Re: Nintendo San Francisco Is Getting A "Grand Opening" In May

Arawn93

As others saying it’s opening in the “safer” part of San Fran, but it’s not like Union Square never got hit by thefts/vandalism before. Parts of it is still nasty with homeless, trash, and drug addicts that will try to stab you.

Luckily California seems to be going back to anti-crime again (at least for CA standards. There are videos of crying thieves that thought the theft blanket was still in effect so that is at least a start.) so hopefully it’s more of a deterrent for people to leave the store alone and not attract emboldened idiots that just ride their bicycle inside, grab as much as they can, then ride their bicycle out as everyone just watches aka what San Fran had to deal with for years.

It’s not “politics” to want a once great city for residents and tourists that somehow can bounce back from one of the worst earthquakes ever, (but apparently powerless against criminals and cleaning the place up) to get away from its current garbage status.

Can’t wait to read some posters that never been to CA let alone live in San Francisco insist the place is “beautiful” and “safe” like in the previous article on this story.

Re: Skullgirls Dev Is Off The Game, Taking Legal Action Against Publisher

Arawn93

I mean it’s Skullgirls what do you expect? Decade+ worth of controversies at this point. Considering their recent history of throwing each other under the bus/whistleblowing it was bound to happen eventually.

The original creator Alex Ahad and the lead developer for most of its development Mike Zaimont (two biggest reasons why Skullgirls blew up as much as it did) isn’t even involved with the game anymore so at this point I don’t really care either way.

Re: Metroid Prime Remastered Studio 'Iron Galaxy' Confirms Lay Offs

Arawn93

I get lot of people here only heard about them because of Metroid Prime Remaster, but IG has been struggling since they were done with Killer Instinct 3 living off Microsoft paychecks many years ago.

When they made their actual own games it flopped/barely had any success and got stuck with port jobs of various levels of inconsistent success.

This is hardly a “Nintendo is at fault!” if you looked at IG track record. If anything IG should be thanking Nintendo for giving them the paycheck gig to begin with. Which IG has thanked them for if you looked up the Post release Metroid Prime Remaster tweets.

Nintendo is not at fault for a 3rd party struggling after they left. By that logic Microsoft was at “fault” first since the Killer Instinct days.

Re: Here Are The Top Ten Best-Selling Nintendo Switch Games As Of December 2024

Arawn93

At the end of the day as much as people hype up Arceus as a “high quality” Pokemon game….it also had a more niche audience target. S/V is a real mainstream audience Pokemon game and what is more it’s open world. It already nearly passed over Sword/Shield which I expect will happen by next update at this rate.

Children (target audience) and most adults are not gonna complain about bugs or subpar frame rate if the game functions fine (which it does objectively speaking. You can complete the game.). Hell most of the people that DID complain online ended up buying the game anyway so yeah I don’t blame them for them not “changing” if their audience is that loyal/weak willed that they can get away with stuff that companies like Ubisoft can’t.

Re: Nintendo's Switch 2 Announcement Reportedly Impacted Steam Deck Sales

Arawn93

I said this before, but Steam Deck and Switch has very little (if at all) audience overlap. Their audience scale is also not remotely comparable.

Steam Deck sales also was inevitably gonna start dipping down after the enthusiasts got them while more and more modern release AAA games keep dropping that struggles hard on a Steam deck that you have to severely gimp down the settings to run semi well.

Lot of Valve fans want them to announce a SD 2 already, but Valve already said it’s gonna be at least another generation off.

Re: Opinion: The Hyped-Up New Pokémon TCG Set Is A Total Bummer To Open

Arawn93

@1UP-HUSKY It’s not crazy because people been obsessed about cardboard for decades. It’s a wealth flex for enthusiast collectors. People did this with baseball cards before. If you’re in the upper salary bracket then $1400 is barely an inconvenience if at all. Wealthy people got even more worthless crap at a higher pricetag.

