My DS Lite is at my parent's place. Or I guess it's technically my sister's Lite since I gave it to her back when I got a 3DS. It hasn't seen any use in a decade since my sister also has a 3DS and a Switch.
I was scrolling through the choices, nothing was really jumping out, and then I was reminded Veluza is in this generation. I don't know what it is about that fish but I really like it.
Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade Finished the game about an hour ago. There were some slower moments in the last few chapters but the final set of bosses was fun. I did most of the side content but the logs show that there's still more. I think I'm good. I'll play INTERmission but maybe a bit closer to June when Rebirth comes out.
Final Fantasy VII At the entrance to Shinra building. I'll play it up to the ending of Remake and leave it there for now.
Rhythm Paradise/Heaven Finished the game last week. 37 superbs, 14 perfects. I want to at least get all superbs.
The Messenger Started this morning. First couple of stages done. Movement is smooth. I like the extra jump from hitting stuff. Shopkeeper seems like a nice guy. Has fun stories to tell.
I haven't bothered watching the last few presentations since they tend to be very underwhelming. They consist mostly of small updates that didn't need a dedicated presentation. One new game is all I'm asking for.
I personally think Gen 7 had the strongest theming and Pokémon designs. So many great ones to choose from but I got to go with the cutest Pokémon in the entire dex, Steenee.
Gen 4 has some really strong designs. My current favorite is Froslass. I really liked the new Mega design too. I was hoping to catch an alpha because even the regular size Mega is already so tall but every time I came across an alpha Snorunt, it was a male.
There are multiple I could pick but I chose Tentacruel. I grew fond of it more recently (as in within last 10 years). I had it in my E4 team in my latest Heart Gold playthrough and even stumbled upon a shiny one on my Japanese Gold cartridge. My actual favorites are in Gen 2.
Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade Just started Chapter 14. Time to save Aerith. Thoroughly enjoyable experience so far. Good to know I don't have to wait long for Rebirth.
Final Fantasy VII Haven't made progress since last week's update. I'm bit behind compared to Remake but I'll probably catch up in one session again.
Animal Crossing: New Horizons Mabel & Sable are now on the island. Got the second room for my house as well. Waiting for spring so that there are more bugs to catch.
Buddy Mission Bond In Chapter 3. In jail, getting tortured. Not what I expected from this game based on the first two chapters.
Rhythm Paradise/Heaven I've played the first third of this game back in the day when I got it for my sister. I picked up a copy for myself later down the line but never touched it. I suddenly got into the mood to play it. I just did Remix 4. I have 5 or 6 perfects so far. Fun game but scoring can be brutal at times.
The amount of actual new reveals was nice, even if they weren't the most earth-shattering. Pacing was good. Final announcement wasn't for me. I'm sure they're saving some stuff for the general Direct that will probably follow soon enough. Still hoping for Kingdom Hearts.
I am most interested in the following:
Culdcept Begins (I loved Revolt)
Super Bomberman Collection (not in a hurry to pick it up but will be fun with friends)
Paranormasight: The Mermaid's Curse (I somehow missed the first one but it looks like something I'd like)
Final Fantasy VII Rebirth (all I wanted was a date so I'm glad they didn't spend much time on it)
The first game flew under my radar. I think I've seen its thumbnail on eShop couple of times but never took a closer look or maybe confused it with another game. Looks interesting. I may pick up the original since it's on sale, though I'm currently playing another visual novel, Buddy Mission Bond, alongside my main focus of FF7 Remake so I don't think I can fit it in my current schedule.
@NintendoWife You can play on both. Contents are identical between physical and digital version.
Also, found the source. It's the same source that is sited on this very article, Nintendo's own website. It states the following: "Packaged versions of Nintendo Switch 2 Edition software are included in Nintendo Switch 2 software sales units, and downloadable versions are included in Nintendo Switch software sales units."
@NintendoWife I did add the "at least" because he didn't mention his source in said post. He is a journalist so my guess is that it comes from Nintendo in some shape or form. He has an account on Nintendo Life so you can always ask him.
If you go to Legends Z-A's or Metroid Prime 4's eShop page, they are shown as sort of a bundle consisting of Switch version and upgrade pack. It's silly but I could see it being counted as Switch 1 purchase following aforementioned logic.
I bought mine digitally so it would be counted as Switch 1 sale which does make some sense, especially since I bought mine with a voucher and upgraded separately.
I got the Variety Kit out of curiosity. I was more interested in the building aspect and left playing for my niece. I would've liked to make stuff with Toy-Con Garage but found it too limiting. I recently discovered some plans I had for games before the kit was even out.
The game and accessories are at my childhood home which is closer to the people who actually get usage out of them. The latest play session was about a year ago, at least on my account.
Watched the trailer before reading the article. Immediately recognized the narrator. Minish Cap is my favorite 2D Zelda game. Anything that looks and plays like it will get my attention.
Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade At the entrance to Wall Market. Didn't like the slow crane puzzle that came before it. Such simple puzzle and yet it took so long due to slow animations. First nitpick in otherwise awesome game. I've been taking lot of screenshots lately.
Final Fantasy VII Threatened to chop, rip and smash it. So just a little bit further than in the remake. I've never played FF7 but was familiar with the scene with bunch of muscular dudes. It still managed to surprise me as I'd forgotten about it. This whole section was certainly interesting.
Animal Crossing: New Horizons Isabelle is now on the island so I got to make a new town tune. I don't remember what I had in my original save file, probably some Nintendo tune or something, but this time I have the beginning of Ado's song 心という名の不可解.
Buddy Mission Bond I got this game back in 2022 when it was the NSO trial game for Japan. I played the first couple of chapters back then and liked it but my Japanese wasn't quite good enough to fully enjoy it. I decided it's now time to return to it and started from the very beginning. I've only just finished the first chapter.
It's a shame Nintendo never brought Buddy Mission Bond to west. I feel like it would've found an audience in people who like games like Ace Attorney and Jake Hunter. Though I guess their audience isn't the largest either.
I bought the 3DS game at launch but was hugely disappointed. It's just not my kind of game. Happy for everyone else. The amount of customization looks neat.
Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade First time playing the remake. I'm in chapter 8, maybe? Cloud just fell quite a distance without a scratch to show. Really enjoying it so far. Looks and plays great.
Final Fantasy VII Yet to experience the original so I'm playing the two side-by-side. Well, technically I've played the first hour or two on Steam but I think I'm already further than I've ever been. Basically at the same spot where I am in the remake but with 5-6 hours less time on the clock.
Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance Crossed the bridge back to Crimea. Lost my first unit, Devdan, thanks to a trap. I certainly had a chance to save him if I'd done things differently but I thought he'd survive. Turns out they dealt just enough damage to kill him. This was the first time I put him on the field, just to try him out. Not a huge loss but I guess I won't have a clean record after all.
Animal Crossing: New Horizons I didn't plan to ever revisit New Horizons but here we are. I played for 3 months at launch but haven't touched it since. I started a new island on Switch 2 earlier this week. Plan is to play just a little bit every day until I get tired of the current season and then hopefully come back when next season starts so there's more things to collect. I mainly want to fill the museum and see the new content they've added since launch.
@Joe11 That's what all the text is for. Reviews are more than just numbers. If one game has a score of 8 and another has 9, it doesn't mean you'll automatically enjoy the one with the better score more.
I finished the game today. It had its moments but on the whole, it was kind of dull. Level design made me feel like I was playing Ocarina of Time instead of Metroid Prime at times. Flavor text was quite flavorless. Anything that didn't add a log entry might as well not be there. Psychic abilities and upgrades as whole were pretty good but underutilized. I personally didn't mind the NPCs. Not in a hurry to play again on hard, if ever.
Metroid Prime 4: Beyond Running around gathering items before rolling credits.
Encountered a minor glitch today. I got hit just as I was going down an elevator into a shrine and the game didn't like that. The cutscene decided to show me the skybox outside the shrine instead of Samus as she's descending. I think either Samus or just the camera was out of bounds. Fixed itself right afterwards though.
Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance Just finished Chapter 18. Great game so far. I like being able to class change via levels. Haven't had much of a challenge yet. May need to replay on Hard someday.
Metroid Prime 4: Beyond Finished "Death Mountain". The game feels more like Zelda than Metroid at times.
Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance First time playing this game and I'm instantly hooked. Already in chapter 10. I finally get to truly know these characters I've encountered in other games (Smash, FE Heroes, FE Cipher).
I might also check out Z-A's online multiplayer for the first time now that I've beaten the game and a new event just started. I still need to catch couple more Pokémon too.
I've never had a chance to play Path of Radiance. I know quite a lot about it though, thanks to FE Cipher. I started yesterday and I'm already quite a few chapters in. Really liking it so far.
@Yoshi3 FE has much more going on than just the weapon triangle, which doesn't even appear in every FE game. Using similar logic, I can say that FE is more strategic because it has more unit types (aka classes). Advance Wars units are all identical while FE units have different stats, skills, promotion options, supports and weapons. There are other weapon types besides the sword-lance-axe triangle. There are bows, daggers, staves, tomes, etc. They each can also be made of different materials (iron, steel, etc.) and have different properties (killer, breaker, brave, etc.)
I'm a fan of both series. They are very different from one another. I can see why one would prefer one over the other, or even love one and hate the other, but as far as the strategy goes, neither is all that complex. Both games have similar problems where the battles can get really slow and boring. Spam units in AW until you finally win or use your one slightly better unit in FE to lure foes one-by-one so you can get to the boss. I tend to prefer the first half of the game in both series when the maps are more compact.
Tried it. Looks and plays nice on TV. Didn't try handheld even though that's usually my preferred playstyle.
