Maybe I'm stupid but I don't understand how a region-locked unit is any cheaper. Isn't it like the same hardware components? And can't the region-locking be bypassed with a firmware patch nowadays?
This is probably the closest we'll get to an official Pokemon "maker" game. Hopefully the game allows for creation of towns and routes. I'm also excited to see people re-create entire Pokemon regions.
I'm not getting this game regardless, but Nintendo's decisions this generation are seriously hurting physical media. Game-Key cards are the worst of both worlds, you still don't own the game and it lacks the flexibility of true digital games.
@bosh I've seen them in the wild, but the majority general populace still has yet to buy the system. That initial 10 million are mostly die-hard fans and early adopters. The real test is this holiday and next year to see how the momentum keeps or fades
I just got a new cell phone recently and it made me think how long my Switch has outlasted my other electronic devices. In the 8 years I've owned my Switch, I've gotten a new computer, upgraded phones 3 times, and gotten a new car. Only now am I considering buying a next-gen console.
Switch will probably top out at a respectable 155 million units sold, but few are buying the old console especially with the stupid price hike.
As for Switch 2, it's too hard to say how long the momentum will last but it's going and the upcoming holiday sales will be a good indicator of how popular the console will be for casual gamers.
Game data for "Switch 2 editions" is going to be very weird. Also, it's pretty wild we've only had two major 1st party Nintendo Switch 2 titles up to this point.
@UltimateOtaku91 It's kinda weird it was revealed randomly as a shadow-drop and not in a Direct. But Nintendo not having their traditional June/summer direct really messed up the reveal/hype cycle.
These games are quite overpriced at $60, they are practically NES games with a new coat of paint. Should have been the full trilogy at $60. People give Nintendo a bad rap for overcharging but this is just as bad.
I finally got to the part in Legends ZA where I can free roam and low-key, it's fantastic. If the next game combines the cities from ZA and natural environments & battles from Arceus and can cleanup the graphics and performance, it would be amazing.
The Pokemon company was very hesitant with Nintendo during the Wii U/3DS era, and they delayed their partnership for plans for the Switch. This crunched and messed up development timelines. It really feels like Pokemon's been phoning it in for the entire Switch generation.
Not worth the price though. The full trilogy for $60/$70 on current-gen is more reasonable. Thankfully SE discounts Dragon Quest games pretty frequently
@skolvuk Thank goodness. I just started playing Legends ZA, I'm just so busy with life priorities. Very small chance I'll make it for Greninja by the end of this 1st season.
I'll get it alongside Kirby Air Riders when I get a Switch 2. However, I keep delaying my Switch 2 purchase and I probably won't get the console until next year at this point or before a price hike.
I almost question $50 as the asking price - for one that's pretty darn expensive. But on the other hand, minifigure costs have skyrocketed and that's not a terrible price. You could buy half a Switch 2 for the same price as the 5 amiibo for this game. Also they will still sellout and be stupidly hard to attain, especially Meta Knight.
Metroid 4 needs a Direct. Will I watch it - no. But the marketing for this game has been terrible and it could use something to appeal to the mass audience like Air Riders and Bananza did previously.
9/10, fantastic and I'm only deducting a point because it might have been a little too much info, some of the surprises should have been saved for the game itself. But honestly I could have also listened to Sakurai talk about gaming for hours. Perhaps it's selfish to ask him for anything more, but my ONLY request for the game is to include Adeleine & Ribbon in some capacity, even if they are just NPCs.
That's really refreshing in this day and age. Nice to have a complete game at launch, and it looks to be rich with content. Well worth the price, and I could probably spend 100s of hours in it.
Just finished my 2nd run of Silksong so I'm ready to dive into Legends ZA finally. I'm rooting for ZA to succeed because Pokemon really needs to invest in original ideas and this shows that the company is trying. The games have been graphically & technically sub-par but the themes and ideas are still creative and fun, which is why I still more or less come back to the series even after all these years.
6/10, yikes (technically a 7/10 if you consider the Switch 2 version)! That's quite a step down from NL's review of Legends Arceus which came in at a 9/10.
@CaptainTempest I really hope not. That would seriously be a blow to the game. I'm in no rush to pick it up, will probably do it sometime next week but I don't wanna rush my experience.
The biggest marketing push for the ROG Ally Xbox was a Silksong trailer during (not E3) summertime. Which people probably forgot about because Silksong already came out on other platforms already over a month ago, and almost nobody's gonna play it on this device unless it's through Steam or GamePass.
This game really hits all the right chords for me. Gen 2 starters, mega evolutions, the redefined Legends gameplay, and a resolution to the Kalos saga that has been left hanging for 12 years. But this might just be the final Pokemon game I get and it's really only for the nostalgia factor. Prior to this, the last Pokemon games I got were Legends Arceus, Pokemon X, and Pokemon Heartgold.
After the evidence by Pikmin enthusiasts, absolutely. But Pikmin or not, what is this for? And the animation quality looks good but very generic character models (where's the Nintendo style?).
