I loved that game aesthetic. I love how it was different from the more classic BotW. I liked the slightly more disturbing and out there design ideas. There was definitely a MM vibe to how it was a twisted reflection of BotW. I really think in the end I liked tears better than breath. Breath I'm sure I'll never forget but tears makes me want to get back to it more.
Wow. There seems to be so much going on in the this movie what the heck. Fingers crossed but I'm a lot more confident in the sequel since I was pretty pessimistic about the original and ended up loving it!
I love pretty much all of the posters but something about the pose and the general layout of elements on the Peach poster I thinks stands out from the rest. I went for that one!
@timp29 What made goldeneye this successful is very contextual though. It was the rise of couch multiplayer and the discovery of console fps as a mainstream alternative to its pc counterpart.
My point is I don't there will ever be another goldeneye. As for me, I like goldeneye and I'm more or less interested in this, but I don't think it's trying to do the same thing really.
I very much regret that the Perfect Dark sequel was shot down by Microsoft though, I was very interested in this one and it looked more in line with goldeneye and perfect dark.
It's green for me this week. It's weird that they went for the Rayman 2 designs for the box art though. Even weirder the Japanese version with many Raymen.
Raymen is definitely the name of a future spin off à la Kirby mass attack.
As a fan of the first games (MG1/2/S) and not particularly liking the how the series evolved from here, I really like Ghost Babel so it's great that they have not forgotten it exists. 3 I thought was nice though not in its first version. 2, 4 and 5 unfortunately weren't as good for me.
The battle between this and Bloodstained 2 is going to be an epic one.
In the end we gamers win anyway!
EDIT : also they probably know it but they need to include Ayami Kojima and Michiru Yamane! Castlevania lives and dies by its music and the gothic anime aesthetic is a staple of the series. If they go with the comics vibe of the series which it seems like that's what they're willing to do, they should definitely mix with more traditional Castlevania designs and have Kojima on board for illustrations and character designs.
I'll take anything Rayman of course. That being said I would prefer a full on remake using the Legends engine rather than a remaster of the first game.
And as I've read here, if it is just a remaster, then a trilogy collection would be a much better decision.
And also of course what I'm really hoping for is a 3d platformer Rayman 4 (or 6).
Okay that's neat it was a really good ost, one of the best the series has to offer.
That being said Iam eagerly waiting for Color Splash, that one is one of Nintendo's absolute best. I remember saying specifically when Origami released, it's a nice game but the ost is the one area where it doesn't top its predecessor.
I see most of what I complained about is being addressed except for the faerie character being ultra cringe worthy, that apparently hasn't changed. I hope they are at least letting us turn off her voice. As in keep the others but shut her up.
Also people thought the character was too slow? That's strange to me it felt great imo.
Maybe Aonuma's statement means the next Zelda game will take place during a time of war. They've toyed with this idea before with TP's horse section against hordes of Moblins and TotK's squad based attacks against enemy stronghold. It would not be that surprising.
Why they didn't develop a headstrap this time around is absolutely beyond me. I'll be waiting for third party headstraps and then if I can find something satisfying I might bite.
The Pragmata demo was really nice. Also I'll finally beat Sylux's shiny metal bottom in Metroid Prime 4 and I'm still playing Mario Kart World on a regular basis.
I also bought Olija and I quite like it. Excellent little platformer with super fluid movement and a great atmosphere. The plan is to finish that one before I start Ys III which I also bought on sale around new year's eve.
I tried out the demo and loved it! I spent about half an hour completing it, adjusting the settings and getting used to the controls and then saw there's a timer with a completion time so I had to try again. The second I rushed through and it was great going through it one more time once you get the controls down. It felt super fluid and satisfying. Also you unlock a couple stuff for the second playthrough so it's worth it to give it another go. Spent another 15 minutes on my second try. Definitely interested and waiting for reviews but I'm more than likely to get it.
@h3s Now just imagine. I started Wonder and immediately fell in love but also immediately realized that the game would be on the easy side so I thought I am NOT using badges and went for no badge run. And I do believe I had more fun with the game thanks to that decision but yeah, when I reached the last level after 100% the game badge free I was a little disappointed to say the least. I had to learn all the badges just for that level. I still completed it but it was not the final challenge I was hoping for.
