Update #2 []: The Verge has managed to extract Switch 2 measurements from Dbrand CEO Adam Ijaz, who says he took them from a "3D scan of the real hardware."
According to Ijaz, the Switch 2's dimensions are as follows:
- Width (with Joy-Con): 270mm
- Width (without Joy-Con): 200mm
- Height: 116mm
- Thickness: 14mm
For comparison's sake, the current Switch OLED model measures:
- Width (with Joy-Con): 242mm
- Height: 102mm
- Thickness: 13.9mm
Dbrand's CEO adds that Joy-Con appear to connect to the console magnetically, which backs up previous reports. So sure is the company of this that it has even designed its Switch 2 case so that the Joy-Con can be removed without removing the console from the case itself.
Ijaz also confirms the existence of a square button below the Home button, marked with the letter C, but he is unsure of what it's purpose is.
Update #1 []:
Well, this is pretty bold — Dbrand's CEO has told InsiderGaming that the image of the device in the case is that of the actual Switch 2.
If that's true, then it really does seem like the Switch 2 isn't going to diverge from the OG Switch much at all.
More on the potential case and console below...
Original Story: Canadian accessory manufacturer Dbrand — known for its controversial social media stunts — has shared images of what it claims is a case for the upcoming successor to the Nintendo Switch.
As VGC reports, the company shared a teaser for the case on Thursday on X (formerly Twitter) along with the statement "We will not be answering any questions at this time."
Now, however, it's not only posted a handful of images of the case but also a link to a product page. The page has a translucent rotating render of the case with a console inside it along with the word Switch 2 KillSwitch.
The case itself is in line with many of the rumours that have been floating around, including the extra button on the right Joy-Con next to the Home button. And, on the render, you can see hexadecimal code which VGC converted to text — it says "why are you decrypting this".
If you go to the website's menu, there's even a section under Gaming and Nintendo for Switch 2, but it doesn't currently lead anywhere.
Of course, given Dbrand's history — such as releasing a Clone of the Kingdom decal for the Switch right around the time Nintendo's own Tears of the Kingdom OLED dropped, which has (via VGC) "go f*** yourself lawyers" written in code on the dock — this may well just be a way of them poking the bear.
But the case reveal does follow on from a number of potential reveals and rumours that have popped up over the past few weeks. Last week, Chinese vendors started listing supposed Switch 2 accessories for sale online. And earlier this week, a 3D printed model was sent to SwitchUp, potential images of the upcoming console were spotted by fans in a trailer, and rumours that the Switch 2 will support of Samsung MicroSD cards popped up.
Time will tell, though it's looking extremely likely we won't find anything official out until 2025. And hey, Nintendo did acknowledge the future in a sizzle reel at The Game Awards yesterday, saying "there's more to come."

I'm wondering how they're allowed to reveal the console like this. Especially if Nintendo hasn't showcased the thing yet.
Sad times, everyone but Nintendo has revealed it.
I don't understand the shape of this, why does it bulge out so much for the joy-cons, and then swoop in where the screen would be...the joy-cons aren't going to stick up out of the top above the screen are they?
man, it seems like anybody who can make a 3D model of Switch 2 based on rumors can get an article about it these days, maybe I should make one
Now we're grasping at straws here
What's kind of interesting is the position of the left stick (and "D-pad") compared to the Wii U and Switch(1) and right stick and (ABXY buttons).
Edit: or maybe it's just upside down (though then the + and - buttons would have relocated)
Man is trying to speed run license revocation
Hope the 15 minutes of fame are worth it
dont blame them tbh, waiting for Nintendo to have the right timing on showing this bloody thing that is visually ready for ages is liek watching paint dry. Just do it. Someone else had to because nintendo wouldnt. There is being a tease and then there is being a bore. Nintendo just keeps dragging it
@shgamer It's mirrored for some reason.
So the screen is taller than the joy con's, now that's just strange if it's real.
YOU leaked the switch 2, HE leaked the switch 2, I leaked the switch 2!!! Are there any OTHER switch 2 leakers I should know about?!
