Back when the NS2 released and everyone was surprised to see Capcom actually NOT having any plan for Monhun for what is basically the Monhun machine, people were like Wild could never run on NS2 stop dreaming guys. Now, we'll see of course, but it's not that obvious anymore.
The game is good but very forgettable and so is the soundtrack imo. People like to hate on the New series but these games are not to be treated as one monolithic entity. The console games are a lot better than the portable ones, these are the ones that feel like filler as far as I'm concerned.
A Crash series sounds like it could potentially be either fun or incredibly cringe worthy.
I wonder what Toys for Bob is up to? Crash 4 was fantastic. Weren't they partnering up with Microsoft or something? Or was their project shot down with everything else?
The story being canon makes me want to buy it but at the end of the day, less gaming time combined with games being more expensive mean stuff like Musou kind of not make the cut anymore. I'll see, it's a maybe.
@Serpenterror
Agreed the one on GB is great. It has that wonderswan vibe and it's surprisingly good. 1 and 2 were also good 3d fighters. I played the first one on PC and the second on Saturn I believe. I liked that it gave more freedom of movement than tekken for example. Virtua Fighter was way better than both though of course.
There even was a Wii game in the cards at some point I think.
Of course toshinden was more comparable to Soul Blade than tekken / VF in what it was trying to do. And it's probably Soul Calibur that destroyed any hope of coming back for toshinden.
They've hyped up the canonical story so I hope it will deliver. I hope they will do something clever with that Link construct for example. It does not send a very good signal for me.
I wonder how this is doing on NS2. It's a good game and a great star wars game. It's a bit sad that they canceled the sequel and I hope the NS2 is a redemption arc for that game.
I discovered this series back in the days with 1 and absolutely fell in love. I also played 2 and thought it was even better. I never got to try 3 and 4 though. And 4 has this aura of being a Suda game and a this sort of Wii lost classic thing with it not being brought out of Japan. I might give it a go at some point.
Then I played 5 on my WiiU and thought it was the best game I've tried in the series. It's an atmosphere behemoth and everything about its design is so focused and deliberate. It's a great game. The game also had one of these moments I thought was awesome video gaming, period. The first time I played the level that happens in the shop where the protagonist actually stays, I made my way through it, put the WiiU game pad down and thought they freaking nailed it. They absolutely nailed this moment of video game horror and it is one of my favorite moment in any horror game. It's stuff like these that you actually remember years later. I might add that as a quick Halloween session, this level is great to go through periodically.
I might add that between this, Zombi U which believe it or not I will defend to the death, and RE Revelations which is one of my favorite RE games, the WiiU for me is surprisingly associated with great horror content.
@Truegamer79
It's mainly the Wii and the NS1 though. The N64 was the most powerful console of its gen and the GC, while not as powerful as an OG Xbox, was more powerful than ps2. The WiiU on the other hand is debatable since it was better in some areas and worse in others so it really depended on the developers but even if you can't really say it's better you definitely could not say either that it was worse than say ps3. That's factually wrong.
So yeah sorry I'm probably nitpicking there, but the only consoles that were a gen behind from Nintendo were the Wii and the NS1. There's no denying that Nintendo has this reputation though and it comes from several factors in my opinion :
holding on to snes for years when the competition had moved to 32 bits and selling like crazy. And actually doing marketing in line with "look what we do with less power". Yoshi's Island comes to mind.
N64, GC and WiiU selling poorly when they were the one nintendo consoles that were trying to sell on power, so that did NOT help the audience to perceive this other aspect of the Nintendo brand
and at the same time Wii and NS1 being hugely successful while being absolutely less powerful and factually a gen behind, so on the other hand that DID help cementing this reputation in the customers collective mind.
Now with NS2 they're back with being the most powerful hardware of their category but not by much and it will be surpassed pretty quickly. So it will probably end up somewhere in the middle but I don't think it's doing enough to be remembered as a powerful console. To perceive it as such people need to take its form factor in consideration, the portable aspect, which a lot of people don't do, they'll just go ps6 pretty / NS2 not that pretty duh and that's it.
I'm not into roguelike and thus not interested in the dlc.
I'm playing through the game and it's a 7,5/8 in my book which is good but not outstanding and, sorry to bring that up again, but not on par with the legacy. Still a great time though. I just played the waste pile level and am I the only one who thinks that was kind of terrible? I mean it is so far the only part of the game that made me go god this is a chore, so it's not really something that weighs in too much in the general quality of the game but yeah... it really WAS a chore.
Also hopefully adding events will make the dlc more substantial for those who like the roguelike thing. You know what other game desperately needs free content to make it worth its price now? And also has a giant map that's just begging for content? That's right ninty, MKW. Now THIS game needs support.
I know I always go hd2d this hd2d that but for real, HD2D remakes of the Enix snes arpg trilogy!
Now that they are trying arpgs with Elliott in that style and just from the demo it seems to work just fine, come on we need Soul Blazer / Illusion of Time / Terranigma! We need Secret and Trials of Mana!
Oh and we still need FFVI and Chrono Trigger even if they're not arpgs.
