Re: Soapbox: What Do You Do When Nintendo Ticks Off Your ENTIRE Most-Wanted List?

Nintoz

Great article as always Kate!
Pffft my most wanted list:
1. Still holding out for an F-Zero GX remaster. I'd be more than satisfied with a new entry don't get me wrong but something about the pure attitude of that era is something that's difficult to recreate. Look at Mario Strikers Charged and Battle League, both have their charm but the former pushes the boundaries a bit more.

2. A completely new Star Fox; ideally one that's not a remake of the OG or 64. If that means getting a bit experimental, so be it!

3. An ARMS sequel, if 1-2 Switch can get a second chance then SURELY this can!

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (September 23rd)

Paper Mario: The Origami King
Pokémon X and maybe some
WarioWare: Smooth Moves

Yesterday evening I did actually play some New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe! I guess we're just all in the mood right now. Never really felt that motivated to complete it but I'm hoping to put some decent time into it before Wonder comes along!

Re: Review: F-Zero 99 - A Brilliant Battle-Royale Revival That Plays To The Series' Strengths

Nintoz

9/10 for me too, it's a brilliant little game!
Runs great, feels great and is designed in such a way that (as many have pointed out) makes it enticing to return to again and again!

It's exhilerating as always and in the grand scheme of things: this is a pretty big step forward for the franchise.
Obviously not visually but for this to appear out of nowhere for the first time in 20 years to a generally positive reception...it's exciting!

Still waiting on that GX remaster though😉

Re: Poll: What Did You Think Of The Nintendo Direct, Then?

Nintoz

I think this direct was pretty decent in the context they're slowing down momentum on Switch to invest resources into Switch 2 development.
I'd rather have great remakes/remasters for now as opposed to half-baked, bottom of the barrel efforts.

My personal highlights were:
Mario Kart Wave 6 with the suprising number of characters
Paper Mario Thousand Year Door. Can't wait to experience this for the first time
F-Zero 99. If you haven't tried it out yet, give it a chance it's very fun and has plenty of unlockables to obtain.

Re: Mario Kart 8 Deluxe Wave 6 Brings Back Four Returning Characters This Winter

Nintoz

Wow they went all out on the characters this is incredible!!
I think, Daisy Circuit is an odd pick though I wonder what that means for the rest of the wave. It's never as plain sailing as we think it is😂
Hopefully it will pre-December

Edit: Just rewatched the trailer and Funky Kong retains his old voice lines! I have a huge grin on my face right now.

Re: Working On F-Zero GX Taught Producer Toshihiro Nagoshi How To "Satisfy A Fanbase"

Nintoz

God what I would give for this series to be revived.
The potential it has for online multiplayer, heck, even the story mode which in itself is enough to set it apart from Mario Kart (if that's what Nintendo's worried about??)

Hopefully there will be interest for it in the future, but by the sounds of this, we're not going to be seeing a remaster any time soon.

Re: Mario Kart Tour Gets Chilly In The Upcoming 'Sundae Tour' Update

Nintoz

@Gryffin Depends what things bother you really.
The controls and speed of the game are my two gripes with it. It's a shame after all this time we never got bluetooth controller support but to be fair, it's not too suprising.

Obtaining characters/karts/gliders (particularly more 'high-end' ones) is a lot fairer than it was originally. There's a shop to buy the specific character/kart/glider you desire. While they do cost quite a lot of rubies (in-game currency,) it's a big step up from relying wholly on a lucky dip!
Balloon battle was also added to the game last year.

Despite this though, I've found it harder and harder to return to Tour.
And that's down to the Booster Course Pass.
The DLC including all of the cities (in their complete forms), tour originals and a wealth of returning tracks leaves MK8D truly eclipsing it in many ways.
Certainly by the time Wave 4 and 5 rolled around, I found myself returning to tour less and less as there was already a good chunk of it on Switch to enjoy at any time with a much better control scheme.
That feeling might change once the DLC has finished and excitement has died down but we'll see.

If you haven't played it since 2019/2020 then it's probably worth a visit or two just to see what's been added/fixed since!
