@Skunkfish I've got only 7. And that's counting the dude's shorts. I count the lady in the foreground's swimsuit as only 1 difference though so that might be why.
He wouldn't be the first to say about a game that he was playing as a kid that he used to be really good at it and now he's not even remotely as competent. The momentum is quite extreme by nowadays standard and I've seen several younger players when trying it for the first time being surprised by it and struggling to adapt. Maybe that's why he has issues getting back to it.
Now I'm sure if he was giving it a proper try he wouldn't have nearly as much difficulty as he thinks he would. That's how I interpreted what he said anyway. SMB is a 100% playable nowadays and just as great as it always was. People are just not trying hard enough.
About Kojima I've always found it surprising this fascination that he has with nintendo. His own games are as un-Nintendo as you can get.
I think a 7 was a bit harsh to be honest. Well not actually harsh. 7 is not harsh but to some people 7 instantly sounds like I'm gonna pass on this and it's a pity really. I'm playing this right now and it's really good. Not every game needs to reinvent the wheel and this is just an all around well executed game.
Also I hope the next update comes with a bit of optimization for switch 2. It's good as is but it's always nice to see devs actually caring and making their game just that extra bit better.
@Pillowpants
My dude what a day it must have been!
These memories are golden. I myself got Zelda 3 before the console, bought used from a friend, but couldn't play it. Then I got a used snes for my birthday. I remember it had the SF2 turbo box but SF2 itself wasn't in it because my parents wouldn't let me play a fighting game so they just bought the console but not the game. I got Yoshi's Island instead. It was a glorious night.
Curiously that "tradition" to get Zelda games before the hardware itself because an opportunity presented itself repeated itself with Ocarina and Wind Waker. Long were the days spent staring at these boxarts and reading those instruction booklets without being able to actually play the games.
Thank you so much for acknowledging the genius of this game which I absolutely love. I'm replaying it right now on NSO and sure enough, it's still a gem <3
Perhaps its biggest merit is that it is not a collectathon. People seem to forget collectathons are just a subgenre of 3d platforming and not the norm.
Rayman 2 is just an honest efficient point a to b 2 buttons (okay 3) platformer with impeccable controls, great level design and atmosphere, that leaves you with the simple joy of jumping from one platform to the next.
No collecting three different types of currency and no double jump either. It doesn't need it since its gameplay is not centered around exploration but around actual platforming and it demands that your moves and jumps are quite deliberate and precise. So nope you won't be double jumping your way out of a dodgy move you did not quite thought through.
It's just well made simple linear goodness. It's just great.
It's the full on this game does not feature the OG story trailer. Good at least they're not lying anymore about what's in the actual game.
Looking at this we can all see it coming Sephiroth will team up with Cloud in the last game for whatever reason they are going to desperately come up with.
Metroid Prime 4 is fantastic! I like that it is trying new things with the world design using the OoT structure with smaller areas being more Metroid like. I don't know yet if the secrets rooms and passages are going to be enough compared to older entries. The linearity being a staple of the series is not a problem. Even though it might clash with the expectations of some when they saw the open areas, it's up to them to realize it's not an open world after all, no more than old school zeldas were, again referring to the OoT world structure.
The gameplay is wonderful as always with the most refined gameplay in the series with so many options! The bike is well integrated and fun to drive around.
And above all the presentation is terrific with the best music and overall atmosphere in the series in my opinion and artistic direction ABSOLUTELY OFF THE CHARTS.
Of course I'll reserve my judgement for when I actually complete the game but so far it's been really great, already better than 3 and on its way to beat 2.
@AG_Awesome @darkswabber No motion control at all? This is crazy, I mean the nintendo crowd has had access to the Wii version for ages which still has the best motion aiming of any RE4 re-release. And they decide to just skip it?
Apparently 7/8/9 are supposed to get the feature but let's hope it will be well implemented because looking at R1/R2/5/6 it does not bode well.
Come on Capcom! Even Nintendo who is famous for never giving options for freaking anything, even them have an incredible set of options for MP4! I've fiddled around with it last time and it's just awesome the amount of personalization you have access to.
