Well it's true Yoshi never has his eyes this wide opened so it looks a little hyper for a yoshi but the design is competent. I'll just wait until I see it move. Seeing Mario animated really sold me on his design so we'll see.
@N00BiSH
You think DKC plays the same as Mario?
DKC does not go for the same gameplay or game feel as Mario. The same difference should be felt in their 3d releases, but the thing is they haven't tried DKC in 3d yet. If anything I thought Bananza was too close to Odyssey and that's why I'm saying I don't agree with what you said, I don't think what people wanted from Bananza was more Odyssey, I think it was precisely less Odyssey.
As for my personal point of view, I really liked the game and still need to finish it. But I also thought it was too much Odyssey and the one thing that it innovated for itself was the you can destroy everything idea that works for a while but also at some point you realize some of the best parts of the game are precisely when this is either limited or impossible. The worst part of the game is the level that is literally just destroying ground, the waste pile thing, and also it's the main factor for the fatigue and repetition that drags the game down towards the end even though it's not a long game. So overall you kind of wish there was less of that. And what could they have done other than this concept for a 3d DK game, that would still have been different from a Mario game in fact probably more, and would still have been a complete novelty because they've never tried it before?
I wonder >>>>> 3d DKC
For me Bananza is a fun spin off. A really good spin off even. But I hope they don't consider it a new departure because if that's the case we've sort of lost something really special. To be clear I trust they will release other 2d DKC games at some point. I just hope I'm not wrong they've done stranger things in the past.
@N00BiSH Those dissatisfied with Bananza wanted a 3d DKC, with proper platforming, challenge and fast paced gameplay, not a 3d Mario or at least I don't think so. We'll get the 3d Mario eventually.
@Ratmasterd21 Except that the NS2 pro is the standard pro controller, not an elite or whatever they call it variation of it. For some reason they haven't done that yet but if they do release an elite version of their pro controller I'm pretty sure they will charge even more for it.
But I get your point. The pro is priced just like the standard dualsense and granted the standard Xbox is slightly cheaper but it also has less bells and whistle than the other two. So overall any discussion about how the pro controller is expensive should just be a discussion about how all controllers are super expensive these days.
I've got to say the controller looks nuts.
I already have my launch NS2 pro and my splatoon 2 NS1 pro so yeah... And also the mobapad m6hd joycons that are terrific and an NES30 pro and a SN30 pro and that's without counting the 64 official NSO controller. And all of those are compatible with both consoles. Yeah not sure I can justify yet another controller tbh.
I'm trying to make up my mind about Assassin's Creed Shadows. It's a series I've sworn I would never bother with again because it has charm but it's just not very good. Now the feudal japan setting though really makes me want to try out this one, plus I hear it's better in some ways.
For example, have they finally completely gotten rid of the present day segments? They are a curse tbh.
@nuff64
A fellow inverted gamer! Nice to meet you sir.
I used to have this diagram with a silhouette of a man that had a stick sticking out from behind its head and it was supposed to explain that inverting Y was the logic thing to do.
I also learned 3d movement mainly with the N64 so it might be an explanation. Inverting mouse controls is a bit much for me though haha Good on you though!
As for driving my friends crazy, I played the entirety of Dark Souls 1, 3 and Bloodborne with a friend and each time we were passing the controller to each other first thing we'd do was usually die in atrocious pain doing crazy camera moves and not getting what was going on, and
then and only then we'd go to the option and change the setting.
That's pretty cool!
That's something I was thinking they should do so I'm glad it's here. The limitation is weird but hey it's still fun. I absolutely loved having pinball in my gamecube room. It made me play this game a lot more than I would have otherwise.
Now all we need is an option to switch to the GC original OST and we're home baby! Come on do it!
Neat! That's how you make this app actually interesting to us nintendo nerds who face-palm super hard each time you ask us if we're sure this Yoshi silhouette is the silhouette of a Yoshi.
