Haha! That's a good point. I've worked EVERY birthday since I've had a job. Not to say Sakurai doesn't work hard. But it seems like because he's a good game dev then people seem to elevate every normal thing he does to godhood.
Sakurai passed that kidney stone for you...his favorite fan...
Just bought this game...and it's awesome . I hope it gets the sales/attention it deserves. Good solo puzzle game, great party game...for $9? I wish more devs were as competent as Shin'en.
Well people question it ALL the time...and then games like Destiny, Ryse, Watchdogs, and Shadowfall all get punished by Metacritic...then they people don't question Nintendo's quality for a while
This game looks great though. I love that Nintendo is FINALLY showing more love by making fan-favorite characters playable. I've loved Toadette since Paper Mario TTYD and I think she's a great inclusion in this game.
Now if we could only get Daisy in a non-sports type of game...
Cool, though I'll probably wait for the Wii U version. $20 does seem a little steep though...hopefully that at least means more content...otherwise WayForward is getting a little pretentious (who do you think you are, EA?!). I got 20+ hours out of Mighty Switch Force HD--and it looked gorgeous--and it only cost $10...
Good. As much as this game looks pretty fun, I'd have a hard time dropping $60 on it unless there was a ton of content not revealed...playable Toadette!!!!? What? Her role in Paper Mario should make her more loved than Waluigi or Bowser Jr...
This series deserves so much more love IMO. The First Sin and Punishment is great and Star Successor totally blows KI:U out of the water in terms of gameplay...well, in actual story too! Dialogue?....ehhhhh, Let's just say KI:U has to win somewhere
OMG, you're my hero. Someone needs to call out this guy more often. He's so full of BS he should call himself Liquid BS Snake...LOL, OK, maybe that's a little over the top.
On topic: We all know it's $$$. Why even bother lying anymore Ubisoft? To be honest, that's the main reason I don't like you. Not because you won't put games on Wii U, but because you keep lying about the reasons...well and compromising most of your creativity for profit...that too
Wait, people are complaining about this lineup? I think it's pretty good:D
-Far superior version of Smash: Absolutely! -Bayonetta 2, probably the best 3D Beat-em-up this gen: why wouldn't you? -Captain Toad, a fun expansion on a great piece of M3DW: if the price is right! -Trine re-release on Wii U: After Trine 2, this is a day-one...probably -Stealth Inc 2: Looks good to me! -Art Academy: I'm not a great artist, but I LOVE this program.
Maybe I need a lot more free time and to be in a bad relationship I need to escape from with gritty shooters to be dissatisfied with this list
Yeah, I'm doing the same...except I don't have three systems in one house...I'm just too poor Well, and even if I were rich I might pass on the 3DS version just because I know I'd never touch it again once the Wii U version launches.
What, really? Japan has terrible taste then. Dark Pit IS a palate swap of Pit...even in the PLOT of his ACTUAL game...making him a separate character was a huge waste of roster space. It's like saying: clone characters in my mediocre game (KI:U) are more deserving than awesome original characters from other devs games!!!1
It makes me sick to say this, but I might actually take Waluigi or Geno over Dark Pit...and I hate both those characters. Heck, I'd even take Goku post his defeat by Superman (the shoe) over Dark Pit.
Not a surprise, sadly. And it won't be a surprise when Capcom never sees another penny from my wallet either...I'm tired of companies/internet trolls demanding I buy inferior games just because they are on popular consoles/handhelds.
Just release the Wii U version already...physically modding a game to get it to play right...that's just wrong.
...and RIP Ice Climbers...I will exact your cold vengeance on all those 3DS-friendly clones until I'm banned for attacking the same character too many times in a row!
"[...]this isn't a quick release intended to tide over players until the Wii U version comes along"
BS: Shoddy online (again), horrible controls, lack of customizations (in a Smash game? Ridiculous) and clones to make up for a lack of cut original characters because of lacking 3DS hardware...well then, maybe you're right. This won't tide me over until Smash Wii U...because I won't be getting it at all
I understand people have different tastes than me (and will take a lot more abuse because they cave under 3DS popular opinion), but the 3DS controls just aren't for a fighting game of any kind. A fighting game with bad controls? You'd have to at least give that an 8/10 at most.
