LOL. I feel the same way about gluten. Everyone thinks that it's Satan's own, but apparently only 2 out of 10 people who refuse to eat Gluten actually have an negative reaction to it. Everyone else it's just a problem of overeating...go figure.
Change can also be bad, but I agree there is no reason to be TOO pessimistic at this point. The only thing that looks like an abomination so far is Knuckles on Roids. The rest looks very promising. I haven't snagged a Sonic game since Sonic Adventure on Dreamcast and this has caught my interest. Tails looks friggin' sweeeeet.
I agree, Tails and Amy actually look pretty sweet. But yeah, re-imaginings are probably a bad sign for a series.
To make it in this world Tails is gonna have to go full-blown anti-hero. Maybe the first scene in the next game will be Tails shooting up Eggman's base...wait, Sega already tried that angle with Shadow the Hedgehog? Never mind then...
Oh, I guess it was like Earthbound where a lot of false info was floating around...I'm way too gullible. Here's hoping we see the DKC Trilogy on Wii U and/or 3DS soon.
Wasn't there some sort of conflict with Rare? I thought that's why the DKC Trilogy got pulled off of Wii Virtual Console (and why Banjo Kazooie went to 360 Marketplace). I'd love to see them on WiiU/3DS but that may sadly not happen...ever
I'd love to have some great niche titles like SMT: Strange Journey, Rune Factory 3, and Solatorobo (and lots more). From that list Advance Wars, Fire Emblem, and Spirit tracks look great. DQ IX would also be awesome if they included some sort of online or gamepad multiplayer...(though sadly unlikely).
Sounds great! I'd love it if they had leader boards. As much as I loved Mighty Switch Force, the lack of leader boards was a bit sad. Besides that, any shmups on Wii U will be very welcome.
Well, I'm kinda wishing it now...not so much during the FF VI-X era...
Either way, I'd love to see this game in the West, I figure the only reason they aren't rushing to bring it over is because they know the fanbase is too small over here to make a significant profit without a monthly fee, but also too small not to face a subscription fee backlash from those same fans (kind of like Monster Hunter).
Nintendo needs to concentrate on Wii U exclusives for a while. Even multiplats like Smash Bros--that will be VASTLY superior on Wii U--aren't shaking some people out of the mentality of "Why buy a Wii U when I have the the 3DS to play similar games on?" And that's people who already own a Nintendo console. Imagine trying to convince a die-hard Kingdom Hearts fanboy that "X" will probably be better than SE's entire 2014 lineup. They'd probably try to bludgeon you with their plastic Keyblade they have hung over the fireplace. And that's a more tame example.
TOTALLY AGREE. I love intelligent systems and I'm hyper excited Nintendo is at least showing them some love, but the last amazing Paper Mario game was TTYD. A new Paper Mario and Fire Emblem for Wii U would be awesome.
@BXXL
Monolith is another amazing in-house Nintendo studio you might want to try (if you haven't already). IMO they are as good as Intelligent systems, Retro, EAD, etc.
Totally. A drop-in-drop-out style of story co-op (like Borderlands) would be amazing for a series like this. The only problem? I'd probably play too much...
EXACTLY what I was thinking. Sure, they could have stolen the tech....eight years ago. That's a long time, especially considering how popular the Wii was so pretty much everyone knew about it. That's patent trolling if I ever saw it. Today, I said 1+1=3 and then patented my stupidity...pay up Texas, especially you Bush.
Huh, it's funny I didn't think about it until you mentioned it, but I'd DEFINITELY put Wonderful 101 in the No. 1 spot for third party game of the year...I was actually a little disappointed with Rayman Legends, sure, it was a great game, but once Mario 3D World and W101 were released I was like: Rayman what? But of course everyone has their own opinion. I might put FE:A a little higher too...buuuut I'm kinda a Fire Emblem fanboy so I can't blame people for not liking it as much as I do.
LOL, I know, right? But I think it's more, "I love the money I get from Sony and MS." If there is ANY reason it's not coming to Wii U, it's a monetary one.
