Re: Random: Sakurai Takes A Stand Against CGI Game Trailers

PMFan354

I kind of agree. I've seen game trailers that do this and while I like the CGI, I just want to see the game itself to know if it's for me and how it plays.

So yeah, there can be an exception, but nearly always, I just want to see some of the gameplay.

In some cases, it also can feel like wasting my time.

I'm not against not having CGI, as it can be nice. But usually, game trailers really need to quickly show the gameplay aspects in the main trailer.

Re: Round Table: Let's Talk About Palworld - Comparisons, Controversy, 'Copying'

PMFan354

I'm glad everyone is having fun with the game. I think they skillfully made all the mechanics work in an engaging way.

The only part that bugs me is how close the Pals look from different parts of Pokemon. But it is a parody game and done as a joke on purpose and to try to get Pokemon fans into it too, from what I've understood.

I still would rather the designs change a bit more as they should've done more unquie designs that are inspired by something, instead of cut, paste and copy. But if it's all legal it'll probably stay that way for those reasons.

Re: Kirby Developer HAL Laboratory Recruiting For New Projects

PMFan354

I'm happy with all of that. 3D, 2D, RPG, next mingame, maybe a Super Kirby Clash 2 sometime as well? I agree that Kirby could make a really good and interesting RPG just because of the setting and the lore and the potential with the stories.

I'd like another platformer as well though, open world sounds a really good idea but anything done well with Kirby would still work.

Forgotten Land was great.

Looking forward to what they do with Kirby next.

Re: Princess Peach: Showtime! Trailer Reveals Ninja Peach And Cowgirl Peach

PMFan354

@BLD Those clips did go by very fast. I thought that too but I still wasn't left with impression it'd be quite like that. I still think it looks like different minigame segments with the different costumes. To me that look fun to join in with, rather than rushing through everything like in the trailer. I.e A better length of time than just 5 seconds of doing this and that, but probably this is still minigames and lots of platformer segments.

It might not be for everyone but the action looks good so far.

The problem is that it's not clear enough for everyone to understand yet but I think they're hiding a lot of the footage on purpose right now. I think they wanted it to be quick glimpses on purpose. It depends if a better trailer is planned in a February direct.

I feel a lot of Nintendo games now hide most of the info until very very close to release. Side Order seems to be doing that and TotK did it.

The graphics and models look good. I think they should just make it clearer, but so far it looks good to me and not something that will be too rushed, so I'm not worried at the moment. I can't prove anything until more is revealed for certain though.

They need a clearer trailer but I think that will come, I'd wait longer before worrying as the trailers are short but not bad footage either, but I get it's close to release now and the game should start getting clearer.

Re: Pokémon's Former Chief Legal Officer "Surprised" Palworld Got This Far

PMFan354

I didn't expect the game to be good and it sounds like it had a lot of thought put into it. I'm not surprised if it was surprising.

People seem to like the mechanics a lot. I do doubt that most of it really copies Pokemon beyond some inspiration.

But yes come on, those designs are clear cut Pokemom copies. Some of them are like photoshopping different parts of Pokemon and combining different Pokemon pieces together.

So yeah, there paradox Pokemons are quite interesting. I haven't encountered those in Area Zero just yet.

Jokes aside, I really don't know. Are the designs legal? I'm not a lawyer so I've no idea but I'm sure they'd know they'd have to tread carefully with this. I don't get how this one case is legal but it's looking that way. But yes, they took a bit more then just inspiration on that one aspect of the game, some/most of the models themselves.

Maybe they will have to change the designs more, to look a bit less like Pokemon pieces, I actually hope that happens, but what else can possibly be sued?

I'm still glad it's a fun game and people enjoy it a lot. Certainly has brought up a lot of disscusion over here and everywhere else on the Internet. Most people seem really positive. So I'll trust that and I'm glad in that aspect.

Re: Pokémon Fans Set Their Sights On Palworld's Monster Designs

PMFan354

I actually don't really like how close the designs are either and the copying there is extreme. Can understand it being pointed out by others. I partly wonder if it's meant to be a joke in that regard, that's it's done on purpose to create a joke out of it. I admit it's a bit funny but not really the greatest idea, imo. I'm sure they could've done better differentiation with their designs.