I've played the original a number of times but never got past the first couple of hours. I was thinking I could try playing the two side-by-side, alternating between them. 50€ for both seems like a good deal to me.
Pokémon Legends: Z-A Finished the main story. I liked the ending. It did some things that are pretty rare by Pokémon standards. I'm pretty close to 100%. I'll keep playing as long as it can keep my interest.
PICROSS S SNK CLASSICS & NEOGEO edition Last 50 or so Mega Picross left. Already finished all the other modes.
Haven't touched Metroid Prime 4 since last week. I'll focus on it on my vacation.
I'm seeing friends tomorrow so it's time for bunch of multiplayer games. We usually start with Smash and go from there. Probably some Mario Kart since some of them haven't touched a Switch 2 yet.
I considered picking up one of the Pikmin blind boxes when I went to Japan last year. Bought some other stuff instead. Glad to see them available outside of Japan as well, though they seem to be more expensive here. Most blind boxes were around 1000 yen (~6€).
Metroid Prime 4: Beyond Got my driver's license. Some of the vistas are gorgeous. I've taken plenty of screenshots. The new beam weapon is interesting too. I like how it's utilized in puzzles and combat.
Pokémon Legends: Z-A Rank B. Finished the latest set of 3 rogues. Pokédex is filling up nicely. Not much left.
I've said it before and I'll say it again, this game has the best catching mechanics to date. It also made me actually care about battles for the first time in years. There's this sense of discovery that elevates it a ton. I like how side quests teach you strategies (even though they are often obvious) and reward you with battle items.
There are things that certainly could be improved, for example, the lack of voice acting is weird for the first hour or so, but I don't think this game deserved the hate it got before it even hit the stores.
PICROSS S SNK CLASSICS & NEOGEO edition Picross: 130/150 Mega Picross: 30/150 Color Picross: 20/30 Clip Picross: 3/5 Time Attack: 15/30 Extra: 5/5 Play Time: 12 hours
It's Picross. I have some nitpicks though.
I don't like how Time Attack forces you to use line hints. I play with all assist functions off so the different shades of blue just slow me down when I need to double check if the row is done or not.
Clip Picross is a waste of time. Partial images just aren't as interesting. You'll need to solve 40 for a single image that you'll recognize after the first few puzzles as they are just key art that has been converted into pixel art. The same key art that is sometimes shown in the background while solving said puzzles. Most puzzles are just mindless busywork, some of which take less time to solve than it takes to exit out of the puzzle and move onto the next one.
Music selection could be better. I find some of the tracks annoying so I stick to certain ones. It just comes down to tastes.
And then there's the biggest crime of all... They spelled Mamahaha wrong. 😱
I purchased my last 2 vouchers for Z-A and Prime 4. Would have maybe gone with physical instead if I knew the file size in advance but I guess large file sizes is the new norm. It's not like I can fit everything in the first place.
The best deal for the console in Finland is -8% off for the Mario Kart bundle and it's still more expensive than what I paid when I preordered mine from Nintendo.

Re: Here's A Look At The Best-Selling Switch And Switch 2 Games So Far
Worth noting that at least according to Serebii, Switch 2 Edition sales are counted in a weird way.
Switch 1 = Switch 1
Switch 2 Digital = Switch 1
Switch 2 Physical = Switch 2
Switch 2 Upgrade = Not counted
I bought mine digitally so it would be counted as Switch 1 sale which does make some sense, especially since I bought mine with a voucher and upgraded separately.

I considered picking up one of the Pikmin blind boxes when I went to Japan last year. Bought some other stuff instead. Glad to see them available outside of Japan as well, though they seem to be more expensive here. Most blind boxes were around 1000 yen (~6€).

Reminds me of this image.

Metroid Prime 4: Beyond
Got my driver's license. Some of the vistas are gorgeous. I've taken plenty of screenshots. The new beam weapon is interesting too. I like how it's utilized in puzzles and combat.
Pokémon Legends: Z-A
Rank B.
PICROSS S SNK CLASSICS & NEOGEO edition
Picross: 130/150
Mega Picross: 30/150
Color Picross: 20/30
Clip Picross: 3/5
Time Attack: 15/30
Extra: 5/5
Play Time: 12 hours
Re: Round Up: Every Switch And Switch 2 Announcement From The PC Gaming Show: Most Wanted 2025
I hope Carmageddon is good. Carmageddon 2 is one of my childhood games.
Re: Reminder: Metroid Prime 4: Beyond Is Available With A Switch Game Voucher
I purchased my last 2 vouchers for Z-A and Prime 4. Would have maybe gone with physical instead if I knew the file size in advance but I guess large file sizes is the new norm. It's not like I can fit everything in the first place.
Re: Switch 2 Black Friday Deals Are A Bit 'Meh', But Here Are The Best We've Seen
The best deal for the console in Finland is -8% off for the Mario Kart bundle and it's still more expensive than what I paid when I preordered mine from Nintendo.