If these people never existed decades ago until today then card scalpers wouldn’t be treating this as a viable side hustle.

Re: Sonic's Third Movie Outing Gets A Speedy Digital Release This Week

Arawn93

@Rob3008 You replied to a comment from weeks ago when data back then doesn’t reflect data today I hope you realized that.

In context it was referring to Domestic (Which Sonic 3 was beating Mufassa at quite badly at the time and Mufassa reportedly heavily missed their domestic projections) until international markets rolled in (which Sonic 3 international releases were later compared to Mufassa as well so initial domestic lead Sonic 3 had disappeared quick.)

Mufassa also had higher expectations considering the last movie did well over a billion so this is a notable decrease of performance despite how bloated the budget (over twice/almost three times of Sonic 3) was.

Mufassa wasn’t a flop since it still landed in the 600~ range, but Sonic 3 did more profit wise with 70~ million than Mufassa did with 200~ million is the current takeaway as of now.

Re: Random: Astro Bot "Almost Outdid Nintendo At Its Own Game", Jokes Reggie

Arawn93

Nah, but I get the recency bias. Sony needs to get more platformer experience again in recent times to consistently be at Nintendo level.

More Astrobot type platformer focus projects and less industry trend chasing Concord type flops then I can see it being genuine competition for Nintendo. What good is it if Sony treats it like the current “once or twice a generation”.

Re: Poll: So, How Would You Feel About 24 Racers In Mario Kart 9?

Arawn93

I don’t see what is wrong with 24.

That still seems very doable if that is gonna be the standard for Kart racing online. It’s not hard to find people. It’s Mario Kart.

You can boot up a game of MK8D right now and get games. MK8D is OLD. MK9 probably gonna be the most played racer for awhile when it launches.

It also adds to the fun chaos which is the point of Mario Kart. This isn’t Forza.

Re: Feature: Everything You Missed In The Switch 2 Mario Kart Reveal - Characters, Features, Easter Eggs

Arawn93

I feel like a lot of people here have some unrealistic expectations for a device that is portable for a kart game that always focused on being stylizied cartoony over high detail realism. Have a feeling this is gonna be a running theme going forward with every new Switch 2 game with constant “this could have been on Switch 1!”.

Some of these people make it sound like they expected Forza. I compared MK8D + Tour with this game and they don’t look the same at all lol. Both the Kart racers and the tracks themselves are better detailed.

It’s an upgrade for sure, but it’s not gonna be a night and day difference let’s be real. If you thought it was gonna be then you set yourself up for disappointment from the start.

Re: Nintendo's Share Price Dips Following Its Big Switch 2 Reveal

Arawn93

Doesn’t mean anything. Some shareholders are mad Nintendo didn’t invent an entirely new gimmick. Watch them rebound during launch week.

You don’t need to find new ways to invent the wheel everytime if you got a solid foundation.

Personally hope it dips more because it would be one of those safe investments at this point when it inevitably spikes up.

Re: New Mario Kart Teased For Switch 2

Arawn93

Peach notably not in her biker outfit when on a bike.

Also lmao some of you are blind as a bat if you think that looks remotely anything like MK8/Tour.

Also it has begun: People unrealistically expecting PS5 level tech jumps for the Switch 2 lol. Have a feeling we are gonna see A LOT of that in the future.

Re: Japanese Charts: Super Mario Party Jamboree Surpasses 1 Million Units Sold

Arawn93

FYI when you apply proper context it’s not bad at all.

Switch is an ancient console at this point and a new system is coming soon. Even then the evergreens alone are still doing a respectable grind. Expect some more 1 million milestone Switch software broken soon.

FYI Switch had no price cuts either so if they ever wanted to really aggressively push more hardware then that is still an option that has yet to be used.

Sony though I got no excuses for. Their software has been largely dead on arrival for awhile now. Just comparing the performance (other sites has the top 30 already up) of DQ3HD of Switch (which btw had stock issues on launch due to demand exceeding supply) and PlayStation tells the whole story. I don’t expect another heartbeat until what? Wilds?

