Re: Talking Point: In 2023, Do You Still Care About amiibo?

PMFan354

I like Amiibo but they seem expensive to me so I never get any.

If you want a statue of a Nintendo character (or others) that you like, then you could get them.

But otherwise they don't seem worth it to me. I'd rather buy games with that money.

I still like the idea of them though. There are people who buy them and I expect Nintendo will keep making Ambiio's. I assume it will just keep going but they will at least for now.

Re: Nintendo Will Reportedly "Boost" Switch Production In 2023

PMFan354

I still hope there is a new 3D Mario this year, it's still possible at the moment. It might be one of their surprises as they must still have surprises of some kind not shown yet, unless all of that is planned to go into Zelda TotK and Pikmin 4.

Would be strange if there isn't one by next year though.

Re: Talking Point: What Is The Most Frustrated You've Ever Been With A Video Game?

PMFan354

I don't remember as I usually find a way past it or give up and then move on.

That said, Super Mario Sunshine is definietly one of them. Just being able to use the controls correctly makes the platformer so challenging and hard. I didn't stop playing the game over it though.

Hollow Knight as well I guess. It's high difficulty for me, which makes me usually only play it to achieve a single goal at a time here and there. I guess that counts as frustrating.

I never attempt Legendary Pokemon in Pokemon games unless the catch rate is easy. It's more to do with patient's and staying alive. Yes I need a status effect and 1HP sweeping Pokemon like Gardevoir or something else.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (January 14th)

PMFan354

@mudkipfan217 There are a lot of good indie games out there, so you'll enjoy looking through some! Same here, I started recently, about a few months ago.

Glad to hear you enjoyed it a lot! Moonlighter is a game I've started recently as well but completely agree with you. The music is really good. I like the artstyle a lot too. You're right, the difficulty is good. You make progress no matter what.

It's great when they add a easier mode and harder mode as well, as everyone has different difficulty settings that they like best, Moonlighter is a game that does do that too.

The DLC sounds worth it. Hopefully it's good as you'll probably enjoy that when you get to it.

There are a lot of Indie games out there that just look beauitful in some way.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (January 14th)

PMFan354

Hyrule Warriors: Definitive Edition.

I missed out on it, I know it's nothing like Zelda games play, but I'm having a lot of fun with the game.

I will give the other one ago at some point. I'm aware it has a twist, but it still sounds really cool to have a story on the BotW characters, so I want to give it ago for that reason.

As well, some indie games. The Messenger and Moonlighter. Really cool games.

Re: Talking Point: So, When Will Nintendo Announce Its Next Console?

PMFan354

This time it feels difficult to know exactly when. I doubt it will be this year, although I would agree anything is possible. I mean a mainline Zelda doesn't normally release without a new console, but I think this time it will.

If 2023 was the goal, I'd expect a lot more hype and marketing already, so I just doubt it for 2023.

I think both 2024 and 2025 are very possible. I actually hope 2024 as a new console is due, but we'll see what they do. 2024 and 2025 seem realistic to me.

I mean they really could wait even longer, but I hope not. I'll guess 2024 as that's more what I hope for.

Hopefully backwards compatibility and higher graphics, better hardware and stuff. Hopefully no more long loading screens on all Nintendo games like on the Switch? Yes maybe? Well either way, hopefully Nintendo can make something fun and successful.

Re: Best Of 2022: Which Zelda Game Should You Play First?

PMFan354

This is a nice disscusion and poll.

To me, I feel like you could start with any and that's fine. There may be some better to start with but any seems fine as well.

The only thing I can think is that Skyward Sword reveals certain mysterious plot points on other games, but I don't really see a problem starting with it either.

I forgot about that, though. From a difficulty perspective I suppose an easier Zelda to beat? Wind Waker onwards maybe? But even if you can't easily beat it, I think any before Wind Waker is otherwise a good starting point too.

Re: Soapbox: If You Thought Last Year Was "Sad" For Switch, 2023 Might Be Hard To Handle

PMFan354

I thought it was pretty good to be honest. Kirby and the Forgotten Land is really good. Pokemon Arceus is a nice new move for Pokemon.

