Nintendo are always working on new hardware. It looks like their current plan is new iterations every two years. I don't think they have an actual "Switch Pro" planned. To my mind we've already had two Switch Pros, first better battery life, second better screen. If and when they decide a faster CPU/GPU is cost effective we might get Switch 4 with improved graphics.
The problem is, if you announce a working title then change it you lose potential marketing as people don't associate the names. Just look at Untitled Goose Game.
First gen consoles didn't have interchangeable games (only variations on Pong). A games console is anything that's primarily built to play video games.
@Tourtus @Markiemania95 This isn't the case in the UK. Here there are no codes to redeem, you just add it to your basket and it deducts the point on checkout.
I'd like to know what process resulted in this box art. I assume someone was commissioned with very little to go on, then they just went with the result rather than asking for improvements. It does seem very odd that they decided the Famicom art wasn't suitable (arguably they were right to want something else for the US) but then ended up using this one.
Played this on mobile but it was underwhelming. Storyline was fine, but there was no real puzzling involved, just read all the clues, then have Osgood explain everything to you anyway.
Wow! If you'd asked me yesterday what kind of article would lead to a comment section like this then "Kid in Samus costume" would not have been on my list
The playdate is a nice novelty, but the comparison is mostly meaningless. If Nintendo release a console they probably want to target a few more than 20,000 sales.
Also, you'd think WATA would at least be able to provide a sensible landscape oriented box. Someone just spent $1.5m on something they can only display sideways?
@rjejr But for gaming the latency is much more important than overall download speed, so a 100Mb wired connection is likely to be better than a 300Mb WiFi connection.
Looks like they didn't update joy-cons at all, which is a missed opportunity. Overall this is a nice upgrade for handheld players, but does pretty much nothing for home players.
I played this in an arcade sometime in the 90s. I remember thinking the "graphics" were impressive, and having no idea how to time it right and losing miserably
@Noid That's because of the way the system works. Basically any set of characters is a valid password, so long as the last couple of characters make the correct checksum to validate it.
Stock prices are dumb. If there is a Pro coming then it likely still makes sense for them to announce it separately from E3. Otherwise it would have dominated the media instead of the actual game announcements.
@Mr-Fuggles777 They've announced several upcoming games, and obviously will be announcing more tomorrow. Announcing "x is in development" doesn't really help anyone.
@AvianBlue Well announcing MP4 backfired on them quite significantly, and I'm surprised they announced Bayonetta so far in advance (and I suspect is actually taking a lot longer than they expected). Personally, I'd rather they didn't announce things until they're at least at a point where they can show a gameplay trailer.

Re: Review: Metroid Dread - Quite Possibly The Best Metroid Game Ever Made
The big question is, will I have time to finish Fusion before Friday?

@tsim21 My money is on Mario Kart 9 being the launch title for Switch 2

Other web stores are significantly cheaper and still offering the free gifts.

Re: Rumour: It Looks Like Nintendo Will Soon Unveil A New Controller For Switch
Seems like FCC needs to fix its processes. If they've agreed confidentiality then why are they publishing manufacturer, model number and product type?
Re: 'WATA Certified' Copy Of Sonic The Hedgehog Sells For Record Price
It's clearly market manipulation. Why else would the most common games be hitting these record prices rather than the rarest?
Re: Switch Firmware Update 13.0.0 Speeds Up Game Boot Times
If the animation doesn't finish isn't that a bug?
Re: Talking Point: Was The GameCube Really A Portable Console In Disguise?
I used to travel with my GameCube, it was pretty convenient. Though really the remodelled PSOne was probably more portable.
Re: Daemon X Machina Is Probably Getting A Sequel, But It's Going To "Take Time"
I'm sort of surprised it sold well enough for a sequel
Re: Rumour: Switch Will Reportedly Receive A Price Cut Ahead Of The OLED Model's Launch
Seems sensible to me. Entry price Switch and premium Switch. Both will have their target markets.

Ooh, they are really nice. I might be tempted to nick the idea and make my own though, it would be a fun hobby-project.

Not exactly news then...

Started a second playthrough this week (after never quite completing the first) and I'm enjoying it more than I expected. Really good game.

Re: Talking Point: What's Your Switch Game Of 2021 So Far?
I've yet to buy a 2021 release, so I guess it's Pac-Man 99 for me. Too busy with older releases.

@NatiaAdamo @Rosona This trial version is the Jumbo edition - just follow the link from Nintendo's tweet.

Definitely giving this one a try!
Re: This Unofficial 'Life-Sized' LEGO Mario Can Be Yours For, Erm, $900
I'm not sure what's worse, $900 for less than 5000 pieces, or $65 for a PDF instruction file.
Re: Round Up: The Zelda: Skyward Sword HD Reviews Are In
The only question is, is it worth $40 more than the version that you can still buy on the Wii U eshop?

Re: A Sealed Copy Of Super Mario 64 Just Sold For A Record-Breaking $1.56 Million
This all seems a little suspicious. Surely the best-selling N64 game is going to be one of the least rare items?
Re: This Ultra-Rare Copy Of The Original NES Zelda Just Sold For $870,000
It'd be cool if the buyer just opens it and plays the game

Re: Soapbox: Could Switch OLED Actually Make A Reality Of Nintendo's Cheesy Tabletop Dream?
I use tabletop a fair amount. Primarily so that I can play without a TV but still use a pro controller or split joy con.
The whole point of the switch is its flexibility. Just because you only use one mode occasionally doesn't mean it's not great to have the option.

For anyone wondering the US price is $349.99. Source: https://www.nintendo.com/switch/oled-model/

It's the Wii U, it can't need to sell more than a few dozen to top the charts.
Re: Nintendo Reassures Us That Bayonetta 3 "Still Exists" Despite E3 No-Show
Maybe when they announced it they should also have mentioned it wouldn't been seen again for another 4 years or more.

Re: Retro: Remember The First Time Nintendo Did A Zelda Game & Watch?
I had one of these back in the day. The Zelda theme was cool. It was a bit deeper than your typical G&W title but still not really an adventure game.

Better than Prime 4
