I don’t see the issue. Grove is still in the credits. They just rightfully don’t have the “badge of honor” of appearing on the boot up because quite frankly, ton of GTA fans are still pissed at them.
@Maulbert Tell that to the latest Persona 3 Remake. That is $70 as a multiple times told story with a long existing engine. Imagine buying the game day 1 and just the dlc expansion ($35) without a sale which sets you back three figures.
You will learn real quick that a game’s perceptive “worth” is extremely flexible in the gaming community.
Who cares about “bullying” in a legal setting? This isn’t “who I would want as a my friend” contest. Also it’s PocketPair. They have way more skeletons in their closet than Nintendo has despite being “smaller”.
What matters is if there are legal grounds for this to begin with which lot of legal minds are backing Nintendo corner on this at this point.
If people here actually played Palworld you would know there are quite a bit of elements that go beyond “inspirations” line.
Let’s call it for what it is: PocketPair is greedy and prideful as hell that they refuse to pay 66k and legally admit they were in the wrong. They don’t want to display the image of them getting a spanking from Nintendo because it may portray poorly toward investors and customers.
Also got a loud laugh reading someone here hoping Nintendo loses because they don’t “innovate” yet back Palworld’s corner of all things. Lot of parody being seen here from the usual Anti-Nintendo crowd.
Ok safe to say this “drip feed” is actually quite frequent.
Also hilarious someone here already dooming that this won’t work because “lol YouTube” when vast majority already at least had the basic Nintendo membership so this is a bonus for a lot of us.
No I rather boot up this app then play/download a video on YouTube at non optimal quality on my phone to listen to Nintendo music.
Price cut won’t happen until next system is out (at the earliest) since that is the smartest move for them. Sure switch sales are slowing down, but let’s not delude ourselves that it’s actually bad. Far from it, especially in the proper context for how old the system is. It’s actually doing quite well in that respect.
Nintendo knows they got one more holiday hump left they can milk the system for.
Lmao. You see? Yet there are people asking why Nintendo go after “innocent” emulators.
Sorry, but for every one of you that emulate while not stealing for own gain “I just wanted to preserve this Switch game that isn’t out yet! Honest!” there are scores of people like him.
This guy is just an idiot among idiots that wanted to broadcast it to the world of how arrogant pirate logic is that hang out in the various emulator subreddits.
Also got a laugh from the people here acting like Pokemon developers or Nintendo developers are the same people that handle legal. “Why they not making Pokemon or Nintendo online better?!” yeah because that is totally the job description of lawyers lol.
Saying Nintendo Music are trying to “compete” with Spotify/Apple Music or whatever is like saying the Steam Deck/Rog Alley/ or whatever is trying to compete with the Switch.
Minimal target audience overlap doesn’t mean “trying to take all your customers” aka what competing means in the industry context.
Wake me up when Nintendo Music has Taylor Swift, Eminem, Van Halen, or whatever. Last I checked, Mario Wonder soundtrack wasn’t in any of those music streaming services prior to Nintendo Music so they were not aggressively pulled off. I guarantee you Apple doesn’t feel like they are being competed with on Nintendo with music and vice versa. Thinking otherwise is a giant reach. Milk industry is not competing with the ice cream industry just because dairy is involved.
That is way less money than expected. This honestly puts a giant hole on the “Nintendo is being greedy” conspiracy and more “Nintendo just rightfully defending their patents”.
If Palworld devs were smart they would just pay the money, acknowledge the blatantly obvious elephant in the room that lot of stuff in their game wasn’t just simple “inspirations”, and move on.
I don’t see trying to fight this out in court for who knows how long is gonna work out for them especially in the long run against Nintendo that is at this point masters of the craft on dealing with legal. A battle of attrition isn’t gonna work against Nintendo either lol.
Also I can tell a lot of people here in the comment section never touched this particular Pokemon clone when they are using games like World of Final Fantasy as an example. The sheer amount of bad faith comparisons doesn’t help your case one bit.
I doubt lot of third parties want to make the same mistake again and not support until years later after system dropped aka losing a ton of potential money.
X case is unique that it’s not comparable to how 1, 2, or 3 reveal dropped on Switch
Majority of people didn’t watch this off a Nintendo stream like usual. It was off random YouTube video drop which means it will get more traffic then usual. Not to mention reveal was dropped on its own and not with an entire Direct worth of games.
Factor in this is the supposed “dead” period for Switch it makes X engage more discussion because there isn’t much other Nintendo games to talk about right now. I mean what? Talk about the new Prime game?
“I can do X, Y, and Z to get it for free! So it shouldn’t cost money! Why $20 a year that translates to less than $2 a month? Scam!”
You can tell how some people are so used to pirating and stealing crap for while that they are incredibly decencitized on what is considered a “scam” or not. I bet they think paying internet is a scam because you can steal your neighbor’s WiFi code.