Xenoblade Chronicles 3 feels like a really good RPG to me. (Although I need to return and finish it!)

I thought Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope is a lot of fun too, overall.

Pokemon Scarlet & Violet did a lot right and I have had a lot of fun with it, but unfortunately I do agree it's way bugger than it should be, and can understand people being upset. I think it's a mix for different people because of the issues.

Mario Party 1 & 2 is a good choice to add to the NSO.

I can understand people hoping something "newer" and "more" in Splatoon 3 but it's still a proper upgrade with new weapons and stages, etc.

I don't know, it was pretty good.

I did wish we had a 3D Mario, like every 5 years, but hopefully we can have it this year, maybe! And if it has more development time, it should hopefully be better when we have it.

It looks like Zelda and Pikmin is going to be good this year.

Re: Best Of 2022: How's Your Switch Holding Up After 5 Years?

PMFan354

I got mine (the second model) in 2020. It's still the one I use and it's in good condition. Joy Cons were fine, slight drift but didn't matter, except I dropped them on a hard floor recently, so I replaced the right one. Left one slighly disconnects now, but not a big issue so far. As long as that doesn't happen again, I'll keep Joy Cons. Otherwise I can consider some other controller. I also plan on sending the right one in for repair, since apparently I can do that, so I'll try sometime soon.

Re: Best Nintendo Switch Games Of 2022

PMFan354

Tunic and Rouge Legacy are definitely two games I want to play, but I'll be finishing some other games first.

I'm not sure what my top 10 are, but Kirby and the Forgotten Land, XC3 and Pokémon Legends: Arceus are three of them.

Splatoon 3 is incredibly fun too, but I've not been taking advantage of that yet.

Re: Pokémon UNITE Code Gives Coins And Gold Emblem Box To Celebrate 100 Million Downloads

PMFan354

@Snatcher Yeah, it's really fun! Same here! Yeah I'm not too worried just yet, but yeah it is concerning if they don't change. I'm waiting to see what happens next. They had an interview where they said Pokemon licences won't all be high priced, but atm they haven't done that so idk.

It not looking good, but I'll see what happens next. The mission rewards have become more generous, but at this rate I won't be buying new Pokemon very often. Thankfully I have a lot of the older ones, so I have enough of them for variety and stuff.

If it really keep going like this, idk I'm still playing but less so than before. Hopefully they listen to feedback, as they gave a feedback survey and I'm sure everyone has told them to stop increasing the prices.

Re: Pokémon UNITE Code Gives Coins And Gold Emblem Box To Celebrate 100 Million Downloads

PMFan354

@Snatcher The new ones mostly cost 12k and a few are 14k. So they've been going up so far.

Yeah, it's not good. I haven't bought the new ones. Older ones are still 10k max.

Also for 1 week after release they had them only purchasable with gems, then the free aeos coins.

For 1 they gave it a bundle "discount", where during the 1st week you could only get it with the "discount" holowear that cost more gems. Thankfully it's only happened once, but pretty bad ideas there imo.

I'm hopeful they won't keep costing 14k, but have to wait and see.

Re: Pokémon UNITE Code Gives Coins And Gold Emblem Box To Celebrate 100 Million Downloads

PMFan354

@kal_el_07241 I don't really disagree as you don't see other people trainers much. But you can look at them on the loading into the game screen, by clicking on their chosen Pokemon, and some people do do that. It's still only once for a very short amount of time though, but yeah you have a short chance to see them.

Can't agree more that their cosmetics are way overpriced. I really enjoy the game so I play it, but I've almost not bought any cosmetics at all because of the prices. They've started to set prices high for Pokemon licences too.

I wouldn't say the cosmetics themselves are garbage, but because of the prices, I agree as there is not much point to them, so yeah, sort of.

They've been a lot more generous with rewards and missions you can do for good rewards, but because other stuff is so expensive, it feels like it's a mix where they are being generous here and there, but also way way too greedy at the same time. Right now, not a good message overall for the players. I suppose I should say at least it can be fun to play.