Okay 5 euros is fine I guess but shouldn't that be free? Better definition, mouse mode, integrated voice chat and 12 players. These sound like stuff that should be free especially in a world where Nintendo is being notoriously greedy, you'd think they would at least sometime throw us a bone. Anyway at least it's cheap. I hope the free update drastically speeds up loading times that's the one and only thing I'm really waiting for for this title.
No need to change this since inverted is how it should be damnit!
Inverted all the way.
Inverted forever.
Inverted gamers unite!
Actually now that uninverted has become more common, it's very sad that some games don't offer enough options for inverted gamers like me. Looking at you RE Revelations on NS1 which gives you the option to invert the camera but it also affects the motion controls which is a little insane and effectively makes motion controls unusable for me. I mean of course when you're an inverted gamer you want Y axis inverted but why would that mean you also want your motion controlled reticle inverted exactly? I don't know that's beyond me.
Ah how life was a bliss when inverted was the norm.
On another note for Luigi's Mansion I did remap the triggers since I play on a pro controller, the whole Shoot out while Expelling does not work since it's very awkward to press L while holding ZL. A quick remap and it's now fine.
Look I don't know sh* about Pokémon, it's the one nintendo licence I really don't care about. But from my outside point of view, the ones I see being quoted as the best non-remakes ones, are gold silver, black white 2, sun moon, X Y and Arceus. So I'd say overall there are some fairly recent games though it should be noticed that the last games are considered pretty bad and that the fact that the fanbase seem to place remakes as the best in the series maybe says something about the company being unable to get it right on their first try?
Back when the NS2 released and everyone was surprised to see Capcom actually NOT having any plan for Monhun for what is basically the Monhun machine, people were like Wild could never run on NS2 stop dreaming guys. Now, we'll see of course, but it's not that obvious anymore.
The game is good but very forgettable and so is the soundtrack imo. People like to hate on the New series but these games are not to be treated as one monolithic entity. The console games are a lot better than the portable ones, these are the ones that feel like filler as far as I'm concerned.
A Crash series sounds like it could potentially be either fun or incredibly cringe worthy.
I wonder what Toys for Bob is up to? Crash 4 was fantastic. Weren't they partnering up with Microsoft or something? Or was their project shot down with everything else?
The story being canon makes me want to buy it but at the end of the day, less gaming time combined with games being more expensive mean stuff like Musou kind of not make the cut anymore. I'll see, it's a maybe.
@Serpenterror
Agreed the one on GB is great. It has that wonderswan vibe and it's surprisingly good. 1 and 2 were also good 3d fighters. I played the first one on PC and the second on Saturn I believe. I liked that it gave more freedom of movement than tekken for example. Virtua Fighter was way better than both though of course.
There even was a Wii game in the cards at some point I think.
Of course toshinden was more comparable to Soul Blade than tekken / VF in what it was trying to do. And it's probably Soul Calibur that destroyed any hope of coming back for toshinden.
They've hyped up the canonical story so I hope it will deliver. I hope they will do something clever with that Link construct for example. It does not send a very good signal for me.
I wonder how this is doing on NS2. It's a good game and a great star wars game. It's a bit sad that they canceled the sequel and I hope the NS2 is a redemption arc for that game.
I discovered this series back in the days with 1 and absolutely fell in love. I also played 2 and thought it was even better. I never got to try 3 and 4 though. And 4 has this aura of being a Suda game and a this sort of Wii lost classic thing with it not being brought out of Japan. I might give it a go at some point.
Then I played 5 on my WiiU and thought it was the best game I've tried in the series. It's an atmosphere behemoth and everything about its design is so focused and deliberate. It's a great game. The game also had one of these moments I thought was awesome video gaming, period. The first time I played the level that happens in the shop where the protagonist actually stays, I made my way through it, put the WiiU game pad down and thought they freaking nailed it. They absolutely nailed this moment of video game horror and it is one of my favorite moment in any horror game. It's stuff like these that you actually remember years later. I might add that as a quick Halloween session, this level is great to go through periodically.