I'm gonna laugh so hard if Nintendo finally reveals the next system and it looks NOTHING like all of these leaks that are happening. xD
Another day...
(Make the comment longer text)
Nintendo are not going to be happy with the D-Brand CEO.
@AmplifyMJ Not boring at all. Pretty good in fact.
Edit - I thought the back was the actual console but it's just the case. Meh, still pretty boring.
So they moved the home button to the left joycon. That’s terrible. Why???
someone explain to me how this wouldnt be a "switch pro," 3 or 4 years late
Yea, that’s not real.
The thumbs sticks and buttons are in the wing places. If you disconnect those Journ, you’ll be using your right thumb on the stick and left on the buttons. Or flip it over and have to press the shoulder buttons with your pinkies…
If this is the final design, Nintendo's marketing department have really got their work cut out for them. It's going to need hell of a gimmick to get the average consumer to upgrade.
If it looks this close to the OG Switch, then I think they will have a similar problem that they had with Wii/Wii U. People (parents, grand parents etc) will think this is just the same machine, only slightly upgraded with a bigger screen.
I think going for something that works is okay (no need to reinvent the wheel), but it should be unique in the way it looks at least.
Anything for a bit of attention.
I've never seen such a concerted effort to try to force a company to officially (fully) announce something.
Speaking for myself so I'm not saying it hasn't happened, just that I haven't seen/noticed it. Just pre-empting any replies where people insist that I'm trying to pass off perception as reality.
Oh and this company is apparently known for being troll-ish. It's easy to disregard the "confirmation."
Would be so funny if Nintendo showed Switch 2 and it was a pure home console looking like a new sort of game Cube.
Won’t happen but fun.
@BoFiS the thumbsticks are the highest point. The case sits above the joycons rather than just moulding over them. I quite like the case...assuming of course any of this is real. Very much looks like a Switch V3 rather than Switch 2...
I really don't know why some people are so upset with these rumors. It's fun to me and not that serious. I just want to know how true they were when the console is officially revealed. If you don't like these articles why comment? Just keep scrolling
@Vlash I think the naming is particularly important.
Everyone understands the PS4 or PS5. Strangely many understand the XBOX series nomenclature. If the call it a Switch 2, that will be it set
Real 3d printed Switch 2 model CEO forgot to mension ...
@VoidofLight sometimes I wonder if Nintendo is completely aware of viral marketing and gave them a pass. Even as a kid waiting for Ocarina of Time, or a little older with the Revolution/Wii, the speculations and rumors would drive up the hype.
Come to think of it, the Wii U was the only time that didn't happen for me.
"It's a secret to everybody."
I'm still more interested in the new dock. Hoping it does something more than just allow it to work on the TV etc...
I'll only play it at home on the TV.
And of course it'll look similar to the Switch. The 3D printed prototypes they have here are so they can design the cases in preparation.
Roll on the full reveal next year.
No, they are not saying it's an actual Switch 2, they're saying it's the actual DESIGN of the Switch 2. So another 3d print.
Did you flip this image? The (+) Joy-con with the joystick lower and the extra (C) button is shown on the left side.
On the Dbrand website the case is shown rotating all over the place, but it shows the + and - Joy-Cons on the correct sides. It looks like for this article's image someone took a screenshot while it was upside-down, and then rather than rotating it 180 degrees, they vertically mirrored it.
@EightyTwoStu It looks right if you take the image and flip it horizontally, so that the blue is on the left side of the image.
@burndive Looks like they accidentally left it mirrored when trying to show the right rotation
The Switch 2 doesn’t really need to diverge from Switch 1 in terms of overall design and economics. It’s a pretty solid design that so many have tried to copy like Steam, Asus, MSI, and Lenovo.
It basically just needs to pack more power and ability than Switch 1.
Also to those thinking this would lead to another Wii U issue, not if they brand and advertise correctly. Wii / Wii U was a marketing disaster even though the systems look different. Whereas IPhone hasn’t changed design much since the initial Iphone. Just bigger, better screens, better cams, better internals, etc. but the look is still mostly the same.