Re: Face Tyranitar Or Salamence In Pokémon Scarlet And Violet's Next Limited-Time Tera Raid Battle

PMFan354

@Lizuka You can play the opposite versions on your game on the Tera Raid board screen. Or join a website where people do link codes.

The only problem is if you can get into a Tera Raid online. Which is a problem. But they otherwise let you get either in either game.

If you mean there are exclusives to each game and exclusives that are not easy to get, then yeah. But these events are not exclusives, as long as you have online play, when you can open the Tera Raid board and join the opposite game version exclusives. But yeah.

In those cases though, if you do link codes where people are trading each exclusives, that's one way to get them. But I'd agree their not to easy to otherwise get.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (December 3rd)

PMFan354

Yeah the ending to Pokemon Scarlet and the whole final main story, was not what I was expecting this game to do lol. I enjoyed it but that took me by surprise.

I EV trained a Umbreon for a bunch of 5*, 6* and the 7* Event, Terra Raids. Mostly works really well. Apart from a few counters (and probably my weakness types, but I'm not even trying to fight my own weakness types that are above 5* for Umbreon).

I had no idea what I am doing, so Reddit helped me with my Terra Raid Umbreon support build. It does work mostly well.

This weekend is Pokemon Scarlet, Umbreon in Terra Raids for me. And Slowbro in Pokemon Unite for me as well.

Re: Feature: 30 Changes We'd Like To See In The Next Pokémon Scarlet & Violet Update

PMFan354

I saw threads on Reddit where people were having the same problem as me, that is Online Tera Raid Battles.

Choosing the ones on the screen can go faster, (be taken off, or already filled with 3 other people), than them loading on the screen for me. So I struggle to get into them often. I actually have started to get in a few and the Eevee ones from this Eevee event are also working for me, mostly. But it otherwise is annoying as I can only, for the most part, get into the ones from my own Tera Raids. If that can be fixed a bit it would ve great.

Agreed with all these, especially, customisation for outfits, a way to speed up battles, ginger hair, sparkles for colourblind people as well as everyone else, and a few others.

Edit: More trees from a distance and fixes to upgrade distant graphics and visuals, yes to that too please.

Let us also see on our maps the stars of Tera Raids, so that's before we choose to teleport to them.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (November 26th)

PMFan354

Pokemon Scarlet. Despite some obvious issues, I'm mostly having a lot of fun with the game. I really like the open world aspect to it. Gameplay is mostly good. It's actually fun finding Pokemon everywhere and exploring the open world. Although I still feel they should've fixed some of the issues before release.

I have hope they will send a patch out within a month, or so, that could help. But we'll only know if they announce one. Patches of some kind will come out eventually, so it's possible.

Re: Video: Digital Foundry's Technical Analysis Of Pokémon Scarlet And Violet

PMFan354

@Snatcher Yeah the gameplay is important, and I think it's really fun. I think they did get that right.

I also like the music a lot myself. Pokemon models are mostly good, same for the characters. They can look really nice. Some close up graphics are nice too.

Far away, graphics could look better, but it's easy to see where is what from a distance, which is good. Far distance graphics are good enough for gameplay.

They playtested this much, it's just sometimes from distances people & Pokemon can pop in, and, from a distance, moving can make someone vanish and reappear, but they are still there to interact when you get close. As well as some other issues.

It does seem like it wasn't playtested in that regard.

But mostly doesn't affect the gameplay that much. So I've kind of just decided to try and ignore it, while playing I mean, and am glad I'm having a lot of fun.

Re: Video: Digital Foundry's Technical Analysis Of Pokémon Scarlet And Violet

PMFan354

@Snatcher It's really weird. It feels like either no proper testing was done, or they made an error fixing one thing and broke the performance without realising.

Or they decided to meet a deadline when it needed more time.

Yeah, idk. I just really hope they don't ignore the complaints and patch it as best as they can. I actually think they will at least try to, patches of some kind will come out, but who knows.

I think they really will have to listen to the feedback, in some form, this time around. But I'm not saying they will for certain, unless it happens.

I'm glad the gameplay aspects are mostly fun for me.