@darkswabber How are the motion controls in RE4? Have they been fixed compared to Revelations? In Revelations if you are using inverted Y for the camera it automatically inverts the motion controlled reticle. You can't dissociate the two, which is kind of insane. I think it's the same in Revelations 2. How is it in RE4? I haven't found an answer online. This issue has actually prevented me from buying these three games even when on sales because I know the motion controls just aren't usable for me even though they are games that I would have typically rebought.
I'm just praying that they will fix that for RE7/8/9. In that day and age it's crazy.
Street of Rage 4 finally the goat beat'em up is now playable on NS2 <3 Nobody apparently uses gamechat in my usual gaming pals and that's a pity really but I imagine SoR4 would be very NS2 friendly thanks to that feature.
I really hope they don't miss the opportunity to make Wonder one of the absolute best games in the series by giving us A HARD MODE. God it's not that hard to understand. Or even a new harder campaign even though I'm more in favor of difficulty levels now. I think the Mario series really needs them.
What they've announced so far for Wonder NS2 edition is completely missing the point for me. I don't want to turn it into Wonder Party, I want it to acknowledge years and years of Mario gaming. There's clearly a split between the younger audience that is definitely part of the Mario demographic and they're obviously targeting it and that's absolutely fine, and the older more experienced Mario fans who love the little guy and would need more of a challenge to appreciate his adventures the way they used to.
I mean this will be released in a thousand years if at all given the state of the AAA industry. Same for the tomb raider games. What we got were movie trailers for games that may or may not even release.
Let's talk about South of Midnight, Pragmata, Orbitals and Megaman. I'm more interested in these.
So basically Pragmata and South of Midnight?
That's two excellent catch for the NS2!
Plus Megaman 12 of course.
This console is going to be pretty special.
You're telling me Terminator 2d is really going to land this week? I'll believe it when I see it.
More seriously I hope the game is good and I'll be waiting for reviews but it is part of my Christmas list. Also I hope the Tomba remake is good and if it I might bite a bit later down the road simply because it is such a nice and weird little thing that any platformer fan should at least try.
The artwork kind of looks like what a crossover between post reboot young Lara and old school Lara could be. So I'll give them that. But I'm more interested in what the gameplay could be. I'd love them to take the series back to what it was before, a 3d platformer that is.
@Suketoudara
To play with a standard controller Perfect Dark / golden eye should be set to 1.2 in the in game proposed control schemes and then there is a couple things to swap, the two sticks for example and a couple buttons but it's pretty simple
EDIT :
here it is :
in game control scheme set to 1.2
swap the two sticks, L becomes R and R becomes L
map ZL (shoot) to the ZR button
map L (aim) to the ZL button
And there you go you're playing with standard fps controls. That being said I like just playing with an N64 controller better since you can still feel that the stick sensitivity implemented in the games at the time was really made for the OG controller. To be absolutely perfect with a standard controller the emulator should allow you to adjust stick sensitivity. That's the one missing feature on NSO imo. But it's still perfectly playable as is with just the button swapped. I've said it before but the only game that is really unplayable without the official N64 controller is Jet Force. For this one we would need even more options than I think any emulator can reasonably have. Basically it's the only game that really needs nintendo to just go ahead and code a custom configuration for it. Which I don't think they will do unfortunately. Still an excellent game though. I wonder if it would work with your 64 pad. It probably would since it seems to have all the inputs just in a slightly more modern set up.
Niiiiice! And it's going to be the expansion pack version, just running better. Just like Perfect Dark being so much better than it ever could be on original hardware. Rayman 2 is a very good game guys! Give it a try if you haven't already!
Oh sure I'll get welcome tour. With pleasure. When they give it for free.
Which they won't cause it would be downright insulting to early adopters. So there you are, welcome tour is a nice youtube video as far as I'm concerned and a nice reminder of how baffling Nintendo's decisions can be whenever they feel in a leading position.

That's why I tend to think the team did it themselves.

Bit on the easy side though once you figure out the pattern.