I agree with this statement. I understand haters saying there are too many Mario reps in Smash Bros., but I think Rosalina is a completely worthwhile exception especially with how awesome her move set looks.
Also, I'm now calling 2014 the year of Rosalina. She was in SM3DW and now in Smash, and Kart. Heck, Nintendo is even hinting Mario Galaxy 3...Year of Rosalina: 2014.
@mch LOL, go easy on 'em...they also have Benedict Cumberbatch...KAAAAHN!
@Caryslan
I understand what you're saying with 3DS vs. Wii U holiday lineup, but in the United States Mario games tend to sell more than Pokemon, Zelda, and Mario Party combined. Just because some hardcore fans are angry doesn't mean they know more about the market than people at Nintendo counting the money.
@JaxonH
Totally. Iwata has actually done really well overall. People crying over him to resign is just another facet of the negative feelings people are spreading about Nintendo in general...yeah, resign Iwata, so Vita can actually start selling or Apple can finally gain total control of the market with stuff like Angry Birds
I agree with you on the quality aspect. Mario 3D World is a good example. It took FOREVER, but was well worth the wait IMO. Sure, I want Smash Bros. now, but I don't want a watered down version just so they can get it out sooner. Releasing the 3DS version first does make some sense though...but I doubt the crazies who are claiming it looks better than the Wii U version would be happy with the cuts it'd probably receive because of that.
I'd feel more assured if you didn't add the "hehe" at the end there...T_T. Well, at least we have a release date at all. Xenoblade was "no plans at this time" for a LONG time.
Soooo, angry Sony fanboy goes to a Sony fan site to rant? ... ... ... Why this news? I thought news was reporting on things we DIDN'T know already...lol.
Was thinking the EXACT same thing. When people call me a gamer I get offended now because gamers are apparently the people who would rather buy crappy games on a popular console than amazing games on a less popular one. I mean, I'm all down for Last of Us, Halo, etc...but Knack? Why not just buy nothing and stroke your gameless PS4 in front of your "gamer" friends...it'd have the same effect.
O_O, I know. I put RF4 on the back burner because I didn't have the $$. I better start turning in cans or I may never get it!
I was also a huge fan of Lufia...such a shame to see one of my favorite small developers go under...but I'm probably going to have to get used to it this gen...
Everyone ready for overpowered, fanboy-induced n-air spam? ... ... ...well, I'm not T_T: would have much preferred Zelda and Lucina over Toon Link and Marth, but I think Sakurai has backed himself into a corner with this one. Both T. Link and Marth were so good in Brawl that tons of people started to main them for easy wins and it shot up their popularity. Taking them out would be like taking out Storm, Magneto, or Sentinel in Marvel vs. Capcom...now I'm just getting ready for the inevitable Meta Knight reveal.
I love Nintendo. Love 'em to death, but they miss out on great third-party games, but I can't stand Sony, MS, their politics, or their fanboys. I was definitely going PC this gen, but this may give me a new option. I'll be keeping an eye on this.
Sigh There goes my hope for no more clones...BRING ON THE LANDMASTERS!
Don't get me wrong, Toon Link is awesome...just not awesome enough to have me wanting clones over original characters like Ike, who is actually original (but everyone wants to see get cut)
TBH, I love the direction too, so far. Everyone whines about TP and SS, but personally I thought they were great. Sure, I'd like to see the series take another turn soon, but every time I hear someone say MM was better than TP and SS I just cringe because I couldn't disagree more.

It's not a new fad, but it's gotten far worse this gen. Heck, E3 in general was Sony fooling everyone on purpose then slinging as much mud as they could at MS.
Really, it comes down to games though. 3DS isn't anywhere near the the powerful as Vita, but it's smoking it. People whined and complained but the games shut them up. IMO Nintendo needs to take all that cash they have in the bank and start buying studios, and now is a perfect time. This gen studios left and right will be going bankrupt as devs costs skyrocket so they should have plenty to choose from. Buy studios, launch a ton of Wii U games, third parties will come slinking back, the internet will go back to whining about other things.
