I think it was about 2 years and 3 months ago (January 2013): I remember them revealing Xenoblade Chonicles X at the same time. The only difference is XBX has gotten a lot of press time...this is only the second time they mentioned this game since it's original trailer O_O. And definitely the only footage we've gotten. Here's hoping the wait was worth it . The last handful of Nintendo console JRPGs were amazing (sadly, it was only a handful though ).
Then make sure to eat right and look both ways before crossing the street . Like some people, I am a little surprised by the choice in art direction but I'm so pleased the project isn't canceled. I guess all my Nintendo fanboy "Nintendo wouldn't sweep this game under the rug, go back to Neogaf and patiently await the next souless SE release!" actually paid off. Haha!
Yeah...I would have easily had platinum under normal circumstances, but I'm like 150 coins short because of the CN shutdown. Oh well, I'll probably just grab Advance Wars.
I think Daisy would make a better in-the-trenches redesign. Heck, even the name Daisy sounds like she should be sliding across the hood of the General Lee!
Yeah, I was thinking the same thing, which is actually kind of neat. The market is saturated with 8-bit throwbacks like Shovel Knight, but it's pretty rare to see a game like this. I almost wish it were a little cheaper (Steam sales have made me stingy), but $5 isn't too bad for high-scoring fun..
With games patches it isn't quite as true as it used to be...that being said, a LOT of things can't be fixed with a mere patch (Mass Effect 3 taught me this all too well).
Am I disappointed it got delayed? Yep. Have I ever been disappointed with the final product of a Nintendo which has been delayed? Nope.
Yup I totally agree too. This whole practice feels like another way to nickel and dime dedicated fans just like EA, Capcom, Ubisoft, etc.
I still like Atlus (for sure) but there was time I loved them. Lately they've just been on this slippery slope of forced higer-priced special editions, weird (and useless) DLC, and milking games to death to the point where I start to dislike characters I onced appreciated (Persona 4 MC: a cool avatar with open-ended nature. Now? Man-whore, sister complex, fighting-game scrub, d-bag. GG Alus)
Wow, that's a lot of walls of text! Haha. Personally, I don't see what they need to go all gender bender on Link when they could easily just make one of many awesome female Zelda characters playable (like Impa or Zelda), or just make a new character entirely.
Ehhhh...I have such a hard time appreciating Zelda clones. Even games that branch out more on their own like Darksiders and Okami. I don't know, maybe it's nostalgia, but every time I play a clone I just want to stop and go play an actual Zelda game.
Fair enough And I like that your opinion didn't take a wall of text! Haha. I think it's still WAY to early for me too. Mobile gaming could taint Nintnedo games...or intelligently augment them...who knows at this point. I just don't want to pay to play like PSN and XBLIVE...I HATE THAT.
This is just accentuating Nintendo's odd situation. Eithey they make a system with nothing that sets it apart (thus making it easy to develop for) like PS4 and Xbox One. Or they keep making systems with different specs/accessories which alienates 3rd-party devs who are just looking for easy ports and easy cash (especially ones growing desperate in the game industry like Capcom, Sega, etc.).
To each their own, but I think Nintendo needs to stick to their guns...while evolving and expanding/buying more studios (Xenoblade and Splatoon are GREAT steps in the right direction). I already have a gaming PC, so I refuse to buy unispired, luke-warm consoles like PS4/XB1. If Nintendo goes that direction I may just stick only to PC.
Haha, yeah! It'd be a shame to put yourself in deep freeze before you knew the release date.
REALLY hyped for this game. More than any other game coming out next year on any system. And after seeing all the playable characters I'm relieved that they all look pretty cool--where would a Xeno game be without an awesome Jin/Citan/Dunban character? It'd be Fina...never mind, I won't start that again XD
I just hope you can have multiple choices for armor with similar defensive/skill abilities. As much I want to take Cat/School girl Elma home...it might break the atmosphere to have her in story-based cutscenes :3
No amount of post editing can fix the damage you've done T_T (LOL). Well, unless NOA decides to release this game soon . After playing rekka no ken for the first time on eshop I'm jumping at a chance to play sacred stones.
I deifniltey second that. Mightly Switch Force HD is one of my favorite eshop titles (well, and it'd be good on any system). And at that price it's a steal.
I would buy some of these myself...but I already own them all O_O. Haha. $15 is a little spendy, but IMO it's better than Shovel Knight at the shame price, so why not? (Yes I have my flame shield ready :3)
Yeah, it is a steap price, espcially considering the Cucco is DLC, so you have to pay more! It's the same reason I took so long to buy. Keep an eye out for deals (like I did), I took advantage of buy-one-get-one-half-off sale, so after buying Smash I got this game for $30! Which was totally worth it...$60 without DLC is a bit high...I did have to eat my words though, the game in general is much better than I thought...except the DLC grinding...ugh.
I kinda understand where Cosats is coming from, some games rely too much on nostalgia and not enough on their own merits...but at the same time nostalgia is often a big part of gaming (the only way to explain why FF is still selling well T_T).
