and just waiting for it to be unlocked, gosh it sounds amazing and my favorite reviewer also has very glowing words about the game. Had been hearing from people who already got it too and gooooooooooosh, sounds very fun. I can't wait!!

I have the Switch 2 edition pre-ordered at Best Buy and I took Thursday off from work. Looking forward to it.

I think it's the first game in the series I'll skip. Everything about it looks so terribly cheap and they got rid of the only thing that kept me from abbadoning the series, exploring a new region.

I dunno. I have a physical preorder, but I’m having second thoughts. Reviews have been middling and I’ve been burned by Pokémon enough times. It’s not like I won’t be able to find a copy later.

One big thing for me: the most exciting part of Mega Evolutions was Pokémon getting new, powerful Abilities. But Legends games don’t have Abilities, so are Megas really back? Ehhhhhh…

Probably not 😔 I never finished Arceus, and Z-A doesn’t really look interesting. Here’s hoping Wind & Wave are the revolution the series deserves! 🤞

Hell to the no.

This game really hits all the right chords for me. Gen 2 starters, mega evolutions, the redefined Legends gameplay, and a resolution to the Kalos saga that has been left hanging for 12 years. But this might just be the final Pokemon game I get and it's really only for the nostalgia factor. Prior to this, the last Pokemon games I got were Legends Arceus, Pokemon X, and Pokemon Heartgold.

Nah. I've decided I'm just completely done with modern mainline Pokémon games. They may still win me over if they ever get their act together properly over there with these games, but until then, I'll just be playing generation 1 to 5 instead of I ever feel that itch for mainline Pokémon.

I loved Lumiose City on the 3DS so I'm interested to see the new spin on it here on the Switch 2!

I've never played any Pokemon games. When the first ones came out in the 1990s, I was a teenager and they felt like kids' games to me, so I never got on board the Pokemon train. And now that I'm in my forties, I feel it's a bit too late to get into them anymore. I've got the Monster Hunter Stories and Persona games to scratch that monster-collecting JRPG itch when it hits.

First I should get Arceus, and if I like it, I might give this one a try. On sale, of course. Never gonna pay full price for a Pokemon game! Not until they start taking the franchise seriously.

@Supadav03 happy birthday for tomorrow! I have a Switch2 and MK World tucked away for my son for Christmas. He’s been playing a lot of Splatoon 3 and Pokemon recently, but what he’s really excited for is the new Hyrule Warriors game, so I’ll probably get that too before December 25th. I’m saving for my own Switch2, but I want my son to enjoy having it first so I don’t mind waiting till next year ☺️

Not because I think physical is bad per se, but it's very clear that the capacity AND load speed can't withstand the more recent, larger games. Which means, If demand is this High, The whining is going to continue for many years... 😐
Please join the modern era and make the change to digital.

Never played a Pokemon game, getting this for my kid.

@Navi For the majority of people, the negativity and anti-Nintendo / anti-Pokemon propaganda that is doing circuits these days Does. Not. Matter. At. All.

We have disposable income and make decisions ourselves, completely unaffected by the aforementioned. Nobody who buys a game they want should be belittled for it, that's insanity.

Might get it at some point, but I'm in no hurry. I'll wait and see if the DLC brings what should be in the main game, first. And I'll only get it if there's a hefty discount somewhere. Amazon usually goes low at some point. I'd say at least a 30% discount or more. Otherwise, I'll just skip it.

Looking forward to picking it up tomorrow. For all those who are playing, I hope you enjoy it too.

At close to $100 in my local currency, this is an easy pass for me. I´d probably have picked it up day 1 at $60, but apparently some of my money isn´t good enough for the games industry anymore.

It feels like Nintendo are running into a spot of bother lately. I am seeing a lot of fatigue with Switch. This is a good example... the market is already saturated with relatively recent, relatively similar Pokemon games. Rolling out another average game just isn't going to work... it's like you caught us with this last time, and we're not going to buy the same thing again. It needed to be better.

I genuinely fear Metroid Prime 4 is going to get the same response. We've had two incredible Metroid games, by Metroid release timeliness historically they are both REALLY recent releases too, and Prime 4 is looking like yet more of the same.

There's definitely fatigue.

Nope, I haven't bought a main series Pokemon game since Shield and this doesn't look appealing to me in the slightest.

I'm pretty much done with Pokemon now. It's clear quality is not a priority for TPCi and Game Freak.

Probably the only new game that could get me to throw some money at the series again would be a new Pokemon Mystery Dungeon. I'd trust Spike Chunsoft to do a good job with that.

My Pokemon binge queue is large enough that outside it I may invest in the first new flagship release I catch (like Moon on 3DS and Sword on Switch) at most. But the Legends games are definitely bound to land in my collection at some point, both in their Gen 9 incarnations since Z-A's NS2 version doesn't seem to offer anything above par.

Ive only ever played Pokémon Shining Pearl and it was fine. I thought about trying this but there are other games I want to try first

I’ve canceled my preorder on this. This is the most confined a main Pokémon adventure has looked, the gameplay itself looks ok but I’m going to wait and see. Probably wait until there’s dlc all included as well with hopefully some new areas to explore.

Never got into pokemon. The only game I own is Moon, it came with my 2ds xl. Played it for a bit, wouldnt say its bad but lost interest pretty quickly.
Overall I believe the pokemon games are a bit of a rip off, low effort and maximum profit - businesswise it makes sense, still tho.... Lol

Gonna ask for it for Xmas.