The optimistic part of me is any delays for adding more music is from going back to screenshot every track appropriately and vet each track if they are spoiler or not.
@progx They would have to price it at like $1.66 a month max to be cheaper then if you just got NSO for a year for $20. Hell if $20 up front is a big ask then just pay by month manually which comes out to be $4 which tbh is a bad deal compared to if you just payed for the year.
Not very practical especially when you compare other monthly paywall prices for other music subscribe venues.
Reminder you don’t need even need a Switch for NSO. You are paying around $1.67 a month for this “paywall” that a couple people were complaining about in the reveal article even if you are part of the minority that wasn’t on the basic NSO prior.
That was fast. Optimistic that the “drip feed” updates is less drip and more like when your dumb plumber forgot to turn off the water before going into the pipes that floods your bathroom.
lol imagine if the new Mana game was on Switch day 1. Would have done a lot better. Good for Romance Saga for getting a win. Switch audience showed up for it.
A Sonic game (especially one with Shadow who only the West really loves) doing poorly in Japan was expected. Frontiers did barely over 40k on launch all platforms combined including the Switch (that did over half the sales).
Also wild I’m seeing someone here actually defending PS5 sales with cope rhetoric. You don’t even see that in PushSquare and that is the PlayStation adjacent site lol.
@OctoCallie20 What are you talking about? What paywall? Did you even read the article? If you had a NSO membership already (which most of the Nintendo base does for you know…playing online. You don’t need the higher tier one either.) you’re not paying anything extra. Two min ago I booted up a random Scarlet/Violet song from the app and I didn’t pay a dime for it.
I get your the type that probably would rather download Nintendo music off YouTube, but that doesn’t make you any more correct in your post.
@jowy_sw The “tourists” thing goes both ways. You see all the time on Twitter/X for example of people complaining about X game, Y anime, or Z manga by throwing out buzz phrases like “male gaze pandering” “bunch of gooners” or “incel dwellers” while having zero prior stake on said thing they are complaining about just because it shows up on feed and conflicts with their personal bias sensibilities.
@NielsNL It’s same logic why Nintendo didn’t put all their games on Steam. So they can retain value on their products and profit the most from said products. Same reason why barely any Nintendo music was in apple/spotify. As with many things already, Nintendo took a different route from Sony.
Nintendo doesn’t have to give the middle man a cut and they already have a sizable membership base so it’s not a “Epic vs Steam” scenario. Just helps further incentives their memberships.
@Mrkittyhead “It’s sad to see how many people skipped out on XB2…”
XB2 is the most popular and sold Xenoblade game to date regardless how one personally feels about the game so kind of an odd comment to make even if you want to take the pro censorship side. By that logic even more people skipped out on the other games of the series for various “sad” reasons that are non “fanservice” reasons.
Ironically the fact that XB2 pulled those numbers while being the most “fan-service” of all the Xeno games kind of puts things to perspective that the “sexy stuff” in Xenoblade was never a huge factor for the series success or failure as some people here think.
@Teksetter Did the original release of XB1 on Wii only have English voices in the localization?
XB1 DE has both languages so at least from a precedence point of view the last DE had dual audio and I don’t remember the last time a Monolith game was dub only since the original X localization. I don’t see why they wouldn’t add the JPN voices now even if it has to be via free DLC at worst.
Also putting aside the genre, weird again people here acting like Xeno series wasn’t full of sexual themes content prior.
XB1, XB2, and XB3 + Xenosaga all had them yet people still played them all the same. I highly doubt the existence of a breast slider or a hot spring costume would have been a deal breaker at this point lol.
Also weird seeing all these people here on the hill of “this Japanese Mech Sci-Fi themed game is serious so it shouldn’t have boobs”….as if they are either completely ignoring or completely ignorant of the history of fanservice in Japanese anime/games in the past within the mecha Sci-Fi genre LMAO.
FYI they learned after the Switch Tokyo Mirage Sessions Japanese refund fiasco. At least they didn’t keep things vague/had confusing screenshots for a version of a game not being sold.
People here want to joke that “it doesn’t matter”, but people should be properly informed of what versions they are buying.
Always funny in these comments sections regarding emulation, the usuals immediately go to bat in the name for “game preservation” acting like this wouldn’t STILL happen even if Nintendo had every game they ever had in existence on the current platform.
We all know that is nonsense. Vast majority of people are not “emulating” old games from several generations in the past. No no no. By far it’s people that just don’t want to spend money and play their video game earlier on new release games. It’s not some guess work either.
The literal subreddits for these emulators is full of users alone that shamelessly admit they do it so they don’t give Nintendo a dime and play new games early. The “preservation” is often used as a shield so they can act like what they are doing has an ounce of moral righteousness.