I agree with sinalefa though, would like to see a video of this though...they're obviously trying to lure me in with a cute anime girl...but I won't be won over so easily...I hope
Wow, talk about console butthurt. Steam is far from perfect, but it is by FAR the best digital download service for games. And that's not even defending it that much...it's just EVERY other company does a horrible job with digital games interfaces that Steam just has to do an OK job it's automatically better.
-No stupid monthly fee (gawd I hate these stupid fan-defended, nickel-n'diming schemes)
-Amazing sales($4 Tomb Raider vs. $45-60 on PSN....O....K)
-Even if 98% are garbage, the 2% is still around 50x more good games
-Like unrandomsam said: DRM is easy to break on Steam so the "renting" claim is BS.
I'm a hardcore Nintendo fan, but ignoring what's good is stupid. Sakurai is wise in his choice. Nintnedo SHOULD take notes from Steam. Especially the part about staying free...montly fees are so stupid.
Now there are too many good games at once! I don't like!1111 LOL. I am happy that they FINALLY released the DKC Trilogy in the US though, and all at once too O_O. I'd love for them to do stuff like that again with other good series.
TBH, I haven't been interested much in Atlus lately as much as I love them (too many friggin' spinoffs and ports selling for more than typical 3ds retail). But I'm willing to be a hypocrite for this kind of spinoff. It's less character fan service (PersonaQ, P4G) and more gameplay fanservice: mixing Shirin with EO has a potential for genius.
Uhhhh, if you say so. Monolith and Bethesda could wipe their hard-work sweat from their brows, put it in a bucket, and that bucket would be better than most Bioware (well, and SE) games nowadays because the bucket would have more soul
Haha, I don't know that we're EXACTLY on the same page, but I like where you're going with that.
I like Fan-servicy games sometimes (I just bought Neptunia on Steam last night :3). I also agree with eliminating the gender pay gap (equal work, equal pay. Period).
I just want friend chat. I REALLY don't care about randoms. If I'm playing with randoms, I'm not playing competetively. Plus my experience with randoms usually falls into two categories: Screaming chidren, and butt-hurt elitlist man-children. And I can't stand children...of all ages
Lack of friend chat would be silly though. I actually used it in Monster Hunter with friends and it was great. It made hunting more fun and more productive.
I've gotten through it, and you're probably not missing out on a lot if you weren't enjoying it (especially if you didn't get to the Great Bay Temple...shudder). The atmosphere and side quests are great, but the dungeons and bosses were some of the worst in the series IMO. I don't think the original deserves a 10/10 (even objectively) and a remake getting a 10/10? Break out the Pabst Blue Ribbon. The hipsters have take over Nintendolife!
Yeah, poor Final Fantasy T_T. Luckily a lot of games he made since have been great (Last Story and Lost Odyssey are some of the few recent JRPGs I've enjoyed...but without the name recognition they won't be going anywhere anytime soon).
I think FFVII has more nostalgia for me, but VI is something special...there isn't another game quite like it IMO. It's a perfect mix of pseudo steampunk/fantasy with pixel graphics and midi music that have aged really well. It's like the classic literature of videogames .
LOL, I won't confirm or deny what game it was (no need to start any fights), but the game I played did have a lot of great elements...but a terrible, boring battle system everyone seems to praise like crazy. Not to say I dislike all turn-based RPGs if they have cool customizations like Final Fantasy VI-VIII.
Thanks for the recommendation, at 200 coins it should at least be worth a shot. Top 5 you say? Don't get my hopes up too high though (like with the othe unmentioned game...)
@Paintfrog
Haha, I have a hard time refusing a recommendation from someone with an avatar that cute! I saw some gameplay videos of GS, It's definitely at the top of my list (especially with 1000 coins in the bank).
Huh, is that what they actually said? Shame...considering Nintendo + PC is all I'll ever do again. I'm not ENTIRELY ready to completely write off Ubisoft, but they're obviously not doing anything support me.
-Delayed games (Rayman) -Crappy Ports (AC: Unity PC, Watch Dogs Wii U, etc.) -Refusal to make sequels to promising series (ZombiU)
If you own a PS4 or Xbox One and still aren't tired of Assasin's Creed you're probably in heaven though
Noooooooooo...I mean, I loved the British voices in Xenoblade, but the ship is called Neo Los Angeles....British voices would just be wrong T_T...unless they have a sub-plot where you learn Great Britain conquered the USA ...How did they conquer the US? Jaffer Cakes. LOL.
You'd be crazy to not get W101 for 600 coins--amazing deal. I already have it though, so I'll have to get something else. Golden Sun, maybe? I've heard it was good...but the last retro JRPG I played was...underwhelming ...and it was one that has a rabid cult following O_O
I agree. Everything about the demo was great...except the boring slog waiting for aliens to move...OMG. I understand it's mimicking the enemy phase from Fire Emblem....but it really isn't working in this game.
As much as I hate to rush to the defense of a big corporation (pfftt, like they need more money), these youtube stars are just as greedy...except the only thing they contributed to these games are girly screams, terrible video editing, and a ton of stupid memes. I'm afraid I'm going to side with the original artist on this one. Playing the entire unaltered game and getting 100% of the profit? Vanilla Ice, anyone? (dun, dun, dun, d-d-dun.....sssss!)