Considering the past few years have been:
3DS,3DS,3DS,3DS,3DS,3DS,3DS,3DS,3DS,3DS,3DS,3DS,3DS,3DS,3DS,3DS,3DS,3DS,3DS,3DS,3DS,3DS,3DS,3DS,3DS,3DS,3DS,3DS,3DS,3DS,3DS,3DS,3DS,3DS,3DS,3DS,3DS,3DS,3DS,3DS,3DS,coughWiiUcough,3DS,3DS,3DS,3DS,3DS,3DS,3DS,3DS,3DS,3DS,3DS,3DS,3DS,3DS,3DS,3DS,3DS,3DS,3DS,3DS,3DS,3DS,3DS,3DS,3DS,3DS...3DS...I think it's plenty legit, especially considering all the Wii U counterparts of 3DS games are all immensely better.
Well, I was never a huge Ice Climbers fan, but I'm mad for two reasons:
-Original characters should ALWAYS take priority over clones and we have, what? 6+ clones already? That's just silly.
-They were cut because of the 3DS version. An amazing series has be cut back because of an attempt to simply milk a fanbase. Understandable, but sad, really sad T_T Now I'm MAD!!!!1 Lol.
Yeah, I agree with that. Just say something like: "a spiritual successor/homage to the Mother series!" That's actually an admirable and more meaningful approach. Saying it's THE Mother 4 is a somewhat pretentious way of saying they know better than the creators. And also a way to bait a C&D order from the original dev. Anyone remember Chrono Trigger Crimson Tides? SE does. It also remembers the C&D it sent...
Yeah, was thinking the same thing. He's a great developer, but very human. Just look at Kid Icarus: Uprising and Kirby. Both are just OK IMO. Smash Bros. is his one major achievement and everything else just seems to fly along on its coat tails or on the wings of rabid fans. Again, a great developer though it's just I can't agree he's a "God" when the Smash Bros 3DS demo was sooooo awful. Just awful.
Makes me wonder why big studios in the west never have a single name attached to them. I'd love to know who to thank for Baldur's Gate 2, Knights of the Old Republic, and the first two Mass Effects!
Huh, was thinking the same thing. I wasn't really a fan of the story (not bad, just not that captivating), but I really liked the characters and the gameplay is unrivaled in the 3D beat-em up genre. I wouldn't say 8/10 is wrong (GAWD I hated the missile sequence), but I would easily bump this up to a 9/10 from my personal perspective. Games like God of War III, DMC Reboot, etc. just don't even compare.
The 3DS is fine. Smash Bros. 3DS has always been a bad idea IMO though. Everyone who drools over the 3DS was so adamant that the 3DS version wasn't watering down the experience (and some even claimed it would be superior! LOL), but now we have proof that's EXACTLY what happened. Ice Climbers get cut for Dark Pit, Dr. Mario, and Falco...not to mention how many other features Sakurai probably won't mention (plus 3DS breaking apart because they aren't made for it). 3DS fans screamed and cried because they didn't want to buy a Wii U for Smash Bros...and this is what we get, both games get watered down.
My personal favorite character, but I'm not too worried because this seems like a big enough problem they'll actually get it fixed quickly. Small problems/exploits always go unfixed, so in a way it's better it's a larger problem
Exactly, I hate it when people are butt hurt it might not be a 3DS exclusives...even though it'd be way better on Wii U...Honestly, I have no interest in the 3DS version anyway because it feels like such a downgrade in controls and graphics. I don't care how many people own the 3DS (and how "amazing" it is), an inferior game is an inferior game. If it does come to Wii U my faith in Capcom may be SLIGHTLY restored...enough to buy this one game from them, at least.
Haha, I was thinking the exact same thing. I love Nintendo, I'll admit I'm a Nintendo fanboy, but holy crap this rewards are god awful Maybe Nintendo doesn't love me as much as I love them T_T LOL
How dare you! Tell the truth...lol. Everyone has different tastes but I agree that of the three X games on SNES X3 was the worst. Playable (yet utterly useless) Zero to appease the rabid Zero fanboys was a good sign right from the start that the game didn't have the right focus in mind.
