I've played all the Xeno games. And it's the only JRPG series I feel hasn't sold its soul through nostalgia pandering. Sure, they slap the Xeno of everything...but the gameplay, plot, music, and characters are always changing in smart ways.
I feel like they're making an amazing, original game, without watered down content. Monolith should sit on Squaresoft's old throne...too bad most people are still too busy worshiping the inbred son which is Sqaure Enix to realize the true succesor to king of JRPGs.
I've decided to be the one person who isn't a regular show fanboy responding to your post. I don't know why it's still a thing either, but I also don't know how Family Guy, The Simpsons, or tons of other shark jumping shows are still things as well.
That said, Family Guy and Simpsons were originally gold...I barely got through one episode of Regular Show.
And to people referencing South Park: they have a team of lawyers that find ways to squeeze by lawsuits. One of which is not every saying something directly about someone. Saying Mitchell flat out "cheats" isn't something South Park would do. They'd just show him cheating without saying it.
People must be really upset by his reviews. Just let the author write the review for Xenoblade so he can write a positive one for a change...unless he hates that too..in which case he's dooooooooomed T_T.
Seriously though, Xenoblade Chronicles X looks like a swish. If you're angry he gave a low score to Devil's Third and Mario Tennis then you're playing the wrong game.
Looks at Bayonnetta, Fast Racing Neo, Smash Bros. 4, Mario Kart, and tons of other visually impressive games ... Looks at Afterbirth ... ... ... I get people don't want to put games on WiiU for monetary or technical misunderstanding, but after seeing the amazing visuals on Wii U already that severly outclass Binding of Isaac...it just makes tweets like this look foolish.
Emulators are like bongs, By itself it's nothing intimidating or illegal...but we ALL know what it's going to be used for so why even make the "technically is legal" excuse when we all know why it's there.
I still don't get the obsession of gender swapping Link. I totally agree there should be a Zelda game with a main female character, but how about, uh, I dunno...Zelda?!!! Or Impa, or any other tons of cool female LoZ characters.
Linkle seems more like a weird anime/hentai fetish and less of actual gender equality.
Zelda game where Zelda is the main character...it's really that simple...
Yeah, when I heard they were making these packs available I figured it'd be unplayable off disc, but that's not too horrible. That said, I'll at least download a few of the packs just for the sake of convenience. It's neat they provide it but don't require it.
As much as KDR was a silly way to go about ranking, I think the Win to Loss ratio idea is even worse.
At least with KDR represented probably 50-60% of your skill (not so much if you're just camping for kills). Win/Loss represents 25% of your skill at best. I've been on so many teams where I'm destroying the other team (holding the tower, controlling zones, killing two/three team people at once, assasinating camping snipers, etc.)...and we still get destroyed because my team decides it's wise to run head first into a bunch of bubble shields, Krakens, camping roller flickers, camping Aerosprays, and snipers.
Some kind of combination of KDR and Win/Loss would make more sense to show how much YOU contributed to your team.
Gaccck, Gaaaaaackk, uuurrrrrrkk...sorry I'm dry reaching because of how sick this makes me. There are legions of of amazing Nintendo characters that could have filled the roster slot...but instead we get...Cloud. A character with zero history with Nintendo before that hash-out upcoming cross-over that's coming out. Not to mention all the big name games Cloud is in are on Sony systems. Who's next? Goku?
Don't get me wrong. I actually really like FFVII (still own the PS version), but this is the dumbest roster fill. Dumber than Ryu...which is REALLY hard to believe I'm saying that. We should just get a DLC stage where the characters fight on top of a PS4 and be done with it.
In terms of level design, fun, and raw creativity I might have to agree. Galaxy 2 did pretty much everything extremely well. Factoring in nostalgia, insanely crisp controls, creative secret exits, and phenomenal overworld then I have to agree with the list and go with Mario World.
To be fair it's hard to compared 2D and 3D though so I'd say they're both my favorites and overall this is a pretty good list. I always thought Mario 3 was a tad overrated though.
Haha, that was my exact same response. This game taken sooooo much longer to release than promised. It really killed the hype fo rme too. I'll probably still get it....probably. I could always get it on Steam, but I love the off-screen aspect of the Wii U too much.
Gaaaaaaaaaaawd, I know. That one-hit kill flick makes camping WAAAAAAAY too OP. Combine that with OP specials like the Kracken and it starts to ruin the fun of an otherwise extremely fun game.
Calling it a Master's Thesis is being awfully generous

Mario Maker looks amazing. I won't a few things I don't like ruin the experience for me...or whine incessantly to fans...on a Nintendo fan site...
Yeah, that's exactly the vibe I was getting. It starting out feeling like a triumph over Capcom's lack of care for its Megaman fans...but now it's feeling way to much like Capcom with more interest in bleeding fans that appealing to them.
I think it's less hacking and more the Aerospray RG being overpowered. Especially with special gauge boosting skills.