I might add that between this, Zombi U which believe it or not I will defend to the death, and RE Revelations which is one of my favorite RE games, the WiiU for me is surprisingly associated with great horror content.
@Truegamer79
It's mainly the Wii and the NS1 though. The N64 was the most powerful console of its gen and the GC, while not as powerful as an OG Xbox, was more powerful than ps2. The WiiU on the other hand is debatable since it was better in some areas and worse in others so it really depended on the developers but even if you can't really say it's better you definitely could not say either that it was worse than say ps3. That's factually wrong.
So yeah sorry I'm probably nitpicking there, but the only consoles that were a gen behind from Nintendo were the Wii and the NS1. There's no denying that Nintendo has this reputation though and it comes from several factors in my opinion :
holding on to snes for years when the competition had moved to 32 bits and selling like crazy. And actually doing marketing in line with "look what we do with less power". Yoshi's Island comes to mind.
N64, GC and WiiU selling poorly when they were the one nintendo consoles that were trying to sell on power, so that did NOT help the audience to perceive this other aspect of the Nintendo brand
and at the same time Wii and NS1 being hugely successful while being absolutely less powerful and factually a gen behind, so on the other hand that DID help cementing this reputation in the customers collective mind.
Now with NS2 they're back with being the most powerful hardware of their category but not by much and it will be surpassed pretty quickly. So it will probably end up somewhere in the middle but I don't think it's doing enough to be remembered as a powerful console. To perceive it as such people need to take its form factor in consideration, the portable aspect, which a lot of people don't do, they'll just go ps6 pretty / NS2 not that pretty duh and that's it.
I'm not into roguelike and thus not interested in the dlc.
I'm playing through the game and it's a 7,5/8 in my book which is good but not outstanding and, sorry to bring that up again, but not on par with the legacy. Still a great time though. I just played the waste pile level and am I the only one who thinks that was kind of terrible? I mean it is so far the only part of the game that made me go god this is a chore, so it's not really something that weighs in too much in the general quality of the game but yeah... it really WAS a chore.
Also hopefully adding events will make the dlc more substantial for those who like the roguelike thing. You know what other game desperately needs free content to make it worth its price now? And also has a giant map that's just begging for content? That's right ninty, MKW. Now THIS game needs support.
I know I always go hd2d this hd2d that but for real, HD2D remakes of the Enix snes arpg trilogy!
Now that they are trying arpgs with Elliott in that style and just from the demo it seems to work just fine, come on we need Soul Blazer / Illusion of Time / Terranigma! We need Secret and Trials of Mana!
Oh and we still need FFVI and Chrono Trigger even if they're not arpgs.
I voted NSO since it is undoubtedly a very convenient way to access a good if incomplete library. But if I'm entirely honest there are actually three ways of playing nes games at my place and those are :
emulation (raspberry)
original NES that's still absolutely working fine
NSO or other game collections that should be on NSO instead
I'm using NSO the most but still really like to fire up the old NES something like twice a year since I don't have that much gaming time now, and strangely enough one of the games I really like to play when I do so is good ol Slalom. Love that game.
So no follow up to the NES30 pro? A little disappointing imo that the new controller offering is just a reskin of the very generic looking Ultimate. I mean the ultimate controller is a good controller but I would have rather had something more retro and more specific.
It's a brilliant game people should definitely give it a go! Also as others have said, I'd love for Atlus to update the game for NS2. Knowing them though and their terrible practices they'll probably just make an NS2 face-lift and sell it to you as a separate release. Prove me wrong Atlus!
@martynstuff Yeah that's the sad part, some gamers out there will try it out and go why did I even buy ZA in the first place? At least I hope so. SMT needs recognition that mirrors its general quality! And what Pokémon needs is a kick in the butt.