To those who are curious the file size on E-shop is advertised as 8025.9 MB (~8GB) for the trilogy.
But it's a no-brainer for me. I've been meaning to get the entire trilogy for a while and this price is unbeatable. It's like one of the good steam sales...but on Nintendo O_O
I kind of agree, but considering the last one had Twili Midna (one of my favorite characters ever) vs. Tingle (meh) and Young Link (meh) I guess that's not a huge surprise :3
Monolith is one of the FEW devs who actually makes their games better with each game in a series based on criticism and fan response (one of the reasons they're one of my favorites). Just look at how they responsed and improved the Xenosaga series between episode II and III. And it's like they listened and fixed EVERYTHING wrong (besides anime tropes) with Baiten Kaitos in the next game.
I actually think scores like this pretty fair considering modern standards, even if I still enjoy games like this. I think the only thing that's unfair is a game like this gets its battle system criticized to pieces and a game like Earthbound--with an equally dull combat system--gets it mostly overlooked (or even praised). Then again, the BoF fanbase is like a small second-hand store, whereas the Earthbound fanbase is like fantatic cult that'll gut you if you're even honest about its shortcomings .
Awwwww, sad face T_T. I ended up liking Hyrule Warriors more than I thought I would, but Bayonetta 2 was still a better game and deserved better sales. Name recognition, that's the name of the game.
Hahaha, I know, right? I've been turned off to Atlus games for a while now because of the stupid price points for spin-off games. I friggin' loved Shirin (Wii) and really liked Etrian Odyssey IV so if they ACTUALLY charge $40 this time I'll probably get it.
I think their whiny-ness has some merit though. A lot of amazing series were marred solely by tacking on crappy games. That said, I'd be willing to take the risk with Cave Story. It's one of my top 5 indie games (easy), and I didn't think the Wii Ware and 3DS re-releases were bad either.
I hope they have a good English voice cast, and in this case I hope they're American (not British). Don't get me wrong, I liked the British voice actors for the original Xenoblade, but this is based in Neo Los Angeles...to me, the characters speaking Japanese or with a British accent would just be a big atmosphere breaker to me. Especially since I live near LA...and well, let's just say they don't talk ANYTHING like a typical British person
Gaining traction in the West? So like every one of your series that gets popluar on a Nintendo console you'll immediately port it to Sony and act like the Nintendo fans who made it popular never existed by giving them no further sequels? LOL, OK. Friggin' Capcom...

Just look at how they responsed and improved the Xenosaga series between episode II and III. And it's like they listened and fixed EVERYTHING wrong (besides anime tropes) with Baiten Kaitos in the next game.
Re: Review: Breath of Fire (Wii U eShop / Super Nintendo)
I actually think scores like this pretty fair considering modern standards, even if I still enjoy games like this. I think the only thing that's unfair is a game like this gets its battle system criticized to pieces and a game like Earthbound--with an equally dull combat system--gets it mostly overlooked (or even praised). Then again, the BoF fanbase is like a small second-hand store, whereas the Earthbound fanbase is like fantatic cult that'll gut you if you're even honest about its shortcomings .
Re: Koei Tecmo Releases Awesome Hyrule Warriors Wallpapers to Celebrate One Million Units Shipped
@midnafanboy
Awwwww, sad face T_T. I ended up liking Hyrule Warriors more than I thought I would, but Bayonetta 2 was still a better game and deserved better sales. Name recognition, that's the name of the game.
Re: Key WayForward Director is Bringing His Solo Project to Wii U
Who knows how it'll turn out, but if this anything like when Monolith left Square (but on a smaller scale) you can bet I'll grab it .
Re: Poll: Nintendo's Year of Multiplayer Gaming on Wii U and 3DS Aims to Bring Us Together Online and At Home
@BensonUii
Good call . I would say Monster Hunter, but I'm just not a big fan of playing monster on a small screen with terrible controls
Re: Atlus Shows Off Terrific Launch Edition Extras for Etrian Mystery Dungeon
@Jim_Purcell
Hahaha, I know, right? I've been turned off to Atlus games for a while now because of the stupid price points for spin-off games. I friggin' loved Shirin (Wii) and really liked Etrian Odyssey IV so if they ACTUALLY charge $40 this time I'll probably get it.
Re: Rumour: Cave Story 2 Teased at PAX South and Could Be in the Works
@Gorlokk
Re: Xenoblade Chronicles X Will Feature An "Outstanding" Voice Cast
I hope they have a good English voice cast, and in this case I hope they're American (not British). Don't get me wrong, I liked the British voice actors for the original Xenoblade, but this is based in Neo Los Angeles...to me, the characters speaking Japanese or with a British accent would just be a big atmosphere breaker to me. Especially since I live near LA...and well, let's just say they don't talk ANYTHING like a typical British person
Re: Capcom's Ryozo Tsujimoto Feels Monster Hunter Is Gaining Traction In The West
Gaining traction in the West? So like every one of your series that gets popluar on a Nintendo console you'll immediately port it to Sony and act like the Nintendo fans who made it popular never existed by giving them no further sequels? LOL, OK. Friggin' Capcom...