For the price of this game, I can get multiple games I want more for Steam Deck.

Maybe once we get a combined game and dlc on one cart relesse, but even then I'm iffy, it just feels so constrained compared to Arceus, and the environments somehow look worse.

The poll needs 'Waiting for a sale' and 'Waiting for a physical edition with dlc included on cart' options.

Ofcourse! Now that I have seen Switch 1 version of the game, it really hit me how incredible the game is! The extra power of Switch 2 really makes the game come to life, not saying that Switch 1 version looks bad. Every little detail pops out so perfectly and makes the city seem like a real living place!

Eventually when I nab a Switch 2, but I'm good in the monster catching department for now. Not only did I recently start Pokemon Scarlet for the first time, but there are also other games in the genre I wanna try. Namely Monster Hunter Stories 2 (demo downloaded) and Digimon Story Cyber Sleuth: Complete Edition (backlogged).

If people still enjoy playing Pokemon, so be it. There's nothing wrong with that and they shouldn't be shamed for it. If you don't like the games, that's fine, nothing wrong with that, but it's a tired argument that pokemon is a game for kids. Also not everyone cares about the anti-TPC commentary or can still enjoy playing games in spite of valid criticisms. I don't care if a grown man was playing Hello Kitty Island Adventure. Let people enjoy things. We need to normalize just not like something without bashing the fan base.

Very excited! Pre-ordered and downloaded. I'm glad they didn't just forget about Kalos and I hope it has a good resolution to the story. Though I love Johto and sad we didn't get the supposed leaked legends Johto but maybe they'll revisit it copium

I do have the Switch 1 physical preordered but I don't see myself playing it day 1 as I'm still working my way through DK Bananza.

@darkfenrir Maybe, but mostly it’ll just be an Ability-less game. The hacked game data for the new megas just shows the same Abilities their normal forms have.

I was into the aesthetic and locale, but honestly after they announced DLC well before the game was even out AND decided to lock some mega stones behind competitive, my interest has almost completely died.

Getting the Switch 1 physical version for the superior box art and then purchasing the Switch 2 upgrade.

Models and textures are Wii / GC level. Not good enough.

A little sad to say I have no plans to buy this. It's the first one that I consider to be somewhat mainstream that I've not bought at launch. I fell off hard on the switch era, like a lot of others for similar reasons.

I do still have violet to play through on my switch 2, even to this day I've only managed about an hour of gameplay in it. Maybe if I can get through that, I might move on eventually...

I voted for Switch 1 version, then remembered I actually ordered the Switch 2 version because it's cross-compatible with the original Switch (I don't have a S2 yet). Anyway, I'm not sure whether I'll like this game as much as Arceus but I'm looking forward to finding out!

Been playing ZA since Saturday and those who pre-ordered the game are in for a massive deception.
Map is so small. No biome. Not much to explore. Fake sense of freedom.

Game is really not 70$ fun. Nor 50$ fun. I can't believe the game got 81on metacritic... It performs well on switch 1 but in terms of gameplay, it's probably one of the worst Pokemon ever made.

What you said is right. TPC and Nintendo don't give a $#&@ about the fans, cause these people will buy the trashiest Pokemon game anyway. Legends ZA will prove that again. Game is NOT good! It's not worth the 70$ price tag, I can say it cause Ive been playing for 15hours

Prices don't go down much for physical and even small physical pre-order items add value. That's why I pre-order.

It was one of the games I set aside money for alongside the Switch 2 since the beginning of this year.

@poudigne well I don't wanna be that extreme 😅 the company isn't evil by any means, especially when compared to other gaming companies. Microsoft just laid off literally thousands of employees for seemingly no reason other than to boost profit. I truly think TPC has simply found the bare minimum required for people to buy their games. And until people decide the bar should be set higher, the quality seen here is what we'll see forever. That's why my original comment was asking why people (besides children who just want a fun game) keep investing in them

So it turns out the reason the buildings look more geometrically basic than an N64 game is because GameFreak load the entire city into memory, and the game needs to run on Switch 1 so they can’t have more geometry. Recent leaks show early prototypes with more detailed buildings but it ran even worse, so instead of modern optimisations they went this route.

From a programmer perspective, and someone who writes game engines from scratch, this is amateurish. It’s ridiculous. But hey, it sells. Kudos to GF for pulling off another cheaply produced premium priced cash grab. They are really good at it.

Edit: Now having played it, I must admit to being wrong. There’s technical reasons for this apparent when playing it and moving around the city given the vantage points possible. It’s a technical tradeoff but it does make sense given it needs to run on Switch 1, I think

They put in as little resources as possible, knowing it'll still sell like hotcakes.

Now I've been there since day one, skipped a few entries here and there — but unless they start to take some risks or actually bump up the quality to... 2015 standards, my money goes elsewhere.

Until Pokemon actually puts effort into the game to make it more advanced than a PS2 game and worth the price they are charging I'm just not going to get the games anymore. They aren't good games no matter how much I like Pokemon

Arceus is the only pokemon game I’ve enjoyed in decades, but it doesn’t look anything like arceus.

@R_Ryder Legends Arceus is the best of the Switch games. Sun /Moon is the best of the last 10 years. Black 2 / White 2 is the best of the last 20 years. However, Pokemon is designed as a social thing, so many of these old games features are defunct and you will never get the full experience. If you want to get into Pokemon, the latest game is the right choice, even if the previous entries were way better.

Just feels wrong to not have it in the collection.