People are use to branding like IPhone 1-16, or PlayStation 1-5. Tossing letters in, or making up new numbers like Xbox to Xbox 360, confuses matters. Doubly so if you fail to advertise and market correctly. Something Nintendo did, where MS managed to communicate the 360 was a beast of an upgrade over original Xbox, causing it to sell like wildfire.
I hope not but to me it looks like it's some kind of portable dock... I hope "Switch 2" isn't some kind of enhancing peripheral in the vein of 64DD or the Expansion Pak or others like 32x or even the SNES Playstation or whatever it was supposed to be called. I'm fairly certain I've heard other things Nintendo was trying to do with the likes of even the NES and GameCube and even the Wii, but can't remember off the top of my head if they were true or just rumors.
I've got an OG Switch. The battery is flagging and my backlog staring at me. I for one would like Nintendo to get on with it and take my money with the Switch 2.
@AllBLK I don’t get it either. Rumours are fun and it’s really not difficult to not take them seriously.
It’s possible Nintendo sent out hollow shells to 3rd party accessory manufacturers so this could both technically be and not be Switch 2. It’s Schrödinger’s Switch 2. 😎
@BoFiS doubt the joycons will stick out but the sticks will just like the OG switch.
@smithyo dragging it out is entirely their right.
Maybe grown adults should have a little more patience than a 5 year old waiting for their Happy Meal.
@PinballBuzzbro “Meow…”
@MrCarlos46 I thought that, but then the +/- buttons on the wrong side.
@xenobladexfan my nan and her dog revealed it last week!
@VoidofLight Hype building for Nintendo
@Dee123 Nah, Nintendo Switch 2 is a meme at this point. It's almost taken them as long as it took Gearbox to release Duke Nukem Forever. And we all know how that turned out. It was out of fashion upon release
So this was the one.
of course its DBrand lol
@Sylamp always here spreading the sunshine.
The reason why many people are not believing that this is real is because the "Switch 2" looks exactly like the original Switch.
But what if the successor will be in fact very similar to the original, in terms of appearance?
Will fans accept the truth or reject reality and substitute their own?
@-wc- It totally is. But later Nvidia GPU architectures aren't backwards compatible with Maxwell used in Switch 1. So it's fair to call it 'Switch 2' and a new generation. Nintendo would have had to write a translation layer to get backwards compatibility to work.
Third party partners: If we keep making stuff up about the Switch 2, it will eventually come true.
@EightyTwoStu It can get pretty confusing when they just leave it mirrored
@Dm9982 Since it’s not really gonna look extremely different from the original Switch, the Switch 2 is actually a pretty fine name choice, especially to avoid another Wii U situation.
I won’t even be upset if the Switch 2 ends up looking like a Switch but with an improved aesthetic and some new buttons. It’s the internals and new features that make it stand out from the original, along with its lineup of launch games.
This is absolutely what the Switch 2 will look like. This is, like, the sixth leak with this exact design from the last few months. It's exactly the same as the original but a lot bigger, with a new C button on the right joy-con and magnetic joy-cons. So pretty much what we've expected all year.
The dimensions are interesting, it's the same height as the Steam Deck and only an inch less wide, the screen is 8 inches vs. 7.4, and it's much thinner and less ergonomic.
@Savage_Joe Ahh, so effectively they’re not scared of getting sued and are leaking the console in a way that gives them plausible deniability.
@smithyo You're right, they've only spent years and hundreds of millions in R&D on the development. Internet randos should get to decide when it's revealed, definitely.
It's not like Nintendo is coordinating millions of units for a simultaneous worldwide launch or anything. Usually something like that takes, like, planning and stuff.
They should pull a Saturn with this thing and just shove it in stores as a surprise, that seems to be what everybody wants... That's not how you make a successful console, but I guess that doesn't matter as much as "ME BORED NOW."
@PinballBuzzbro THIS IS SUCH A STRONG REFERENCE TO THE SPONGEBOB EPISODE OF SQUIDWARD TRYING TO SELL HIS HOUSE
@Ravenmaster What kind compariso-
OK, Duke Nukem Forever had a massive trailer at E3 1998.
Then ANOTHER big trailer at E3 2001.
