Another week begins, and that means Nintendo Download Update news for European gamers. This week has plenty to offer, with Super Smash Bros. DLC arriving on 3DS and Wii U, a high profile indie effort on the home console, a SEGA 3D Classic, demos, another Wii title and much more besides. It's a packed line-up, so let's get to it.
Wii U eShop
Pandora's Tower (Nintendo, €14.99 / £13.49 until 23rd April, then €19.99 / £17.99) - One of the infamous 'Operation Rainfall' titles from late in the Wii's lifespan, this is a dark adventure in which you race against the clock to clear increasingly difficult tower labyrinths to save Elena from transforming into a monster. A grim tale with a moody aesthetic, despite some flaws we gave it a recommendation in our Pandora's Tower review.
Elliot Quest (PlayEveryWare, €12.99 / £9.49) - Nintendo has been keen to promote this retro-styled adventure, which features an open world, five dungeons, 16 'unique bosses' and multiple endings. With a core concept being a storyline that seems surprisingly dark, this one delivers a strong experience on the Wii U - check out our Elliot Quest review for the full lowdown.
Word Search by POWGI (Lightwood Games, €7.99 / £5.99) - Promising more than 300 puzzles and 27 categories, this word search game utilises the GamePad for touch controls, while another four players can join in using Wii Remotes. We'll see how this word game defines itself for our review.
TABLETOP GALLERY (RCMADIAX, €4.49 / £4.09) - This is a compilation of three RCMADIAX games previously released in North America, POKER DICE SOLITAIRE FUTURE, SHUT THE BOX and TOSS N GO.

Wii U and 3DS Super Smash Bros. DLC
The first batch of paid-DLC arrives for Super Smash Bros., with the following options all available on a single copy or across both versions. If you buy a pack for both versions, you receive a download code for the second copy - available from 15th April.
Mii Fighter Costume - Bundle #1 (Nintendo, €6.32 / £5.52 single platform or €9.52 / £8.72 for both)
Mii Fighter Costume - Cat Suit Set (Nintendo, €0.79 / £0.69 single platform or €1.19 / £1.09 for both)
Mii Fighter Costume - Dunban Set (Nintendo, €0.79 / £0.69 single platform or €1.19 / £1.09 for both)
Mii Fighter Costume - Link Set (Nintendo, €0.79 / £0.69 single platform or €1.19 / £1.09 for both)
Mii Fighter Costume - Majora's Mask (Nintendo, €0.79 / £0.69 single platform or €1.19 / £1.09 for both)
Mii Fighter Costume - Mega Man X Set (Nintendo, €0.79 / £0.69 single platform or €1.19 / £1.09 for both)
Mii Fighter Costume - Monkey Suit Set (Nintendo, €0.79 / £0.69 single platform or €1.19 / £1.09 for both)
Mii Fighter Costume - Proto Man Set (Nintendo, €0.79 / £0.69 single platform or €1.19 / £1.09 for both)
Mii Fighter Costume - SSB T-Shirt (Nintendo, €0.79 / £0.69 single platform or €1.19 / £1.09 for both)
3DS eShop
3D Fantasy Zone II (SEGA, €4.99 / £4.49) - This is a remaster (up to arcade standards) of the Master System title that followed the iconic arcade original. We're big fans of this one's predecessor and M2's work, and this'll have the usual stereoscopic 3D and extras, including an endless mode. We'll blast away some foes for a review.
A-Train: City Simulator (Natsume, €24.99 / £19.99) - If it's your dream to become CEO of a public transportation company, this may be the game for you. This one's all about resource and city management as you try to keep services running smoothly, while a map editor allows you to create your own challenges. We'll try to keep the trains running on time for our review.
Iron Combat: War in the Air (Teyon, €6.99 / £6.29) - Developed by Japanese studio Amzy, this brings to mind titles such as Liberation Maiden as you embark on high-action battles in the skies, using a mix of range and melee attacks. It fits this action shooter niche fairly well, and despite a few reservations we gave this a decent recommendation in our Iron Combat: War in the Air review.