@Elock I agree the darksouls mechanic was probably implemented more because it was popular at the time than anything else and honestly does not merge very well with the metroidvania formula. Still better than a 6/10 though.
Well, yeah. Obviously. And they have to explain that to investors it's insane. People tell me investors don't know sh* about games, they apparently don't know much about marketing and brand management either.
@batmanbud2 When they announced Cadence of Hyrule, I was hoping that it would become a trend and they would hire more indie studio to make new iterations of some of their classics. The first games that came to mind were Balloon Fight and Ice Climbers. Imagine Wayforward for example doing one of these.
Other than that the Balloon Trip attraction in Nintendo Land is pretty much a sequel and it's great.
They saw SW, RE and FF and realized they actually had to work on it and could not afford to release it in a compromised state. They realized this is no NS1 era anymore. My two cents anyway.
I thought XC2 was overall good but I don't think I'll ever replay it to be honest. Anything good that it was doing was canceled out by a bad game design decision or an extremely cringe worthy moment.
I hope they are focusing on a new game or even a new licence.
I was looking forward to the release of Ys X but recent events irl have had an impact on my gaming time and I just have too many adventure/rpg games in the oven. But I'll get it eventually. Other than that, RE9 and that's it.
Elden Ring and RE absolutely. Pragmata got me intrigued, South of Midnight also. Mina the hollower and Orbitals on the indie front. I'll probably get Splatoon Raiders since I've been waiting for a solo splatoon spin off for a while.
And of course Megaman 12, Elliot and FREAKING RYTHM HEAVEN!
Other than that I'm a little sad to say that as a yoshis island fan since forever, it is after all still one of the best 2d platformer ever, what I saw of the new Yoshi game got me thinking they seem to be moving away from the first game even more than they have this far. We never got a true successor to one of their absolute best games it's a pity really. The closest we got was the Wii U, that one was pretty good, not on par with the snes game but pretty good.
EDIT : oh and also there's Duskbloods. We don't know anything about it, do we? The online only nature (from what I can gather at least?) also does not help.
I dream of a Last Story sequel pretty often.
It's one of those games I have a real soft spot for, I replay it on a regular basis, it's really great and I would have loved to see Sakaguchi making a new series out of it.
Seeing FFVI stealing 3rd, 2nd and 1st spot makes me very proud of this community.
However some games in there are still very underrated. The FFCC games are all good, perticularly the DS games it's insane to see them this low. And my boy FFXII is still overlooked when it is in my eyes the best in the whole series.
Also come on Nintendo Life we gotta talk.
Are you really going to let Remake rank higher than OG FFVII?
This is an absolute travesty, it does not even makes sense and you know it.
I said I would go the upgrade path but that's only if the solo content is enough. I'm really begging for a reason to go back to this wonderful game but Wonder Party is not what I was hoping for with this game.
Whether I buy this or not will depend entirely on how substantial the koopaling content really is.
I really want an excuse to go back to this game but I'm not buying an overpriced mission mode/extra collectible either. It really depends on how it's done. If it really is an extra campaign and more challenging at that then it will be an absolute yes.
Other have said it but I feel like I have to reiterate because people will of course say terrible things because of Prime 4 and some Paper Mario games, Tanabe is a legend. He has had an incredible career and was absolutely instrumental in developing nintendo and its identity that we love so much. Thanks for everything and enjoy a well deserved retirement.
@Wewewi
I'm pretty sure SE said the entire trilogy was going to be released on NS2.
As for the game itself I really like the new battle system but the new story is a disaster that granted will only be fully realized when the inevitable kingdom hearts levels of convoluted mess ending will be released, but you can already feel it coming so obvious and already super cringe worthy in that first game it honestly hurts. Between this and the second game we already know several key aspects of the original story are completely wasted there. Why bother. Play the original.
@Porky
See. That kind of thing. This is game breaking stuff. This remaster or whatever you call it was not taken seriously. Glad to see that bug was fixed through this update. I hope they are fixing the visuals also, so that it's at least on par with the original, that seems like a reasonable ask. Definition is not everything.
Other than that, great update, they have plenty to fix there though so I hope they've done at least a good part of it. Also I'd love to see a NS2 update for Tropical Freeze, for which the port was actually good.
