Slighty disappointed they are reducing tricolour battles. It might be unbalanced but it's a new mode that's only available for half of splatfest, so reducing it even more seems a shame.
@rjejr You don't need to stick with splattershot. You can buy any 3 weapons with the tickets you get for transferring splatoon 2 save data - no need to reach the right level.
@RushDawg I disagree. They've only announced that there will be paid DLC, not what it is. It's good that they are honest up front that there will be more to (optionally) pay for. Simply waiting a few months to announce it doesn't make it any better or worse value.
@mariomaster96 Nintendo will have funded them to make an exclusive, so you might find there's actually less risk in this than in something cheaper to make that might still not sell well.
@EarthboundBenjy It ignores games you haven't played in the last 12 months. If you play BotW for a few minutes it will suddenly remember all your hundreds of hours.
That's a lot of money for a Raspberry Pi in a big box. I thought the point of this kind of thing was to have a real original arcade machine in your living room, not an oversized NES mini.
Sunshine being 20 years old makes me feel very old, but then I realised it wasn't released in Europe until October so I can continue feeling young for a few more months!
Buying shares isn't "spending". Those shares will still be worth ~$43k. They funded it from other shares, so they weren't even taking any additional risk.
@Diogmites Yes, kind of, but Kate specifically mentions "The Cave of Time" which is the first book in the actual CYOA series. The Fighting Fantasy series was somewhat different.
My inner pedant would like to point out that Sorcery! is part of the Fighting Fantasy series, "Choose Your Own Adventure" was an entirely different book series.
I doubt it's because it's too scary. He's probably not following Nintendo's guidelines for the balance board - like the game asking people to jump off it or something.
The micro was a novelty console. The SP already massively improved the GBA, but the micro was a step backwards (not least because it released after the DS!)
Vampire devices are largely a myth, however having got a smart meter I did discover my old amp was using about 30w in standby, so it can be worth checking.
@Rosona Yeah, I quite understand. If I had to guess I'd say I have more games than the average Switch owner, but fewer games than the average NintendoLife commenter
If you have a big collection then I guess you'll enjoy putting them into groups, but I doubt it will have much effect on your "magpie" instincts
I know people have been asking for folders for years but personally I don't see any use for them. If a game has dropped off the Home screen then it's unlikely I was that interested in playing it anyway, and if I do want to find an old game it doesn't take long to scroll through the All Software screen. So, no groups for me.

Re: Poll: So, How Are You Pronouncing Zelda: Tears Of The Kingdom?
It has to be crying tears, to match up with "breath" of the wild, both bodily functions.
Re: Here's A Look At The Stunning Box Art For Zelda: Tears Of The Kingdom
That is rather nice
Re: Hori Officially Announces Switch Split Pad Compact Western Release
@wuntyme8 I'm not sure what you're after specifically but the Switch OS already allows you to re-map every button and save multiple configurations.
Re: Splatoon 3 Connection Issues? Looks Like An Update Is On Its Way
@rjejr You don't need to stick with splattershot. You can buy any 3 weapons with the tickets you get for transferring splatoon 2 save data - no need to reach the right level.
Re: Splatoon 3 Becomes The Fastest Selling Nintendo Switch Game In Japan
"Although the first entry sold modest numbers"
In context, it sold 4.95m to a user base of just 13.5m. 6th best-selling game on Wii U. That's extremely impressive.
Re: PSA: Get Muting Folks, Splatoon 3 Spoilers Are Inking All Over The Internet
@Rykdrew I recently sold Splatoon 2 for about £25. Five year old Splatoon games definitely have value.
Re: Got Joy-Con Drift? Don't Worry, Those Switch Controllers Can Live On As Works Of Art
£170?! It's missing pieces and the rails are upside down.
Re: Nintendo Announces Splatoon 3 "Large-Scale Paid DLC", Details Two Years Of Post-Launch Support
@RushDawg I disagree. They've only announced that there will be paid DLC, not what it is. It's good that they are honest up front that there will be more to (optionally) pay for. Simply waiting a few months to announce it doesn't make it any better or worse value.
Re: Check Out Splatoon 3's New Trading Card Minigame That's Looks A Bit Like Tetris
If this is well made I could imagine spending more time playing this than real turf war. I just hope there are no microtransactions.
Re: Super Punch-Out!! Hidden Two-Player Mode Discovered 28 Years Later
Looks like a dev back door so they could easily try out all the characters for testing. Pretty amazing if this stayed undiscovered for so long.
Re: UK Charts: Xenoblade Chronicles 3 Drops While Switch Sports Climbs Back Up
@mariomaster96 Nintendo will have funded them to make an exclusive, so you might find there's actually less risk in this than in something cheaper to make that might still not sell well.

