Re: The Switch 2's Screen Isn't OLED, But It Will Support 1080p/120fps Gameplay

Arawn93

Yeah expected no OLED which sucks. 100% expect them to sell the OLED model later down the line. People here gaslighting that there isn’t much difference between LCD and OLED clearly never played the original Switch/Lite then hopped into the OLED.

Difference was night and day + OLED has improved battery life efficiency. Really curious what the battery life for Switch 2 is.

Re: 'Mario Kart World' Looks Absolutely Awesome In Debut Switch 2 Trailer

Arawn93

People getting mad because it doesn’t look like a PS5 Pro game where you can see Mario sweating set themselves up for failure at that start.

Looking forward to seeing the sale numbers of this game. You don’t need top of the line graphics to be considered a sequel. You offer enough new game content and twists which from this trailer they accomplished.

Re: UK Charts: A Strong Xenoblade Debut Can't Escape Assassin's Creed's Shadow

Arawn93

Shadows was disappointing as a long time AC fan. Especially for how highly demanded a Japan themed AC was for many years. Not gonna rant on specifics what has already been said ages ago.

Like it’s an “OK” 7/10 if you put all the controversies (boy was there a lot of them to the point that one of the patches had to remedy this along with the previous delay) aside when it should have been a 10/10 homerun after all that time (two hours of credits worth) and budget (well into nine figures like Concord) put in + the popular feudal Japan setting theme commercial

I just rather play Ghosts or Ronin in comparison for a Japan setting action game. Black Flag felt like the last genuinely good AC game to me. Doesn't matter what I feel about it regardless in the end though.

Ubisoft is cooked regardless (those stocks still nose diving despite the weekend now passing) because it wasn’t the mega commercial hit (notice how they keep avoiding “sales” but mention “players” because of their subscription system?) they needed to offset all those flops and cancels.

It’s same pattern as what happened with Outlaws and other projects. Pretend like it’s a mega hit to trick shareholders.

Re: Nintendo's Monolith Soft Updates Its Switch Portfolio With Latest Release

Arawn93

Monolith was an actual valuable acquisition unlike lot of these past acquisitions in the industry that largely turned out to be a disaster like FireWalk for starters.

Not only do they make good games, but they HELP OUT other high profile projects like Animal Crossing, Splatoon, and the BotW games. Monolith actually experienced gradual growth for every successful game they made which I feel the snowball really started to grow once Xenoblade 2 was a commercial success.

Re: 'Persona 4 Reload' Seems Imminent, But We Still Need The Third Entry

Arawn93

@ZombieCorps Man what are you talking about? P4G came out 13 years ago (thanks for making me feel older) with the original release even further away. P4G wasn’t even a remake, but an enhanced port from the original PS2 version.

By that logic why make P3R when it “already” had P3P AND FES? P3R finished product was significantly different than either of those versions.

As for what they could do? That is easy. From top of head using literally P3R as reference

  • Update on the character models, setting, etc so it doesn’t look like a PS2 game anymore (FYI Golden looked like a PS2 game because it was literally built off it.) and more closer to P5 levels.
  • Update the Combat mechanics so it’s closer to P5 levels. Light and dark + baton passes for starters.
  • More social activities with your party members that is completely separate from social links (Link episodes.)
  • Here is a popular demanded request: Improve the dungeon designs so it’s not so plain/recycling. The weakest part of P4 was the bleh dungeons. Improve the Yukiko dungeon for starters so I’m not just seeing red carpet the entire time.
  • Add ability to fight other protagonists like they did in P5R and P3R for more “challenge content”.
  • More QoL improvements/additions since there is a lot they can add after 13 years

I feel people forgot that P4G was originally a VITA release not a Steam release so it gives the illusion that it’s more “new” than it actually is.

Re: 'Persona 4 Reload' Seems Imminent, But We Still Need The Third Entry

Arawn93

Atlus would lose easy money if they didn’t port even after the Switch 2 launch.

P3R wasn’t a very resource demanding game. Steam Deck could play it fine and Steam Deck at this point is on the low end of PC specs.

Like seriously it’s a turn based JRPG with heavy story visual novel segments. Highly doubt P4R will be much different.

Some people acting like it’s the latest Final Fantasy game and “impossible port” territory like how people here parroted for years for how P5 for Switch 1 was “impossible” until it happened and was more then playable surprise surprise after my 120+ playthough.

Re: PSA: Xenoblade Chronicles X: Definitive Edition Has Reportedly Leaked Online

Arawn93

Yet people cry about WHY Nintendo is so aggressive against pirating like they always go after the little guy that wants to play a game that came out 20 years ago and not being sold.

Yes there are digital copies floating around as usual. Also people here going “lol spoilers of old game guys!” while being completely ignorant that the game has a good amount of new story content

Re: Nintendo San Francisco Is Getting A "Grand Opening" In May

Arawn93

As others saying it’s opening in the “safer” part of San Fran, but it’s not like Union Square never got hit by thefts/vandalism before. Parts of it is still nasty with homeless, trash, and drug addicts that will try to stab you.

