Bananza was great and glad it sold + was well received. It’s a 3D platformer collectathon so don’t know what people expected if they are gonna complain about collecting things.
Anyway this game was what DK needed to make a splash back for Nintendo.
8.5 would be a safe range. I’m not gonna dock almost half the points because I can’t explore mostly empty plains, complaining about graphics of all things in Pokemon, and especially a non-issue like no voices in a series known for largely not doing voices for decades (When was this ever all of a sudden a Pokemon exclusive complaint? Ton of games chose to do no voices as a stylistic choice and gamers were fine with it for years. I didn’t hear gamers cry about Minecraft being silent for starters. Tons of games from indie to high end opted out for voices for one reason or another).
All I care about is the performance actually being good on the S2 unlike most prior Pokemon titles, the battle system finally evolving for the better (I laugh that people call it “button mashy” then I guess every RPG that isn’t menu turn based is that too like Xenoblade then) , it’s still a good monster collector, and the various QoL this game introduced.
Also people bringing up games like the new Digimon game as a “gotcha” that game was considered largely mid as a monster collector game just like back when Cyber Sleuth released. It has plenty of its own issues as well as someone that played it.
@Alexface No. that is a separate $30 purchase still despite this game dropping over a year ago. Atlus cut as much corners as they could with this port while trying to milk as much as they can from Persona fans. You’re looking at $90+ for a complete version of the game despite being a late port. This S2 port was an easy skip for me at least with its current asking price.
It’s obvious not every update is gonna be a “home run” but Nintendo Music at this point has several good additions at this point and tbh a nice companion app for my actual music app + music stream app for the Nintendo catalogue.
Would be nice if Xenoblade gets added eventually, but been enjoying the increased Fire Emblem presence since launch.
lol so not only is it a botched rushed GKC release that they won’t even attempt a very doable 60 FPS (S2 specs + actual optimization has already achieved this on more taxing games) , but they won’t even refine said botched release by release time (“We will fix it eventually guys so please pay $60 for game, $30 for the dlc, and tip thank you~”) and expect you to pay full price all the same?
Shame Atlus is so bad now with their Nintendo releases. It was already ominous the moment they said Episode Aigis won’t be included with the release despite P3R being well over a year old at this point.
Seriously they are gonna lose out on a lot of double dippers that had no issue buying P5R, P4G, and P3P on S1.
It just got more lazy and smells of being heavily monitized despite it. Since it’s Sega your better off waiting for a DEEP sale (like in the other platforms since you can get P3R + episode Aigis significantly cheaper then what S2 port is asking for) if you REALLY want to play this on S2 that badly. Paying $90+ for a crap late port that blatantly took many shortcuts at the expense of the consumer isn’t the way.
Wonder how badly this comment section will age (like usual) once the Japan sales article drop’s nevermind the actual total sales.
I said it once and I’ll say it as often as I need to based on how truthful it has been: UK has always been a poor trend indicator for how a Nintendo game sells and performs.
Who are they trying to fool with that usual PR excuse? Rush to release? Are you kidding? Do they not realize that P3R has already been out for over a year on other platforms? That ship has sailed already.
The bulk of the work is already done since this is a porting job. Feels lazy just so they can cash in on early adopter S2 users instead of actually optimizing the game.
If this port is gonna be intentionally gimped (especially when the whole selling point of S2 versions is they are more properly optimized compared to PC versions) then I’ll just stick with playing on Steam deck instead of double dipping.
Game key cart port though so no big loss on shipping
@QuanLoh How would comparing it to Cyberpunk (a completely different style of game + ironically on launch the game was absolutely terrible if we are doing a 1:1 situation thing) be a more valid style of review? A game should be reviewed based on their own merits. Nothing more nothing less.
That is cool you think the game should be rated low even if I think that is a tad doomer, but I feel that is largely downplaying the positives this game delivered and hand waving all the requests people asked for in this game (battle innovation, good performance, etc).
Ok that is dumb. Why the hell would you lock out something important like a mega evolution form screwing over the people that prefer single player? Most online rewards previously was just stuff you could have theoretically obtained in single player albeit with some grinding.
I mean just like with the Mario Kart bundle if you are gonna get a S2 and the Pokemon game anyway then it’s better to get it via the bundle. Obviously if you already own a S2 then there is little reason to get this.
What is with these late physicals now for the S1 long after the S2 dropped especially with no S2 patch? Like “better late than never”, but nothing much beyond that. The 1st game is also still strangely absent.
I feel like a lot of points was taken off just because the exploration aspect is worse than the 2022 release.
