I’d love to see more co-op in RPGs. I introduced my 7 year old daughter to not Pokemon as her first RPG but actually Casette Beasts because of the two player co-op. She was able to control her own ‘mon’ and using me as a safety blanket, took her time to learn the mechanics of the game without fear of failing. Also tested her reading skills. (She is not allowed to play games if she doesn’t want to read in them). I hear Sea of Stars has a co-op so will introduce that to my player 2 when she gets older
I bit the bullet on Turbo Overkill and I have no regrets. It runs superbly if anyone’s on the fence.
Will continue my play through of Ender Lillies with a bit of Isaac inbetween.
Happy gaming all
I impulse bought this, then realising I still had Ender Lillies to play through so currently going through that at the moment. The soundtrack and art style is just pure beauty so I’m looking forward to getting round to the sequel
If Switch 2 wasn’t BC, it would be DOA and quite possibly the most detrimental business decision ever made. BC is the selling point for me and it seems for everyone else too.
It’s a day one purchase from me. Can’t wait for that sexy piece of kit to be sat under my tv. So no definitely did not damage anything for me. The over-saturation of leaks however did damage the credibility of many journos. Click bait everywhere
I got my first cracked rating on ANTONBLAST this morning. It took some dedication. 11 more to go.
Going to chill with some Battle Brothers for the rest of the day though. Maybe play one of the many Capcom Fighting collections as i picked them all up over Xmas.
Happy gaming all x
Jim Carrey is Robotnik in the same way Hugh Jackman is Wolverine, irreplaceable. Great to hear he might stick with acting, his humour and over the top characterisation would be sorely missed.
Glad to see Unicorn Overlord soaring ahead, would have been my first choice but went for Animal Well because I’m a sucker for good pixel art. I just want to throw out some mentions to Pizza Tower and ANTONBLAST. Brilliant art styles and look amazing in motion.
As a post Christmas gift to myself, think I’ll grab a physical of DQ3. I am a sucker for these 2dHD style games. Interesting to see MHR still doing well but it has been on sale all year so probably something to do with it
@Pillowpants I completely agree, TBOI was one of the first roguelikes I’ve played and I’ve been chasing the dragon ever since. It introduced me to a whole genre and I have pretty much every decent roguelike/lite going but they still don’t deliver what Isaac can. I think the only comparable roguelikes in terms of replayability and quality are Slay the Spire and Monster Train. I know they’re very different games to Isaac but very well designed games/roguelikes. Keep chasing those marks friend, there’s a great Isaac guide on app stores which is my goto.
@Pillowpants The Binding of Isaac is digital crack. Recently picked it up again to try and clear some more marks. Pretty sure it’s my most played game of all time now
I’ve racked up about 1300 hrs of playtime. The joys of being in unemployment for the most part of the year. Hours have gone right down now I’m back at work. Balatro takes the win at 257 hrs. Second place goes to Unicorn Overlord at 160 hrs Third Place goes to SMTVengence at 130 hours. The rest of the games are made up of all the brilliant action platformers we’ve been blessed with this year, Pizza Tower, Volgarr, Pepper Grinder, Shadow of the Ninja to name a small few.
My girls absolutely love the MVC collection. My youngest face (4yo) when she realised she’d found a game you could play without much thought in it. Her face even more when she realised she could win. Priceless
@IronMan30 I second your opinion on Black Sabbath. They created a new genre of music by accident and paved the way for heavy metal and what it is today. I think any respectable metal artist would credit Sabbath as a key inspiration. Just like the Astro team has for Nintendo.
Amazing news, Monolith Soft are up there with the big boys IMO. Nintendo please get them to help Gamefreak out or even better, make Monolith Soft lead devs on Pokemon.
Ultimate by name, Ultimate by nature. What a crazy reveal, launch and following few years for Smash Ult. When you say it out loud, it is an inconceivable concept and an amazing achievement.
@Yalloo The RPG elements are extremely light, it’s all about the brutal combat in this one. Can be brutal to the point you’ll question whether you’re having fun but that’s down to personal preference. There’s a pretty dark and grown up story behind it as well so don’t be fooled by the anthropomorbphic characters
I never got round to finishing XC3 so I started a new play through last weekend and been having a great time with it and will continue on this weekend. I never realised the first time round, the huge level of scope in the world design. It’s such a lush game. Got the expansion pass for the full fat experience. I’m aiming to finish it this time 💪🏻 Happy gaming all
Now Nintendo has a huge player base for the Xenoblade games, I have no doubt this will lead into Y & Z sequels with some connection to the main series. I’m excited that the latest MMO-esque play test Nintendo did recently may be linked to XCX’s online functions.
Such great memories of ten year old me playing this. It was one of the first games where I took noticed of the narrative and helped me realise the potential of story telling in video games. I’m so tempted by this. Is there going to be a physical?
@Serpenterror @8bit4Life legends, thanks for the info dump! I got a feeling following quite possibly some massive sales for XCX, we may see those New Tokyo’s and New New York’s in future instalments. Very exciting times to be a Monolith Soft Fan!
Would someone kindly tell me if the story in X has any relation to the mainline series? I know they’re all separate stories with the most loose of connections but I’m interested nonetheless. Not that it matters, I will still be buying!
@LikelySatan I think people are likely being put off by the price. I’m a fan boy of the Evil Dead and old retro horror classics so this was an instant purchase for me. The games play like clunky megadrive side scrollers and the pixel art is amazing, full of character and personality. I’m very pleased that there will be more licensed games coming in the future and seeing the in-game arcade grow accordingly.
This week I purchased Retro Realms (double pack), Faith: The Unholy Trinity and Core Keeper so I’ll be busy playing them this weekend. Happy gaming everyone
World of Horror should be added. I’ve been playing that the last week. Won’t be everyone’s cup of tea gameplay wise but it’s steeped in horror funnily enough
Just to add to my comment in the Ash Vs. review. We are being utterly spoilt with the abundance of 8/16bit inspired action platformers. I’ve got Shadow of the Ninja, Moonrider, Iron Meat, Bzzzt, Volgarr 2 all in rotation with Pizza Tower on the side. Will be adding this horror duo to the collection soon.

Absolutely loved what I’ve played so far when it hasn’t crashed or had frame dips. Patiently waiting for the new patch. 🙏