Then a teaser in 2007.
Comparing that to an officially-unannounced console is extremely disingenuous and misleading. Nintendo's said a handful of things in the ONE YEAR leadup to the system's release, which is 100% consistent with how they've approached every system of theirs (except Revolution/Wii which was two years before release, because GC was doing so poorly).
This reads like a child's tantrum that mommy isn't getting them a toy at the store...
Okay Nintendo. Let’s just get this over with please.
Yeah at this point, we all know what it's going to be. Now I just want to see the software! What launch titles will be ready out of the gate, and what will the game roadmap look like for the rest of the year? That is the only thing I care about at this point. C'mon Nintendo!
@Ulysses 3D Mario and/or new Zelda could be part of the launch lineup
That reminds me: Will the Switch 2 Joy-Con straps, grip and dock look somewhat different than the ones from the original Switch?
It's really funny to me how there have been leaks on leaks of the Switch 2, and they all look pretty much the same, and yet people are on here saying "nah, no way, grasping at straws". Bruh, what's it gonna take? Nintendo is going to unveil the thing, it's going to look exactly the same, and everyone is just going to carry on pretending we haven't known what it looks like for months? That they were all just lucky guesses?
@Ironcore Nintendo are taking way to long to reveal the console, informed gamers have known about the console for years, I first heard of the rumours late 2022.
They should have unveiled it in October this year.
I'm starting to feel resemblances between BOTW / TOTK and Switch / Switch 2 releases regarding expectations.
haha all those third party companies laugh about how easy it is to get free Advertisement on the biggest Nintendo website. just make a fake mockup and tell everyone it's the real thing. why should those companies have information like this so long before the actual thing is coming out? it makes no sense
@WhensDinner
you say it already the look pretty much the same but they always have slight differences. it's naive to believe those images are real in a time of ai and 3d printing. for those third party companies it's free advertising...
I don't see the issue with the Switch 2 just being a more powerful Switch. Nintendo has done that in the past(NES -> SNES, Gameboy/GBC - > GBA, DS -> 3DS) and Sony has been doing that with all of their systems(similar looking controllers from them too).
Switch 2 will be fine if it has good marketing and exclusives. Which, judging by the current Switch, it will certainly get.
@LikelySatan sorry but I'm just annoyed that any websites are giving stuff like this attention, this shouldn't even count as a rumor, this is just someone making s*** up just so people notice them
plus given all the comments Nintendo made about the successor it's pretty obvious that it's going to look similar to Switch 1 so I don't get why people want to see how it looks right now, it's everything else about the console that would be more interesting to see
Removed - flaming/arguing
Oh the CEO said it came from real specs! That changes all!
...
Seriously how naive can you be?
Hahahah. This is just marketing. Oh wait the CEO of a one man business said it so it must be true...🤡
Please nintendo make the design in such a way that it doesnt fit in their case 🤣
Okay, so what is this in REAL measurements?
According to Ijaz, the Switch 2's dimensions are as follows:
Width (with Joy-Con): 270mm
Width (without Joy-Con): 200mm
Height: 116mm
Thickness: 14mm
For comparison's sake, the current Switch OLED model measures:
Width (with Joy-Con): 242mm
Height: 102mm
Thickness: 13.9mm
If it really looks like the leaks, there's no real surprise for Nintendo to reveal anyway, at least as far as the form factor is concerned. So I can understand why they're delaying the announcement as much as possible.
The more interesting info are the system specs and the games.
Something smells around here.
@BoFiS
"I don't understand the shape of this, why does it bulge out so much for the joy-cons, and then swoop in where the screen would be...the joy-cons aren't going to stick up out of the top above the screen are they?"
Good question.
Some possible reasons:
On the other hand one would think they would make the case as small as possible since this is a handheld device and a rather large one at that..
Magnetic Joy con's 😬, that's not what I wanted to hear especially as I now can't use any of my existing joy con collection. These magnets better be very strong.
