Meat Boy

There’s already been some encouragement to nominate the likes of Banjo-Kazooie and Shovel Knight in Nintendo’s Smash Bros. Fighter Ballot, and now in a growing trend, there is yet another iconic character calling for players’ precious votes.

Team Meat is asking fans of Super Smash Bros. for Wii U & 3DS to vote for its iconic indie character, Meat Boy.

While this one is most certainly a long shot for a number of reasons, it hasn’t stopped the creator of Super Meat Boy from tweeting its character in a screen alongside Mega Man and his spinning saw blade projectile. It all seems just a little too appropriate.

Despite never actually being released on a Nintendo platform, Super Meat Boy has quite a history with the Wii. The 2010 release was originally announced as a WiiWare title and was cancelled later in the development cycle due to the game’s file size expanding beyond the limits imposed by Nintendo. It was later considered for a retail release on the Wii, but third-party publishers knocked it back due to profitability concerns so late in the system’s lifecycle.

This is also the second time Super Meat Boy has been discussed as a potential candidate for Super Smash Bros. with Team Meat explaining in 2013 it would be prepared to work with Nintendo again if its character made it into Smash.

Let us know in the comments if you would consider voting for Meat Boy.
