He was the first character I encountered once I left the tutorial area. It was also funny seeing him twice in a span of couple of minutes. It would be even funnier if there was an oversight where you could see him in two places at the same time when you're in the air or something. They must have thought of that and made sure it doesn't happen.
I noticed this yesterday. The sound design overall is much improved from BotW. The very beginning is really atmospheric and haunting not only due to its claustrophobic narrow hallways but the sounds and music associated with it. I also like the new sounds they've added to old enemies.
I discovered hexadecimal system by cheating in Pokémon when I was 10. I believe it was my cousin who showed me how to cheat in Pokémon Gold & Silver using GameShark.
There was this hex string that replaced the value in RAM that defined the opposing Pokémon, be it wild or trainer Pokémon. I still remember it for some reason. It was 01XXEDD0 where you'd replace the X with a value of your choosing. I started out just replacing it with random values and taking notes what would spawn when. At some point, I figured out that the numbers had some correlation with national dex numbering and soon afterwards it clicked when I discovered that going from 09 to 0A continued the dex numbering.
I was smart for my age. Or at least had the required problem solving skills to learn new stuff on my own. I learned to read at age of 5 and to write a year later. I also figured out how multiplication worked a year or two before it was taught at school by messing with a calculator on my free time. I must have reached my limit at some point. Nowadays I just feel stupid all the time.
As for the actual cheating, I had fun for a while catching some Pokémon I'd never caught before, like Celebi, but it didn't take me long to go back to playing the game like normal. It was neat but it wasn't the way I wanted to play.
Xenoblade Chronicles 3: Future Redeemed I said earlier I wouldn't play this until after I'm done with Zelda but ended up playing it day one anyways. Just entered the first town. It feels great to be back.
The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild 8 shrines and 2 memories left to find before I go and finish the game. I've had the shrine indicator off for the entire game but turned it on once I had no shrine quests or marked shrines on my map left. At that point, I had 10 left to find. The last one I visited was really well hidden. It would've taken me ages to find that, unless there was a quest for it I missed.
Pokémon Silver Picked my Japanese copy of Silver from the shelf yesterday and started a new save file. I'm not used to kana only text but it's certainly easier to read than it was when I last played it 2 years ago.
This generation of Pokémon is so nostalgic. It's packed with great memories. I can't help but smile at the smallest details. The music is so good too. Still one of my favorite games of all time, if not the absolute favorite.
The game shows its age though. Movepools are way too limited. Most Pokémon don't learn good moves until you've already beaten the first half of the game, that is if they learn any good moves in the first place. I never liked how you can't catch certain new Pokémon until you've entered Kanto. Couple of them are in the final area of the game too. You never get to use them because there's nothing left to do at that point, storywise.
One of my favorite DS games. I stumbled upon it one day while shopping. I'd played Heroes of Might & Magic 2-4 and the game was just 10€ so I picked it up. Absolutely fell in love with it. I saw the Steam version in the same store years later for 3€ and bought it again.
I don't need a third copy but I'm happy it's on Switch. A sequel would be nice.
I've been playing BotW on Wii U recently and the Wii U GamePad actually feels pretty comfortable. Too bad it's ugly and attracts finger prints. Not my favorite controller by any means but it's honestly better than I remembered.
As for an actual answer, Switch Pro Controller is probably my favorite.
It was either Final Fantasy I & II: Dawn of Souls or Final Fantasy Tactics Advance. Liked both, never beat either. I know I entered the final dungeon in FF1. Got pretty far in Tactics.
Heard a rumor last week. Now to apply for Rovio so I have a connection to Sega and possibly get to work on their franchises in the future. If I didn't already have a job I'm happy with, that is.
Both are great and I like them for different reasons. Western box art is iconic and unique. I like the level they chose for the background. I wish the blobs behind the level were Gordos though. Japanese box art would be better with different coloring, I don't really like the white background, but the adorable ability showcase was enough to win me over.
@Vyacheslav333 You failed to mention that you were specifically talking about the Switch version in your original message so that's what caused the confusion. It made it seem like you were talking about SNK games in general.
To anyone doubting this announcement due to the day it is, this was part of a trailer that showcased new KoF XV DLC, had some more info about the SamSho rollback update and also quickly teased a new Fatal Fury which they've already teased once before.