Re: Video: Digital Foundry's Technical Analysis Of Pokémon Scarlet And Violet

PMFan354

@Snatcher I kept my pre-order. I haven't played it as much as I want, but I've played it for a while and am having fun. The gameplay aspect is mostly good for me.

But um, yeah to all these comment. I do have to look pass a lot of weird performance issues and still stand that they really should patch this if they can.

And I can understand people who are getting refunds. I'm thankful I can enjoy it anyway, but that doesn't make it acceptable.

So idk, you might enjoy it a lot. But I can't promise anything.

Re: Round Up: The Reviews Are In For Pokémon Scarlet And Violet

PMFan354

@Snatcher Alright that's good.

But yeah, why can't we have both? I feel that too, or I think so. I do accept the Switch really has hardware limits, we know that, but something else feels off in some ways. I'm not convinced this case is just Switch hardware.

Hoping Pokemon Scarlet & Pokemon Violet has a good case for them to take performance and graphics more seriously, they don't have to sacrifice gameplay for it or anything, so yeah.

Re: Round Up: The Reviews Are In For Pokémon Scarlet And Violet

PMFan354

@Snatcher Yeah I agree with you on all of this. I think they should put more effort in graphics and performance forwards, but not instead of gameplay or anything.

It's just, this game is a really good case as to why they should.

Also, I don't mean that you may enjoy it less than you think or anything discouraging like that, I don't know at all and can't say either way and don't want to say either, that's up to you when you play it. I'm guessing I probably will have fun with the game myself (hopefully!), but I just mean their graphics with performance should still be good even if it's a lot of fun.

Music should be good. Am sure the music will be good, or expecting so. Seems good from what I saw so far.

Re: Round Up: The Reviews Are In For Pokémon Scarlet And Violet

PMFan354

@Snatcher Up vote, but that should not excuse performance issues. Sure, great it's fun for many people anyway, but these particular performance issues look extreme from footage of people who played it, so if I end up having fun overall as well (hope so), I agree, but I do care about issues at the same time.

I'm assuming I can trust all the footage I've seen, though. They say it's the physical game and not a ROM, so probably.

Re: Review: Pokémon Scarlet And Violet - An Open-World Poké Playground Full Of Promise (And Tech Issues)

PMFan354

Honestly, does sound like a fair review.

The critic reviews I've read, and comments by people who played the game early, are mostly positive about most aspects of the game, but then point out that the game does suffer from some serious performance issues.

Which is a shame really. I have a feeling user comments are going to be broken down to, those who can cope with the problems and stay positively overall anyway, those who can't cope with the performance issues and it has to be a bad game for them, and those in-between these two sides.

I don't know what side I'd end up on, but I'll keep my pre-order risk and hope I can have fun with the game. I probably can look past it, but will find out!

Can't understand why TPC couldn't fix the biggest issues, Switch hardware maybe part of it, but when Breath of The Wild runs fine, I can't see why they couldn't find a way to fix it. Maybe there is hope a patch of some kind can improve on it, even if it's not the day one patch, but who knows.

I know Breath of The Wild runs very different, without Pokemon everywhere that you interact with and start battling. But it does have enemies everywhere in an action combat setting, and NPC's walkimg about and towns that are just fine when compared to Pokemon Scarlet.

Re: Pokémon GO Fans Are Not Happy With Niantic's Apology For Bungled Zorua Event

PMFan354

Free rewards are nice and better than nothing already, but it also can depend on how valuable they are. A good apology means they should be at a acceptable level without being too little or too much. I guess?

If they're fine, nothing to complain about. Otherwise, complaints are fair, no?

The only other problem they can run into is that this can be a very subjective issue and rewards can always look very different to even just two different people. That's just a big issue they can't help fully.

But they should be fair to their players.

I don't play Pokemon Go, so I have no idea. But I hope they gave the right apology and with it, the right free rewards.

Re: Talking Point: Do You Name Your Pokémon?

PMFan354

I don't normally name my Pokemon. It's because I can't think of nicknames for all of them and they sort of have names already.

