Well there you are, it works fine. Texture pop in and object pop in is a concern though. Though I see no mention of it here in the comments.
It goes to show that there is subjectivity at play with these things. The GVG guy might be particularly bothered or distracted by fps issues. For me it's pop in and it has always been. I don't mind occasional fps drops here and there or even I couldn't care less about texture quality, this I found out I really don't care about. But I'm watching this video and all I see that could be a problem for me is texture/light and object pop in. So maybe that GVG guy is not actively trying to push an anti switch agenda or whatever some crazy people come up with.
Now the inevitable question : this vs Ninja Gaiden?
Also both games are unoptimized for NS2 and that's a pity really, but Shinobi seems a better fit for the new console since at least it is 60fps. Please release NS2 patches! Both games deserve it so much.
Damn that's quite a lot of games. Star Wars, Cronos, Daemon and Pac Man 2 are all possible depending on the reviews. And then there is Sliksong and Final Fantasy Tactics.
@Bizzyb
Haha yeah I was talking about third parties being weirdly late to the party. There is this whole dev kit ordeal so this might be the problem but still a strange situation.
@progx
Yeah absolutely. My comment was not very clear, I was talking about third parties specifically.
All hail OoE, that game finally got the credit it deserved all along.
For the record when it released it was considered the worst of the bunch because it was deemed too hard. Now the only thing too hard about this whole notion is the way it makes me laugh, but hey that's how it was and I even remember ign I believe writing an article about it.
Dawn is still an excellent game of course and so is Portrait but Order is something else.
To me it was a Japanese trend to start with, was it not? That's why I tend to say cross. Xenoblade Chronicles X is definitely a cross. It's XenoCross it's so cool damnit!
Okay here is my hot take. I like when not all of my games play the same. I enjoy Bananza and BotW button placement, I instantly fell in love with traditional MonHun and I adore that Metroid 3 uses A to jump and X to shoot.
I would never change those because I like that there is actually a layer of adapting to the game and learning to play it. It adds to the fun for me. I also like to think that when someone makes a game and takes a decision that goes against years of convention about how to use buttons on a controller, it's probably not a decision that's taken lightly and there's probably a reason behind it. I like to try to understand such thought process.
Well I see this and the first thing that comes to mind is okay, he's warning us that Sliksong will not be shown. I mean that's literally what it means.
Uh yeah. It's obviously japan this time around. At least for me, it went from god is that ugly for US to hey that's actually pretty cool for EU and finally okay there's no competition there for JP.
I'm looking at the game and it can't be realistically very hard to port. Or at least it shouldn't. Now hold on a minute, no I'm not a developer, but I own SF6 and Cyberpunk and yeah, this gives you an idea of what's doable with the system. Now maybe SF6 for the example required a ton of work but I'm not sure that's the case.
That's great! One of the very few games that I don't have in my GC collection. Alongside Fzero GX and Wario World. I'll be super happy to replay it and finally have it available anytime in some official capacity. Convenient!
I know I've said before that I would always vote for JP for GBA games because of that terribly ugly and huge only for game boy advance thing that just systematically butcher any US/EU boxarts. I know I said that but I can't realistically vote for JP this time. It's just so incredibly bland, what were they thinking.
I really want to try it out but I don't have the kind of timetable that can be adjusted for a playable demo of a video game, sorry. I wish I could try it whenever I want. Even just in a mode where you just hang around and try out the controls.
I am so happy about this! I love Hexen to death and I played it sooo much as a kid. I really hope Heretic 2 and Hexen 2 will follow in a second package, that would be grand. Hexen 2 with a couple improvement could be glorious.
I really, really like SF6 character designs. And that's coming from someone who did not particularly like SF4 and 5 in that regard.
Look at this Elena redesign. She's incredibly hot and appealing and over the top as she should, it's SF after all. But she's not tacky or vulgar or anything. It's awesome.
@Antraxx777 That makes sense, I also prefer Doom 2 to Doom because of its more spread out and intricate level design, precisely less focused. So it's all very coherent. I liked Heretic, it's a good game, but to me it feels less special and more like medieval doom rather than its own thing.
@Kuruwin Yes, Hexen 2 needs to be 'fixed' with a couple qol improvement. It's a very nice game and with a couple adjustments it could be really great.
I have an SN30 pro and I am in love with it. It is really hard to play anything retro without this now. Even though I have to admit I sometime take out good old NES30 pro when I am specifically playing an nes title and want a dpad that feels a little closer to the real deal.
DKC though? Megaman X? SF ? Anything Castlevania? KOF? All of those and more that's SN30 all the way, it's brilliant.
I don't really like the horned shaped grip though on any controller and I've always preferred smaller ones like the Wii u pro or the pro con 2 or even the ones that are sort of hidden behind the controller itself like the dreamcast or the joycon grip, or even better none at all like the almighty SNES controller. The Playstation style horn shaped grip though? Never really liked them and I always thought they were not as comfortable. Playstation themselves have started to slightly ditch it with the PS5 having shorter grip, and even though it's not there yet that's honestly the first good ps controller in my eyes.
So I'm not a big fan of this aspect of the pro 3 and I would have preferred them to go back to the snes controller shape. I hope they make a variation at some point.
Hexen is a favorite of mine so I'll happily dive in!
I hope Hexen 2 will follow, I was hoping for a Hexen 1&2 collection as Heretic, while fun, really is not as good. But hey that's nice and not too expensive. I hope it'll get mods the way Doom has been getting.
@WiltonRoots I meant by that that they have a deficit in public image these days and have been handling things poorly for some events and some situations, like how they handle fan content, participation to public events like championships or this one here. And all of these happen to be miscommunication toward the same demographic online which is of course a vocal minority but still part of their fanbase. I'm saying they should do something about it. Not all negativity is trolling.
Other than that I should really rebuy Overkill and 2&3 for the Wii while they are not terribly expensive. They left the apartment slamming the door with my ex girlfriend and a couple other things some years ago.
When has NS1 not been able to hold 60 let alone 30fps for 2d pixel based platformers? What happened? I'll be waiting for an NS2 patch. But honestly even for NS1 it's a pity really.
The game kitchen really needs to work on a NS2 60fps patch as soon as possible for Ninja Gaiden. It was a day one game for me, I was very much waiting for it but I can't justify 30fps even on NS1 let alone NS2. I'm waiting for their move and I hope it's coming soon

Re: Poll: Box Art Brawl - Duel: Forsaken (N64)
I like the idea of a planet earth marked F for forsaken though I have no idea if it matches a narrative in the game or not.

Going back to Rayman 1 and then announcing a prequel. That would make sense right?

@Flashlink99
I think it's been rumored. I would love to see that, Rayman 2 is a major N64 game.

I don't know if it's better but Strider certainly is terrific. I don't see a new Strider game though

More cross promotion than collab tbh. It's fun though for those who want this kind of dlc.

Re: Talking Point: Where On Earth Are The Switch 2 Soundtracks On Nintendo Music?

Totally agreed. Tropical Freeze is my number one request for Nintendo Music. Even above Xenoblade even though that's a close second.
Tropical Freeze is one of the very best platformers ever and it has one of the best ost ever.

Y'all just want an infinite version of that insane Baby park remix.

Yep I was very much waiting for this and I am very happy about it. Great direct for this and Mina alone, two from my most wanted list!