Heart Beaten (Springloaded, €3.49 / £2.99) - This sounds like a peculiar action game in which you fend of romantic advances in ludicrous ways, which could be fun. We'll work on a review, but this official description says it all: "Crush their heart in a series of 15 epic challenges. Take to the skies in a spaceship, drive a car, or take on the role of a Shotokan Karate master! All in the name of crushing someone whose only desire is to make you feel loved." Erm...
Word Search by POWGI (Lightwood Games, €7.99 / £5.99) - The portable iteration of the same release, albeit with differences in categories and an absence of multiplayer. We'll bring you a review soon.
3DS DLC
We will produce an impressions feature on these new StreetPass DLC games following release.
StreetPass Mii Plaza – StreetPass Fishing (Nintendo, €4.99 / £4.49) - Each StreetPass hit earns you bait with which to fish, and you then set about catching more that 150 types of fish, buying new upgrades with money earned in the process.
StreetPass Mii Plaza – StreetPass Zombies (Nintendo, €4.99 / £4.49) - Fellow 3DS owners give you weapons with a StreetPass hit, and you then set off to kill hoards of zombies. Naturally they'll be relatively cute zombies, but they're undead nevertheless.
StreetPass Mii Plaza – Pack 2: StreetPass Fishing + StreetPass Zombies (Nintendo, €7.99 / £7.19)
StreetPass Mii Plaza – StreetPass Mii Plaza Premium (Nintendo, €4.99 / £4.49) - On the surface this seems like a rather superficial purchase, opening up options such as recording birthdays and a 'VIP' area for up to 100 Mii characters. Like with all the StreetPass extras we'll take a look.

Don't forget Mewtwo for Club Nintendo members!
I miss the option "All the StreetPass-Stuff"
That's some ridiculously expensive DLC for Smash. They're just freaking costumes (the very kind that was unlockable in Mario Kart 8 with amiibo figurines), and I hardly use the Mii fighters anyway, but being the completist that I am, I'll end up buying them.
To put matters into perspective, the (dual console) Smash costume bundle is only a few dollars short of the 2-pack DLC that we got for Mario Kart 8, and that gave us a hell of a lot more than a few bloody costumes.
Maybe Pandora's Tower, depending on the file size. And from the Smash costumes I just want Dunban!
I' ll pick up the Miiplaza games, nothing else this week though.
Elliot's Quest.
The Smash DLC for both platforms, Mewtwo via Club Nintendo and I guess I may as well try out the Puzzle & Dragons demo as it's free and not FTP.
@sillygostly Though on the other hand the Mario Kart 8 costumes are about 20 times more expensive as you have to buy the 10 corresponding amiibo including the super rare Captain Falcon. I prefer this method over the unlock via amiibo option.
@sillygostly i dont think anyone's planning to to buy the full pack for both systems.
Just the one or two costumes they actually want for their Mii Fighter e.g. my friend is picking up the protoman suit for his Mii on his 3DS whilst i'm planning on getting Major mask set for Wii U. And if my understanding of the patch is correct you'll be able to buy a costume for one version and then port that mii fighter to the other and since you cant mod copied characters it'll still wear the costume.
I agree it would be better if these was amiibo linked and this DLC is for those with out the related figures
Great week this. Going to be picking up Pandora's Tower solely in the fools hope Ninty will bring The Last Story to Wii vc too! It is an incredible jrpg by the father of Final Fantasy and its stupidly hard to find a copy nowadays. My pet peeve with this week is that Nintendoseems content with having several weeks of nothing then one week where a whole bunch of stuff is released. Why dont they spread it out?
Yay, Puzzle & Dragons demo! I'd also like to get Fairune for cheap, but seeing as how it was never even released here... T_T
As always, I'll get 3D Fantasy Zone II during a sale. Also, I'm curious as to what Heart Beaten actually is...? Sounds crazy, will wait for review (but not expect too much).