@Vyacheslav333 KoF XV has rollback and they've been updating older KoFs with rollback for a while now. '98 and 2002 on Steam feature rollback netcode. The only weird thing is that SamSho is getting rollback soon but they specifically skipped Switch version.
I have SteamWorld Tower Defense. It lacks the polish the later SteamWorld games have. It does not ease you in. Rather, it throws a long stage with hundreds of enemies at you straight out of the gate. There are certainly better games from the same genre.
I understand that people aren't happy with the eShop closing. I never stopped using my 3DS and bought new games once in a while so I would've liked it to stay longer. There's nothing that can be done now though. They closed it and that's that. Nothing lasts forever.
First one was the original black model which I bought ~6 months after the system's launch. I gave it to my sister once I upgraded to my second one but she has also upgraded since so now it's basically just a backup.
My second 3DS was a blue Pokémon X & Y themed XL. I always had my 3DS in my pocket anytime I left house. After ~5 years, the hinge got worn and I discovered a crack so I wanted to fix it before it gave up completely. Finland has awful repair service and it would've cost half the price of a new system just to replace the hinge so I ordered the part, which cost couple of euros, and tried to replace it on my own. Replacing the part turned out to be more difficult than I thought it would be and in the end, I got a new device instead.
My latest 3DS is the SNES themed New 3DS XL. There weren't many new units available since Switch was already out by the time I got. It's still seen a good bit of use but I haven't carried it around with me like the previous two since there are no StreetPass chances anymore.
3DS has been my favorite console for many years and despite Switch being superior in almost every way, I still can't necessarily say I like it more.
Wow. Lot of people joined today. It's suddenly more lively than ever. I joined back in 2018. Last time I checked, which to be fair was at least a year ago, it was pretty much dead.
I had rather large 3DS library to begin with so I didn't have too many games I wanted to pick up before the shop closes. I've been buying the rest here and there. My wishlist has one more game on it. I have all Etrian Odyssey games except V. Atlus has had sales fairly often but for some reason, they always skip V. I'll finally buy it for full price unless it's miraculously discounted for the last week.
Just started playing BotW in hopes of finishing it before TotK comes out. My initial plan was to play on Switch but since it took me so long to get back to it and there are just 2 months left, I decided to continue my save file on Wii U instead.
Looking at my Wii U save files, I must have stopped using my Wii U as soon as I got a Switch in the summer. Would also explain why I never finished the game.
I've cleared ~70 shrines and 3/4 divine beasts. Just entered Akkala for the very first time. I'd imagine most people went there much earlier. I kind of avoided it because there was talk about weapons against Guardians early on and I wanted them to stay as a threat. I remember visiting the Tingle islands very early on and then making a u-turn.
Some great games here. I highly recommend Virtue's Last Reward but if you haven't played it yet, you haven't played 999 either, which you should play first, so you're better off with Zero Escape: The Nonary Games which combines both.
Kid Tripp is a fun game. The developer is a NL user (here in the comments as well, I believe) so I first stumbled upon the project here on these forums. I remember playing a demo they shared here back in the day. I've since bought both Kid Tripp and its sequel, Miles & Kilo, on Switch, and completed both of them.
I haven't played Digger Dan and would've missed it otherwise. I'll try it out soon.
These Pokémon presentations aren't very interesting in the first place but this was the worst one yet.
I kind of hate that Pokémon Café keeps showing up in these. Pokémon Shuffle (which I played a lot) never got the same kind of treatment and it was better that way. The people who are going to play the game are already playing it and know when the updates come, there's no need to make a trailer for some random event. I tried Café when it came out but I don't like how it plays. The art is cute though.
3DS. Any model that fits your pocket. Great selection of games, backwards compatibility and StreetPass functionality makes it an easy choice. I don't generally use public transport because I walk everywhere so it's also a fun bonus that it tracks your steps. I have a total of 5,142,024 steps recorded.
I'll make good use of the Japanese selection once they add more games.
@Sisilly_G I played GBA version of Mario 3 yesterday and it featured rumble. They are also bringing Kirby Tilt 'n' Tumble so I believe gyro is implemented as well.
I thought it looked quite nice while watching the Direct but I didn't realize just how much they've improved it. I'll wait for 4 though. I already have Trilogy.