As a tradeoff the battle aspect is MUCH better. TBH game is a 9/10. 8/10 at the lowest. You can’t even complain about the performance on the S2 version which is a CONSTANT complaint in Pokemon games in general. I don’t know. Feels weird seeing this game with 7/10 with objectively WORSE Pokemon games rated higher on NL. I guess that is the problem with no set standard + revolving door of reviewers.
While voice acting is nice request….it feels like a design choice at this point. Similar to how other game series is in the “lack of talking” category. Also I’m sure they been happy not having to pay VAs for decades with the sales they get despite lack of VAs. VAs at the end of the day isn’t a deal breaker for most people let’s be real.
@GoldenSunRM People actually wanted a SSJ4 Goku as a separate character for years. Like it was one of the top demanded characters from fans since they didn’t want the character stuck as a super for Kid Goku (GT).
The Daima SSJ4 Goku is probably the closest those fans are gonna get. It remains to be seen if they will still add more characters at this point. Most people thought Labcoat 21 was the last one and that remained the case for years until now.
Hopefully they do add some more eventually even if it’s a slow trickle one at a time. There is plenty they could still add especially from the Heroes movie like Purple Gohan and Orange Piccolo.
At this rate we are gonna have S2 doomers pushing the goalpost everytime there is a “ahead of S1 and Sony sales rate”.
Also hilarious that all of a sudden it’s a problem when the S2 launch isn’t super front loaded with system seller games.
People….please look at the launch of the PS5, PS4, and S1 launch roster. Guess what? It was full of ports/multi-platforms/and maybe 1-2 genuine exclusives as well for their machine.
It’s not about how many high profile games they can vomit out in week 1. It’s how they steadily release since then and Nintendo obviously has a roadmap planned to spread out their bigger releases. S2 is doing no worse then how S1 has been releasing 1st party games in terms of quantity and it’s certainly doing still better then Sony at first party releases within year 1.
People pulling predictions out of their butt dooming “oh S2 sales is gonna flatline after year 1” or some other nonsense scenario has no factual basis to even remotely support that claim considering S2 isn’t flatlining or even significantly dipping down still. Sales remain steady even when no big release happens and whenever it does the sales spike up before eventually going back to still high steady gains.
Like it’s one thing if you want to criticize S2 (there is plenty of legitimate things to criticize it for), but sales is not one of them. People are buying S2 in droves whether you like it or not.
Yeah glad I stuck with MKW. By far the better kart game experience on the Switch platforms when it was designed for it from the ground up unlike the Sonic game where it’s a cash grab afterthought port lol.
It’s not surprising. Sonic in itself isn’t that popular in Japan especially compared to Mario. Mario Kart World is also gonna make a bigger splash in general when it’s THE kart series.
People can try to poke holes all day about why “Sonic is the better kart game” (people did this too back when the Crash kart game dropped), but end of day it’s more of a fight for 2nd place. Nobody is dethroning Mario Kart anytime soon especially with World being very active still despite a vocal minority swearing off the game here.
@Aeralto Hyrule Warriors is a 2014 Wii U era game. Of course it ran at 60 on a SW1. Bayonetta 2 also ran 60 on SW1 without having to sacrifice anything if we are gonna talk about 60FPS Wii U ports. SW1 meanwhile couldn’t even have a stable AoC experience when we are not talking about a Wii U port action game. The system had an obvious limit and SW2 is no different. It’s not gonna handle higher end modern releases well without sacrifices.
Your realistic alternative choices was unstable 60 likely bouncing from 35 to 60 which is a terrible experience for a heavy action game like this or have a “stable” 60, but them heavily cutting down the mob density which defeats the point for playing a game like this which is kill a large quantity of crowd mobs quickly.
That is all irrelevant when the game in actual question is a 2025 many times higher spec/ambitious Musou type game then what Hyrule Warriors was.
If you want to play high end modern release Musou games on a S2 then a “stable” 30 while keeping the crowd density untouched is as best as you are gonna get. Otherwise if you don’t want ANY sacrifices (stable 60 AND everything else not touched) then play on a PS5 Pro or decent PC. Either that or KT decides to make a from-ground-up Musou catered toward SW2 designed for a 60 experience.
Switch 2 just like with Switch 1 is never gonna have 1:1 parity with the stronger machines on higher end 3rd party games like this.
Anyone that would have been “fine” with a drastic amount of enemy decrease just to get stable 60 completely missed the point of these games.
The main draw is literally wipe out large groups of enemies. I rather have a stable 30 that keeps the crowd density intact than unstable 60 that heavily cuts down the enemies you fight.