I'll be getting Pandora's tower since I've always thought it sounded interesting, plus the streetpass games. I won''t bother with premium till there's more details. It seems expensive for what we know s far. I'll also get the Puzzle and Dungeons demo since it's free and it's something that looks pretty good.
In terms of the smash stuff Link, Protoman and dunban I'll likely getat somepoint. majora's mask is cool but it's the same price as a full costume which seems odd.
Don't like the Bundle costume price, I calculated it and (Whether you get one version or both the Wii U and 3ds Versions combined) there is no difference in price for buying them in the bundle(s) compared to buying them separately. I was really hoping Smash would do some kind of season pass which works out cheaper in the long run and gives you a small bonus and a discount like Mario Kart and Hyrule Warriors had.
I voted smash dlc but what I really mean is I'll be downloading Mewtwo.
I'm not really sold on the Mii costumes. I might get the Dunban outfit and leave it at that.
Well, I'd love to get the Puzzle & Dragon Z Demo, but keeping my 3DS region-free takes priority. I'll see if I can get the new Plaza games without an update...
Dang it.. I was hoping for some discounts before the 20th... Does anyone know how many stars we get in Europe for registering Azure Striker Gunvolt? I need an extra 250 stars...
@Atlantidas 50 for Gunvolt as it's a download title. Only Wii and Wii U retail downloads give 250 stars.
@Atlantidas i thought the dead line for earn stars had passed, i could be wrong but sure i saw an PSA on it
Mii fighter costumes and Mewtwo for me this week, can't wait! only 2 days for the promotional offer, so hype!
@abe_hikura Only for boxed games that have a code expiry date of before 1st April 2015 and no future physical releases will have CN codes. Digital deadline is 20th April and physical Wii Nintendo Selects/3DS/Wii U games released before October 2014 have a deadline of September 2015.
"Elliot's Quest" for me! Wow, such a low percentage of people wanting to buy it, that made me sad.
Considering the Sega 3d classics are skipping Australia, nothing for me this week.
sigh No Virtual Console games this week either. Well, I guess you could count both Pandora's Tower and Fantasy Zone II 3D, I am probably going to get both of them.
How is Pandora's Tower ? I see so many mixed reviews..
MEWTWO!!!
I'd be all over Pandora's Tower if I didn't already have the Limited Edition, £13.49 is a great price (obviously not £8.99 great, but still).
I'll be getting the Street Pass games bundle (not the pointless premium plaza), the Puzzle & Dragons demo, Fairune (missed this on release, I like short games that I can finish within a couple of bus rides).
I'm interested in Heart Beaten and A Train: City Simulator so will be waiting on a review or two before I take the plunge.
Amazing week, my poor wallet...
No Wii U discounts for 2 weeks???
Hangin for Paper Mario 64
@Achoo I disagree, if you divide each of the bundle prices by 8 (number of costumes) you get the exact price of a single costume.
Still no 3D classics coming this week to Australia even though they have been classified now. We get a 3D train simulator wippy (I'm being sarcastic)
Nothing for me there =(
!!! P A N D O R A S !!!
!!! T O W E R !!!
Haaaaaaaaaaa!!!
Amazing game in many ways and the best 3D Castlevania ever made.
It will be mine! I borrowed it for awhile, but had to return it before finnishing it, and finally I can put it to an end.
Stop buying DLC or it will become common practice.
I'm excited for Mewtwo and all of the Mii custom outfits.
Oh, in this Pandora heat I forgot Elliot Quest, which I will also surely buy.
@Varoennauraa
You like it that much and you didn't even finish it O_O?
It is an amazing game though, IMO (I won't spoil the ending for you). People shouldn't let a handful of technical flaws deter them from playing such a horrifically underrated gem.
I didn't realize the Smash DLC and Mewtwo were so close. Unless NA wants to take another month or something.
