Switch 2 Black Friday Deals Are A Bit 'Meh', But Here Are The Best We've Seen

It’s not so much games I’m looking at. I was hoping for micro SD-EX cards to get a bit more off them than has been shown, but I might be able to spread it out a little - £32 a month doesn’t sting nearly as much as £169 all in one go.

Plus, I’ve been good enough to squeeze in Hades 2 just before payday - my very first physical NS2 card.

For the US, this seems more like a clearance sale lol (outside of Hogwarts Legacy and Star Wars). A slew of games that either no one cares about or are some of the worst GKC offenders.

Hardware deals arent needed given how new and in demand it is, but since a lot of releases are ports, I think thats where you'll find some good stuff. Star Wars Outlaws at $30 is a steal, and thats from someone who put in 60-70 hours into the Switch 2 version.

I understand Game Key Cards arent everyones cup of tea and will be a deal breaker for some.

Still holding out hope for a Cyberpunk physical deal on Black Friday!

While not a Switch 2 title, I was able to pick up Paper Mario The Thousand Year Door for $30 at BestBuy.

I was genuinely surprised when I saw how low the game prices so low so early in this console's life.

Then I realized the one thing that, save Story of Seasons, all of these games have in common. They're all game key cards, or worse, download codes.

I mean, a deal's a deal, I'm not at all saying not to buy these. I honestly might. But, nudge nudge, might show how game key cards aren't exactly flying off of shelves, especially at full price.

It's such a surprise that Nintendo sales aren't impressive!

@HotGoomba It's also, y'know, mostly Sega, Ubisoft, WB, and sports games which are all pretty well known for cratering in price quickly, especially given a few of them are years-old ports anyway. The game key card thing probably isn't related.

As for the EA Sports prices, seeing those games get cut to over 50% off in not even half a year is strange, but I don't know why for certain, and honestly, I don't think I care all that much.

Very previously had the Switch 2 for £409 with MKW plus an extra 10% off if you took.it on credit so £368.10. Cheaper if you promise to pay within 12 months than straight away.

Console sales are usually not that impressive and few and far between (especially for Nintendo)

Interesting. Seems there are slightly better deals available for Switch 2 bundles on the continent than in the UK.

I'm not expecting any good deals this year because the console is just too new. Next year is when we'll see something decent.

No Switch 2 exclusive stuff, but I've gotten 5 First-Party Nintendo games for half off from Target, and 3 of them in Donkey Kong Country Returns HD, LoZ Echoes of Wisdom, & Princess Peach Showtime weren't ones with prices Nintendo had set.

The best deal for the console in Finland is -8% off for the Mario Kart bundle and it's still more expensive than what I paid when I preordered mine from Nintendo.

Idk why anyone would expect there to be any major deals for a new Nintendo console, but okay...

In Canada, deals are absolutely brutal. SW: Outlaws only 25% off. Best deal is probably Yakuza 0 for about 33% off.

@IronMan30 I don't have data to back this claim, but more people than usual might be holding out for deals because of Nintendo's recent all-round price hike.

It is interesting that a game key cards like Madden 26 have only the game key card version reduced in price. My son wants that game and I’d prefer to buy a digital code, but the only way to get a discounted digital version ($35 instead of $30) is to buy it on the eShop which lacks proper gifting options. So I’ve reluctantly bought the discounted game key card even though I’d prefer fully digital.

It feels like the market is realizing that game key cards are the worst of other worlds, except for the use case of wanting to play and resell.

Can't say I expected any tempting Switch 2 deals this early in the console's lifespan. I waited over two years for a V2 Switch 1 deal I found agreeable.

There ARE some great Switch 1 game deals, at least in the US. Amazon US still has the Final Fantasy I-VI Pixel Remaster Collection discounted to $40 for anyone interested. And Unicorn Overlord is down to $25. Mega Man Battle Network Legacy Collection, $22.75. Princess Peach: Showtime! is down to $30 at Target instead of Nintendo's advertised $40 discount, but availability seems limited at this time. All physical.

I bought mine a week ago at the largest on-line retailer in Denmark; for what substitutes around £468.50 including a big Nacon "hard case" including screen protector plus a Nacon silicon "glove" (which is actually really good as it gives a much better grip plus it holds the Joy-Cons even tighter in place). All in all a pretty good deal imo.

The best Black Friday deal is not buying it and waiting until it actually has enough games. That applies to almost every console at release

In the world that exists outside the USA and UK there are sales. Here in Australia most large retailers have discounts on the bundle. Best I've seen is almost $100 AUD off. I've also never seen Nintendo advertised so much before here. Its on billboards everywhere.

Yup, Switch 2 is one of the top items to buy this holiday season, even as advertised by big retailers like Walmart/Best Buy/etc., so the likelihood on deals on the console is pretty close to zero.

However, games like Rune Factory Guardians of Azuma, Bravely Default, etc., have been going on sales the last few weeks. I would take a look at niche Switch 2 third party titles, various game key cards be damned!

Switch 2 isn't old like the PS5, so even £10 or £20 off is a great addition ahead of Christmas. It has already sold over 10 million units already so demand is still high at full price.

I got a good deal at launch, got it for £356.39 thanks to a 10% off code at Very. Looks like that price won’t be beaten until at least next year’s sales. There’s always a chance of better deals in the Boxing Day sales though, they’re usually pretty competitive with BF here in UK.

If you look for sales of any of the brands there isn't much besides on the PlayStation side this year tbh. And those sales are still muted vs other years with newer games or releases also.

There still are a few options in the US for joycons and pro controllers at select retailed. For Switch 2 it's been as expected or slightly better than it should be for a VERY poor Black Friday sales overall.

My issue isn't with sales honestly is still the Game Key Cards existing for games that shouldn't use them. Outlaws is a great pick up but that's probably it sadly.

Many may also point out the ongoing RAM shortage, but Nintendo has a contract signed with nVidia. They likely wouldn't feel the worst of it.

@jco83 Interesting because I work for a large UK retailer on the business planning side and for Argos and my particular company we price match Amazon and look at their adaptive pricing to inform our pricing strategy for the video game segment.

Right now we are price matching most Amazon Switch 2 games apart from Zelda titles but Argos is running a higher profit margin.

@Geit_de we probably have different ages. I purchased Switch 2 primary to make my children love Nintendo and live family moments with them and also them with their friends. That's why 4 out of five titles I bought with it are party or local co op games; Mario kart world, Kirby and the forgotten land, Mario party superstars, Luigi's mansion 3. I am really happy you found a so good deal for Hogwarts. I was searching something I could play myself alone maybe. I fall on this offer on the Nintendo eshop a took it right away cause it was too cheap in comparison to the money I spent to the other games. It's not exactly what I had in mind for a single player experience but I have heard good words for it and I will give it a chance. I'm not Harry potter fun neither

It ticks me off that there was not a Metroid Prime 4 edition console released!!
Oh Well, I guess I will hold off until a cool special...or/OLED edition is announced.

My first videogame ever was -ironically- a Nintendo handheld that my parents on a ship going to Italy for vacation; Game & Watch Panorama screen Snoopy. It was ahead from its time. It had a mirror (!) and you were watching indirectly the screen there,as you were hitting some ascending notes. I was 5 and literally stacked on it! Seems like it was fatal . Despite the fact that I skipped some consoles, from the Nintendo DS to the Switch 2 now.
