For £75 I'm definitely waiting for reviews and some extensive real-world longevity testing. I won't be rushing to buy extra joycons for similar reasons.
I'll be keeping my OG Switch for a few reasons. Backwards compatibility is only ~95%. Gameshare might be a nice feature. And my family can use I while I hog the Switch 2...
I was quite pro these game-key cards as better than code-in-a-box, but if they are being used this widely then it's a concern. We'll have to wait and see how pricing ends up once we are beyond the launch period.
Why was this even a question? If they were adding the DLC they would have made it very clear it was a bundle. Why would you think it might be there when they didn't say it was?
I think we're going to get cross-gen releases for a few more years. A lot of indies won't have need of the improved hardware and I wouldn't be surprised if we even get more Nintendo titles after Metroid Prime 4 with a standard and Switch 2 Edition.
The idea that the real price will be under £75 misses the point. Switch 1 games launch at around £40. (I think £43 is the most I've paid for a day 1 purchase) Switch 2 games are going to be £55-£65. So possibly around a 50% increase! We will have to wait and see how much margin retailers have on this as there's not much competition yet.
I feel like they've just inflated the price of Mario Kart to make the bundle look better value. We can see that most games are actually less than this.
I feel like it has to be cross gen. This is nothing like the BOTW situation where buying the Wii U version locked you out of the Switch version. It will automatically work on Switch 2, and I would hope you can just buy a single version of the game that works on both consoles but is enhanced for Switch 2. (And you can begin on Switch 1 and seamlessly transfer your saves to Switch 2 later)
I just don't see how they can make it Switch 2 exclusive after all this time, but also they can't just release a flagship game this close to Switch 2's release that plays exactly the same on their latest hardware.
@StewdaMegaManNerd It's purely for marketing - they want to make it clear to adults (who are the target market) that this is for them, and not merely a child's toy.
Nintendo has never been "nice". Using legal action to take down youtube videos or emulators is just a continuation of what they've always done. "Game Over" by David Sheff describes how ruthless they were in the 80s and 90s.
Magnets are strong in one direction but will more easily slide off each other. I think they solved that not with stronger magnets but with the shape and depth that the joycons go into the side of the Switch body.

Re: Limited Run's Atlus Switch 2 Collector's Edition Is A 'Game-Key Card' Release
These over-priced collectors editions are scummy enough as it is. $250 for a pile of waste plastic.

Re: Switch 2 "Code-In-A-Box" Physical Game Listing Spotted Online
At 71GB this games costs £13.86 to store on an official Nintendo SD express card.
Re: Fast Fusion Price On Switch 2 Puts Welcome Tour To Shame
@the_beaver I'm not suggesting you should, but you literally can buy it right now without owning a switch 2 console.
Re: Fast Fusion Price On Switch 2 Puts Welcome Tour To Shame
£13.49?! That is an instant purchase.
Re: Exclusive: Shin'en Talks 'Fast Fusion' On Switch 2, Reveals First-Look Trailer
@Sebos Gameshare "Nintendo Switch systems can only receive games that are compatible with Nintendo Switch."
I'm guessing that means Switch 1 games with a Switch 2 upgrade will work, but Switch 2 exclusives won't allow gameshare on Switch 1.
Re: Nintendo Confirms Upgrade Pack Price For Two More 'Switch 2 Edition' Titles
Exactly the expected price
Re: Switch 2 Game-Key Cards Won't Make It Easy For Physical Collectors In Japan

Re: Zelda: BOTW Switch 2 Edition Won't Include The DLC, Nintendo Confirms
@Orpheus79V £66.99, so the upgrade is £7

Re: UK Switch 2 Fans, Don't Bother Going To GAME Stores For Your Pre-Order
@RubyCarbuncle Argos has absolutely charged the full amount for my pre-order, it's not a pending transaction.
My recommendation is to use a credit card for section 75 protection.
Re: UK Switch 2 Fans, Don't Bother Going To GAME Stores For Your Pre-Order
"Don't bother going to GAME stores" is good advice in general
Re: Don't Worry, Hollow: Knight Silksong Is Still Coming To The Original Switch

