I purchased my last 2 vouchers for Z-A and Prime 4. Would have maybe gone with physical instead if I knew the file size in advance but I guess large file sizes is the new norm. It's not like I can fit everything in the first place.
The best deal for the console in Finland is -8% off for the Mario Kart bundle and it's still more expensive than what I paid when I preordered mine from Nintendo.
Not surprised that there's a Capcom Picross but SNK Picross caught me off guard. I'm getting both but starting with SNK. Surely Square Enix is next? Or at least a re-release of Pictlogica Final Fantasy since I've never had a chance to play it?
Nice surprise. I can see all my 3DS stats, including the ones my device deleted due to Activity Log's limitations.
EDIT: I have Mario Kart 7 at 30 hours played but then it appears again later in the list, this time it shows: first played 2017 and played for little while.
Bit sad the data is only up to 2020 for 3DS and Wii U. I've used my 3DS a plenty the last 5 years too. Would've also been nice if it showed DS games played on 3DS.
This is the kind of article I like (aside from the headline which almost made me skip it). My favorite piece of art out of the ones shown here is the one depicting characters from Fire Emblem: Genealogy of the Holy War. I like how it's laid out and colored. I wonder if they ever got to play it or if they were just hyped for it thanks to Nintendo Power's preview, only to realize it's not leaving Japan. Maybe they're still waiting for official translation or remake.
Full focus on Pokémon Legends: Z-A. Loving it so far. I just unlocked Mega Evolution. Catching Pokémon is as fun as ever and I like the discovery aspect of the new battle system.
I'd definitely prefer if there were some voice acting. I didn't care back in 3DS era but nowadays it just looks silly. You start a new game, the first bit of dialogue comes and... nothing. Not a single sound. There's this void that needs filling.
You get used to it pretty fast but the initial shock leaves bad impression.
@Lord What do you mean? As far as I can tell, Pokémon Legends: Arceus was the second most successful launch in Nintendo Switch history in Japan back when it launched, selling almost 1.5 million copies in its first week.
@bosh I have to ask what you consider as the mixed output. If you say Smash and Kirby are mostly great things, what's even left? Do we base his entire career on Meteos or something? Just curious.
I don't think anyone's actually worshipping him. It's more of a meme. Smash reveals get bit out of hand sometimes.
As for Sakurai himself, he just seems like a person who really cares about his job and tries his best to make games everyone can enjoy while also teaching others so they can do the same. He's humble and constantly reminds people that game development is a team effort.
@LoroTalby Fatal Fury has interesting history. Takashi Nishiyama was the director of the original Street Fighter but he left Capcom and joined SNK where he created Fatal Fury. Terry was actually originally planned to be the main character of Street Fighter but they decided to go with Ryu instead so he reused the design in its "spiritual successor", Fatal Fury. Street Fighter II and Fatal Fury were in development at the same time and released about half a year apart. You can probably tell which one released first just based on the popularity of the two franchises.
Hollow Knight: Silksong Beginning of Act 2. I've had a small break from the game but I'm planning to go back soon.
Alba: A Wildlife Adventure Borrowed digital copy from my sister while she was visiting. About to finish it. Short and sweet. I wish the game would actually save the pictures though.
Astral Chain I played the first 10 hours back when the game came out. I decided to start over on Switch 2. Getting used to combat again.
Karaoke Joysound for Nintendo Switch I like singing. It's a fun way to practice Japanese. Also a good way to assess progress. I've come a long way since I first downloaded this app back in 2021.
I encountered a boss that took me quite a few tries yesterday. I would say that was quite a difficulty spike but I believe I took an alternate route. I probably skipped some of the easier stuff that could've prepared me more for the fight. Other than that, it's been smooth sailing so far. I'm only 5-10 hours in so the hard stuff is still ahead. It's been a while since I played Hollow Knight so it's hard to compare. All I remember is that I never beat one of the superbosses.
I don't have anything against the patch. I'm sure there are plenty of people who wouldn't enjoy the game due to its difficulty or can't even play it due to the precision needed in combat. Having difficulty options would be nice (though I don't like when a game asks you to select difficulty at the beginning when you have no point of reference) but they probably had enough work balancing the game just once for launch. Maybe they'll add an easy mode later.
@Yosher I've studied Japanese for 5 years now, every single day. I started with WaniKani (kanji), which I've since completed, and I'm currently using Bunpro (grammar). I also used Anki (vocabulary) for a year or two but didn't like it as much.
Anki is free. WaniKani and Bunpro are paid but you can at least try them out for free. My focus from the start was on reading. I'm nowadays able to enjoy manga and some light novels. I've also played and finished some games in Japanese like Fire Emblem: The Binding Blade, Days of Memories, Detective Pikachu, etc.
Learning Japanese takes time and the learning curve is quite steep but if you stick with it, it's also very rewarding.
Huge disclaimer for anyone interested in this game! I got curious since the screenshots are all in Chinese while the Indie World trailer was of course in Japanese. The US release only supports Chinese like the Steam version from couple of years ago. If you want to play it in Japanese, like I would, you have to purchase it from Japanese eShop. Japanese version doesn't support Chinese either.
This decision honestly makes me less interested in it. The pricing already scared me off when I saw it last month. The game looks interesting but I'm not sure how I'd fare despite knowing 2000+ kanji. I wish they at least provided a demo.
Pokémon Ultra Sun
Made it to Poni Island. I've also been revisiting earlier islands in search of Pokémon I'd missed. Encountered shiny Mareep while looking for a Miltank. It's Ampharos now.
Playing this game has reignited my love for Pokémon. Alola is really well designed region, one of my favorites. It also introduced bunch of awesome Pokémon that really fit the theme.
Donkey Kong Bananza
Haven't played much lately but made some progress today. I'll be in the thousands soon.
Taking a small break from UFO 50. Might play some GC games now that Chibi-Robo is out. My nephew discovered Super Mario Strikers while browsing my games. He likes it and would like to play the other stages as well so I'll try to unlock them before we next meet.
I'm always surprised by the sheer amount of negativity in the comments nowadays. I'm personally looking forwards to this game. I'm glad they've found their way to experiment with the franchise. I didn't like combat in Arceus but this looks like something my younger self dreamed of back in the day. I hope it works well.
I am kind of wary of the city aspect of this game, though not for the same reason as most people. I generally don't enjoy big cities in Pokémon. They are a pain to run through when they have about as much to do as small towns and the rest is just filled with emptiness and random NPCs with couple lines of infinitely repeating dialogue. Mesagoza was the worst city yet with its million identical sandwich places. That said, I really liked Jubilife Village in Arceus. There was always something new to do. If Lumiose takes some pointers from it, then I have no problem. And I wouldn't mind it if most buildings only allowed you to access the first floor despite them being skyscrapers. Multiple floor buildings are confusing and I don't want to sit through constant elevator animations just to access another area.
I guess I ended up being a bit negative myself but I see this as the chance to explore new ideas and improve on things. I've said it before and I'll say it again, people were hating on Arceus before it came out and it turned out to be a breath of fresh air that many came to like. I'd rather believe they can do it again than diss on it beforehand.
I like the new virtual card system. I get to switch games with my sister whenever I see her. This is the one I'm lending right now. I'm halfway through the story. Fun game.