Buy this spinoff so we can milk fans for enough money to make a main-series iteration on an entirely different system! What is this? Capcom (RE:R) and Sqaure Enix (Kingdom Hearts)?
The Hyrule Warriors Direct was better than the Bayo Direct? Were we watching the same thing? The HW Direct was, IMO, their worst Direct in a long time. It didn't reveal ANYTHING new besides, what? Bombchus? LOL. Playiable Rodin for online co-op op alone beats the entire Hyrule Warriors Direct.
Capcom: No RE Revelations 2 for Wii U!!!!1 Fans: How about Mega Man Legends 3? Capcom: No! Fans: How about port of Monster Hunter 4 to Wii U? That should be pretty easy, right? Capcom: NooooooooooooooooooooOOOO!1!1@ Fans: Ummmm, what can we have then? Capcom: How does the worst version of SF II sound? Now Ex Fans: ...
Hehehe, that's a good analogy. I feel either Capcom will eventually fail...or they'll just end up a laughingstock with a cheap rug for a wig keeping them afloat (Monster Hunter) like Trump.
And it's funny. They made RE 6 Xbox/PS3 only, and people hated it. They made RE Revelations exclusive to 3DS and people loved it. So what do they do? They move the one that's successful on a Nintendo system to the other two without any nod to the original...Capcom, YOU'RE FIRED!
Ehhhh, that's a little spendy IMO, but if I do buy any it will only be a few so it wouldn't be too expensive. I'd love a Peach, Ike, and Shulk. Oh, and maybe Marth and Pikachu so I can throw them into a fire
Yeah, I'm losing faith in Capcom too. Loved the Mega man, Street Fighter, Monster Hunter, Breath of Fire, and Resident Evil series...not to mention the slew of amazing games they released on SNES. Even licensed games like Mickey's Magical Quest were good! They've driven themselves into the ground trying to mimic EA, Activision, and the like, and now they're trying to take a piece from everyone else to stay afloat--even fans with their shady DLC practices. Such a shame. Capcom's downfall is as sad as Bioware IMO, and I fricken' loved Bioware!
Oh crap, I have a good metabolism...I guess I owe you a ton of money now T_T. Seriously though, Capcom is getting desperate if their resorting to patten trolling to keep them afloat.
I don't think you can put it any better. Not only is there already a lot of games on the market similar to this WITH online co-op...there's an amazing, EXCLUSIVE one coming out less than a month later that HAS online co-op already announced: Bayonetta 2. $60 for two amazing games in one package with online co-op or $60 for a bare bones DW game with a Zelda motif and no online co-op...I love Zelda but when you compare them like that I can't even justifying both.
They try so hard, lol. I think it's fine to think it's "controversial" or "breaks the magic", but putting it on Twitter is like trying to make people angry. Maybe Ubisoft is taking lessons from Phil Fish on how to make fans dislike you even if you're a good game maker
I agree, I hate the idea and practice of constant HD remakes, ports, etc. And I hate how much praise these rehashes get when amazing new games get overlooked (I bet you right now Windwaker HD made a lot more money than Wonderful 101...which is so stupid IMO) At the same time I wouldn't mind having a reasonably price Metroid Prime Trilogy, or an F-Zero GX with online...BUUUUUT, I'd also rather see a new entry into either of these series rather than ANOTHER HD remaster.
TBH I don't even like MM that much (definitely wouldn't double dip)...but I just want them to re-release it so people will shut up about it already XD. The whole remaster/port/remake craze lately is driving me up the wall. If the only way to shut people up is to re-release EVERY good game in existence until we run out...so be it, let's get it over with like tearing off a band-aid!