Re: Nintendo Outlines Switch Online's Updated Tiers Including Switch 2 Exclusives
So there's no increase for Switch 2? That's good at least.
Re: Where To Pre-Order Zelda: Breath Of The Wild On Nintendo Switch 2
We're pre-ordering 8 year old Wii U games now...
Re: Nintendo Delays Switch 2 Pre-Orders In The US Amidst New Trump Tariffs
So the high prices were not allowing for tarriffs. USA is so screwed.
Re: Where To Pre-Order Super Mario Party Jamboree + Jamboree TV On Nintendo Switch 2
Assuming the upgrade will be £20 on the eshop, this price is crazy (and hopefully the upgrades will be less than that)
Re: Where To Pre-Order Nintendo Switch 2
Had an email from Curry's that they are now accepting pre-orders in-store, hopefully that's useful for some!
Re: Hands On: 'Drag x Drive' Is Fantastic, But Is It Destined To Be Switch 2's ARMS?
ARMS was an amazing game. Brilliant gameplay, fun characters and over 2M sales.
This looks like a tech demo.
Re: Nintendo Switch 2 First-Party File Sizes Are Surprisingly Small
23.4GB for MKW is surprisingly big!
Re: Nintendo Switch 2 Welcome Tour Price Has Been Confirmed
£5 for a demo is still £5 too much
Re: "Don't Let Nintendo Ruin The Entire Industry" - Is $80 For Mario Kart World A Bridge Too Far?
Mario Kart World is basically selling for £34 in the bundle which is the same as MK8DX costs when it's on sale!
Re: "Don't Let Nintendo Ruin The Entire Industry" - Is $80 For Mario Kart World A Bridge Too Far?
I feel like they've just inflated the price of Mario Kart to make the bundle look better value. We can see that most games are actually less than this.
Re: Switch 2 Mario Kart World Bundle Will Be A "Limited Time" Offer
@Bobobiwan It is a thing, "Game-Key cards", but not for all games. I don't think any games have been announced to be using this yet.
Re: Nintendo's Switch 2 'Game-Key Cards' Somehow Manage To Make Codes-In-A-Box Worse
Assuming these are reusable (not a one-time download) it's a huge improvement over code-in-a-box releases.

Re: Talking Point: Which Switch Game Needs A 'Nintendo Switch 2 Edition' The Most?
I'm highly unlikely to pay to upgrade a Switch game, but likely I'd buy the Switch 2 edition of anything the comes out cross-gen.

@N00BiSH Yeah this makes a lot of sense for Nintendo, they can avoid relying on social media.
Re: Rumour: Latest Switch 2 Theory Suggests Release Date Might Be Right Around The Corner
The Mario Kart Lego set isn't even based on the design from Mario Kart 9, so it's clearly not a direct tie-in to the new game.
Re: Rumour: Latest Switch 2 Theory Suggests Release Date Might Be Right Around The Corner
Reader, it's entirely speculation.

Re: The Lego Game Boy May Be Reasonably Cheap If New Leak Is To Be Believed
$60 for a 400 piece set isn't cheap, especially as this is likely made from a lot of small elements.
The NES set was really a model TV with Super Mario display, the actual NES model was less than half the set.
Re: Nintendo Is Discontinuing Gold Points, One Of The Switch's Best Incentives
@BongoBongo 5.26% if we're being pedantic
Re: Game Vouchers Won't Work On Switch 2 Exclusives, Says Nintendo
Hopefully removing vouchers and gold points means they are doing just this to increase prices and not increasing the base RRP of games by £10/$10.
Re: Nintendo Is Discontinuing Gold Points, One Of The Switch's Best Incentives
So basically they just increased all digital prices by 5%. Lovely.
Re: Retailer GAME Accused Of "Scalping" Pokémon Cards Thanks To Insane Delivery Fees
My local GAME has closed now. Seems they are just trying to extract as much profit as possible while they run it into the ground.
Re: Rumour: Placeholder Retail Listing Suggests Switch 2 Price Might Be Cheaper Than Expected
I assume Nintendo hasn't given price info to retailers yet, so scouring their databases for prices is basically irrelevant.
Re: Don't Worry, Nintendo's Thinking About Affordability With Switch 2 Pricing
@Member_the_game I remember £280 was a lot for Switch given that I'd only paid £199 for a Wii U bundled with 2 games!

Re: Analyst States That Switch 2's Price Won't "Really Matter" For Early Adopters
@WiltonRoots True but an RRP increase will come with a wholesale price increase too, so discounted prices will still rise