Re: PSA: Are Your Switch Games Disappearing? You May Have Too Many - But You Can Fix It
"640 games ought to be enough for anybody" - Bill Gates
Re: PSA: Are Your Switch Games Disappearing? You May Have Too Many - But You Can Fix It
I didn't think there were that many demos
Re: Nintendo Direct For Splatoon 3 Confirmed For This Week
I'm hoping for ranked seasons or some kind of weekly/monthly challenges.
Re: GAME's 'Home Arcade' Range Lets You Build The Arcade Of Your Dreams
That's a lot of money for a Raspberry Pi in a big box. I thought the point of this kind of thing was to have a real original arcade machine in your living room, not an oversized NES mini.
Re: Nintendo Twitter Account Supposedly Teases New Modes And More For Splatoon 3
@outsider83 It's always been this way - Ms Pac Man, Donkey Kong Jr. onwards
Truly great original games are very rare.
Re: Random: People Are Getting Pretty Worried About Splatoon 3
I've already sold Splatoon 2 in preparation for Splatoon 3, so I'm not even that bothered if it is more of the same.
Re: Nintendo Says To Stop Using Its Wi-Fi USB Connector Due To Security Concerns
IIRC the DS only support WEP security and is therefore now always insecure, which makes the advice to switch to another device a bit dubious.
Re: Soapbox: Super Mario Sunshine Wasn't Bad, It Was Just Ahead Of Its Time
Sunshine being 20 years old makes me feel very old, but then I realised it wasn't released in Europe until October so I can continue feeling young for a few more months!
Re: Mario Galaxy Meets Rocket League (With Guns) In Twin-Stick Shooter 'Aniquilation'
@BabyYoda71 It really doesn't. There are a few bits of Galaxy where you move around on small brown planets, but even those look nothing like this.
Re: Mario Galaxy Meets Rocket League (With Guns) In Twin-Stick Shooter 'Aniquilation'
This looks nothing at all like Mario Galaxy or Rocket League
Re: LEGO Confirms Rumours With New 18+ Bowser Set, Which You Can Actually Fight
@Hero-of-WiiU It is. Lots of lego sets are aimed at adults now.
Re: Nintendo Launches Subscription Service For Switch Repairs In Japan
@abdias That's news to me. How can I tell which sticks are drift-proof?
Re: Nintendo Launches Subscription Service For Switch Repairs In Japan
I was about to say that's pretty scummy, but actually £12 per year for 6 repairs and includes accidental damage sounds like a nice deal.
Re: Random: "Die-Hard Nintendo Fan" Reportedly Forked Out Over $40K To Ask For A New F-Zero
Buying shares isn't "spending". Those shares will still be worth ~$43k. They funded it from other shares, so they weren't even taking any additional risk.
Re: Portal 2 Beta Levels Discovered In Datamine Of The Switch Version
Is the Switch version a good port? Does it have gyro controls?
Re: Nintendo Showcases Some Slick New Hairstyles And Eyebrows For Splatoon 3
So we know we can customise eyebrows, but still no confirmations of any ranked modes.
Re: Nintendo Direct Mini To Air Tomorrow, June 28
It's almost like people want Directs more than they want games.
Re: Rumour: Down Time For 'My Nintendo Store' Could Point To A Direct Next Week
That's a very long maintenance window
Re: Review: Steve Jackson's Sorcery! - One Of Switch's Very Best Narrative Games
@Rambler Haha, glad I'm not the only pedant!
@KateGray That's fair, I shall put my inner pedant away for now
Re: Review: Steve Jackson's Sorcery! - One Of Switch's Very Best Narrative Games
@Diogmites Yes, kind of, but Kate specifically mentions "The Cave of Time" which is the first book in the actual CYOA series. The Fighting Fantasy series was somewhat different.

Re: Developer Says Nintendo Turned Down Upcoming Wii U Horror Game For Being "Too Scary"
I doubt it's because it's too scary. He's probably not following Nintendo's guidelines for the balance board - like the game asking people to jump off it or something.
Re: Random: You Can Complete The Mine Cart Mini-Game In Super Mario RPG Without Actually Playing It
I didn't know there was a mine cart mini game, because it's still not available on NSO.
Re: Random: Did The Sims Copy Animal Crossing: New Horizons' Froggy Chair?
Frog chairs existed IRL way before Animal Crossing did
Re: Random: It Looks Like Activision Blizzard's 'Diversity Tool' Analysed Super Mario And Co. Years Ago
I'm just bemused that they thought having a tool to determine diversity was avoiding tokenism - it literally is tokenism!
Re: Nintendo Says It Wants To Avoid A Repeat Of Wii U With Switch's Successor
Apple manage to release a new iphone every year with barely any improvements and they seem to be doing OK
Re: Reggie Thought Game Boy Micro Was "A Nonstarter" But Was "Forced" To Launch It
The micro was a novelty console. The SP already massively improved the GBA, but the micro was a step backwards (not least because it released after the DS!)
Re: Reggie Had To Fight For Wii Sports As A Pack-In, And Miyamoto Wasn't Happy
@AndyC_MK111 I don't think they ever had pack-in games for the Japan releases though.
Re: Nintendo Reportedly Expecting 10% Decrease In Switch Sales Due To Supply Issues
I'd be interested to know how many of those 20m are sold to households that already have switch.
Re: Review In Progress: Nintendo Switch Sports - Familiar Fun With Friends, But Little More
They've dropped the best Wii Sport, which was Frisbee Dog. I'll just stick to playing on my Wii U.
Re: British Gas Advises Consumers To Turn Off Games Consoles To Save Money
Vampire devices are largely a myth, however having got a smart meter I did discover my old amp was using about 30w in standby, so it can be worth checking.
Re: Poll: Will You Play Splatoon 2's DLC Now That It's Included In Switch Online's Expansion Pack?
I'm not sure I like this move. Now I have to second-guess whether it's worth buying any game's DLC, in case it's later free with NSO.
Re: Splatoon 3 Gets September Release And Extended New Footage
5 years since Splatoon 2 and all we get are some new weapons and arenas.
However, day 1 purchase.
Re: Zelda: Breath Of The Wild 2 Delay Sees Nintendo Shares Slump 6%
Yes, let's conveniently ignore the fact that the price is still higher than a week ago, and higher than a month ago and higher than 6 months ago...
Re: The Legend Of Zelda: Breath Of The Wild 2 Delayed To Spring 2023
For everyone suggesting a March 2023 release, I'm pretty sure Nintendo considers "Spring" to be April/May/June.