I think a Pokémon game that happens entirely in a city is a good idea but for it to really work we would need a much more intricate and elaborate city.
I'm French and I buy most of my games at Leclerc. The prices are great and though not as good as the NS1 generation it at least makes the prices kind of normal and what they should be. Game Key Cards are a pretty good deal there since they're actually cheaper than digital for example.
@RupeeClock XII TZA is an absolutely terrific game and the Switch version is very competent. It's a joy to play and it's one of the best games ever. Go play it now it's so good and I love it so much.
I dislike VIII so much that I was thinking can I get a VII only cartridge please? I'll even pay the same price.
Or a VII/IX combo?
I mean I could just buy the VII/VIII cartridge and then reprint a nice VII boxart more akin to the one they came up with for IX and just pretend VIII doesn't exist.
I think the first one was a lot more unique and emotional simply thanks to its more artsy piano only score. I think in general Nintendo Pictures should not hesitate to take a more artsy approach to differentiate itself from an increasingly samey and increasingly suspected of being AI made CG industry. We want them to be taken seriously.

So no follow up to the NES30 pro? A little disappointing imo that the new controller offering is just a reskin of the very generic looking Ultimate. I mean the ultimate controller is a good controller but I would have rather had something more retro and more specific.
Re: Review: SWORL Arcade Controller For Switch 1 & 2 - Ambitious Design Works Well With All Kinds Of Games
That looks really fun!
Re: The Next Nintendo Switch Online Game Trial Is A Modern RPG Classic
It's a brilliant game people should definitely give it a go!
Also as others have said, I'd love for Atlus to update the game for NS2. Knowing them though and their terrible practices they'll probably just make an NS2 face-lift and sell it to you as a separate release. Prove me wrong Atlus!
@martynstuff
Yeah that's the sad part, some gamers out there will try it out and go why did I even buy ZA in the first place? At least I hope so. SMT needs recognition that mirrors its general quality! And what Pokémon needs is a kick in the butt.
Re: Round Up: The Reviews Are In For Pokémon Legends: Z-A
I think a Pokémon game that happens entirely in a city is a good idea but for it to really work we would need a much more intricate and elaborate city.
Re: Review: Pokémon Legends: Z-A - Nintendo Switch 2 Edition - Stellar Battles, But A Step Down From Arceus
Mmh. Yeah right. Can we get that other Gamefreak game please?
Re: Poll: Box Art Brawl - Duel: Fatal Fury Special (SNES)
Classic SNK will always win.
Re: Hand-Drawn Platformer 'Ruffy And The Riverside' Gets 60fps Update On Switch 2
I'm absolutely getting this at some point it looks wonderful.
Re: Switch 2 Bundles Get A Surprise Price Drop At Select French Retailers
I'm French and I buy most of my games at Leclerc. The prices are great and though not as good as the NS1 generation it at least makes the prices kind of normal and what they should be. Game Key Cards are a pretty good deal there since they're actually cheaper than digital for example.
Re: Final Fantasy VII / VIII Remastered Twin Pack And IX Switch Physical Releases Confirmed For North America
@RupeeClock
XII TZA is an absolutely terrific game and the Switch version is very competent. It's a joy to play and it's one of the best games ever. Go play it now it's so good and I love it so much.
Re: Final Fantasy VII / VIII Remastered Twin Pack And IX Switch Physical Releases Confirmed For North America
Re: Sorry, Nintendo's Recent Pikmin Videos Aren't Hinting At Something More
That was great thanks Nintendo Pictures!
Now onto Starfox!
Re: Nintendo Expands Switch Online's SNES Library With Three More Titles
2 great games and 1 bad one. Pretty good overall plus we can finally play Mario and Wario as it was intended!
Re: Review: Little Nightmares III (Switch 2) - A Missed Opportunity For Couch Co-op That Plays It A Little Too Safe
This series was always a case of style over substance for me. It does LOOK cool though.
