I'm not a crt filter guy but I really liked the one they put in there for NES and SNES particularly. I hope the new one is also good.
Here's what I don't get though. Why don't we keep the now older crt filter as an option? Give us a choice! Same thing for that COM difficulty thing in MKW I just read in that other topic. They lower the difficulty, don't do that, give us difficulty settings instead!
Increased the frequency of lap-type courses appearing in the selection when choosing the next course in “VS Race” and wireless races.
Okay internet, following these excellent news I fully expect a wave of positivity the same magnitude as the earthquake of negativity we've had when it was the other way around.
Wait.
What triggers me though is easier COM. I know A LOT of people complain about COM being too hard this time around but god no. Stop complaining about difficulty, most people don't even know how to play the game yet. For once COM are good enough. I've heard they seem to be adaptative AI, that's awesome damnit. If people keep complaining about it we'll end up with MK8 difficulty tier which was ridiculously easy. I swear fanbases are such a curse these days.
Nintendo games really haven't had a very good run lately when it comes to challenge. MKW and DKB seem better than their predecessors in that regard so let them be. It's a good trend don't kill it, encourage them to keep doing that!
The fact that they are keeping the Xbox version and canceling the switch means they probably had issues making it run correctly. Or maybe they just moved ressources to full on switch 2.
Honestly I understand why they're going with star wars for NS2 but I'm surprised they're not going with the Jedi games instead. That would have been easier to port and a sure win imo. Not incredible numbers of course since a lot of people already played them but it would have been a safe bet at least.
I'd love info on MP4 for sure but also about what's coming after that. Is Pokémon ZA the only first party thing till the end of the year? What are the plans and the third party efforts? What can we expect with NS2 in the near future?
It's nice that it's a 1:1 ratio with the original (or pretty much from the picture there) and I like the screen thing. Then again if I want to brag about my OG gameboy and fire up Mario Land on it I can just take out the required four (!) AAA batteries and just do so.
DK64 is too high.
DK94 being this high is nice though.
DKCTF is for a lot of people the best platformer ever and the best of the DKC games. To me 94, 1, 2 and TF should be the top of the list in that order. I have not played Bananza enough and I can't rate it. It is starting great but not TF/2 kind of great. Not even Odyssey great so far. We'll see as I progress through the story.
BTW Jungle Beat is an excellent game that I would personally rate as high as DKC3 and higher than Returns.
@Fiergala
It's good though the NS1 version struggles a bit in the performance department which is kind of hard to forgive. The second game runs better than the first though. The QOL stuff is nice and the games are very good examples of jrpgs that were not afraid of trying different things both gameplay wise and for the narration. It's in the line of Chrono and Valkyrie Profile and the likes. The presentation is artistically top notch and back in the day people were like if this is what we can do with 2d backgrounds then there is still definitely life in it. This game could not have been done if it had targeted full 3d and the result would not have been this special. Nintendo Life still found a way to compare BK with a money fueled blockbuster like FFX though, go figure. So much for checking what made the game special when it was first released. Contextualize damnit!
I still need to check it on NS2 though. It's very susceptible to run better since the framerate was all over the place in the first game in some situations, it probably was uncapped.
I mean the game is subject to frantic camera moves and sometime makes you lose track of where you are exactly. That's only when you start going crazy and digging out of the beaten path and trying weird stuff. Otherwise it's fine but it's true that it can be chaotic if you are the kind of gamer who likes to try breaking the game or finding other paths and things like that. So that might be the issue.
Oh so there were Portal 2 and Sakuna! I didn't know I could not play those on NS2 but anyway that's solved. Now onto Megaman collection and Alien isolation! Because these I was actually playing when I transitioned to the new system.
Wasn't that the game where you could play as a palm tree and other random characters? That's some Mario Kart World kind of weirdness right there. And 20 years beforehand.
Also 20 freaking years. I'm not getting any younger that's for sure.
IGN giving a better score than NL to a Nintendo exclusive is probably a very unique situation.
Also, I saw that David Wise is not part of the game and that makes me very sad. I was talking about the very unique atmosphere of DKC thanks to David Wise and I think an easy way to give DKB a slightly more DKC vibe without even trying too hard was precisely to have Wise on board. So that's a pity really. And I've seen a couple people online already stating that the music feels too generic for a DK game.
Is this another way to prevent people from buying a non key card release and still have it running on their ns2? Because if so then the whole thing is becoming kind of insane.
