Re: "If You're A Real Fan, You'll Find A Way" - Borderlands 4 Dev Gives Tone Deaf Response To Price Concerns

mlt

Borderlands is EXACTLY the kind of game I'm not going to buy anymore because of the increase in price. It's a game I like but I'm absolutely not paying this much it. Now if it was cheaper I might have considered it. Plus we all know it will be on sale soon enough.

For those who defend this comment, you do realize what he is saying not only shows impressive levels of arseholery but also simply semantically makes no sense? Come on you're better than that. Have a little self respect.

Re: Best 4K TVs For Nintendo Switch 2

mlt

I never even used a 4k tv.
Me and my friends tend to consider resolution is more of an extra and not the main feature. The main feature is stuff like imput lag and refresh rates. 4k and hdr is nice but it's just an added bonus. Plus we have kids and jobs and blah blah so we sort of left that phase where we're just looking for the biggest screen out there. Actually those of us who really like huge screens invested in projectors and they can just get rid of the screen when kids are around unless they're playing together.

There is also the thing where 4k tvs make your 1080p systems look worse. Ideally I think I would go for all the bells and whistles but not 4k and not too big of a screen. Is the option even there on the market though with all these crazy companies being so desperate to force unneeded technology as "standards", that remains to be seen.

Re: Video: 10 GameCube Games We Want On Switch 2's Online Expansion Pack

@Jhena

Okay just a thought.
We know that the NS2 is capable of streaming relatively complex stuff to 3 other systems including NS1, right? That's the game share thing.
Now just imagine if they bump it up to 4 systems and they are doing GBA compatibility support using that technology. Wouldn't that be awesome.

Also I will add that several other games have their remakes on NS1 and this has not stopped them to put the legacy version on NSO. Turok and Shadowman come to mind. So hey, maybe there is hope.

Re: Virtua Fighter 5 R.E.V.O. Announced For Switch 2

mlt

My god you're telling me on top of having USF2 and very competent ports of Strive and KOFXIII, that thing is going to get VF5, SF6 and eventually the next smash. And that's not even considering legacy stuff with the myriad of snk, arc system and capcom games out there, and even Soul Calibur 2 and stuff like Melee that's inevitably going to be a thing at some point.

That thing is already godlike for fighting games fans.

Re: Review: 1000xRESIST (Switch) - A Sci-Fi Narrative Masterpiece, Hair To Hair

@Warioware
Satoshi Kon was the new genius of Japanese animation. The kind of anime genius that helps the whole cinema industry moving forward as the Japanese so often do. Every single one of his movies rank from very good to absolutely brilliant and genre defining.

Losing him was so incredibly sad.
I would also recommend his series Paranoia Agent. It's pretty damn good.

As Kar-Wai movies go, I would also recommend his less well-known but excellent The Grandmaster which is an adaptation of martial art master biography Yip Man also called Ip Man for those who know what I'm referring to.

Re: Elden Ring On Switch 2 Will Introduce Two Brand New Character Classes

@MrDocena
Yup. Pretty much this. As I've said sure nintendo has opened the flood gates but it's highly plausible that they did not really have a choice in the matter as a way to get third party support which they absolutely need and which is one of the recurring issues attached to their brand. Despite the success of NS1 they are a bit better than they were but they still don't really have the high ground when discussing those things with giants like EA, Capcom and whatnot. They did not create that format for themselves. Blame the guys who asked for it.

Re: Poll: Box Art Brawl - Duel: 1080° Avalanche

mlt

I went for Japan. It's trying something different and the more technical clinical approach harkens back to the original 1080 promise which was hey if you want triple flips and ten feet jumps go to the competition, we're doing realism here.

Also I loved Avalanche and played it so much back in the day. I can't wait for it to hit NSO. I remember turning the music off (even though it's quite good mind you) and playing my Offspring Splinter CD in the background while going after that back and forth time attack competition I had with a friend. Great memories.

Re: Poll: Orange Or Red Switch eShop - Make Your Choice

mlt

I'm not okay with that.
Having the "who cares if it's orange or red, just make it run better" option clearly destroys the whole thing. Clearly there's a bigger proportion of red supporters who opted for that compared to the orange supporters. Us nintendo life readers deserve the truth. We deserve a proper clean divide between orange or red with only two options in the vote.

Re: Rumour: Ubisoft Might Already Be Teasing More Switch 2 Games

mlt

A NEW 2d Rayman game please. No more ports of Origins and Legends these games have been ported so many times and are constantly dirt cheap on every eshop we've all played them to death.

A collection of remasters of Rayman 2 and 3 would be neat. 2 in particular is a classic and would even make an awesome remake. A new 3d Rayman of course.

Other than that... Zombi U2 (not the band)? Loved that game and it's one of the best survival horror games I've played.

EDIT : oh and of course BG&E2 if it even exists.

Re: Louvre Says Au Revoir To Nintendo 3DS Audio Guides

mlt

I've got my copy right there on my shelf. It's an amazing piece of software. A very unique effort by nintendo and very well conceived. It's actually one of the last software I still fire up from time to time on that console so it's very much associated with 3ds in my mind.

Re: Switch 2 GameCube Controller 'Early Purchase' Goes Live Next Week (North America)

mlt

@Beeeell
Honestly, so far the only game that requires a n64 controller on the app is Jet Force Gemini. It's one hell of a game though especially now that nso save states really help with the one issue that it has and later down the line on the NS2 version of the app, the rewind feature is going to completely erase that one issue.

Other than this game though, of course the 64 controller has this very particular form factor that is going to make it the most "necessary" nso controller out of the bunch, but honestly it's mainly for comfort and there are always some workarounds that work fine by changing the controls on the system level. I will say if you are a fan of say Turok or Perfect Dark and want to play Perfect Dark at high difficulty levels or against skilled players, you're going to feel that the game has been fine tuned around the 64 stick and indeed feels more accurate and comfortable on the original controller.
