Re: Opinion: We Need More Couch Co-op RPGs

I’d love to see more co-op in RPGs.
I introduced my 7 year old daughter to not Pokemon as her first RPG but actually Casette Beasts because of the two player co-op. She was able to control her own ‘mon’ and using me as a safety blanket, took her time to learn the mechanics of the game without fear of failing. Also tested her reading skills. (She is not allowed to play games if she doesn’t want to read in them).
I hear Sea of Stars has a co-op so will introduce that to my player 2 when she gets older

Glad to see Unicorn Overlord soaring ahead, would have been my first choice but went for Animal Well because I’m a sucker for good pixel art.
I just want to throw out some mentions to Pizza Tower and ANTONBLAST. Brilliant art styles and look amazing in motion.

@Pillowpants I completely agree, TBOI was one of the first roguelikes I’ve played and I’ve been chasing the dragon ever since. It introduced me to a whole genre and I have pretty much every decent roguelike/lite going but they still don’t deliver what Isaac can. I think the only comparable roguelikes in terms of replayability and quality are Slay the Spire and Monster Train. I know they’re very different games to Isaac but very well designed games/roguelikes.
Keep chasing those marks friend, there’s a great Isaac guide on app stores which is my goto.

I’ve racked up about 1300 hrs of playtime. The joys of being in unemployment for the most part of the year. Hours have gone right down now I’m back at work.
Balatro takes the win at 257 hrs.
Second place goes to Unicorn Overlord at 160 hrs
Third Place goes to SMTVengence at 130 hours.
The rest of the games are made up of all the brilliant action platformers we’ve been blessed with this year, Pizza Tower, Volgarr, Pepper Grinder, Shadow of the Ninja to name a small few.

My girls absolutely love the MVC collection. My youngest face (4yo) when she realised she’d found a game you could play without much thought in it. Her face even more when she realised she could win. Priceless

I never got round to finishing XC3 so I started a new play through last weekend and been having a great time with it and will continue on this weekend. I never realised the first time round, the huge level of scope in the world design. It’s such a lush game. Got the expansion pass for the full fat experience. I’m aiming to finish it this time 💪🏻
Happy gaming all

@LikelySatan
I think people are likely being put off by the price. I’m a fan boy of the Evil Dead and old retro horror classics so this was an instant purchase for me. The games play like clunky megadrive side scrollers and the pixel art is amazing, full of character and personality.
I’m very pleased that there will be more licensed games coming in the future and seeing the in-game arcade grow accordingly.