I voted NSO since it is undoubtedly a very convenient way to access a good if incomplete library. But if I'm entirely honest there are actually three ways of playing nes games at my place and those are :
emulation (raspberry)
original NES that's still absolutely working fine
NSO or other game collections that should be on NSO instead
I'm using NSO the most but still really like to fire up the old NES something like twice a year since I don't have that much gaming time now, and strangely enough one of the games I really like to play when I do so is good ol Slalom. Love that game.
So no follow up to the NES30 pro? A little disappointing imo that the new controller offering is just a reskin of the very generic looking Ultimate. I mean the ultimate controller is a good controller but I would have rather had something more retro and more specific.
It's a brilliant game people should definitely give it a go! Also as others have said, I'd love for Atlus to update the game for NS2. Knowing them though and their terrible practices they'll probably just make an NS2 face-lift and sell it to you as a separate release. Prove me wrong Atlus!
I'm French and I buy most of my games at Leclerc. The prices are great and though not as good as the NS1 generation it at least makes the prices kind of normal and what they should be. Game Key Cards are a pretty good deal there since they're actually cheaper than digital for example.
@RupeeClock XII TZA is an absolutely terrific game and the Switch version is very competent. It's a joy to play and it's one of the best games ever. Go play it now it's so good and I love it so much.
I dislike VIII so much that I was thinking can I get a VII only cartridge please? I'll even pay the same price.
Or a VII/IX combo?
I mean I could just buy the VII/VIII cartridge and then reprint a nice VII boxart more akin to the one they came up with for IX and just pretend VIII doesn't exist.
I think the first one was a lot more unique and emotional simply thanks to its more artsy piano only score. I think in general Nintendo Pictures should not hesitate to take a more artsy approach to differentiate itself from an increasingly samey and increasingly suspected of being AI made CG industry. We want them to be taken seriously.
I prefer the piano only music but the new one is good too and I have to say I really like where the pikmin series is going. It's been gradually evolving to be closer and closer to the real human world and if it keeps doing that it's going to be fantastic.
My god is this incredibly cute and well made. You say it feels un-Nintendo? I don't agree with that.
Even though there's no Mario or any reference there, it absolutely feels like something nintendo would do. The designs and the feel good vibe is very ninty if you ask me. As for what it will lead to, as far as I am concerned it's pretty clear.
I say the next Pikmin type is definitely an invisible one.
There is something I have not seen mentioned too much but they found something incredible to let you use the pointer in portable mode. You just press R to turn the pointer on so to speak, and then you move the console around to move it on the screen. It's such a simple idea and it works incredibly well. I don't remember it being in 3d all stars (which I've played mainly on a tv screen, that was before THE BABY happened) was it there already?
That's because SH1 certainly is a good game but the one that really left a mark on the industry and is considered an absolute gem that is important to the story of the media itself is the second game. Also 1 already has a remake.
I imagine Yotei will win this because of novelty. For me neither DKB nor MKW are GOTY contender although they are both good games.
From what I observe of the industry though the clear GOTY is Clair Obscure. It took everyone by surprise, it's extremely well made, it's clearly a labour of love, it's a success story from underdogs who left a AAA giant, it's an absolute indie darling. All of these makes it a clear deserving GOTY much more than AAA open world number 3 billion or a multi million dollar blockbuster platformer as good as they are.
What is going on in the background there Japan? It's just not very well defined though it's true that it is closer to what's in game. Still voted for US.
Though I do think MKW is seriously lacking in content, especially in the open world department and also I think not having any kind of options for anything is incredibly disappointing, I also admit that it's excellent in a lot of ways. The gameplay is excellent, the tracks are brilliant, the gameplay loop is very addictive, the open world is fun, the roster is unexpected in a good way and the music man. The ost is flat out incredible, it's smash brothers levels of insane and it's one of the best osts ever made period.
This combined with I'm not particularly attached to a lot of Sega characters makes me choose MK still, but it's true that Sonic looks really good and I hope Nintendo sees it as a threat. That'll make them polish that 3 billion dollar game that still needs to prove what it's worth.
Gotta vote for Other M despite all the mindless hating.
That rendition of the title theme is by far the best and also it has the advantage of doubling down with an alternate title theme which is a beautiful piano piece that mirrors that other aspect of Samus.

In a sense I think the Japanese one is being more honest about what's in the box. The typical DS "app" white design is more in line with the game being very simple almost more like a technical proof of concept. That being said it was sold full price so yeah.
I've got to say the first person RE were not the ones I was hoping for but I'll support the game anyway. I've played a good deal of 7 and liked it enough even though I prefer the third person games.

Also next one should be Mario Kart World since it's basically the final boss of vg osts.

Oh. I mean that's not exactly a disappointment, ver1.00 games are extremely rare these days.
Re: Sakurai Has No Plans For Kirby Air Riders DLC: "Everything Is Here"
If on top of that it remains one of the fabled a ver1.00 games that would be insane.
I'm very tempted even if having this game so close to Mario Kart is probably not a good idea.
