Re: Nintendo Expands Switch Online's Game Boy Library With Two More Titles

mlt

@batmanbud2
When they announced Cadence of Hyrule, I was hoping that it would become a trend and they would hire more indie studio to make new iterations of some of their classics. The first games that came to mind were Balloon Fight and Ice Climbers. Imagine Wayforward for example doing one of these.

Other than that the Balloon Trip attraction in Nintendo Land is pretty much a sequel and it's great.

Re: Poll: What Nintendo Switch 2 Games Are You Most Excited For In 2026?

mlt

Elden Ring and RE absolutely. Pragmata got me intrigued, South of Midnight also. Mina the hollower and Orbitals on the indie front. I'll probably get Splatoon Raiders since I've been waiting for a solo splatoon spin off for a while.

And of course Megaman 12, Elliot and FREAKING RYTHM HEAVEN!

Other than that I'm a little sad to say that as a yoshis island fan since forever, it is after all still one of the best 2d platformer ever, what I saw of the new Yoshi game got me thinking they seem to be moving away from the first game even more than they have this far. We never got a true successor to one of their absolute best games it's a pity really. The closest we got was the Wii U, that one was pretty good, not on par with the snes game but pretty good.

EDIT : oh and also there's Duskbloods. We don't know anything about it, do we? The online only nature (from what I can gather at least?) also does not help.

Re: Best Final Fantasy Games, Ranked - Switch 2 And Nintendo Systems

mlt

Seeing FFVI stealing 3rd, 2nd and 1st spot makes me very proud of this community.

However some games in there are still very underrated. The FFCC games are all good, perticularly the DS games it's insane to see them this low. And my boy FFXII is still overlooked when it is in my eyes the best in the whole series.

Also come on Nintendo Life we gotta talk.
Are you really going to let Remake rank higher than OG FFVII?
This is an absolute travesty, it does not even makes sense and you know it.

Re: Super Mario Bros. Wonder + Meetup In Bellabel Park Arrives On Switch 2 In March

mlt

Whether I buy this or not will depend entirely on how substantial the koopaling content really is.
I really want an excuse to go back to this game but I'm not buying an overpriced mission mode/extra collectible either. It really depends on how it's done. If it really is an extra campaign and more challenging at that then it will be an absolute yes.

Re: Nintendo Producer Kensuke Tanabe Has Seemingly Confirmed His Retirement

mlt

Other have said it but I feel like I have to reiterate because people will of course say terrible things because of Prime 4 and some Paper Mario games, Tanabe is a legend. He has had an incredible career and was absolutely instrumental in developing nintendo and its identity that we love so much. Thanks for everything and enjoy a well deserved retirement.

Re: Review: Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade (Switch 2) - A Big, Bold Reimagining, And A First-Class Port

mlt

@Wewewi
I'm pretty sure SE said the entire trilogy was going to be released on NS2.

As for the game itself I really like the new battle system but the new story is a disaster that granted will only be fully realized when the inevitable kingdom hearts levels of convoluted mess ending will be released, but you can already feel it coming so obvious and already super cringe worthy in that first game it honestly hurts. Between this and the second game we already know several key aspects of the original story are completely wasted there. Why bother. Play the original.

Re: Donkey Kong Country Returns HD Gets A Free Switch 2 Update And Adds Dixie Kong

mlt

@Porky
See. That kind of thing. This is game breaking stuff. This remaster or whatever you call it was not taken seriously. Glad to see that bug was fixed through this update. I hope they are fixing the visuals also, so that it's at least on par with the original, that seems like a reasonable ask. Definition is not everything.

Other than that, great update, they have plenty to fix there though so I hope they've done at least a good part of it. Also I'd love to see a NS2 update for Tropical Freeze, for which the port was actually good.

Re: Super Mario Bros. Wonder - Nintendo Switch 2 Edition + Meetup In Bellabel Park Has Been Rated

mlt

I really hope this update is not just Wonder Party. It does sound cool but I hope they also have something for solo players apart from just 120 fps. Because as much as I would love 120, I'm not buying a multiplayer add-on that I'm barely going to use just for that. And also as I've said numerous times the game needs a harder campaign, either the existing one or an extra one, but something for older Mario lovers out there.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (10th January)

mlt

I still need to finish Prime 4 . It's quite good, I love the gameplay it's fluid but it retains the feel of the original.

I played some MKW also with my family. That was nice I don't do the actual tracks much, I mainly go for the open world. So to try out the tracks themselves a bit more was refreshing. There are some truly stellar tracks in there.

I might play a bit of Ball x Pit at some point also. Great little time waster. I'm not into roguelike and I have a personal rule not to buy them, but it was on sale and this type of roguelite is more like a rng oriented arcade game if you think about it. And that's cool with me.

Re: Nintendo Expands Switch 2's GameCube Library With Another Game

mlt

@foursider
I liked the plot. It's quite hard though I don't think I'll ever go through a tactics this hard ever again, I'm just not very good at them.
One of the main criticism is that it's mainly more of the same so that might explain why it didn't grab your attention as much. Because of that I would not advice playing both back to back.

Re: GameSir And Hyperkin Reveal A Modular Pad With GameCube And N64 Layouts

mlt

Finally! A controller that allows you to switch the dpad and the stick ! I hope they release a module for a Nintendo dpad at some point, since here it looks like we have Sega and PS but that's it. That being said the PS one looks like the different directions are almost not separated so it might work.

Also I'm being super nitpicky there but if the two parts could be attached to one another to make a classic controller for docked play that would be neat.

Re: Poll: The Dragon Quest VII: Reimagined Demo Is Now Available, What Are Your First Impressions?

mlt

@Jalex_64
So Doesitplay actually says there is now around 67% of PS5 games that are playable without downloading anything. However, do they consider installing stuff as an equivalent to downloading? I get the impression that they just don't take into consideration the fact that you sometimes need to install stuff from the disk. I think they just see if the game requires extra download such as patching and also if there is some kind of DRM in place. But their stats don't include installing, or at least I don't think it does I could be wrong of course.

I'm saying this because if you look at the NS2 stats it says 69% of games don't require downloading, which if it was considering GKC as extra download it would definitely not be this number. So that makes me think they consider GKC as installing and not downloading and they don't include installing for either PS5 or NS2.