What I'm most surprised about these (possible) leaks of the Switch 2 are the colours of the joy-cons. They are exactly the same as the joy-cons for the (main editions of) Switch / Switch OLED:
Some thoughts for possible explanations:
1. These are just 3D printed by the leakers (from possible official CAD) and the companies/people 3D printing them just pick the Switch/Switch OLED colours to make them look more official. (A dark grey one did have some electronics inside though.)
2. Nintendo picked the colours and gave these out with Switch/Switch OLED colours so that if it leaks it will look pretty much like the Switch 1 – and the real colours for Switch 2 are still kept a secret until launch.
3. Nintendo are actually going with the same colours as with Switch and Switch OLED because they have become iconic and part of the Switch image.
(Though I would think it would be a better marketing strategy to go with something new to make the Switch 2 look more different from the Switch out in the wild, especially since the shape of the console is pretty much the same for Switch and Switch 2 – sure Switch 2 is much bigger if these are the real size, but from a distance or in advertising one would not necessarily see the difference.)
Don't think this is worth the potential consequences assuming they aren't just lying (I'd say it's more likely true than not, but of course we'll just have to see)...
Anyway, I agree with those saying that it doesn't matter if the successor more or less looks like Switch, what matters is how they name and market it, the exclusives at launch etc. - still expect at least one "gimmick" though since we're talking about Nintendo!
If this is real, DBrand are gonna get sued hard by Nintendo. I hope the 5 minutes of fame was worth it.
Nintendo, it’s time to reveal the successor… leaks will keep happening and by the time of the reveal people will know everything about it.
Will be like the switch with a few adjustments and more power. Not much new there.
For me it is the release day games that count and I’m hoping, actually expecting something massive things there as Nintendo home studios have been so quiet.
See the console is the console, it’s the games that make me buy it day one.
Not sure Dbrand need to worry so much about the lawyers... I'd be worrying about potential customers avoiding your products.
I certainly won't be buying anything from them. Bad business practice catches up with you eventually. Not sure why anyone would want to work under a CEO like this.
Also, people labelling this a "leak". That's a bit generous isn't it? This is a company, who incidentally make a great deal of money via Nintendo's products, going on some power trip and behaving like absolute tools. I'd call it a "weak". Weak practice from a weak company led by a weak CEO! Haha
If this really is it I am quite disappointed. Even with the rumoured rotating triggers, I can't see that it's different enough to be as successful as the OG Switch, even with great games.
I think it will probably be more of a moderate success like the 3DS than a Wii U sized failure though.
@Lofoten How about pastel colors for Switch 2 Joy-Cons this time rather than neon colors
For the record I'm still calling bs on the current leaks let's see if I'm right
It will be so interesting to see the day when Nintendo finally thinks that it's the time to unveil their next console for real.
To see if all those "leaked" pictures of "Switch 2" were real or just faked bogus. I wouldn't gets surprised if it actually looks very differently like with allt hose fake NX pictures.
If it's indeed different, so I hope that every youtubers and twitters & others who posted faked rumors, leaks or pictures loses all of their cred. But sadly people will continue to believe in everything on internet in the future.
They had been lying and getting wrong for every day since 2018 with "Switch Pro" and "Switch 2" now, yet so many blindly follows them day after day...
Nothing is true until when Nintendo by themselves reveals it for the real then. Nintendo is always being Nintendo in the end. "Switch 2" may be a full blown handheld or just a stationary console. They almost always confuses us in the end.
Also don't forget that those youtubers & co fakes constantly, because it's their jo to feeding us with lies to getting more attention and gaining more subscribers, which means even more riches for them.
They have zero shame since it's their livelihood and job.
I has now seen literally +1000 different versions of faked "Switch 2" pictures for now, and almost everyone still believes in everything....
I mean, it doesn't make a lot of sense for several reasons. Maybe it's a stunt involving Friday the 13th? Like April Fools? I don't know it just seems too fake and outlandish to me.
I hope Dbrand can get sued over this if it turns out to be real, not only they violated an NDA but they are all cocky about it.
Attention wh..e ?
Not cool for them to be revealing this stuff ahead of the official announcement, if they are indeed doing that. I wouldn't have bought their product anyway, but they're now on my list of companies to forever avoid.