I swear the level of control freak from these companies, the square and ninty and capcom etc, it's through the roof. They're all acting like spoiled brats at this point.
Adds in Galaxy 2! Nope. Anyway still nice to see them updating this "obscure" time limited release. I'll be sure to give it a try!
Also... still nothing for Wonder? That's awesome because this + the 120fps tease that we saw in the NS2 release trailer makes me think something bigger than a normal performance/resolution boost is coming! Hard mode for Wonder? Dlc pack with harder levels? Come on all this game needs to join the older games in the pantheon of 2d Mario is a bit of challenge! Actually a bit more than a bit, but challenge damnit!
I don't know man, that Mickey looks weird on the first one.
And also I always thought that GBA banner thingy on the side of the EU/US GBA boxarts is really huge and ugly. So when it comes to GBA I might just systematically vote for JP just because of that thing.
For me when we talk about performance in a game we refer to moment to moment gameplay and not 100% perfect all the time. 100% perfect is not a criteria that is going to help assess the general enjoyment of the game. Having performance dropping here and there in exceptional situations is not going to prevent you from enjoying the game. Or at least it shouldn't. If it does it's a bit of an obsession tbh.
So talking about performance, what matters is moment to moment gameplay, not perfection.
Again (just out of the pro controller 2 discussion) people are going to pretend this is not an issue but I consider myself not being too affected by minor amounts of imput lag and adjusting fairly well, but I instantly noticed something was wrong there. Perhaps what I noticed even more was the stick sensitivity issue. I instantly saw that Link was not moving how he should have.
If you consider yourselves fans of this company, expect, no demand better from them. You are spending huge amounts of your hard earned money on these products and spending time with these. Demand that your favorite company becomes better at what it does. We love them so we want them to be the best they can. And obviously there is room for improvement in several key aspects.
The shortsightedness of some people around here is astounding. Their criteria is repairability and durability. Based on that criteria, the controller is terrible. It's not an opinion it's a fact that they explain well enough.
I love the controller and even I can understand that. Some people here in Europe are trying to pass laws to make this kind of BS illegal because it's factually anti consumer practices and goes against any ecological common sense. I hope they succeed in doing so, so that we can all attack nintendo and make them a better company since they can't do it themselves it seems.
I'm a Nintendo fan and it's always sad to see my favorite company doing things like that that is so against their customers and toxic for the environment showing in the process that they don't care about these things. It hurts because I like what they do otherwise, but I'm not going to ignore these issues because I'm a fan. If I was doing this I would actively be helping them to become worse and worse as time goes.
Also it's very high time they put gamers back in key roles in this company. It used to be their specificity. It's not the case anymore, that era's gone and it is starting to really show and it's not pretty.
@GlowingOrb
To be fair and if you count Mighty as Megaman, then the last Megaman game by inti is not Mighty no9, it's Mighty Gunvolt and it is pretty good.

@Fiergala Linking the game up with the nintendo music app is such an incredible idea. That could even be done on a system level and cover any music from any game. That would make the app a lot more desirable imo.
Not just customized knock out tour but customized grand prix also, there is huge potential here
Map markers
More multi-player options such as local free roam, free roam with p switches and everything scattered around (maybe they save only when the host is doing the challenge, if that's the issue?), being able to join existing multi-player sessions, etc
And first and foremost options, options, options.
zoom in and out on the mini map
make it so it doesn't move when you turn and always indicates north
let us set any number of laps we want ffs on any map AND if we want intermission races in between
let us customize which objects we want
Basically and this is going to sound harsh but all of this stuff that's just finishing the game.
And even... I can't believe I'm saying this but FREAKING SOUND OPTIONS.
The sound of the engines is too loud especially in handheld mode, give me the option to make the music louder and turn down the sounds. While you are at it separate sounds from natural ambient sounds and voices. You know the kind of stuff we've been doing in any other game for the last ten years probably more.
MK has always been the stone age of settings. Nintendo has always been pretty bad at it but MK has usually been the worst. MK8DX (just the DX version mind you) took about two steps and a half in the right direction but MKW is just... wow that's just practically non existent I haven't seen that in years.
I don't want to sound overly negative, I love this game, it's good and obviously I'm just talking about options. But really they should do something. There is NO SOUND OPTION. Let that sink in. There were sound options in many NES titles what, 40 years ago?
I would love a FFIX remake in the vein of FFVII remake GAMEPLAY WISE and as long as it respects the story. No need for the ubisoft open world and completely betraying the original material with new writing and very poor at that.
I'll take all of them thanks!