I tried the Global Jam. It was better than I expected. I liked the rumble feedback you get from spinning the wheels. The game also controlled fine in my opinion. The visuals didn't bother me once I was actually playing the game. Ramming into people to get the ball didn't feel as good and felt finicky at times.
All in all, it's pretty much just slower paced Rocket League with unique control scheme. Not something I'm looking for but I don't think it's as bad as people make it out to be.
This game stood out with its cute visuals. At first I thought it was from the development team behind Snipperclips but apparently not. I might have picked it up if I weren't already playing too many games, like Bananza and UFO 50.
UFO 50 Bought it the moment it dropped. Loving it so far. I've spent 5 hours on Bug Hunter alone. It's so addicting.
Donkey Kong Bananza Slowly making my way through layer 600. I don't fully know how I feel about the game yet. I like playing it when I do but I don't feel the need to actually boot it up.
Simply moving in the game is the best part so far. The dialogue you get when you sleep at getaways is a nice touch. Whoever voiced Pauline did a great job.

Only 6% voted for something new. I thought people were tired of ports and remakes.
I know it's harder to wish for something that doesn't exist in the first place and most people won't use one of their votes for the obvious. I just thought it was funny.
I was avid user of vouchers and gold coins. Sad to see them gone. Vouchers were a great way to get a discount at launch. I may end up making less digital purchases due to this.
I personally think the art in Europe and Japan is different enough that they should be separate options. I prefer Japan's. Better composition, more varied character selection and an actual background instead of just white void.
EDIT: I know basically nothing about RE, so correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm fairly certain that none of the boxes feature two pictures of Leon. The other character is Steve Burnside.
Not surprised. Most launch titles have already been available for a long time on other consoles and PC. Your average person will probably just get Mario Kart and maybe one other game at launch.
I got Fast Fusion and will pick up Split Fiction next month when I have someone to play with. I have some interest in Yakuza and Hitman, I've not touched either series, but I'm in no hurry to buy them. I have enough to play as is.
I had horrible drift with my first 2 pairs, one that came with the system and another I bought soon after, but the third pair I bought couple years later has worked like a charm. My sister has had similar experience.
Anyway, I don't think this tells us anything. Wait and see. Don't get angry before there is a reason to get angry.
Not terribly excited so far but it could also be because I won't be able to play much until a week after. I wasn't necessarily planning to buy one at launch but I got an invite from Nintendo and it's way cheaper to buy it from them directly than from stores here. I was always going to buy one eventually so might as well make it the first console I get at launch.
@PikminMarioKirby Legends: Arceus looked pretty rough when it was first shown but it turned out to be my favorite experience with the Pokémon franchise in years. I'll give them the benefit of the doubt here.
@Anakin Or maybe I already pay for the family plan, own the GC controller + adapter and was going to get Switch 2 regardless so the GC games are simply a nice extra. Hi, I'm the crazy Nintendo fan.
I seriously doubt anyone here is buying the system just so they can play GC games.
EDIT: I won't bother replying since your messages got deleted but I never said anything about the new GC controller. You do know about the adapter from Wii U era, right?
@Anakin I don't really see any more excitement compared to any other new console introduced to NSO. It does provide some features that the real hardware lacks, namely improved resolution, portability and online play.
I haven't ended up with any code in a box titles so far. 80% of my Switch games are digital and I don't need an empty box for them. As for key card games, I don't see myself buying them unless there's a massive discount for some game I'd like that doesn't receive the same treatment on eShop.

Re: First Impressions: Pokémon Legends: Z-A Is An Attempt To Catch The Hardcore Again