Pandora's Tower Wii remote and nunchuck only?
Mewtwo is mine. The Smash DLC is awesome though. Imma buy it soon as I can.
@abe_hikura the deadline passed for retail copies, but but for digital copies the deadline in Europe is for the 20th!
Anyone got a got another suggestion?
Stop buying DLC or it will become common practice.
DLC already is common practice.
@DM666
I think you can use the gamepad since it supported (not 100% sure) the CCPro controller according to comments I've read before. Maybe it supports the Wii U Pro controller too.
@Bass_X0
Ha! I was going to post something like that but then I saw your post.
If you want to see expensive costumes play DOA.
Kinda of related to this topic. Does Smash give you a notice when you unlock all the original mii costume parts?
That price for StreetPass Mii Plaza Premium... That's so expensive for something that seems like just an update... Even the smash DLC is rather expensive for just a few costumes. Well, Nintendo got a taste of DLC, people praised them for doing it "right" (Somehow) and well... here we are, high costs for updates and DLC over and over and over and over and over and over and over... (you get the idea) for a pretty high price.
3D Fantasy Zone II for me I reckon. Will try both free demos as well 🐶
@DM666
Nope, supports also Wii's classic controller (or that's what my cover said).
I try not to spoil too much - I really liked the game, it's bit different and in a way, horrorish - and, one thing that may annoy is that dungeons are kinda time limited. But with that price - you cannot go wrong.
And Torrent Peak boss... 'nuff said :/
None of the new games look that appealing to me this week. Also, the smash bros DLC seems too expensive for a few mii fighter costumes (who I never seem to use). However, I'll get the Puzzle and Dragons demo and see what that's about.
Puzzle and Dragons demo for me. A Train Simulator has got me interested also as I like Sim games.
My eyes are more on the MK8 DLC next week though, details have been lacking there unless I haven't noticed anything revealed other than the Animal Crossing track.
@Grumblevolcano I downloaded Luxor when it was on sale last month and Club Nintendo gave me 200 stars for that, not all 3rd party download titles give 50 stars it seems.
I JUST realized that the people in Scandinavia won't be getting Mewtwo for free, even if they bought both of the games. And I who thought this day couldn't get any worse. Took me long enough to realize.
Wait, Mewtwo comes out today for people that registered on Club Nintendo? I thought it came out Friday?
@NinjaWaddleDee I thought it was Wednesday?
It's been slim pickings for Wii U this year so far. Never known a console to have so many droughts!
A-Train seems like the real deal: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6u7kmLZFocc
Got 9/8/8/8 in Famitsu and is a full price retail in Japan.
@datamonkey It's because there hasn't really been one aside from cheap knock offs. Not even the Dreamcast had them this bad... I just realized... even the Dreamcast sold better than the Wii U. ha ha.
Wat? Those prices for Mii costumes are ridiculous.
Nothing for me this week, I was really waiting for either Mighty No.9 or AVGN Adventures.
@TantXL
Reallly? I read posts from finnish Nintendo forums that people talked that they could get the code.
Apologies for being that guy early on a Monday, but it's "hordes" of zombies, not "hoards".
As for me, I'm interested to see samples of the SSB DLC before buying.
I guess I'm getting the costumes just because it's Smash Bros.
Can't wait for the streetpass games.
Pandoras tower is a good price considering the hard copy is about £20 but when it comes to sin pun2 it is cheaper to buy a hard copy.
Won't Pandora's tower be the first Wii game to support the Gamepad as a controller?
@Grumblevolcano Okay, I looked it up. They said they were sending codes Wednesday. Which sucks, because I have to work
I already own Pandora's Tower, as I got the Special Edition for Christmas, but I'll get the download version too.
@Crafton I think Metroid Prime Trilogy and Donkey Kong Country Returns support the GamePad.
@twadezelda3dsxl Neither of them do I'm afraid, the only way to play the Wii version of Donkey Kong without waggle controllers is to soft mod the Wii.