However, I wouldn't say anything else about the game is a direct copy of Pokemon, the rest is another monster catcher game with some big difference from the most popular one. As Pokemon does not own all future monster catcher games at the same time.

I'm glad people seem to be enjoying the game though. It sounds like they probably put a lot of thought on how to make it fun. I like that aspect of it.

Re: Random: The 'Pokémon-With-Guns' Game On Steam Is Yet More Homework Copying

PMFan354

@JohnnyMind Just very recently, YouTube recommended a lot of videos of people playing this to me. I scanned through quite a few of them and the people were mostly very positive saying the game is fun. Only 1 out of around 7-8 of those videos was negative. It also has mostly good reviews on Steam.

But I haven't played it myself, so I can't help much beyond that. I'd still seek further feedback, as I don't know, but it has an audience that likes it from the feedback I've seen.

It's also still Early Access on Steam.

Re: Poll: How Much Internal Storage Would Be Reasonable For 'Switch 2'?

PMFan354

With just my guessing, I don't think it'll be more than 500GB or even that much. But 256GB, or about that, sounds possible. I think it'll be at least 128GB.

It's hard to tell what Nintendo will do this time. I'm guessing it depends on their thoughts on the file size of their future games for that console.

1TB would be great but Nintendo will have to had change their views and mindsets for Switch 2, for this. And that's possible and can happen. My guess is still less then that.

Re: Poll: Box Art Brawl: Duel - Mario Golf: Advance Tour

PMFan354

I was thinking, what am I voting based on? With my opinion, the image itself can go to Japan as it looks really nice but it's just so far off from showing Mario Golf. I voted NA/EU for that reason. Both images are good to look at but only one really shines in showing it's based on Mario. But for myself, Japan's one still has a nicer image.

Re: The Pokémon Company Donates 50 Million Yen To Aid Japan's Earthquake Victims

PMFan354

To me, it's something and it's still big as it will be of help. Whether they should give more or not, and yes they really can give more, but at least it's a good action.

So I'm pleased to hear it. I just hope for the best for the people involved. It's good to give to a charity with a good cause making a difference. (Don't have to give too much if that's too hard but anything can always help). I'm not saying that last statement applies to TPC, in this case.

Re: Talking Point: What Was The Best Switch Moment Of 2023?

PMFan354

That is a really hard choice because I want to vote for more than one.

I still went for TotK opening as it was really good. They handled the atmosphere, writing and art really well. A lot of excitement in the opening.

I thought SMW's Piranha Plants on Parade, TTYD, Metroid Prime's Remaster shadow dropped and F-Zero 99 are good picks too.

Pikmin 4 in it's entirely was a great surprise as well.

Re: Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door Rated For Switch By ESRB

PMFan354

I'm just really glad they're putting TTYD on Switch.

I'm also surprised with the E rating. I wasn't sure they'd be able to quite get it. People above have said most of the reasons that I also think of.

There are definitely a few mature themes in the game and they aren't quite all just about flirting either.

Overall though, most of the game feels very E+ anyway. There is really good use of humour in TTYD. A very enjoyable game.

Re: Feature: Nintendo Switch Ports We'd Love To See In 2024

PMFan354

I just want WW already, TP as well would be great. I just have this impression we'll finally get them sometime but nobody can guess accurately when. That's how Nintendo's left it.

They'd be great on this Switch, I'm sure. Waiting until Switch 2 before they drop is also looking more and more likely. Unless they announce them very soon.

I just have to leave it as "one day, who knows when" and not get too excited beyond that.

Re: Soapbox: Cassette Beasts Is The Monster-Catching RPG For A Disillusioned Pokémon Fan

PMFan354

I don't know where I stand fully. Pokemon Legends Arceus was really fun for me. The base content for Scarlet was mixed for me. I thought the writing was good, it had some fun gameplay element's but it shouldn't have been released in that state.

I was disappointed but I want to know what they'll do next, as that will determine if I keep buying them. As long as I can have fun I probably will but it really depends on what is released next and if it's released in a good condition.

I feel they disappointed me somewhat overall. But I did enjoy the base game's writing as I said before. I just feel very mixed. The game was still very enjoyable for me overall but the lag, trainers walking into your Pokemon, lights flickering, etc. It just takes away from it at the same time.

