I prefer backwards compatibility over remasters/ports. Sure, remasters look better, but they're only based on what's popular/bloated so the selection of PS3 games you can play on PS4 is REALLY limited.
I couldn't imagine not being able to play niche games like Xenoblade, Pandora's Tower, or Sin and Punishment on my Wii U...which would NEVER get ported/remastered.
Oh gawd, 001-C. My brother wouldn't touch the Wonderful 101 because he doesn't like the anime motif or beat-em-up gameplay, but he watched me play that boss fight and was like O_O. I understand certain games aren't for everybody, but I agree it's a shame certain ones are neglected or bashed because they decide to do something different without worrying about bloated budgets or review scores.
LOL, I wouldn't be THAT mean about it, but I've been frustrated with everyone being content with only the 3DS getting any love for a long time and as soon as Wii U starts to get AMAZING games they complain because they don't own one (what is this? Neogaf?)...start collecting those cans because Bayo 2, Xenoblade Chronicles X, and Splatoon (along with others) are Wii U exclusive
I never thought about it that way...non-commentary segments of around 30 does sound pretty boring...even if I'm at home watching a friend play we're talking the entire time, which is what makes it so fun (otherwise I'd just be playing the game myself ).
Welllllll, their sales and DLC sales are great, so it seems their fans are getting what they want (even if it is a scam). That said, I'll never go back to EA, Activision, etc. while they wholeheartedly support these models.
Some DLC is one thing, but when I walked away with dropping $70 for Mass Effect 3 (because of tax and "amazing" day-1 DLC) I was really upset. Imagine how upset I was after see the atrocious ending...thank you Kamiya for giving me the game right away, not holding the Prothean hostage...FREE the Prothean, FREE Bioware! LOL.
I totally agree. The Treehouse follow-up was a great idea to the amusing and polished, yet limited, digital event. Games like Xenoblade Chronicles X only had a mediocre trailer, but the the Treehouse segment on the game was amazing! And I wouldn't be surprised to see Sony and Microsoft follow suit in the coming E3. Let's just hope it isn't as poor a copy as PS Move
I'm kinda old-fashion in that I won't use in unintended trick especially if other people don't know about it. I didn't wave dash in melee (even though that at least took more skill than this). Heck, I won't even use intended tricks like Marth's over-prioritized, over-spammed N-air in Brawl. Honestly, I even make things hard for myself so I actually feel accomplished (I'm usually the ONLY one in MK8 lobbies using the Wii Wheel).
That said, I understand not everyone is the same, but to those people who want to keep it: Why? If it's gone, then things will just be more even again. Are people just mad that if it gets patched out all of a sudden people won't have a secret "pro" advantage of hophophop anymore? I won't die if they doesn't take it out...but they should IMO in order to keep a better balance. I swear sometimes it feels like people demand balance, but then abuse every possible exploit in attempt to destroy that balance then cry when people want to take the imbalance out.
Not usual like Colbert and Stewart in that it's not funny, not interesting, and over 90% fabricated ("people say") BS...every news show has an agenda and makes exaggerations/mistakes; Fox News has a vendetta against intelligence. This Luigi story is the best thing I've seen out of them since their inception.
Ouch...harsh, lol. I can't say I'm a huge Crash fan, but I don't hate him that much. Jet Moto rocked though. The grapple beam was just too cool! Forget people who tried to copy Mario Kart, let's celebrate those who did something original like Jet Moto.
In terms of Mario Kart look alikes, I find that it just can't be beat on a base level. Sure games like Diddy Kong Racing have a better campaign. Or games like Wipeout might have better physics, but you just can't beat the pure multiplayer fun provided by the Mario Kart series IMO.
That makes sense. One of the main complaints about Playstation All Stars was it was "guys with swords". I would love to see Chrom in as well (though I'll admit I was WAY more excited for Ike), but I think an alternate skin would be fine for Chrom and a magic user, archer, etc. would be better new rep.
I'm the same way. I had little or no interest in this game besides the Zelda motif (which I figured was an obvious ploy) but the more I see of it the more interested I become.
Impa looks amazing, and I'm surprised how excited I am to finally have her as a playable character.
I have to admit that does sound pretty cool. I loved the psychological aspects of ZombiU, but they did rely violence/jump scares quite a bit. I would love to see something master the creepy atmosphere without jump scares and guns.
Technology patents are so strange. It seems like if something is even similar they're going to try and fool some 75 year old judge who owned a black and white TV as a kid to get some company to fork over millions. Phillips isn't even using the tech for the same purpose so even if Nintendo "stole" it they obviously extensively contributed their own manpower and tech to it. The step from medical equipment to game controller is bigger than you might think.