Haha! I was thinking the exact same thing! The whole Direct seemed like an excuse/distraction as to why they decided to omit certain features (like online). Hype train definitely derailed for me as well. Still looks pretty cool, but with Bayonetta less than a month after this AND it has better mechanics/online co-op...sorry Hyrule Warriors, you might not make the cut...unless you count cutting the grass...in which point you're doing amazing
I'm not butthurt...I'm just not going to buy a 7/10 game that doesn't have a enough features (including online) to warrant a $60+ purchase. Amazing games like W101, Mario 3D World, etc. make the cut without online..a DW spinoff just misses the mark IMO.
This could be a deal breaker for me. I was getting excited to try out this game and jump into a new genre...but without online co-op to add to the variety and replay I don't think it's really worth the $60 admission price. Usually, Nintendo games are worth $60 with only local co-op...but his is a TK game with Nintendo characters...there's a HUGE difference. Sadly, probably a bargain-bin purchase now...which is sad because I wanted to support this game at full price.
@FJOJR If this game sells well enough I can assure you we'll be be seeing more games of this type in the future. These kind of 'love-letter' games have a lot of potential for fans who are nostalgia junkies, but more than ready to try a new genre of game. Personally, I've never played a DW game...but with this, now I want to
I'd totally buy that. Chrom not having distinct characteristics is BS...Lucina is just a gender swap of Marth and all of the sudden she's hyper distinct? LOL, no. Not to say I dislike her, she's a great addition, but Sakurai's reasoning reminds me of when the MvC 3 devs were saying the Human Torch would take up too much processing with his flames and then we got Dark Phoenix

Re: Somebody At Ubisoft Really Doesn't Like Mario Kart 8's Mercedes-Benz DLC
@cbkummer
They try so hard, lol. I think it's fine to think it's "controversial" or "breaks the magic", but putting it on Twitter is like trying to make people angry. Maybe Ubisoft is taking lessons from Phil Fish on how to make fans dislike you even if you're a good game maker
Re: Feature: HD Remasters That Would Be Perfect for Wii U
@Ryu_Niiyama
Re: Preview: Exploring Black Magic in Bayonetta 2
My growing disappointment with Hyrule Warriors is quickly being replaced by my hype for Bayonetta 2...glad it's not being released pretty soon
Re: Nintendo's At It Again With Another Majora's Mask Tease
TBH I don't even like MM that much (definitely wouldn't double dip)...but I just want them to re-release it so people will shut up about it already XD. The whole remaster/port/remake craze lately is driving me up the wall. If the only way to shut people up is to re-release EVERY good game in existence until we run out...so be it, let's get it over with like tearing off a band-aid!
Re: Feature: Hyrule Warriors - Everything We Know So Far
@Yurikun
Re: Poll: Is Online Co-Op a Major Miss in Hyrule Warriors, or is Local Multiplayer Enough?
@BlackSpy
I'm not butthurt...I'm just not going to buy a 7/10 game that doesn't have a enough features (including online) to warrant a $60+ purchase. Amazing games like W101, Mario 3D World, etc. make the cut without online..a DW spinoff just misses the mark IMO.
Re: You Won't Be Able To Cross Swords Online In Hyrule Warriors
This could be a deal breaker for me. I was getting excited to try out this game and jump into a new genre...but without online co-op to add to the variety and replay I don't think it's really worth the $60 admission price. Usually, Nintendo games are worth $60 with only local co-op...but his is a TK game with Nintendo characters...there's a HUGE difference. Sadly, probably a bargain-bin purchase now...which is sad because I wanted to support this game at full price.
Re: Official Hyrule Warriors Screens Show Ocarina of Time Stages, Sheik, Darunia, Princess Ruto and More
@FJOJR
If this game sells well enough I can assure you we'll be be seeing more games of this type in the future. These kind of 'love-letter' games have a lot of potential for fans who are nostalgia junkies, but more than ready to try a new genre of game. Personally, I've never played a DW game...but with this, now I want to
Re: Review: Pop'n Twinbee (Wii U eShop / Super Nintendo)
Please come to the US T_T. I awakened a love for shoot-em-ups last gen, but now I don't have very many games to fulfill that love...
Re: Sakurai Explains Why Chrom Didn't Make It Into Super Smash Bros. For Wii U And 3DS
@Splatom