Like what are you getting out of the 60 at this point if you’re only fighting like 7 enemies at a time or something? This isn’t a dark souls game where it’s fine to have a small amount of enemies if there is challenge, but these are trash mobs. The only challenge they provide is their raw numbers. Decreasing that goes against the nature of the game so KT made the right choice.
I don’t think anyone rationally would blame SE for making their FF remake AAA games on game-key carts. If anything that was the intended purpose because no way anyone can say in a straight face it would be a smooth transition on an actual physical cart.
What he FAILED to understand is the OTHER SE games that is going to key carts is NOT AAA high end SE games. Sorry, but these various low-mid end SE going to game key was the real issue. You know…those same type of games that got physicals no problem on the S1 like Octopath, Triangle Strategy, etc.
That wasn’t a technology limitation issue which is understandable. That was a shameless cost cutting issue and they deserve to get spat on for that by consumers.
It’s not gonna be very impactful either way. Bowser’s reign was largely unremarkable. Neither particular good or bad. He mainly listened to Japan. The replacement isn’t gonna be any different. It’s basically the opposite of Sony in that regard.
We all know Japan has the actual power. It’s bigger news if there is Japanese senior management changes if you were hoping for “change of direction”. People like Reggie were an anomaly and even then he struggled to convince Japan most of the time.
It’s weird seeing people here acting like this is the first FE mobile game. Feh has been around as a FTP for years.
Also the people making the mobile games are NOT the same people making the Switch/Switch 2 FE games so let’s not do the “waste of time” nonsense as if the development for this game directly impacted the upcoming S2 FE game.
The audience overlap was never that thick to begin with. Not every mobile gamer touched a console FE and not every FE gamer touched a mobile game.
No idea why he is acting like he won. Anyone can say anything they want in a statement. If the court doesn’t support you then you don’t have ownership until a judgement says otherwise. A thrown out case is not something in your favor lol.
Anyway he is sus as hell acting as if Sega didn’t use the song for decades and it wasn’t until recently that he “found out”. I’m not gonna judge him for wanting to get a bag, but call it what it is. This wasn’t some original song he made on a whim. It was a song specifically for a Sonic project so of course the “who owns it” is gonna be not clear cut.
He likely signed something 20+ years ago where the song in fact isn’t 100% his ownership, but because it was 20+ years ago his memory during the contract day isn’t gonna be the best let’s be real. He is probably hoping Sega will give him something eventually just to shut him up.
Yeah as others said I’m better off sticking with World. This wasn’t the best transition into S2 and it’s disgustingly monetized. It’s a “wait for sale” tier game. Playing on S1 isn’t worth at all.
Make Revelations 3 for S2 from the ground up if you want RE to find success on a Nintendo platform. You can only do so much with old ports, BS cloud versions, and what is now looking up straight up inferior versions of the same game on other platforms.
If Capcom could do that with Monster Hunter and get success (Rise) then I don’t know why they don’t with RE.
@Reztobi Yup. This is what I feel a lot of people are missing. You can’t just make the portable hardware and throw it in the wild thinking the specs alone will carry an already occupied audience of handheld gamers.
One of the reasons why it works for Nintendo is Nintendo has an abundance of 1st party support thanks to every game not being a stupid amount of time/money project. Most of the third party support could dissapear and the Nintendo machine will still do fine.
If the new portable Sony machine is gonna get 1st parties at the rate that PS5 does then it’s gonna be a hard sell. If you think it’s gonna be fine because “oh third parties” then at that point people have more options now. Some third parties are on S2. Rest are on Steam for the portable pc machines.
@CupidStunt Yup. No idea why people inventing history. Sony forced paid upgrades too so they are not above crap lol. Hell plenty of third parties also didn’t offer free upgrades and forced you to pay again.
Trying to directly compete on Nintendo home turf (portable space) is gonna end up like a Vita level disaster at this point. Even during the PSP “peak” days it still lagged behind Nintendo portables.
It’s the equivalent of one day Nintendo trying to compete with Sony and MS as a high spec home console market again.
Well glad that shot the “physical is dead” narrative. There is a demand. Unfortunately most third parties will cut costs whenever possible and they won’t hesitate to take the cheaper option even at the consumer experience expense.
Key cards should have been reserved for giant games only to justify the use. I’m talking bigger than Cyberpunk post S2 optimization.
Before someone brings it up inevitably like usual: Your not getting smooth 60 with this game on a Steam deck. S2 is like PS4.5 and a bit better than a Steam Deck as a point of reference.
If anyone was expecting similar level of experience when AAA devs want to milk out PS5 Pro level experiences with their modern releases then you are gonna be disappointed. Nintendo never “caught up” with the specs chasing race since what? GameCube? This same old song and dance happened with the S1 so no idea why people thought it would be suddenly different especially when portable play is a focus.