Sony didn't get sued for PS Move, VHS, or Blu-Ray which were ALL ripped directly from similar tech. (Well someone tried to sue them for Blu-Ray).
Haha, good point! I always wondered how people would feel if they back a project that didn't get enough money to make it to a system they owned. This game looks pretty cool though. I'd probably back it if I weren't poor as dirt....T_T
Awesome This just made my day. And holy crap at PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, Xbox One! Everyone is saying "Wii U has lower processing so lower power usage hurr, hurr." But the processing power isn't THAT different to be using more than double the energry. Heck, even 360 and PS3 used more than Wii U!
I don't think there is anything wrong with this review. If Battle Mode and Game Pad usage are poor, then 9/10 seems legit. My only qualm is a good (not great IMO) game like Rayman Legends gets the same score. To each their own though, and Battle Mode has never really been my favorite anyway so a personal 10/10 is a possibility with that tasty-looking tournament mode.
I'm with you . I understand this may not be the best game out there: maybe the reviewer has a lot of good points. But I'm still interested enough to decide for myself. If I didn't play every game under an 8/10 score then half of my favorite-games-ever list wouldn't exist!
@Lobster Same, I'm even somewhat of a classic game collector but this has no real value: you can't authenticate it with a serial number, it's effects could EASILY be duplicated by a hacker, and there is zero aesthetic quality to it (no gold case, no stupid see-through cartridge, not even stick art). And all this for 100 g's? You'd be stupid to buy it IMO.
"Free on PS+" yes...."Free". I just need to buy a PS4 and a PS+ subscription and continue renewing the subscription for the rest of my life in order to keep this game. So about $1000+ to play Stick it to the Man ten years from now? A steal...lol.
@outburst I almost want to to rock Pink Gold Peach online to troll :3. I'll admit I miss Diddy and King Boo, but with a roster so robust there's still tons to choose from.
Wow, and I thought I was excited for this game before! The tournaments, level variety, and music all seem phenomenal. And am I the only one who likes Pink Gold Peach? I think she looks awesome...not awesome enough to replace Boo, Funky, Diddy, etc. but that's not stopping me from loving her now that she's in
Oh, and the "Year of Luigi is definitely over!" LOL
Third parties are the indies that survived the "fad" phase. Yorumi is right, the slosh of Indie games we're currently seeing will curb when the demand drops too low to support them all (we're already seeing some of the that with companies demanding porting costs and whining when a game doesn't sell well...like that never happens). There will always be an Indie scene, but it won't always be this large and entitled.
I was wonder when someone was going to bring this up. PS+ "free" games annoy me to no end. It's great for people who buy a game, then never play it again, sure. But personally, I hate continuous pay-to-play models. If I want to take a 10-year break from a game I don't want some subscription looming over my head.
I totally agree with you. Miiverse is a low-key environment that is great to use when you don't want to get trolled/flamed (except on the Smash Bros. board) so I don't know why people get so upset about it being heavily moderated when there are plenty of whiny environments people can lurk, troll, and post spoilers in for eternity (i.g. Gamefaqs, Neogaf, etc.).
I always see people complain about being warned and banned for "little" things, but it's more than likely they didn't read the rules and then just immediately complained without understanding. I've shown love for non-nintendo games/system, disagreed with users (respectfully, which is IMPORTANT), shared jokes, and lots of other things...and have yet to receive even ONE warning.
I wasn't going to put it so bluntly, but yeah, I think you're on the right track there. Not to say it isn't impressive programming, but I considered Brawl to be its own game that doesn't need to be fixed, just accept for what it is (whether you like it or not).
Project M is like Harry Potter fans re-writing the last book so Harry gets married to Hermione.
I always thought Melee was overrated. Sure, the crisp controls and lack of tripping make it a better competitive title, but the obsessive use of wave dashing, particular characters (Fox), and FD had me going for Brawl every time just because it was more fun/non-restrictive. These new For Fun/For Glory options seem like the best idea yet because it potentially provides both worlds in one package.
I like that there are variants of Final Destination. One of my biggest problems with the "FD, No items, Marth/Snake/MK" fetishists was the fact I had to stare at that same background and listen to the same five songs over and over and over! Up until they mentioned the FD variants I was almost ready to stick to For Fun mode entirely.
You're too slooooow...lol, sorry. I used to do the same thing with Pikachu and Marth, but I'll make the sacrifice if I have to in order to better online play.
TBH I used to do the constant self destruct thing all the time...but ONLY as a response to someone doing one of the other things in this list. So if I can just report them, then I won't have to suicide and hopefully everyone will be happy, except the person getting reported: they'll just whine on Miiverse how they were banned unjustly even though they obviously didn't read the rules.