@HingryHuppo Whatever your rant is trying to accomplish, you are wrong. Just even further proves my point that is why we have rules. Otherwise we would be back to the “good ole” Wild West days which I can tell most of this comment section would hate what that would entail. Hint: You wouldn’t be having this current luxury sitting on a computer talking on a Nintendo website.
All you accomplished is gone for a personal experience to sum up your argument. Basically “this x incident was bad so Y incident is invalid” which is complete nonsense.
Meanwhile in reality, where other people besides you travel to different countries you see tourists have conflicts with the locals all the time. Usually the tourist has some selfish notion that just because they are used to a certain way of doing things that means it’s fine wherever they go.
Hell Japan in particular that gets a large influx of Western tourists in Okinawa, Tokyo, etc where there are incidents reportedly caused by foreigner tourist in a frequent manner and mocked online by the Japanese social feeds.
You do realize for example the US military stationed in Okinawa has had multiple incidents in the past where they killed locals right? All this adds fuel to the people hating Western tourists that don’t even have the basic levels of etiquette that a Japanese child would have been taught. You are not winning the hearts and minds of the people by ignoring signs to take photos to satisfy your personal desires.
Stop talking when you have zero clue of what is actually going on in Japan and how certain Japanese businesses feel over Westerners on their land after decades of incidents.
Not hard in 2024 to check online and do 5 min of research if you never been there yourself. It got so bad in some areas (such as when a fat French man came and refused to leave when politely told restaurant was closed by Japanese owner, but still refused to leave. He has since banned tourists from being served.) Just comes across as plain ignorant that just adds to the stereotypical image of how Westerners portray themselves.
My Switch OLED works fine just as before. Fans are normal. Sleep mode is normal. Downloads are normal. Battery consumption is normal. Boot up is normal.
Are we sure it’s not a specific model having issues like the launch version of the Switch?
Western foreigner tourist acting like they are in their own home due to lack of class. Tale as old as time.
You wonder why Japanese locals has poor impression of Western guests that some businesses even put up signs banning tourists because someone ruined it for everyone else.
Just looking at half this comment section going “screw rules lol” just proves my point why rules exist in the first place.
Gave WAY more info for what the game was actually about. A mugshot boxart doesn’t really tell me anything. Is this gonna be an otome prison game or something?
FYI it’s not even just about the score. An outlier review score on its own isn’t a bad thing itself
If it was scored 6/10, but the review itself had detailed reasons why it should have got the score then at least I can see where maybe reviewer was coming from.
Hell even the summary section at the end makes it even more confusing to figure out since just by once glance you would think it would be a typical 8/10.
The issue why this review is being heavily criticized is the actual criticisms in the review itself feels largely glossed over and vague. People are confused why it tanked the score this much as a result. Like what was the scoring criteria for this?
It’s fine to have different opinions, but some people expect more professionalism on a review so it’s taken more seriously as a source of “should I get this game or not?” that people often use reviews for. Especially when “critic” reviews are supposed to be placed at a higher pedestal than normal user reviews. It’s not even just with this game, but several in the past. It’s not simply downplayed as “you just didn’t agree with me.”
Also it doesn’t matter if NL considers 6/10 as “Not bad” when that is far from what the common consensus for how a 6/10 (or for other critics a 60/100) is generally viewed which is on the lower end of “good” at best especially with how gamers are obsessed with Metacritic scores. Hell 6/10s has a stigma of “you barely didn’t fail”.
Speaking of 6/10s though and the argument of “it’s not a big deal it doesn’t mean it’s bad!” keep in mind you rarely see any actual new Nintendo 1st parties get that score with that thinking and that even includes highly controversial Nintendo games like Scarlet/Violet which still got a higher 7/10 on NL so this again goes back to “NL may benefit from getting more non Nintendo gamer bias reviewers”.
What are they smoking? Healthy state? Old ports is “healthy” for franchise that had no new game since what? A decade?
You know what an actual series that got more healthy lately? Metroid. They actually got a new 2D Metroid after years of nothing with Dread (which was greatly received) and soon even a new prime game on top of that while still getting ports.
Another case where the summary + score doesn’t sound like they match. Big list of pros and the cons is filled with smaller weirder complaints, but apparently that is enough to tank the score.
That 6/10, would expect the Switch port job was unplayable trash (which ironically is the opposite since it plays fine), but no it was just full with…weird complaints to put it mildly…If Switch gets more ports you might want to grab someone else. FYI Yakuza 1 is one of the weaker entires of the series, but not 6/10 levels of weak. 7.5 at the lowest easy.
If Yakuza 0 gets ported (considered one of the best in the series) I have a feeling if they go in just like with this review they might just give a 7 at best lol.