Re: Nintendo Breaks Silence On 'Switch 2' Image And Video Leaks

Arawn93

Yeah most of these “leaks” are crap and just clickbait so people can visit their site, profile, etc

Users here really forgot this is exactly how the “Switch Pro” leaks turned out.

Also the constant theme of “Nintendo silence = “It must be real!” and “Nintendo not silent = “It must be real!” for the hunt of leak validation. Love how neutral responses are now considered verification when that has been the industry norm for a long time.

Re: Oops! EVO 2025's Lineup Has Accidentally Been Revealed

Arawn93

@MARl0 VF in America is even more dead than NR games right now. VF5 had been around for a LONG time at this point so it’s gonna have limited appeal at this point beyond the hardcore audience despite the constant porting because mostly everyone in the 3D crowd still on Tekken 8. VF5 isn’t MvC 2 or Smash Melee levels of endurance on time.

Hopefully the new VF game changes things so there is another relevant 3D fighter again outside of Tekken since VF USED to be the golden standard of 3D fighters.

Re: Xenoblade Chronicles X: Definitive Edition Trailer Sheds Light On Its Story

Arawn93

As expected it got the XB1 DE treatment if the name wasn’t a dead giveaway

  • New story (although X needed this more than XB1 or any Xeno game since the story was easily the weakest out of all of them because it wasn’t even properly finished.)
  • QoL upgrades. The models look better and more importantly the horrendous UI got improved. Also more helpful indicators so it doesn’t feel like you’re playing blind to find things or combo.

I would trade away the “gamepad” for all these improvements in a heartbeat if I had a choice with the Wii U version lol.

Re: Oops! EVO 2025's Lineup Has Accidentally Been Revealed

Arawn93

@Lizuka What are they gonna replace it with? Another anime fighter or another old Capcom fighter? Doesn’t matter how dead the game became it’s still a NR style 2D fighter that has its own competitive audience that don’t touch other fighters.

Capcom, Bandai, Arc Sys, SNK, French Bread, etc already got slots and EVO is now owned by Sony so zero chance Smash Ultimate makes a comeback for main slot.

Re: GameStop's Internal Database Lists Multiple 'Switch 2' Accessory SKUs

Arawn93

@liljmoore Some people want their 5 min of internet fame even if it risks their job lol

@TechaNinja Because it usually turns out most of the leaks are wrong. Anyone can leak crap anonymously, but it’s harder to sort out the more legit ones. This GameStop one goes to the “legit” pile, but that pile is hardly very big atm.

Need I remind you all those months of “Switch Pro” leaks ended up being completely wrong with wild claims ranging from “TV only, but with better specs” to “Launching with a 2nd screen”? Then it ended up being the OLED where 98% of that was completely wrong and the ones that were right were the ones that leaked shortly before the thing was announced.

Their “lips are sealed” is because they have a strategically marketed date planned long in advance to promote the Switch 2. They won’t let all of that go down the drain because of a GameStop employee. They are not gonna go “Whelp! Time to reveal everything now!” as much as that would be very appealing to some people.

They know their vast majority of their audience isn’t hardcore game enthusiasts that check videogame news everyday or don’t go out of their way to learn about leaks so there is very little reason to deviate from their original announce plan date.

Re: Zelda: Breath Of The Wild Tops Rolling Stone's 50 Best Games Of All Time

Arawn93

I mean considering how impactful BoTW was for the industry that it inspired big names like Genshin, ER, etc. and it wasn’t a game from 20+ years ago it’s honestly deserved.

People like to hate on BoTW (often enough ironically from the Zelda fanbase itself because they fear BoTW means no more OoT style Zelda), but I mean are you gonna deny the results the game produced whether it’s large sales, positive reception, or as I mentioned inspired several games since dropping?