Luckily California seems to be going back to anti-crime again (at least for CA standards. There are videos of crying thieves that thought the theft blanket was still in effect so that is at least a start.) so hopefully it’s more of a deterrent for people to leave the store alone and not attract emboldened idiots that just ride their bicycle inside, grab as much as they can, then ride their bicycle out as everyone just watches aka what San Fran had to deal with for years.

It’s not “politics” to want a once great city for residents and tourists that somehow can bounce back from one of the worst earthquakes ever, (but apparently powerless against criminals and cleaning the place up) to get away from its current garbage status.

Can’t wait to read some posters that never been to CA let alone live in San Francisco insist the place is “beautiful” and “safe” like in the previous article on this story.

Re: Skullgirls Dev Is Off The Game, Taking Legal Action Against Publisher

Arawn93

I mean it’s Skullgirls what do you expect? Decade+ worth of controversies at this point. Considering their recent history of throwing each other under the bus/whistleblowing it was bound to happen eventually.

The original creator Alex Ahad and the lead developer for most of its development Mike Zaimont (two biggest reasons why Skullgirls blew up as much as it did) isn’t even involved with the game anymore so at this point I don’t really care either way.

Re: Metroid Prime Remastered Studio 'Iron Galaxy' Confirms Lay Offs

Arawn93

I get lot of people here only heard about them because of Metroid Prime Remaster, but IG has been struggling since they were done with Killer Instinct 3 living off Microsoft paychecks many years ago.

When they made their actual own games it flopped/barely had any success and got stuck with port jobs of various levels of inconsistent success.

This is hardly a “Nintendo is at fault!” if you looked at IG track record. If anything IG should be thanking Nintendo for giving them the paycheck gig to begin with. Which IG has thanked them for if you looked up the Post release Metroid Prime Remaster tweets.

Nintendo is not at fault for a 3rd party struggling after they left. By that logic Microsoft was at “fault” first since the Killer Instinct days.

Re: Here Are The Top Ten Best-Selling Nintendo Switch Games As Of December 2024

Arawn93

At the end of the day as much as people hype up Arceus as a “high quality” Pokemon game….it also had a more niche audience target. S/V is a real mainstream audience Pokemon game and what is more it’s open world. It already nearly passed over Sword/Shield which I expect will happen by next update at this rate.

Children (target audience) and most adults are not gonna complain about bugs or subpar frame rate if the game functions fine (which it does objectively speaking. You can complete the game.). Hell most of the people that DID complain online ended up buying the game anyway so yeah I don’t blame them for them not “changing” if their audience is that loyal/weak willed that they can get away with stuff that companies like Ubisoft can’t.

Re: Nintendo's Switch 2 Announcement Reportedly Impacted Steam Deck Sales

Arawn93

I said this before, but Steam Deck and Switch has very little (if at all) audience overlap. Their audience scale is also not remotely comparable.

Steam Deck sales also was inevitably gonna start dipping down after the enthusiasts got them while more and more modern release AAA games keep dropping that struggles hard on a Steam deck that you have to severely gimp down the settings to run semi well.

Lot of Valve fans want them to announce a SD 2 already, but Valve already said it’s gonna be at least another generation off.

Re: Opinion: The Hyped-Up New Pokémon TCG Set Is A Total Bummer To Open

Arawn93

@1UP-HUSKY It’s not crazy because people been obsessed about cardboard for decades. It’s a wealth flex for enthusiast collectors. People did this with baseball cards before. If you’re in the upper salary bracket then $1400 is barely an inconvenience if at all. Wealthy people got even more worthless crap at a higher pricetag.

If these people never existed decades ago until today then card scalpers wouldn’t be treating this as a viable side hustle.

Re: Sonic's Third Movie Outing Gets A Speedy Digital Release This Week

Arawn93

@Rob3008 You replied to a comment from weeks ago when data back then doesn’t reflect data today I hope you realized that.

In context it was referring to Domestic (Which Sonic 3 was beating Mufassa at quite badly at the time and Mufassa reportedly heavily missed their domestic projections) until international markets rolled in (which Sonic 3 international releases were later compared to Mufassa as well so initial domestic lead Sonic 3 had disappeared quick.)

Mufassa also had higher expectations considering the last movie did well over a billion so this is a notable decrease of performance despite how bloated the budget (over twice/almost three times of Sonic 3) was.

Mufassa wasn’t a flop since it still landed in the 600~ range, but Sonic 3 did more profit wise with 70~ million than Mufassa did with 200~ million is the current takeaway as of now.

Re: Random: Astro Bot "Almost Outdid Nintendo At Its Own Game", Jokes Reggie

Arawn93

Nah, but I get the recency bias. Sony needs to get more platformer experience again in recent times to consistently be at Nintendo level.

More Astrobot type platformer focus projects and less industry trend chasing Concord type flops then I can see it being genuine competition for Nintendo. What good is it if Sony treats it like the current “once or twice a generation”.

Re: Poll: So, How Would You Feel About 24 Racers In Mario Kart 9?

Arawn93

I don’t see what is wrong with 24.

That still seems very doable if that is gonna be the standard for Kart racing online. It’s not hard to find people. It’s Mario Kart.

You can boot up a game of MK8D right now and get games. MK8D is OLD. MK9 probably gonna be the most played racer for awhile when it launches.

It also adds to the fun chaos which is the point of Mario Kart. This isn’t Forza.