Pokemon-like games are great. Cassette Beasts sounds really good in that area. As does the others mentioned here. Coromon and maybe Temtem & Nexomon. I see lots of pros and cons on the feedback to those games but it's nice to see others take on that type of formula and see what they produce.

I can also mention that Pokemon Sword disappointed me greatly, except the DLC, and that was due to the writing being really bad or not my taste. I thought Scarlet and Violet avoided most of those mistakes but then they had all those other issues you couldn't not see, I just agree with the view TPC need to have more development time with their games as right now it's just so bad how there is always a lacking area in the recent games. I don't feel Arceus falls into that category though.

Re: Feature: Nintendo Switch Year In Review 2023 - Our Most Played Games

PMFan354

Pokemon Unite for me. I know it's an odd niche choice but I'm pretty good at it, (for me), and overall play it a lot.

I still have breaks from it, had a 3 month break from it recently.

Funny enough, TotK is 4th so it doesn't appear for me but my own Switch data shows me it's 4th. Still nearly on there, though!

Stardew Valley is 2nd and Pokemon Scarlet is 3rd.

I don't expect to return to Pokemon Scarlet after the DLC but I do plan to put a lot more hours into TotK and Stardew Valley. I will continue playing Pokemon Unite, as always, as well.

I'm surprised Pokemon Scarlet beat TotK to be honest, but I'm not surprised with Pokemon Unite nor Stardew Valley.

This happens to be the 1st year I've played Stardew Valley, at all, as well.

Re: Fortnite's Dev Really Wants A Crossover With Nintendo But Hasn't Had Any Luck

PMFan354

I really don't think that's a good idea, at least with Mario and probably Zelda. With the tones, themes and differences in all the skins and guns running around and all, it just sounds odd to me. I don't see many Nintendo characters fitting in. Funny enough, Samus is probably okay?

As others said, Nintendo would have to gain an advantage too, but I think right now they just wouldn't want that with their IPs, as they're very protective of them and careful how they're used.

Re: Sega Plans To Revive Even "More" Legacy Franchises

PMFan354

I'm glad to hear they found a way to finally develop their games and their concepts. It's really surprising though, and on top of how long it's taken, how did they finally do it?

This does look great though and is a nice surprise. The games also look good so far. Looking forward to hearing what other series they plan to bring back out.

Re: Sega Appears To Be Teasing A Game Awards Surprise

PMFan354

If it's Sonic, I hope it's another good game. I thought Sonic Frontiers was quite good, from most of the game, which is what I played so far. I was surprised but hopefully it's a sign Sega will make their games better quality. We'll see.

Re: Award-Winning Cosy Mining Adventure 'Core Keeper' Digs Onto Switch Next Year

PMFan354

I love the artstyle. I know it's so much like Stardew Valley, but it visually looks really nice. This is one of the indie games that caught my interest, so I'll check on what the reviews say upon release.

I'd prefer the single-player route, so that's the main thing I'll be checking about it at the time.

Hopefully both ways of playing is really fun and it'll be a good indie game on Switch. It looks very likely it'll be the case.

Re: Zelda's Voice Actor Would "Love" To Reprise Her Role In The Live-Action Movie

PMFan354

BotW Zelda was sort of a plot twist arc, part of which has Zelda feel she's under extreme pressure and overwhelmed, so I didn't mind as much how she was voiced then. I did wish she gave the voice more confidence in TotK though.

If she changed how Zelda sounds, it might be okay but as others said she is in her 40s now and I'm not convinced either, that she could look like the Zelda from the different video games and play the role visually correctly for that reason. I guess it depends but I don't have confidence in it.

Re: Soapbox: Six Months Later, Tears Of The Kingdom's Sense Of Wonder Is Still Unmatched

PMFan354

I got burnt-out on it but loved the gameplay from where I left off. Honestly, I think it's a great game.

At the moment I have Super Mario RPG coming soon and I also want to get into the Pokemon Scarlet DLC, as I feel the gameplay is still Pokemon fun but agree with it's flaws.

I will go back to TotK though for sure, it does feel like such a great game to me. I love the sky islands and would've loved more of those, those were what I tried to get to first with the Zonai builds. But it's all really good. Underground is a fun challenge too.

But I get it's not for everyone and that is fine and makes sense too.
