Nintendo Life turns 18

Wow. Today marks eighteen years since the first post on Nintendo Life, and by any measurement, that is a long time. The site is officially all grown up and will likely celebrate down the pub with a beer tonight with its best friends Push Square, Pure Xbox, and Time Extension.

Whether you've discovered the site recently or you've been around since the good 'ol days of Revolution Wii, I hope you've found some enjoyment in the content we've created so far. As a team, we still serve the same principles I set out when first creating Nintendo Life, and that is to simply inform and entertain.

Thank you for visiting, thank you for reading, and thank you for interacting. Without an engaged audience, this site wouldn't have reached 18 years old; you are our lifeblood.

Thanks also to our amazing team, Gavin, Alana, Ollie, Jim, Liam, Gemma, PJ, and Ryan on the website and the infamous Alex, Zion, and Felix on YouTube. We've also had a host of amazing contributors in recent years, and the extended Nintendo Life family continues to grow.

What's Next?

We're approaching what feels like the end of the road for the OG Switch, with plenty of credible rumours pointing to a refreshed/upgraded Nintendo console in 2024. Logic suggests we will indeed simply see a 'Switch 2' device rather than something totally different, but with Nintendo, you never know.

Switch has been a blowout success coming off the back of Wii U, and, in my opinion, there has never been a better software selection for a single device than Switch.

As for the state of the games industry, it's clear things are a little turbulent at the moment, with studios laying off waves of staff. Games media has also had its share of issues and is far more competitive than when Nintendo Life was first launched.

Looking forward, we're fast approaching a crossroads where AI-generated content will be offered up as an alternative to our human-authored content. It'll be up to us to continue to provide great content and for readers to decide which they want to consume.

If you want to support the work we humans do then simply continue to read, share, and enjoy our content. It's not rocket science to understand that our business is sustained by the adverts you see on the site and earlier this year we also added a supporter scheme that gives you the option of ad-free browsing, something loyal readers have requested for a number of years. Supporters also get ad-free browsing across all Hookshot sites.

Thank you to all of those who have signed up as a Nintendo Life Supporter so far. To celebrate our 18th birthday we're having a one-week sale where you can get our ad-free programme with a 5% discount, so why not support Nintendo Life and join today?

Before our 19th birthday rolls around we should already know the final form of the inevitable Switch successor, it should be an exciting year ahead!

So, however you want to celebrate this milestone moment, either by buying us a beer, becoming a Supporter, or simply spreading the word, thank you again for reading and being part of our Nintendo Life.
