Noticed a lot of people mentioning the bad graphics. Look closely at them and compare to World Tour. They are basically ports of those versions. Gee thanks Nintendo for the lazy tracks.
Stardew tops the feel good list for me. Read and heard so many amazing personal stories of the game helping people with anxiety and depression, myself included. The one man developer deserves every cent he gets and then some.
Dying light 2 still don’t have nothing on The Binding of Isaac… I’ll probably play that game until I’m six feet under. Bury me with it and I’ll still have stuff to do 😁
Sales were pretty rad over the Christmas/new year period. So much so that I’ve made a resolution to not buy any more games until BOTW2 hopefully comes out this year… This weekend I’m determined to finish Aeon Drive (with the quickest times as well) and Deaths Gambit: Afterlife. I’ve been playing them in small sessions over the last month and I’m now in the final stretch. In between them, TBOI: Repentance has been keeping me very very busy.
Just picked this up, my mums not a gamer-gamer but she is a board game gamer. Hoping this creates some wonderful memories playing some new classic games with my ma 😁. Her favourite game ever is Chinese Checkers and am pleased to see this is on the compilation. Such a simple but strategic game and I recommend to all.
Happy new year fellow lovers of all things gaming/Nintendo. Anyone got any new year resolutions? Mine is to play through my never ending backlog before the BOTW2 release (hopefully) this year.
Kaze and the Wild Masks - A great (and cheaper) alternative to Donkey Kong: Tropical Freeze. Dreamscaper - haven’t played much of this but the premise intrigued me and I will sit down with it properly soon. Monster Train: First Class, If you’re a fan of Slay the Spire, this is another deck builder equally as brilliant as STS. This game got my longest playtime this year. Content for days. Lots and lots of strategic versatile play styles. It’s a 10/10 alongside STS. Curse of the Dead Gods - Has been compared to Hades but the only similarity is the top down camera perspective and that it’s a dungeon crawler roguelike. It’s very much it’s own game (compared to Hades at least) with its own systems and unique challenges like a parrying system, customisable load outs and lots and lots of curses and darkness😁. Blue Fire - A great 3D platformer. Very much felt like playing a game that was crossed between Dark Souls, Zelda and Hollow Knight. It has its faults and is far from perfect but devs have been listening and slowly improving the game. Has potential. There are some hardcore platforming challenges to be found here. Undermine - my latest pick up in the Christmas sales, it looks very nice. I’ve read from multiple sources that while it isn’t innovating in the slightest, it is a masterclass in rogue-like dungeon crawling.
Not quite a one sesh game, but “Exit the Gungeon“ is a lot lot lot shorter and compact than its predecessor. You can fully complete it in a around 4-5 hours.
This weekend I’ve been playing Celeste. I’ve already completed it a few times but this play through, Ich spiele mit Deutsch Sprache während ich Deutsch lerne. (:
I started playing at 5pm, only just finished at 11.30pm. Yep, it’s addictive. I expected a game like this to not control well with a game pad but it all works bloody marvellously. Also this is is the type of game like Slay the Spire, I say that in the sense that you can play at your own pace, can pause the game at will, giving you the time to think and it’s basically chill. Chill but challenging and engaging. And I love those type of games. Soundtrack slaps.
@Freek Did your daughter have any favourite moments? I’ll always remember when and where I was in my life when I first saw Evil Dead 2. One of the best
A game made by two people… I mean, you have Battlefields, Cods, FIFA’s and Pokemon’s, Grand Theft Autos and Cyberpunk 2077s and they all boast unfathomable budgets and huge teams and just all the resources they need to produce money grabbing, lifeless, boring, un-innovative and mostly broken games. But it’s the games like Deaths Door, made by dedicated, small, independent and budget limited game developers that put everything into it to make sure it is of the utmost quality. Well, what’s more original than that.
Ahh the generation of the real Console wars. And I’m talking about the battles that were fought on the school playground, the school bus and in your local park . The constant arguing, bickering, shouting at/with your mates, ‘but Xbox is so powerful and has Halo’, ‘GameCube has the finest shade of indigo and has REmake and a…carry handle???’, ‘PS2 has everything else’. Actually had to buy magazines back then to keep upto date on everything as well as playground rumours. What a time to be alive. GameCube was my fave (:
@BenAV Dude I’ve done the same with Repentance, I’ve started a brand new save file as well. TBOI is my most played game on the switch and quite possibly ever and Repentance will easily triple my play hours.
Other than The Binding of Isaac, I will be playing Disco Elysium, Tetris Effect and Smash Bros.
An action packed weekend for me! Everyone else enjoy their weekend 😁
While I’m yet to decide whether or not Sunless Sea is a scary game, I’d like to thank the reviewer for highlighting it because I had no idea this game existed and it’s the perfect type of game I’ve been looking for. From looking at reviews and a few comments from people on here, it’s also a great game. I’m looking forward to getting stuck in tonight. It reminds me a lot of my favourite (while not the scariest) horror game on the Switch, Darkwood. That game riddled me with the same anxiety and fear and dread I had when I first played Resident Evil on the GameCube and I highly recommend Darkwood to any survival horror fan.
Had this on the Xbox One back in the day, never got to play it properly because the ex wife didn’t let me use the tv. Different story now, literally just purchased this and going to rag it tonight and this weekend! ✌️ (Being single is underrated)
Open world or big open areas. I’m happy for either as long as the gameplay breaks and exceeds the tedious repetitive cycle of the main series Pokemon games.
Took the plunge and got this last night. It really is like Dark Souls, Hollow Knight and Zelda made a baby.
I will be glad to see how the difficulty ramps up because most 3D platformers aren’t hard at all really.
Edit: after a day of playing this. I conclude that this game is sick and just the platforming challenge I’ve been looking for.
This was my favourite game on the Xbox 360. A truly one of a kind experience that I hope Switch owners will be able to enjoy without being limited to a cloud version.