As long as their actual 1st parties are great quality releases like they did with both MKW and DKB + what we can already see with Metroid Prime 4 then 1st party wise it should be fine.
@jojobar Are we gonna say the same thing for COVID year for S1 which was an anomaly in its favor when we compare that year benchmark with S2 as well? Or is this strictly the S2 downplay game?
If it looks/runs like ***** on portable mode then there was little point for this port.
@SurprisedRobinChu optimization matters. There are already plenty of examples shown on YT of games played on S2 being better than on a SD. Cyberpunk S2 vs Cyberpunk SD already kills your narrative.
SD isn’t even considered a high spec portable PC machine now. They long since been lapped by competition since Valve doesn’t want to do yearly upgrades. You don’t even need a SD if you just like the Steam Os.
Also FYI as someone that own a SD…ER definitely struggles to even maintain a 30 so no idea why you are even bragging about ER on a SD of all things as if it was a technical marvel.

8.5 would be a safe range.
Re: Sonic Adventure 2 'Live And Learn' Lawsuit Dismissed, Crush 40 Musician Issues Statement
Re: Round Up: The Reviews Are In For Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds
Yeah as others said I’m better off sticking with World. This wasn’t the best transition into S2 and it’s disgustingly monetized. It’s a “wait for sale” tier game. Playing on S1 isn’t worth at all.
Re: No Switch 2 "Upgrade Path" For Dragon Quest VII: Reimagined Planned
FYI this kind of crap isn’t Nintendo’s fault. That is all on said third parties. Other third parties did offer upgrades.
Re: Metroid Prime 4: Beyond Finally Gets A Release Date, Open World Confirmed
Still excited for it. I don’t automatically dismiss just because something has open world. Would have missed out BoTW/Tears if that was the case.
Re: Super Mario Galaxy 1 & 2 Bundle Confirmed For Switch, Launching October
Good news if you already have All Stars then you can just get Galaxy 2 separate
Re: Rumour: Resident Evil Requiem Could Be Heading To The Switch 2
Make Revelations 3 for S2 from the ground up if you want RE to find success on a Nintendo platform. You can only do so much with old ports, BS cloud versions, and what is now looking up straight up inferior versions of the same game on other platforms.
If Capcom could do that with Monster Hunter and get success (Rise) then I don’t know why they don’t with RE.
Re: The Force Isn't Strong With Star Wars Outlaws On Switch 2, Initial Impressions Suggest
lol this was the safest skip ever.
Re: Nintendo Music Adds Fire Emblem: Awakening Soundtrack In New Update
2nd favorite FE soundtrack after Three Houses. Hopefully this means Three Houses soundtrack can drop soon.
Would love for a remake of Awakening/Fates despite some in the FE community hating those games because “it’s everything that went wrong with FE”.
Re: Mini Review: The Exit 8 - Nintendo Switch 2 Edition - Unnerving Horror Loop Is Worth The Budget Price
Tbh it deserves kudos for being pretty original + be a good horror concept that it actually got greenlit for a horror film.
Re: Rumour: Sony Is Gunning For The Switch 2 With A Handheld, Dockable PS6
Re: Another Switch Game Just Got A Free Switch 2 Upgrade - Includes Higher Frame Rate, Enhanced Resolution And More
@CupidStunt Yup. No idea why people inventing history. Sony forced paid upgrades too so they are not above crap lol. Hell plenty of third parties also didn’t offer free upgrades and forced you to pay again.
Re: Another Switch Game Just Got A Free Switch 2 Upgrade - Includes Higher Frame Rate, Enhanced Resolution And More
@coolioam Yeah I was about to say Nintendo did several S2 versions and is still adding more.
If anything it’s the 3rd parties that is skipping out on S2 versions. Either because they lack the dev kits or don’t bother period.
Re: Rumour: Sony Is Gunning For The Switch 2 With A Handheld, Dockable PS6
This isn’t the right move for Sony imo.
Re: CD Projekt Reveals 75% Of Cyberpunk 2077 Switch 2 Sales Were Physical In Opening Month
Re: Square Enix Confirms Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade Runs At A "Stable" 30fps On Switch 2
Re: Donkey Kong Bananza Is Selling Like Bananas On Switch 2 (US)
Good. It’s a fun game and glad US market ate it up as expected.
Re: Switch 2 Sales In The US Are Outpacing The Original Console By 75%
@jojobar Are we gonna say the same thing for COVID year for S1 which was an anomaly in its favor when we compare that year benchmark with S2 as well? Or is this strictly the S2 downplay game?
Re: First Footage Of Elden Ring Running On Switch 2 Appears Online