-Cover a center area QUICKLY with the Aerospray RG -Launch a rocket -Camp and kill everyone who runs in before they see you because of the absurb fire rate -Recover whatever space the people you camped took -Launch another rocket
Now imagine this pattern with 3-4 Aerospray RGs on the same team. It's the same tactic with the Kraken Roller. Cover, camp, Kraken, repeat.

Haha, I was thinking the same thing. I actually got news of the supreme court decision and the Fire Emblem decision on the same day! (I'm a little behind with the news sometimes).
Yeah, I agree with your ALL CAPS RESPONSE Kraken is broken, I'm glad they're trying to fix it. Now if they'd just nerf that stupid gold aerospray gun, I'd be really happy.
sigh. Roy and Lucas are a given because they were in previous games and still somewhat relevant to Nintendo's future, but Ryu is one of the biggest wastes of a roster slot I've ever seen. He's already in too many fighting games, and Capcom has pretty much pulled 90% of support for Nintendo platforms...bet hey, let's give them free promotion through a insanely precious roster slot by allowing them to fill it with their Goku-level relevant character...dumb, so dumb.
I love the Shantae series, but this game looks a little meh to me. I don't like the art style as much, the animations don't look as fluid or quirky, and the gameplay/controls look slower and more clunky (ie the monkey). Not to mention they had to backtrack on initially white-washing Shantae (see the screenshot vs. the trailer title screen) which is a horrible place to start when making a sequel to one of the FEW games that features a female main character who isn't white (well, wasn't white).
Of course I'll have to wait and see, but this game doesn't feel right.
I love how creative and talented people are. These mods are boring as hell though. It's like asking "Do you love Splatoon, CoD Zombies, and Fallout? Great! Now how would you like them with terrible, blocky, unfitting graphics, horrifically bad controls, dumbed-down gameplay, none of the original atmorspehre, weapons that hardly represent their original counter-parts...." To which I always have to say, no thank you, I actually have the original (good) versions.
Haha, talk about bad timing. Servere Network issues during a limited-time global testfire. I've heard a lot of people wanting Nitendo to be more like Sony...well, you got your wish Though it may not have been in the way you expected!
I've never really been too much into sports or esports from a big-bucks perspective. I like playing, I like watching, I don't really like rich people getting involved...because then we get stuff like the 1921 World Series, Tom Brady and his balls, and Daigo the Beast. Money corrupts the basic fun of things and leaves people dead after a 49ers game. I'm more of a play competively, but have a day job kind of person. Games are for fun (sports and e-sports)...when games become work we expect top-dollar for...then you've totally lost me O_O
Nope, just nope. Love Nintendo, love Monolith, love legitimate DLC (like Mario Kart 8). But I REFUSE to support this day-1 DLC BS. TBH, the game is probably worth the extra price but I just can't bring myself to support these kind of sleezy DLC tactics.
"how do you feel about the return of Noriyuki Iwadare?"
The only answer anyone should ever give to this question is "great!". He's created some amazing soundtracks. Even though he's lesser known, I think he makes the best battle themes of any Japanese composer. I haven't played Grandia 2 or Lunar in like 10 years, but I STILL work out to those battle themes.
I agree with some people though, Skell sounds a lot cooler than Doll. They probably changed it because the English conotation for "Doll" wouldn't exactly make the cut for an American military machine...so it's actually a good localization choice because this is supposed to be Neo LA. If it were Neo Tokyo, then yeah, they should have kept it Doll to keep the reference Plywood Stick was talking about.
I know...FFXIII (and Tales of/Kid Icarus scores) make it hard for me to take Famitsu seriously. FFXIII in particular. I don't hate it as much as some people...but no, just no.
IMO Famitsu is the IGN of Japan. Tons of thoughtless masses will flock to them, to other people they're just a joke.
Yep. 100% agree on that. Smash Bros. DLC is WAY too reminiscent Ubisoft, EA, SE, Capcom etc. sleazy-style DLC tactics. It's overpriced, underwhelming, and doesn't add much (or anything) to gameplay. Even Skullgirls does characters better by making them free initially to reward people who already bought the game...instead of punishing us by making people purchase the 'meh' 3DS version (or pay $5). And it's just my opinion but Mewtwo and Lucas just feel so boring to me because they were already in previous games.
Mario Kart DLC is high quality, adds a ton to gameplay (new AND reworkd retro), and is VERY reasonably priced. TBH, not only should Nintendo stick to this DLC method, ALL gaming companies should aspire to it.
Yeah, and it's aged pretty well too. I actually bought a Dreamcast after its death (I was a Sony fanboy at the time) and every time I go back and play SoA I enjoy it immensely. I've actually sold 90% of the mediocre PS2 JRPGs I've owned, but I'll keep my copy of Skies of Arcadia until I die.
Sometimes I even jokingly tell my brother that if my house caught on fire one of things I'd go back in for would be SoA. LOL.