I mean, BotW was already 70€ on eShop in Europe and I didn't see many, if any, complaints back when it came out. Plus, Nintendo's first party stuff is voucher compatible and NA finally got the voucher deal back so if you decide to buy from eShop, you get it for $50 regardless of if it's $60 or $70. I don't really see what the big deal here is.
The Story of Tetris from Gaming Historian is one of my favorite videos on YouTube. It does a really good job explaining all the twists and turns that surrounded Tetris's release.
Tharja. My sister, who played Awakening later, picked Henry so I think we both just liked crazy people at the time. I started a second playthrough but never got far enough to marry again. If I did, I would've married Olivia.
As for other games in the series: Fates, Birthright: Scarlet Three Houses, Golden Deer: Marianne Three Houses, Black Eagle: Shamir
Pokémon Scarlet Just about to finish the third story path. I only need to defeat the leader of Team Star. I guess this is a good time to share my overall thoughts on the game.
I like battlling, training and catching Pokémon as I've always done. New Pokémon are great. I've evolved most of them and they're pretty much all fun to use. I like the new Pokémon textures.
Exploring is ok but it certainly could be lot better, the world is quite empty. The three story branches were handled pretty much exactly as I'd imagined from the first time they announced it. Basically, you do the same tasks you do in other games, they just marketed it differently. There is some freedom in the order you do things but there's no reason you'd focus on one branch before starting the next.
As for the negatives, performance is bad, the game is full of bugs (though I luckily never experienced a crash) and towns and cities are just awful. Mesagoza is the worst city I've ever explored in a video game.
All in all, I like Scarlet and Violet more than Sword and Shield but Legends: Arceus was the superior game of the two that came last year.
Jake Hunter Detective Story: Ghost of the Dusk Finished the main story earlier this week. Doing the extras now. Fun little game. Localization isn't perfect.
Resident Evil: The Mercenaries 3D Started playing this couple of days ago. I've played Mercenaries probably once before way back when I got it but now I just decided to play it for whatever reason and it's quite fun. I don't usually play shooters. My RE experience is almost 0 because I don't like horror (too spooky) but Mercenaries is not horror and I still know most of the characters.
Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney Or should I say 逆転裁判? I was just playing this game before coming here. I started a new game in Japanese. The copy I own for DS is actually the Japanese version but it also has English. I have this fun set of original 3 games where all three come from different regions (JP, US, EU).
Anyway, I was trying to read my Japanese Danganronpa light novel but after couple of pages I concluded it's still above my skill level so I needed something else to read. I've been wanting to play the second Miles Edgeworth game so I thought I'd see how well I do with the first game before possibly buying it. I only played the first half of case one but it's pretty easy so far. Some new legal terms I didn't know from before but other than that, there wasn't much I couldn't underdstand and the legal terms I could figure out from context and/or kanji.
I'm just here to say that the "too much water" holds true for R/S/E.
Water is the most common type of Pokémon, yet they usually have just couple of different encounters per route. Surf anywhere in 3rd gen and you're bound to find the same two family of Pokémon: Tentacool and Wingull. In my opinion, it's even worse than caves full of Geodude and Zubat. The caves aren't limited to just those two Pokémon. They all have some new encounters you can't get from anywhere else.
Also, diving in R/S/E is just painful. Again, there are 3 different underwater encounters in the whole game and you move so slow in a place with nothing of note in it.
The abundancy of water and different ways to interact with it works thematically but gameplay-wise it's just bad.
22/24. You got me with Overwatch. I was unsure about Alien: Isolation and got it wrong. In hindsight, I should've gotten it right. Other than that, I was pretty confident in all of my answers.
Pokémon Scarlet
Progress: 2 titans, 2 bases, 1 gym, ~200 Pokémon caught. About to challenge the water gym leader.
River City Girls
The game has been on my wishlist ever since it came out. Noticed today that it's currently the Online Trial game so I'm finally playing it. Defeated the first boss and did the side mission that unlocked afterward.
Mario Kart 8 Deluxe
Trying out the new (old) courses with my friend. I'm also yet to play the second batch.
Discovered this thing on my own on Saturday and made a post about it on forums. Made it to Area 4 and entered the school from the wrong side. Wondered yesterday if I should contact NL staff with a news tip since you seemed to make an article about pretty much any bug in the game but decided against it.
Pokémon Scarlet Just arrived in the city. Found a bug near the first town that let me and my sister warp from one cliff side to another, making us able to find Pokémon we weren't supposed to be able to catch yet.
Splatoon 3 I need 9 more levels to reach catalog level 100. Some ranked + Salmon Run.

