I've uninstalled Mario Kart Tour but I really enjoyed this track, and hoped it would make it to Wave 6 of the Booster Course Pass.
To be fair though, if it was a toss-up between this and Piranha Plant Cove... I'd probably still go for the latter with it being the most thematically different (we already had Piranha Plant Pipeway after all!)
It's a beautiful system, whenever I walk past it I can't help but admire it for a few seconds. Or, if I feel so inclined, snap one of the joy-cons off and on.
I think what I enjoy most about it (from a physical hardware perspective) is how it feels more like a single unit rather than a tablet with two somewhat fiddly grips attached to it. Maybe the colouring helps but it feels much more like a piece of tech than a toy if that makes sense.
It should really be 2 courses and 1 route to pick from. I know the routes are one of the selling points of the game but in this instance people are picking VS. Race not Knockout Tour and so are clearly after a more traditional Mario Kart experience. There are quite a few routes that I like but I think it's a massive oversight that you can't pick a room for one or the other.
Of course we've seen with games like Super Mario Party Jamboree that having too many online filters can ruin matchmaking but honestly the player base of Mario Kart would handle another one just fine.
I've been remaining optimistic for this game and while I was initially pleased with the £16.99 price, it does place a question mark over the amount of content and replayability the game has.
I'll probably end up spending that money on Kirby instead
The next Animal Crossing I think will benefit greatly from the GameChat feature. It would be like Wii Speak all over again!
Another thought is whether they could pull off something a bit like Project Milo from E3 2009 with the Kinect and have your villagers respond to things you might say (within certain limits of course) and generate responses based off key words.
I do think some people forget that simply driving around wherever you want is really appealing to a good number of people.
I showed the free roam mode to my mum the other day, and she had a lovely time just driving round and taking in the sights. Couldn't give a hoot about any sort of 'mission' to complete.
But for me, while I do like it and think the missions, coins and panels themselves are fine, it's the incentive to do them that's the problem. Stickers...really??
I go through them all, get any trophy type, then go through them again and see if I can improve. Much less tedious than grinding on the same one over and over, for me at least.
A Splatoon spin-off was bound to come sooner or later. I always imagined what a Splatoon 2D platformer for the 3DS would look like but then again god forbid we need another one of those.
Excited to see what it has to offer, no date though strangely
Just found out there's a setting which only turns on HDR for compatible games instead of forcing it on at all times. I don't know how much this improves the battery but it might be worth a test!
Battery life feels alright to me but this is coming from someone who stuck by their 2017 Switch all this time.
I'd say the two things I love most about it is the weight of it (still pretty light) and the quality of the screen. I'm sure OLED would have been lovely but this is still really nice.
As for Switch 1 games that haven't been upgraded, I've only tried Mario Wonder and it look a bit better than I was expecting but obviously it's a little blurry especially when you've just hopped off Mario Kart World!
As someone who stuck with their 2017 Switch all this time, I am very excited to finally upgrade!
I'm not sure what I'll do with it yet, on one hand selling it will mean I've got more to spend on Switch 2 stuff™️. But the Nintendo-history fan within me also wants to preserve it for the memories, nostalgia etc.
Also I imagine the resell price of the Switch in the short term will come down quite a bit, so all the more reason to keep hold of it for now!
I don't know if it was just the particular machines I used, but trying to choose your character in the GP games was the slipperiest thing I've ever tried to control!
I remember vividly trying to nudge the wheel slightly to Pac-Man and the game went "NOPE, you're getting Baby Mario on the other side of the roster!"
Play around with Mario Kart World but also experiment with Switch 1 games.
Both those that have been upgraded and those that haven't, I'm sure the latter will look just fine but it'll be interesting to see just how much of a difference there is between the two.
"Sorry I can't make it to the meeting next week... I'm afraid it clashes with the Super Mario Party Jamboree - Nintendo Switch 2 Edition + Jamboree TV Overview Trailer"
Glad they clarified this though as the amount of finger-pointing at Nintendo from various like-hungry content creators for all the wrong reasons has been incredibly annoying.

Re: Miyamoto Views Games As 'Products', Not 'Works Of Art', Says Ex-Nintendo Dev
Of course this is one man's opinion, a senior figure most definitely but shouldn't be taken as the Nintendo gospel.
Look around EPD and all its managers: Aonuma, Tezuka, Koizumi, Yabuki etc. I would be very surprised if they all shared the same sentiment.

Re: Of Course Mario Kart World Is Being Review Bombed
Immaturity at its finest.
Honestly a better way of sending a message is to just not play the VS. mode online and let Nintendo watch the numbers fall.
Re: Poll: What's Your Switch (2) Game Of The Year So Far?
Mario Kart World
The more I play it, the more I love it. Such a beautiful game!

@DwaynesGames It's not!
Get ready for **deep breath** Kirby and the Forgotten Land: Nintendo Switch 2 Edition + Star Crossed World 😜
Re: Nintendo Confirms The Release Date For Drag X Drive On Switch 2
Oh! Genuinely thought this was going to be a retail release but no! I guess I just missed that information.
Ok then, I'll be interested to see how it's priced...

@Michael0916 Fair point, forgot about mirror mode tbh.
Gotta get on that.

Re: What Review Score Would You Give Mario Kart World?
9/10
Could just use a few QoL improvements particuarly with VS Mode and Online but otherwise an amazing labour of love

Re: Review: Mario Kart World (Switch 2) - The Perfect Introduction To A New Console Generation
Some QoL improvements especially with the online modes would boost this to a 10/10.
Still an incredible game!

Maybe that comes with the day 1 update.
Re: Opinion: Upgraded For Switch 2, ARMS Deserves A Second Shot At Greatness
@AG_Awesome This is my only real concern for Switch 2, hopefully the quality of the new screen will outweigh the resolution if they're still in 720p
Re: Rumour: New Datamine Suggests Nintendo Isn't Done With Mario Kart's Mobile Entry Just Yet
Perhaps, they're pulling a 'Pocket Camp - Complete Edition' although now would be a weird time to do it.

Again, no issue for me in the UK although I was doing it through My Nintendo through an invite and not through a retailer.

@RobTheIII 'Nintendo Nottingham' perhaps.