I'm definitely getting the Smash Bros DLC, but not yet. I think it's pretty stupid that if you buy the whole package, you don't get a little bit of a discount, but that's probably just me. I'm just going to hold off on buying those costumes for now, at least until Bundle #2 comes, and see if they throw in a discount offer that way. I don't really like the Mii Fighters anyway, so I'm not missing much in that regard.
Also may get Elliot Quest down the line, but I'm not quite sure on that one just yet. I already have a whole bunch of other platforming games I still need to finish as well.
I'll probably just buy the Smash DLC 1 by 1 since there's zero saving for buying the bundle, which there should be. Alternatively, Nintendo DLC has been discounted in the past before for a weekly sale, so you could just wait till then maybe.
Streetpass will have to wait till next week. Going to the London Zelda concert this Friday...
Hey!! We also want Virtual Console games!!
I'm going to guess next week is Super Circuit because of the MK8 DLC.
I wish Nintendo would convince the company who made words with friends to make that game for the Eshop. Yahtzee with Friends would be cool too.
Probably Pandora's Tower since it's the first game that can be played with the Gamepad/Pro Controller and of course the Mewtwo DLC/Smash update.
Pity the two people who bought a 'best of' game for full price a few weeks back...
I want both the SSB DLC and Streetpass games. Silly poll wouldn't let me vote for both though.
Mewtwo and the Mega Man X Mii costume, maybe. Might give Puzzles & Dragons a try but I'm not expecting much.
I recommend Pandora's Tower to all who haven't had the pleasure. Its less of a JRPG and more like a twisted take on the 3d Zelda model
I updated street pass mii plaza and the space or the ability to buy the new games did not show up is there something wrong also I hope we ge5 the puzzle and. Dragons game special demo in the US too.
How come Europe's getting so many Wii titles when we in NA aren't? Now I know how you feel about something like SMTIV
@Grumblevolcano Thats the exact math I did to come to my conclusion about the costume prices.
I'm probably just gonna get Dunban and leave it at that.
@Marshi I've been wondering the same thing since last year when they had a release drought and then put out Kirby Triple Deluxe and Mario Golf 3ds on the same day. Did it never occur to them that some people might want both and not be able to afford them both same day?
Elliot Quest! Really hope lots of people will support that cute looking game!
Elliot Quest is an excellent game, i hope you're listening Europe...
Another week where "Nothing for me this week" gets more votes than the Sega 3D Classic? ugh...
Pass. Smash dlc costs too much. And Dunban should have his sword in the other hand. I could never buy wrong-handed Dunban!
6 Euro for 8 costumes? Nintendo, seriously?
23% People wanna buy them?? People, seriously??
I love Smash but this goes too far! A smash in the face.
On the upside we also get Elliot Quest this week!
And Pandora's Tower (for those who don't have it already.)
@SKTTR When you think about it, it's really 14, the T shirts can be used on all three classes and look different for the other gender, the monkey and cat suits look different on the other gender, but the rest look the same to the other gender.
I WANT 3D OUTRUN NOW
@TheHumbleFellow I believe we have another week or so to wait for him.
@sillygostly
sometimes it feels like the fans are being asked to make an offering to keep the church of nintendo afloat.
i'm a sucker for the monkey suit and megaman suit though.
pardon the late reply
Anybody in the UK trying to find the new Streetpass games should first update the Streetpass software by clicking the icon on the far left. You will then get a new shopping option.
Will be getting Pandoras tower as it is about $100 cheaper than the retail copy in NZ. If they ever have a raccoon costume I will be all over it, otherwise not really worth the money for something so superficial. i am happy with my free Mewtwo, now bring on roy (fire emblem/ melee)
I noticed that the WiiU version of Pandora's Tower allows you to play the game with the GamePad. But I still can't play my disc version of Last Story and XenoBlade with the GamePad yet. When will Nintendo update this?
