The touchscreen seems kind of clunky in this case. The authentic way to play is with two joycons simulating a wii remote and nunchuk. Galaxy didn't really have motion controls - it had pointer control and a single flick-to-spin control.
It's odd that there's so much talk about "drift" but very little news about the side rail failures. 3 out of 4 of my joy-cons the side rail has failed (lights and SL/SR buttons not working). It appears to be a design defect with the ribbon connector.
The potential for tracks just looks extremely limited. The karts look like they need a very flat surface. And how tight is the turning circle? That will be key to using it in smaller rooms. I assume it uses the 4 gates to calibrate the software to the real world, so although they imply you can make any layout I'm guessing you can't go too far between gates.
If we get a Switch Pro it will be 1080. 4k is years away on Nintendo consoles. And rightly, I see no reason to chase specs that many people simply don't care about.
Don't all arcade racers have rubber-banding? It seems to me that without it you'd just spend entire races either significantly ahead or significantly behind, and the whole thing just becomes a time trial.
@TheFrenchiestFry lots of GameCube games supported widescreen. It seems quite likely they developed it with widescreen in mind but ended up not including it in the final release (maybe for performance reasons).
@LilMuku The Wii Virtual Console wasn't free. Those 209 games would have cost something like $1000+ to buy them all. On the Switch there are 80 games included with NSO, plus tons of other retro games available to buy - they just aren't under the same "Virtual Console" banner.
Not only is this a stupid restriction, it's not even consistent. Luigi's Mansion has plenty of characters unique to that series. Why can't Paper Mario?
@SwitchVogel I imagine the issue with that is that it takes significantly more dev time to make a Switch game than a 3DS one. Plus all the Wii U ports take time too, less than a new game but definitely a significant amount of time.

Re: Where To Pre-Order Mario Kart Live: Home Circuit On Nintendo Switch
@antdickens £200 to play 2 player seems very cheeky
Re: Mario Kart Live: Home Circuit Uses Real RC Cars And Augmented Reality
@Anti-Matter I genuinely don't expect a Mario Kart 9 until Switch 2
Re: Mario Kart Live: Home Circuit Uses Real RC Cars And Augmented Reality
Looks really fun, but only if you own a massive house with a hard floor.

@Miyamotosan @WrongChops $49.99 according to the press release in the Direct article.

Re: Nintendo UK Store Opens Pre-Orders For Cadence Of Hyrule's Physical Edition

Re: Reminder: Splatoon 2's Next Bonus Splatfest Takes Place This Weekend, With More On The Way

Re: This Newly Discovered POW Block Bug Freezes Paper Mario: The Origami King
These kind of glitches are commonplace in other games, the Lego series springs to mind.
Re: Nintendo Switch Sales Surpass 61 Million, Equalling The Mighty NES
At this point in the NES's lifecycle it hadn't even released in the UK yet.
Re: Carrion's Controversial Nintendo Switch Menu Icon Has Been Changed
Yeah, this was clearly deliberately done for publicity. And here we are. I guess their marketing manager will get a bonus.
Re: Japanese Charts: Switch Sales Surpass 12 Million As Animal Crossing Returns To Number One
"surpass 12 million"
but actually 14.4 million including the Lite (which is still a Switch)
Re: Paper Mario Producer Says Team Is "No Longer Able To Graphically Represent Individual Characteristics" In Toad NPCs
@westman98 So then there isn't really a problem? Just use unique characters instead of endless identical Toads?

Not only is this a stupid restriction, it's not even consistent. Luigi's Mansion has plenty of characters unique to that series. Why can't Paper Mario?
Re: Talking Point: Are You Prepared To Spend $70 On The Latest Games?
I remember the N64 release at £250 with £70 Turok. Suffice to say I bought a Playstation instead.

Re: Fans Have Discovered A Private Mario 35th Anniversary Twitter Account
It's a twitter account, even if it's genuine it's hardly evidence of anything much.
Re: Nintendo Kicks Off Weekly 'Double Gold Points' Promotion (Europe)
Double gold points is the kind of offer that should be on the whole eshop, not a measly 3 games.

Re: Splatoon 2 Version 5.2.2 Update Patch Notes
It seems weird that they keep making maintenance updates, which require effort, but don't continue to have splatfests, which require no effort.
Re: Wonderful 101 Kickstarter Backers Hit With Customs Charges And Handling Fees
I saw that they would be shipping from the US and assumed there might be import duty. It was one of the things that put me off backing it.