@Keman Would be somehow very funny if somehow the Switch 2 ends up using the XDS design
But I won’t be upset if it doesn’t because we already know what it’ll end up being, considering the Switch has proven to be very successful and I love its hybrid form factor
@N00BiSH or maybe it’s a Straw that’s grasping (the writer of the Insider Gaming article is Mike Straw. Lol)
@-wc- The Switch as a platform needs to be replaced. The entry model is now too weak to justify a more powerful pro version that merely plays the same games but enhanced. 50% more power makes sense 3 years in. 8 years in it better be 300% more powerful. It would have to be a new platform. Or they could be like Apple and just make it that new games just won't run on the old stuff. I feel it would need to be digital only then so people aren't buying carts that won't run. Nintendo are conservative though, so they will go with a new platform as it makes retail simple. Switch Pro will just have to be thought of as a scrapped idea.
Needle d energy from this guy. Definitely wouldn't buy anything from them for that alone.
so funny all these speculations, before every single launch and timeline. one more uglier. and dull then another. just for clicks or followers.
accept.
nintendo never leaks
this is just stupid🤷♂️
@ArcticEcho
this is what i stated.
although i speculate, i can't imagine someting considered as a nextgen thing in the concept of a hybrid console. too expensive, it gets too anti nintendo bulky.
i was more spuleculating some sort of more powerful console with the switch as streaming device. later on a new streaming handheld as aditional hardware, but first a new console.
basicly ps5/ps portal concept.
nintendo just need to target 4k, as the device has to outlast.
I almost start to think that Nintendo is waiting for the leaks, and if one of those “real Switches” look good, they make one exactly the same.
Or they are changing the design whenever a leak comes up.
Or it’s just a strategy for us (mere readers) to make such theories.
The ninjas have been dispatched.
@OldGamer999 Was thinking the same thing. Imagine Ninty went all in in making a fake mock up and spreading fake news, and DBrand helping out! We all can dream 😁
I'm going to lose my mind if they don't do a proper D-PAD!! Ahhh!!
“ It's bigger overall, but not much thicker.”
That’s what she said!
Gonna laugh if it’s like the OLED all over again and all these “leakers” (everyone and their grandma is apparently one with conflicting information) were wrong. They want the bait clicks.
Months and months without a single word about the new hardware. Of course that leak would happen.
@msvt They don’t do a proper D-Pad for the L Joy-Con because the Joy-Cons are made so you can also use them individually
May come off weird, but I don’t hate it, although I’m more adjusted to using the R Joy-Con when using them on their own
@MrCarlos46
I know, and I have several work-a-rounds. A good ol' Nintendo pride and joy D-Pad would do my heart good. The WiiU pro controller was great. Switch Lite had a nice one as well. Snes Switch controller is ok but street fighter made it squishy quick.
Oh, the Hori Zelda Dpad joy Con was actually kind of decent, but had to handheld mode only. All they need to do is offer a real Joy Con with D-Pad and that's what I'd ask for this time.
@msvt Maybe they will
Removed - inappropriate formatting
If it's real, then Dbrand almost certainly broke the NDA. If it's fake, they're lying to their customers. So either way, it's a very bad look for the company.
According to the measurements would it fit the Switch dock?
Maybe Nintendo is going to try to make more money by selling the Switch 2 dock separately, like the PS5 Pro disc drive? Some people would argue it’s not a Switch w/o the dock but those people already lost that argument as soon as Lite launched. But if Switch 2 works w/ the Switch dock I’d be ok w/ that. They could sell Switch 2 for $399 and the dock for $80 again or whatever.
Anyone know if there is also USB-C on the bottom to go along with the one on the top? If not, I see no reason we couldn’t just dock it upside down. Maybe that IS the reason for the USB-C port on top, the old Switch dock, and the Switch 2 dock has a newer type of port on the bottom, for some reason?
I hope this is incorrect information. It looks sooo boring! I don’t want a Switch with more power. I want something new and fun, within reason of not being a gimmick. I also want something that looks fun to look at. This looks bland.
Just maybe the switch 2= is actually just the switch pro that we never got and that’s why it does everything like the same as the switch.