I think it can be fun to name them though. I have named some in pass games, but not many.

Re: Pokémon Scarlet And Violet Are Out This Week, Which Version Are You Getting?

PMFan354

Scarlet. I pre-ordered from the start. I like the colours on Koraidon, and I just like him more too. He does seem a bit more awkward when riding in the trailers, but I still prefer his colours and design anyway. I recently saw the leaks about the exclusive Pokemon, not the ones we know, the spoiler ones, definitely prefer Scarlet ones overall.

I'm not sure if this is also my reason, but I do also prefer the professor in Scarlet as well.

Re: Pokémon Scarlet And Violet Leaked Online Ahead Of Next Week's Launch

PMFan354

@SpaceboyScreams That's good but that's also true.

Yeah, I see a lot of complaints already about performance issues still being there. A lot of complaints on that.

But, they seem dissapointed with that and not saying the game sucks as a whole. They actually mostly seem positive and pleased enough anyway. One said the game was really bad, but most seem positive about the game overall, at the moment anyway.

I can definitely agree about performance issues, as everything I read says that too. But it is all subjective like you said as well, so be interesting to see the reviews coming soon and comments from the marjority of players after release.

If you think it's rough, that's a shame. I'm open to that being the same for me too but yeah, early footage is a good idea, but I'd rather not at the moment, so I'll wait and see what else is said by the reviewers.

I hope the comments that seem positive will be how I feel, I still think I'll have that opinion, but we'll see.

Thanks for the advise and feedback.

Re: Miyamoto Unsurprisingly Reckons The Super Mario Movie Will Be Pretty Good

PMFan354

Hope so. I like that they're putting video game references in the movie. I'm not planning to watch it then, but from the teaser it didn't look bad to me. It's not enough to form a full opinion, but could be a good movie for the target audiences.

I liked some stuff in the teaser myself.

Unlike the popular opinion, I don't think Chris Pratt's VA is bad. Although I'd like to listen to more of it first. But I do agree Mario could sound much better. But I wouldn't say he's bad at VA.

I just don't understand why they have to change all the VA's. Maybe the arguments as to why they had to are correct then. Idk.

Anyway, I'm more interested in next year's Mario game. I hope it's a new 3D Mario game and it's good.

Re: Soapbox: Paper Mario: Sticker Star Was When The Series Came Unstuck

PMFan354

Never played Sticker Star. I suppose I really enjoyed Colour Splash, apart from thing cards. Although I much prefer Paper Mario 64 and Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door.

At this point, I'm just glad I can still enjoy the new games, and that they still make Paper Mario games, but I hope they can somehow go back to the old formula. Some of it is still there, but I mean the rest of it.

I hope they will also remove those no original designs rules. Properly. And bring back partners again. Properly.

Visually everything is great still. I don't mind cardboard visuals. The music is also good. I like most of the humor too. But the older games were always a better formula.

Super Paper Mario was the same formula really, just as a platformer instead. This is half a new formula and half of the old, called "Adventure RPG".

At least I still enjoyed Colour Splash. It's still a fun game for me, despite all the changes that aren't that good.

Paper Mario 64. 10/10
Paper Mario The Thousand Year Door. 10/10
Super Paper Mario. Probably 10/10. Maybe 9/10, otherwise.
Paper Mario: Colour Splash. 7/10
Paper Mario: Origami King. That ending makes me want to lower the score, but 7/10 if I don't lower the score.

Sticker Star. I don't even want to play it after what I've been told about it, and I mean offline, not the internet in this case.

That's not why I skipped it then, but that's why I'm happy to skip it now.

Re: Pokémon Scarlet And Violet Leaked Online Ahead Of Next Week's Launch

PMFan354

@SpaceboyScreams Some other leakers are saying it's good though? They say there are still performance issues, which they don't like, but they seem to still enjoy it overall?

They also say the story is good. Without any spoiler, do you think the story is good? Is it better than Sword? As I didn't like Sword's writing much.

Oh, but apparently customisation is limited, do you feel that is true?

I'm not saying it is good or isn't good, just what I've been reading and seeing. But they seemed positive overall.