I'm definitely pleased. I didn't buy it when it was first released because I've already beaten it a million times and I'm poor (so poor T_T), but you can't beat free so it's a 100% grab for me just to have it on my Wii U.
I'm also thinking about Art Academy because I love the Wii U version.
Some great choices for retro tracks so far, and I'm loving how they make changes to appeal to new game mechanics (like the second bridge being out in Donut Plains 3, and the gliding section in Royal Raceway). Haha, and Moo Moo meadows was my sister's online troll track. She's going to be ecstatic to hear it's back.
"The game is over priced and is on the wrong console, it should have been released on a portable machine. And the score should have reflected this."
Sooooo....the score should be amended to reflect your opinion? You remind me of the Bayonetta 2 fans who're mad (REAL MAD) because it's not on "their" system. No matter what system it's on I hope the reviewer would score it based on merits not on that certain fans are mad that it's not on "their" system.
I like his mentality. Oh course, it may not last if the game tanks on Wii U, but I'm glad he's taking a chance to give us this great looking game. Heck, you never know. It might turn out it sells decent, just because something has a larger install base doesn't mean instant riches and plenty of indies on Wii U have been successful.
Eh, I'd only like Pac Man if it were classic Pac Man, which I think would be hard to pull off. And Lloyd Irving is as overrated as Kingdom Hearts. Plus, you're probably not going to see a Tales game on a Nintendo system ever again so, like Snake, Tales characters are probably out of the question. Characters like Lloyd, Sora, and Geno can go make sweet fanfiction love in Smash Bros. limbo (Deviant Art).
I had the exact same response. I was interested in the game, but when even the developer seems to be squeezing it out I feel a red flag go up, especially with tons of other great games to choose from in the same or lower price range. It's always a shame to see a studio close down/downsize, but I feel we're going to be seeing it more and more often this gen.
GAWD, finally someone says it. Even things like Justin Bieber, Twilight, and Fabio on all those romance novels are also objectification of men, but no one ever seems to touch that. I understand women have gotten the short end of the stick for a long time, but because of that people think it's entirely one-sided and never talk about it.
I think the only solution is constantly ask yourself if you're treating people like people because otherwise you're just a big fat hypocrite. How many of you have school girls, nurses, etc in your internet bookmarks? Probably 95% of you. Is that objectification? You betcha, but as long question your mentality towards women (or men) and try to improve upon it, you can do whatever the heck you want. I got preached at enough in church and towns full of hipsters to know most people are just BS'ing hypocrites about this kind of stuff. Like what you like, just don't be drone.
Sakurai won't die from old age, some sort of freak accident, or even drug abuse related to his chronic arm pains. Melee fanboys will be the end of him, and they'll dance on his grave in a way that looks like wave dashing...and then one of them will trip...and at that moment they'll realize the irony and childishness of their years of incessant whining. Then they'll just make a project M2.
I totally agree, on both accounts. I want it sooner than later, but if they're anything like Nintendo in terms of delays improving quality I know I won't be disappointed.
-Fightsticks: Expensive and usually only good for one thing (I'll let you guess) -Neo Geo Controllers: LOL, you're grasping at straws (horrible design) -Playstation Move: LOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOL...OK, I'm done...LOLOL -Madcatz fightpads: It's like Neogeo and a fightstick had a kid...an ugly one. -Saturn Controller: "Costs a fortune" Yep, that's viable...and available...no. -Steering Wheels and Pedals: Roommate had one--expensive, bulky, lame. -Normal PS3 pad: THERE we go! Finally one that's actually viable/good. -Dancemats: You were REALLY grasping at straws at this point.
So, I think I'll just change my statement to Wii U has the best choice of supported/universal controllers. Because if we're counting crap/obscure/not very supported controllers PS3 will always win.
"No on uses?" Ahhhh, I use it...well, I guess I'm just one fan, but I love the thing. Off-screen play, clean HUDs, drawing on Miiverse or with Art Academy, Nintendo Land (LOL, there needs to be more games that use it like that).
I do agree with some comments here though...it's not like HAVE to use off-screen/big controller. Wii U has by far the most (and IMO the best) options for controllers. "PS4life?" Wii Classic controller is just like a PS controller! "XboxOne while the Sony fanboys aren't looking...they bully meT_T!" Wii U Pro is a lot like an Xbox controller. You really can't lose.
Haha, I think that's fair. Most old game's difficulty comes from little or NO checkpoints, lack of lives, and tons of memorization. You die? Go ALLLLL the way back to the beginning (but don't forget that disappearing block right near the end, and the special weapon you need to beat the boss, oh, and the fifty insta-kill spike pits). I don't mind it too much, but I agree SNES and beyond is much more accessible.
