Nintendo's being weird again. It's time for a Direct!

This is absolute madness. Prices for consoles are supposed to go down, not up. If Nintendo chooses to increase the price, they could completely derail the sales momentum of the new console and burn consumer goodwill. People are already angry at higher game prices, this will just make things worse.

I should probably start hunting the Kirby Air Riders amiibo, heard they might have dropped to a low price of...$40! What a steal! Let's be real, one of those should have come packaged with the game.

Holiday has passed, and while global sales were weaker (economy has been rough y'all!), Nintendo's home market remained strong. The Switch 2 looks like it can have legs, there will be later adapters (like myself, still waiting to buy), people buying 2nd systems/special editions. There will still be other models too, like the enhanced model and lite model. It might not hit the heights like the OG Switch, but it's going to be a farcry from the Wii U & Gamecube. IF I had to do a prediction on sales numbers based on the data so far, likely 90 million lifetime would probably be close.

I'll give her a chance, it's only fair to judge after seeing a trailer at the very least. Sophie keeps getting cast in big roles but doesn't really have the acting chops to pull it off. At best, it's probably going to be on the same level as the Tom Holland Uncharted movie, a fun watch but a weak performance/adaptation.

Trying to adapt Lara Croft in the modern day is near-impossible. Nothing is going to match the original magic of the 90s games & Angelina Jolie movies, but those were made in a completely different era.

This twitter direct appetizer is getting me hungry for a full fat direct, hope we get one real soon! Nintendo's been extremely strange and quiet with their marketing this Switch 2 generation so hopefully things go back to normal with the next Direct and media push.

It's weird that DQ VII was next in line to be "remade", especially since they got 3DS ports (but that was also like 10 years ago, lol I feel old). The heavy rumors said that IX was next in the pipeline and VIII has always been the fan favorite, but I guess those were not to be. I also imagine DQ IV-VI are gonna get HD-2D treatments down the line.

@SuppressorSteve Don't think that's quite right there, might be some correlation but probably not that strong. And there's still a very high demand for physical games (especially 1st party titles), I don't think that's going away for a long time even though physical media is dying. However, that's more a corporate decision rather than the will of the consumers.

The Switch was never a hub for video streaming. Nintendo could have leveraged it as such, but focusing it as a game-specific console was probably the right move. Still, would have been nice to see Netflix and other services make their way to the platform

Finally diving into the PLZA DLC, it's interesting

The only hope for MP4 is the American market IF it sold well there, which initial reports don't seem too positive although we don't have concrete numbers. Matt Piscatella is probably the best source but that is still coming. It hardly registered in the Japanese market and didn't make a dent in the UK/EU markets.

I know Metroid historically doesn't sell well but even by previous metrics the sales numbers for MP4 doesn't hold up. I think it's time to call it as it is, MP4 was a flop.

Glad to hear! I heard rumors of DLC but it's cool to see them formally confirmed. I won't be hooked on the news cycle for the game though, but I'll definitely buy the physical whenever the DLC finishes and that launches, probably in 2027.

The 2025 awards were too predictable. All games deserved their win, EXCEPT CO33 for best "indie" game. That's a crime against indie developers and the industry should be ashamed at itself for letting this happen.

Easily the biggest W of the night

Metroid Prime 4 might be Nintendo's most expensive flop. Even they didn't believe in the game, it got no marketing and was shoved in the tail of 2025 for a release.

If you're a Nintendo fan, do yourself a favor and skip the awards or let it play in the background while you do something else. It's a waste of your time. It's a 4-hr commercial where you can watch or read about the highlights the next morning in 10 minutes. There's not going to be any Nintendo game news other than DK Bananza winning best family game and MK World winning best racing/sports game.

Nintendo's on some juice today with Rayman & Wario

Solid start for Metroid Prime 4. Expected figures since Nintendo flopped marketing the game. Also not surprised it's mostly Switch-2 leaning, it feels like a next-gen game. I'll also probably buy the S2 version since that's backwards compatible.

Legends ZA. I beat the story this past week. Now it's time to do a bunch of the extras and side-quests. Had a late start but luckily I'll be caught up before the DLC launches next week.

@YunoboCo Sakurai has strangely never been a fan of Adeleine & Ribbon. They didn't even get spirit representation in Smash Bros Ultimate

With all these acquisitions and mega corporate mergers, the hardworking employees and consumers are the ones who ultimately suffer. Also, another justification to sail the high seas, ifkyk.

More DK content coming to MK World is an inevitability. I'm curious how big the DK dlc will be for MK World. And will it be free or paid?

I'd buy the Switch 2 if I could for Kirby Air Riders alone, but I'm not in a place where I can do that now. However, I'm fortunate to have a solid backlog on Switch 1 to keep me occupied for a while.

Unfortunately AI is something almost everyone will be using. It's an inevitability. Even Nintendo, who's usually last to pursue current tech trends, will probably adopt the use of AI one day. Sadly, there are no proper guidelines on AI which is what truly makes it dangerous. People really need to learn responsible and ethical use of this technology.

Those reviews are pretty rough for a game that cooked as long as it did. Perhaps it's being served a little overdone?

While I'm waiting to buy a Switch 2, I'll probably buy the Switch 2 cart of MP4. Also I highly doubt this game is getting DLC.

@TrueBlueYoshi Hale only partially voiced Samus in the Prime games (it was a mix of female VAs) and Samus herself never has had a true dedicated voice actress.

Also nice to see that Nintendo is actually giving full and proper credit to people who developed the game.

Glad to see this one reviewing well, but it also doesn't seem to blow the lid off the franchise like BOTW did for Zelda. Maybe that's ok though