Go home and be a family man! Sorry, couldn't resist
Yeah, I'm not really digging Street Fighter characters. Even though I love Street Fighter, I can't support them over tons of other deserving characters.
You like it that much and you didn't even finish it O_O?
It is an amazing game though, IMO (I won't spoil the ending for you). People shouldn't let a handful of technical flaws deter them from playing such a horrifically underrated gem.
I think they should have at least allowed voice chat for friends: just for convenience sake. But, in part, I agree with you. If I REALLY want to chat with friends anyway, Skype does the job just fine. Especially since my computer and WiiU are right next to each other.
Aye, totally agree. Though not for everyone, Bayo 2 and W101 should have sold TONS more. Splatoon will be the same...but hopefully they sell more to the userbase at least.
On the amiibo question I wish there were an option like "The physical figures look awesome! But the unlockable content is 'meh'".
I'm totally with this review. I'm not quite as negative as the handful of people who hate this game, but CANNOT agree with the crazed fans who defend the repetition. Nostalgia or no, playing the same segment 5 times isn't meaningful content, it's annoying filler.
Banjo Kazooie and Mario 64 had it right. Do it right, do it once.
Quorthon is just a frustrated highschool/college student who has to be right about everything. TBH, I agree with you. Online with no voice chat is better than nothing, and sure, it'd be cool to have voice chat integrated in-game, but if I'm playing with friends it REALLY isn't difficult to use Skype. And sometimes even preferred.
I know, right? Xenoblade Chronicles can't merely be "skipped" like an iteration of Assasin's Creed, or Call of Duty. it's one of those timeless games you can always go back and play even if you missed it before.
That art looks amazing BTW. The mechs look like a perfect fusion of Xenosaga and Xenogears machines...which is awesome O_O.
Personally, I think I like the Galaxy games more...but that doesn't mean I don't think this game is amazing. The thing that surprises me the most is how well it has aged. Most must-be-3D games of the era have aged terribly in both gameplay and graphics.
I voted for Bayonetta given the limitations of the list. I wouldn't mind Inkling, Ice Climbers, Snake, Isaac, or Shantae though. I'm not completely on board with the King K Rool fanboys...but I wouldn't hate him either (as long as it was the pirate version).
And I think I'm the poster boy for the anti-shovel-knight movement. I just think he's so overrated and undeserving. To each their own. I'd probably just focus shovel knight players down like I do with scrubby Little Macs
@NintendoFan990
Impa would be amazing (in her Hyrule Warriors or Skyward Sword form). But that is probably impossible. Too few fans, too many competitors for the slots, and already a ton of Zelda reps.

I think they should have at least allowed voice chat for friends: just for convenience sake. But, in part, I agree with you. If I REALLY want to chat with friends anyway, Skype does the job just fine. Especially since my computer and WiiU are right next to each other.
Re: Poll: Is Splatoon a Blockbuster That'll Help Revive the Wii U?
@AyeHaley
Re: Review: Donkey Kong 64 (Wii U eShop / Nintendo 64)
I'm totally with this review. I'm not quite as negative as the handful of people who hate this game, but CANNOT agree with the crazed fans who defend the repetition. Nostalgia or no, playing the same segment 5 times isn't meaningful content, it's annoying filler.
Banjo Kazooie and Mario 64 had it right. Do it right, do it once.
Re: Feature: The Final Xenoblade Chronicles X Presentation - Dolls and Online Features
@Griffion
Re: Gallery: Fresh Xenoblade Chronicles X Footage, Screens and Concept Art Arrive
@Aneira
Re: Weirdness: Super Meat Boy Is Calling For Your Votes In The Smash Bros. Fighter Ballot
Devs: "We won't develop games for Wii U" (Meat isn't even on a Nintendo system)..."but vote for my character to be in Smash Bros!"
Me: No, just no. Even as a joke it's stupid. I won't accept Shovel Butt, and there's no way I'll accept Meat Sack.
Re: Review: Super Mario 64 (Wii U eShop / Nintendo 64)
Personally, I think I like the Galaxy games more...but that doesn't mean I don't think this game is amazing. The thing that surprises me the most is how well it has aged. Most must-be-3D games of the era have aged terribly in both gameplay and graphics.
Re: Poll: Which Characters Do You Want to Win the Smash Bros. Fighter Ballot?
@CaptMcCloudAran
Yeah! Too bad he's not on the list...
@NintendoFan990
Impa would be amazing (in her Hyrule Warriors or Skyward Sword form). But that is probably impossible. Too few fans, too many competitors for the slots, and already a ton of Zelda reps.
Re: Nintendo Download: 2nd April (North America)
Rottytops theme!!!? Ugh, right when I promised I'd never pay for a 3ds theme :3...
Re: Xenoblade Chronicles X's Soundtrack Is So Epic, It Needs 4 CDs To Contain It
Bah, this article made me want to replay Xenoblade and made me antsy for a release date for XBX...I hate you.
...But I guess that makes this a good article