Lately it's been the belief that Nintendo's IPs should be shared but Sony and MS are clear to hoard.
Plus, I think this guy has a "gift" for superfluous language. A lot of "journalists" on the internet try to prove their worth by using convoluted language, masked and blatant negativity, and stupid-looking hats. I think when he's saying "jealously hoarded IPs" he could have really meant " many coveted IPs" or heck, "copious amounts of venerated IPs" if he still wants to sound smart. Instead when get derogatory assertions caramelized under a boisterous thatch of leather and nylon for the sake of ineffectual adoration...now where's my hat with the propeller on top?
Haha, it's funny you say that. You know what system I play during the holidays with my family to have a good time? Nintendo systems. You know what systems I'm shouting at the TV because someone just exploited a cheap trick online? Everything else...
I kind of doubt Sony and MS really cater to Bethesda as much as he says. I mean, as a developer who's OBVIOUSLY proud of his work, would he allow a horrendous, freezing glitchfest be released on PS3 and 360? Only if there was enough money in it. I mean, would you want a nude sculpture you consider art be featured in a porn magazine even if they treated REALLY nice? Probably not.
Nintendo just needs to acquire enough it's own amazing companies to stay afloat (Platinum and Atlus would be a good start...) because most third parties will be absorbed by EA and Activision this gen anyway. Even previously big names like Bioware and Blizzard were absorbed by these two already. One bad selling game from Bethesda and we're gonna see Call of Duty: Dragon Born.
I think any Nintendo fan should be annoyed, but I also think we should willing forgive and forget (at least for now) with how much love Ubi is still showing the Wii U. A good example is still giving the Wii U the best version of Rayman
The Wii U version selling the best even after the back-stabbing delay shows they should have tried harder for a timed exclusive though. Imagine how much more it would have sold back in February when there weren't any games coming up for months. That, and Nintendo haters were so desperate not to buy a Wii U they would have still purchased it 7 months later without complaint.
"at this time" They said the same thing about Xenoblade, Last Story and the original Earthbound...don't think people are going to stop asking now that you've opened the gates.
That's kind of a good point. I guess not everyone took advantage of it, but Super Metroid for 30 cents was a sweet deal. And it's not like early adopters don't get to take advantage of the price decreases in games like DK and WW HD.
I can't say I'd turn down an ambassador program reward...but I don't see much of a reason to complain either.
And people keep saying "it's barely under PS4!"...when it's now literally $100 under, and PS4 comes with no games, no digital deluxe promotion, you have to pay for online, and pay for therapy after playing with Neogaffers on PSN...expensive stuff. LOL, not to say PS4 isn't necessarily worth it, but I think the Neogaf indoctrination is working far too well. Even if you only bought one game for PS4 you'd be dropping a Grand on it because of having to pay for online services throughout its lifespan. TBH, I don't know why people aren't flocking to PC in protest of the pay-to-play model.
Same, calling BS. Not that violent video games turn kids into killers, but it definitely desensitizes them in a bad way. I've always been a big supporter of ratings and think that the industry in general should be doing more to educate people/parents on what these ratings mean and how violent/graphic games affect young minds. Oh course, then half of the CoD fanbase would disappear overnight...so not likely to happen.
For those of those in the US looking for a good deal on External Hard drives keep an eye on Newegg.com. They sell computer parts and sometimes video games for cheap (especially if you sign up for their newsletters).
Got my ZombiU bundle for $351 back in March because of one of their sweet deals, and I've seen 1TB hard drives going for $50-$60 sometimes. Missed my chance to save $10 on Rayman Legends last week though T_T.

I've always been a big supporter of ratings and think that the industry in general should be doing more to educate people/parents on what these ratings mean and how violent/graphic games affect young minds. Oh course, then half of the CoD fanbase would disappear overnight...so not likely to happen.
Re: Talking Point: The Wii U's Limited Hard Drive Space and Future Install Headaches
