People just dropped at least $450 for a new system and likely more when you account for accessories. The only true new game was Mario Kart World which is probably the only game people really wanted to buy (and at $80 if you weren't lucky to get the bundle or are a physical collector). All things considered, that's a lot of money. People aren't able to buy more than just a few games with higher prices and people aren't going to waste their money on digital or key-cards when other games are physical and offer a better deal.
@NolandC Extremely little chance Switch 1 could run DK Bonanza natively. The Switch 1 is exhausting its ability to run games due to the limited and ancient processing power that it's been chugging along with. Take Zelda TOTK for example which is probably the most demanding game the Switch 1 runs somewhat successfully. TOTK had long load times, would significantly dropping frames, and even overheating and it was barely 30 FPS when running somewhat smoothly. Compared to Zelda TOTK, there's so much more visually & particle-wise going on with DK Bonanza and the terrain terraforming that it would tank the Switch 1's ability to potentially run it. Not saying it's impossible but the game would look like a potato slide show on the previous console.
As for how game share works, it's a video feed projected onto the Switch 1 tablet while still accepting button inputs, aka streaming the game. I wonder how the feedback on the input lag would be?
@Johnny44 100% agree. I can spend hours with dumb mouse and paint apps. I'm almost certainly buying DK Bonanza (when I can afford a Switch 2) but I'd like a paint app where I can share, edit, and upload my own creations and those of others.

I hope we get some new/unknown actors to play Link, Zelda, and the younger characters. This could be a golden opportunity to discover new talent and for people to get their big break.
For Ganondorf (90% likely he would be in the story unless they go with an original villain), I'd really like to see an arabian/middle-eastern actor play the part. The Gerudo are heavily inspired by this culture so it would be extremely fitting. I'd like to see either Fares Fares (Wheel of Time) or Dar Salim (The Covenant) play the part. Christopher Judge should be considered for an alt pick, he has the build and gravitas for the role but not the ethnicity. The Hollywood pick would probably be Dave Bautista or Jason Momoa.
I'm glad Nintendo made Mario Kart World as weird as they did. Because it exists alongside MK8 which is just as readily available for the Switch 2 and people are going to play both games. I wonder based on this how Nintendo will bring over Smash Bros to the new console.
Xbox has partnered with ROG Ally to produce a handheld and Sony is rumored to follow and do the same. The console wars never died, they simply just evolved
Japan usually accounts for anywhere between 20-33% of total sales for games/hardware. So if the hardware prediction for Switch 2 is supposed to be ~20 million worldwide by 31Mar2026, that means it could possibly surpass the PS5 in the Japanese market in under a year. Practically 1 million new consoles sold in the first weekend is a very strong start for the Switch 2 to hitting projections.
From tech reviewers and damage testers, it seems like the screen quality is pretty cheap and scratches really easily. That's a bigger concern. I never put on a screen protector for my Switch 1 but if I do get a Switch 2, that's something I'm doing immediately
I don't know why people were saying it was a quiet launch. Lots of people I knew ended up getting the system and several others are interested to buy it eventually. The demand is definitely there and the data, sales lines, and receipts are present to prove it. Whatever numbers Nintendo puts out in the first month (it could well be 6 million +) will be match during Nov/Dec. There's no question this thing is gonna be a 20 million seller out the gate in its first year.
There's a reason why Nintendo moved on to Kevin Afghani to be the voice of Mario (and the rest of the casting). There's a number of theories why the role was passed on, from contract endings to wanting new talent to physical inability to voice the roles. Regardless, we should still respect Charles Martinet's privacy and legacy with the role. Hopefully we get an answer one day.
This is cool news! But with this dropping in Social Media news and the Legends ZA release info too last week, I have a bad feeling Nintendo doesn't wanna do a proper summer direct anymore this year. SMH
The console might be dead out the gate when consumers see the price. Ultimately it actually might help the Switch 2. There's no way this thing is selling for anywhere less than $600
Nintendo is going to market their evergreen and bundle titles for $80, including Mario Kart, the next 3D Mario platformer, Smash Bros, Zelda, etc because they know you're gonna buy those games regardless. Those are the games that sell systems, which is how Nintendo is really going to move Switch 2 units. These titles will be cheaper as packaged bundles but will also go on sale often, so don't worry about the higher price tag.
@fenlix I guess, but I also know many people who are still waiting to receive their console or haven't had much play time. Plus this will give users enough time to test with multiple games. I think this poll would have been better ran a week after launch.
@VeganHerpes I wouldn't know, sorry. Don't own the controller (I've only used a friend's) nor do I own the Switch 2. I assume there's probably a way to make it work but it would need some 3rd party device wizardry
Seriously, the lack of Analog triggers on the Pro 2 controller makes this a no-buy for me. Really sucks that Nintendo couldn't add that feature. I'd say as of now the PS5 controller still is the best main controller in the market.

It's really a shame how Nintendo fails to properly give people, developers, and previous workers the credit they deserve.

Please don't patch this! This is easily the greatest glitch in TOTK to date!

It's kinda funny that Switch 1 sales are still pretty much matching up with PS5 sales

@NolandC Thru game share, yes