Not a surprise fans decided to make their own Megaman though. Most ignored series get this kind of treatment. SE's Chrono series got a fan spinoff, but SE caught wind of it and shut it down (granted, it wasn't very good IMO).
I know, right? While I was bored today I decided to mosey around the Wii U eShop and I hit the "upcoming games" button and watched a few videos. And I found I wanted like 5-6 of them...and that's just of the ones they have videos of...lol.
Shame their isn't a release window for this game. TBH that's my entire problem with Wii U. So many amazing games...so few release dates...T_T. I'll definitely be keeping an eye on this one though.
Yeah, I think it's more boasting than actual fact at this point. Sure, they may have an un-blockable hack, but more likely they just want people to be like "Wow, Mr. Overweight Hacker/Pirate, you're amazing!" instead of "it could brick my system just so I can be a fat wuss like you and cheat online in Mario Kart and steal games like some PC elitists who think stealing somehow supports devs? Screw that!" LOL, maybe I'm a little too hateful against hackers.
The touch levels are just OK, IMO, when you're playing Solo. But when playing Multiplayer they become a LOT more fun (and would be the reason I'd agree the Wii U version is definitive)...even if you're just moving platforms right before your buddy jumps on them, mwahaha.

So if I can just report them, then I won't have to suicide and hopefully everyone will be happy, except the person getting reported: they'll just whine on Miiverse how they were banned unjustly even though they obviously didn't read the rules.
Re: The Club Nintendo Rewards Are Confirmed for April
@JaxonH
Re: Video: Check Out The Mario Kart 8 Visual Upgrade in This Retro Track Comparison
Re: Nintendo Download: 3rd April (North America)
@WiiULoveGBA
LOL, I had a similar reaction. SOOOO many times I was like, "Tennis?! TENNIS!?11" It almost feels strange to have so many good games released at once.
Re: Review: Advance Wars (Wii U eShop)
@zool
Re: Oddworld's Lorne Lanning Isn't Worried About Wii U's Low Install Base Impacting New ‘n’ Tasty Sales
Re: Feature: Bandai Namco Characters We'd Love to See in Super Smash Bros. on Wii U and 3DS
Re: Two Tribes Shoots Down the Possibility of Toki Tori 3
@TruenoGT
Re: Weirdness: The Legend of Zelda's Master Sword Appears to be in PS4-Exclusive inFAMOUS: Second Son
@CaptainSquid
Kind of thought the same thing. And now I think I just fell for a click-bait trap...and I'm a little angry.
Re: Mario Kart 8 Pre-Orders from Amazon Japan Get Sweet Mario or Rosalina Playing Cards
@Player4
Daisy: "Hi, I'm Daisy. Hi, I'm Daisy. Hi, I'm Daisy! HI, I'M DAISY!!!!1"
Nintendo: "Who are you?"
Rosalina: .../////
Nintendo: You want to be playable in EVERY Mario game this year and even get your own playing cards?!!!1
LOL
Re: Soapbox: Ignoring The Objectification Of Women In Games Won't Make the Problem Go Away
@Jayvir
Re: Super Smash Bros. Melee Confirmed for Evo 2014
Re: Shovel Knight Release Pushed Back "A Few Weeks"
@evildevil97
I totally agree, on both accounts. I want it sooner than later, but if they're anything like Nintendo in terms of delays improving quality I know I won't be disappointed.
Re: Nicalis Boss Tyrone Rodriguez Thinks The Wii U GamePad Is "A Waste Of Time And Resources"
@unrandomsam
-Fightsticks: Expensive and usually only good for one thing (I'll let you guess)
-Neo Geo Controllers: LOL, you're grasping at straws (horrible design)
-Playstation Move: LOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOL...OK, I'm done...LOLOL
-Madcatz fightpads: It's like Neogeo and a fightstick had a kid...an ugly one.
Re: Nicalis Boss Tyrone Rodriguez Thinks The Wii U GamePad Is "A Waste Of Time And Resources"
Re: Latest Mega Man 2.5D Beta Adds New Single Player and Co-Op Stages
@PvtOttobot
Re: Interview: HullBreach Studios Outlines Its Ambitions for a Wii U Space Epic
@midnafanboy
Re: Hacking Group Claims To Have Discovered Wii U Homebrew Exploit
@SanderEvers
Re: Rayman Legends On Wii U Is Still The ''Definitive Version'' According to Digital Foundry
The touch levels are just OK, IMO, when you're playing Solo. But when playing Multiplayer they become a LOT more fun (and would be the reason I'd agree the Wii U version is definitive)...even if you're just moving platforms right before your buddy jumps on them, mwahaha.
