Having a Wii U game as the best thing on Switch 2 is pretty terrible.

The trailer just makes the controls look so unpleasant. Like I need to play with arms outstretched over a desk! I think the idea is that you can use the joycon mouse mode pretty much anywhere and the movement required will be much smaller, but this trailer does such a bad job of showing that!

This feels a lot like they are going for a Rocket League style game. They are going to have to do a lot more work to sell the gameplay though.

So this is going to be the major first party release for August? Or there's something else?

The best-value game on Switch 2 just got better!

I think we don't yet know if the price increase will have an impact. The console price was around the expected level, and early adopters were always likely to suck up a price rise. We already have some initial comments that third parties are disappointed with sales, which is probably largely a pricing issue. MKW was bundled so DK Bananza will be the first test of whether people are ready for a £20 jump in the price of a major Nintendo title.

Why would you tell someone you're not going to credit them? That would be like admitting you should have credited them.

It's pretty obviously a copy-paste error. The whole station is Switch 2 ads and some of the others have the same "out now" label. It just accidentally got copied to this one.

I don't get why people think she doesn't look 13. This is a cartoon character so she obviously doesn't have realistic human proportions. 13 years old is very much a child, a typical 13 year old does not look like an adult (or even what we might normally imagine as a teenager).

It's crazy how bad the official cameras are.

@RiccyBobby Lots of webcams do work, but some don't. You'd have to do some searching to find out if the specific model you want is going to work.

Pretty sure this was only shared as a joke. No one would actually try to farm coins like this when you can just get to 3000 by playing normally.

@joey302 You can keep them downloaded but you need to use virtual game cards to transfer between consoles. It's pretty painless.

Nintendo's own support are not very competent. I sent a Switch in with a noisy/broken fan and they said the mainboard needed replacing because it was overheating! Well naturally if the fan is not working! I asked for it back unrepaired and replaced the fan myself - it's worked fine for 4 years since.

As stupid as it is to deliberately puncture the box that's absolutely terrible packaging design to have the screen protected by only a single layer of cardboard.

@joey302 No, everything stays on your Switch 1 except a handful of games where the save data is removed after transfer.

@Dev-N Yeah, it's annoying you can't choose not to transfer the games where you can't keep the save data on both consoles.

@Medic_alert You can stop downloads individually by archiving the games, I don't know if there's a way to do that in bulk though.

@Ellie-Moo You can do a system transfer to Nintendo's server, then store it there until you buy a Switch 2.

@Ryu_Niiyama if you have the physical game on Switch you would still need the physical game card to play on Switch 2. Virtual game cards are only for digital purchases.

It's clear that a huge amount of dev time time has been put into this game. I don't see why it "should" be free. It might be a nice thing to get for free, but saying it should be free is nonsense.

My plan is to not have too many plans. I'm too pessimistic that my preorder will be cancelled/delayed/chucked over the neighbours fence by the courier.

Are these definitely game updates, or is it actually a Switch 2 update that improves the emulation/compatibility?

A lot of people complain about the lack of content but I think many don't realise just how much was added after launch. Even this article mistakenly states the are 10 player characters when in fact there are 15. Plus that means 45 different arms. There's a massive badge collection system that only appeared several months later. There are multiple mini games, solo mode, party mode, online, offline. And standard controls that are very effective if you don't like motion controls.

I assumed this would be smaller given that it's priced lower than RMX. 12 tracks sounds pretty good. My guess is post-launch content might include older tracks from RMX.

@Spider-Kev The game-key cards must be a much cheaper memory type, which will therefore be slower. The total storage is less relevant than the chip type itself (which we don't know ATM)

The way these are manufactured it's likely the cost of a smaller card would be negligible, so there might not be any point offering 8/16/32GB cards.

@dequesi This is a good question. I originally thought this was the release day list, but it doesn't look like they've committed to releasing these on release day, or committed to any other games getting free updates.

Virtual game cards seem like a much clearer, simpler system but it seems odd that they rolled this out to Switch now rather than just making it the new way for Switch 2. I guess they wanted to maintain compatibility, but it seems to have surprised a lot of people who suddenly can't play due to using multiple consoles.

Couldn't you always re-download games by opening the game from the normal games list? I don't remember having to go to the eshop for anything.

These over-priced collectors editions are scummy enough as it is. $250 for a pile of waste plastic.

For £75 I'm definitely waiting for reviews and some extensive real-world longevity testing. I won't be rushing to buy extra joycons for similar reasons.

I'll be keeping my OG Switch for a few reasons. Backwards compatibility is only ~95%. Gameshare might be a nice feature. And my family can use I while I hog the Switch 2...

At 71GB this games costs £13.86 to store on an official Nintendo SD express card.

@the_beaver I'm not suggesting you should, but you literally can buy it right now without owning a switch 2 console.

I'm guessing that means Switch 1 games with a Switch 2 upgrade will work, but Switch 2 exclusives won't allow gameshare on Switch 1.

I was quite pro these game-key cards as better than code-in-a-box, but if they are being used this widely then it's a concern. We'll have to wait and see how pricing ends up once we are beyond the launch period.

Why was this even a question? If they were adding the DLC they would have made it very clear it was a bundle. Why would you think it might be there when they didn't say it was?

@RubyCarbuncle Argos has absolutely charged the full amount for my pre-order, it's not a pending transaction.

My recommendation is to use a credit card for section 75 protection.

"Don't bother going to GAME stores" is good advice in general

I think we're going to get cross-gen releases for a few more years. A lot of indies won't have need of the improved hardware and I wouldn't be surprised if we even get more Nintendo titles after Metroid Prime 4 with a standard and Switch 2 Edition.