@dskatter
Yup this was the moment that pretty much told me “they should have got someone else to review this.” if something like that filters you lol. Yakuza games are narrative driven. What do you expect? Just mindless fighting all the time like a Musou?
Strong Mario Party game launch as expected did amazing. Perhaps even more than usual considering it did 200k+ right off the bat and not even counting expected great legs for it yet.
Switch has another 50k+ week while PS5 has a constant battle whether it can break 10k or not
Echos still hanging around with legs at almost a month.
As expected Metaphor along with Sparking and SH2 remake was super front loaded with significant drops. Wouldn’t be surprising if all three disappears next week.
@Johnny44 You don’t understand. Sales went from just under 10k to around 12k~! The Sony surge in Japan is real! No doubt SH2 remake and the not-Persona game will save the PS5 in Japan and give Nintendo a spanking next week!
If you are still doubtful then wait for that one user to pop up here that short posts four times in a row in a short interval for why Nintendo is gonna fail and Sony is gonna turn things around with all of the faulty comparisons you can think of!

Re: Switch System Update 19.0.0 Is Apparently Causing Some Issues
My Switch OLED works fine just as before. Fans are normal. Sleep mode is normal. Downloads are normal. Battery consumption is normal. Boot up is normal.
Are we sure it’s not a specific model having issues like the launch version of the Switch?
Re: Nintendo Museum Overseas Visitors Reportedly Breaking 'No Photos' Rule
Western foreigner tourist acting like they are in their own home due to lack of class. Tale as old as time.
You wonder why Japanese locals has poor impression of Western guests that some businesses even put up signs banning tourists because someone ruined it for everyone else.
Just looking at half this comment section going “screw rules lol” just proves my point why rules exist in the first place.
Re: Freedom Wars Remastered Japanese Switch Box Art Revealed, Here's A First Look
Original Vita one was better.
Gave WAY more info for what the game was actually about. A mugshot boxart doesn’t really tell me anything. Is this gonna be an otome prison game or something?
Re: Review: Yakuza Kiwami (Switch) - A Decent Port Of An Ambitious, Frustrating Game
Re: Alleged Concept Art From Cancelled Donkey Kong Project Emerges
What are they smoking? Healthy state? Old ports is “healthy” for franchise that had no new game since what? A decade?
You know what an actual series that got more healthy lately? Metroid. They actually got a new 2D Metroid after years of nothing with Dread (which was greatly received) and soon even a new prime game on top of that while still getting ports.
Re: Rumour: A Rayman Remake May Be On The Cards At Ubisoft
Ubisoft in panic mode and don’t surprise me if they were on the “throw nostalgia” phase in a desperate attempt to gain back some good will.
Re: Rumour: Nintendo To Lean On Third-Parties For Switch Support In 2025
Hopefully 3rd parties learned their lesson after the Switch gen with how stupid most of them were at ignoring it until way later.
Re: Review: Yakuza Kiwami (Switch) - A Decent Port Of An Ambitious, Frustrating Game
@Lightsiyd SwitchUP in general has always been a better place for Switch game reviews. They even review games again after some critical patches land.
Re: Review: Yakuza Kiwami (Switch) - A Decent Port Of An Ambitious, Frustrating Game
@dskatter
Yup this was the moment that pretty much told me “they should have got someone else to review this.” if something like that filters you lol. Yakuza games are narrative driven. What do you expect? Just mindless fighting all the time like a Musou?
Re: Japanese Charts: Ain't No Party Like A Mario Party
Re: Japanese Charts: Zelda Gets Booted Off The Podium As Metaphor Arrives In Style
Curious how the upcoming Party game does.
Re: Super Mario Party Jamboree Has Reportedly Leaked Online
And people here actually act like Nintendo are the unreasonable ones lol.
Re: Yakuza Kiwami Dev Confirms Physical Switch Release, Limited Run Distributing
lol. Can they not bankroll physicals for Sega games if it’s not Sonic now? Little reason not to wait for a sale now.
Re: Japanese Charts: Zelda: Echoes Of Wisdom Summons Up Another Win
FYI top 30 has Ring Fit. A game with actual leg work both literally and figuratively.
Re: Japanese Charts: Zelda: Echoes Of Wisdom Summons Up Another Win
@Johnny44 You don’t understand. Sales went from just under 10k to around 12k~! The Sony surge in Japan is real! No doubt SH2 remake and the not-Persona game will save the PS5 in Japan and give Nintendo a spanking next week!
If you are still doubtful then wait for that one user to pop up here that short posts four times in a row in a short interval for why Nintendo is gonna fail and Sony is gonna turn things around with all of the faulty comparisons you can think of!
Re: Forget 'Switch 2', Nintendo Has Just Revealed An Official Alarm Clock
Tick Tock! Tick Tock! It’s time for the waste-money side thing before real thing