NA art ain't bad but I've always liked Phantom Hourglass's EU box art.

I understand that people aren't happy with the eShop closing. I never stopped using my 3DS and bought new games once in a while so I would've liked it to stay longer. There's nothing that can be done now though. They closed it and that's that. Nothing lasts forever.
Re: Poll: How Many 3DS Consoles Have You Owned?
Three.

I remember visiting the Tingle islands very early on and then making a u-turn.

Pokémon Scarlet
Just about to finish the third story path. I only need to defeat the leader of Team Star. I guess this is a good time to share my overall thoughts on the game.

Jake Hunter Detective Story: Ghost of the Dusk
Finished the main story earlier this week. Doing the extras now. Fun little game. Localization isn't perfect.
Resident Evil: The Mercenaries 3D
Started playing this couple of days ago. I've played Mercenaries probably once before way back when I got it but now I just decided to play it for whatever reason and it's quite fun. I don't usually play shooters. My RE experience is almost 0 because I don't like horror (too spooky) but Mercenaries is not horror and I still know most of the characters.
Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney
Or should I say 逆転裁判? I was just playing this game before coming here. I started a new game in Japanese. The copy I own for DS is actually the Japanese version but it also has English. I have this fun set of original 3 games where all three come from different regions (JP, US, EU).

Re: Sting's Wii Party RPG 'Dokapon Kingdom' Is Coming To Switch
I'm good. I have the original. Maybe if it were a new game instead.
Re: Surprise! Fire Emblem Engage Is Getting A Manga Series
Now the question is if this will be localized or not. The previous 10+ series didn't.
Re: Soapbox: All Fish Pokémon Are Bad, And There's A Good Reason Why
Re: Quiz: Which Of These Games Is On Switch?
22/24. You got me with Overwatch. I was unsure about Alien: Isolation and got it wrong. In hindsight, I should've gotten it right. Other than that, I was pretty confident in all of my answers.
Re: Random: Official Pokémon TikTok Account Accidentally Posts Swear-Filled Video
I don't know what I expected but it wasn't that.
Re: Here Are Japan's Top 30 Best-Selling Switch eShop Games For 2022
Glad to see Xenoblade Chronicles 3 in top 10.
Re: Ash Ketchum And Pikachu's Time In The Pokémon Anime Is Coming To An End
Great news. I hope they do something different with the new series. All the recent short series and one-offs have been great.
Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (December 10th)
Splatoon 3
Big Run.
EDIT: Forgot MK8.
Re: Talking Point: Are You Excited To See Call Of Duty Return To Nintendo Platforms?
Lacking the option: I don't play but I'm happy for others.
Re: Game Freak Registers Trademark For Potential 'Pocket Card Jockey' Sequel
One of the best 3DS eShop games. I'd be down for it.

Re: Random: Pokémon Scarlet And Violet Glitch Lets You Skip School (And The Story)
Discovered this thing on my own on Saturday and made a post about it on forums. Made it to Area 4 and entered the school from the wrong side. Wondered yesterday if I should contact NL staff with a news tip since you seemed to make an article about pretty much any bug in the game but decided against it.
Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (November 19th)
Pokémon Scarlet
Just arrived in the city. Found a bug near the first town that let me and my sister warp from one cliff side to another, making us able to find Pokémon we weren't supposed to be able to catch yet.
Splatoon 3
I need 9 more levels to reach catalog level 100. Some ranked + Salmon Run.
