Re: Review: Super Mario Bros. Wonder - Nintendo Switch 2 Edition + Meetup In Bellabel Park - Inessential Bells & Whistles

Arawn93

Objectively this is the best version of the game. Objectively content wise it’s better than the original version which did score well. They didn’t delete any content from the old game like the old Yakuza ports.

Just the additional content wasn’t worth paying for the game again. Pretty sure most people would have took a free dedicated S2 upgrade of the original version without these minor additions.

Re: Nintendo Misses Out On Top 10 In Metacritic's 16th Annual Game Publisher Rankings

Arawn93

@BaldB3lper78 lol what? Nintendo has been dropping new games fairly often. Resting on laurels? You sure you don’t mean Sony? I hear more news about studios closing down from them then new games dropping.

Also this kind of ranking structure is actually more AGAINST publishers that releases a lot of games like Nintendo because all it takes is 1-2 mediocre games to tank the average and Nintendo usually does have a handful of mediocre games in their pile of good ones every year.

This rank structure benefits and caters to AAAs that release a small handful of blockbuster or an indie that drops an industry shattering game. I wouldn’t use this at all for “Nintendo needs to do better!” argument justifications lol.

Re: Nintendo Switch 2 System Update 22.0.0 Is Now Live, Here Are The Full Patch Notes

Arawn93

@EarthboundBenjy It impacts a lot of S1 games on handheld mode that was heavily downgraded compared to their TV mode counterpart.

Xenoblade 2 for example was one of the earlier infamous examples and one of the first games I’m gonna test later. Game was a blurry mess on handheld mode and was one of the top requests for getting a S2 version as a way to fix that.

Re: "I Need A Union Contract To Feel Safe" - Mega Man 11 Voice Actor Not Returning For Dual Override

Arawn93

Good on him for having the luxury to turn it down, but Capcom has a long list of replacements that would be willing to voice act without union contract stipulations because VA as a career is very cut throat if your not the Troy Bakers, Yuri Low and such.

Also Megaman 11 wasn’t exactly the most lucrative of voice acting gigs due to how largely absent the voice acting was to begin with so really he didn’t have much bargaining power to begin with.

Re: Several Mario Games Are Now On Sale On The Switch eShop For MAR10 Day (UK)

Arawn93

Why is people surprised Nintendo doesn’t fire sale 90% off like a random 3rd party on Steam? This is the same playerbase that bought MK8D full price years after it came out and that practices hasn’t changed with their evergreens especially Mario of all things.

Nintendo doesn’t like to artificially devalue their product when person A and B buys the game anyway regardless of internet clout as we saw $70-$80 still being bought this gen.

The only actual chance Nintendo will do sales more aggressively is if their evergreen software sales dip down badly. Good luck with that.

Re: Reminder: Resident Evil's Generation Pack Is Leaving The Switch 2 eShop This Month

Arawn93

@Discostew RE7 was a pure “back to roots” horror focused RE game first person where you play as a random person as opposed to an action man like Chris (the Chris mode doesn’t count) or Leon so it was a “fresh experience” compared to the previous action focused RE games.

RE Village was a bit more action and offered the option to go third person, but the game was still well regarded even by RE7 purists especially when you play as the same guy as the previous game so it felt like a natural continuation which is rare for RE sequels. It also expanded from “playing in a house to playing in a village” but still keeping enough of the horror focus from RE7.

RE Requium though Capcom decided to shake things up. They tried to do “bring the best of both worlds” of the people liked RE7 type Resident Evil and people that recently liked the remakes like RE4 which was action focused - but the good kind. So they literally did a split two protagonist model (again like the older games like RE2) where the new character Grace was for the people that enjoyed RE7 type first person horror focused Resident Evil while they bring back the most popular RE character Leon Kennedy to reflect the guilty pleasure third person power fantasy zombie slayer action man for those that loved RE4Remake recently.

Re: NieR:Automata "To Be Continued" As Sales Hit Another Milestone

Arawn93

@rvcolem1 Yeah but your chances are better if you have hot women in good games let’s be real. Why do you think gacha focuses primarily on hot women and/or handsome men? It’s part of the fantasy and lot of people don’t want to “look like themselves” because they have the rest of the day looking at the mirror to do that.

Replicant lost a lot of players compared to Automata because it didn’t have 2B in it. She was the main draw. Lot of successful games/series had hot women in them for decades. Laura Croft (original), Chun Li, Samus, etc.

As much as some people want to downplay fanservice - they bring results. XB2 for example is the Xenoblade with the most fanservice. It’s to this day still the most sold Xenoblade game. Pyra/Mythra are still the most popular Xenoblade characters as well where their fanart for instance dwarves everything else.

Atelier was in a downward spiral until Ryza trilogy came out because a lot of people came because of the thighs/butt. FE Awakening was saved because it chased an audience that likes fanservice since gameplay alone doesn’t get you big numbers.

Point is your not doing yourself any favors by going out of your way to avoid the “male gaze” or whatever nonsense. It didn’t help Concord, it didn’t help Highguard, etc. Marvel Rivals meanwhile embraced their target audience and know the male gamer fantasy of having cool/alpha male heroes and hot and strong appealing women heroes.

I’m not saying you CAN’T succeed without fanservice. It’s just gonna be a more uphill battle when you go from classic Fable trilogy to whatever nonsense that new Fable ugly is.

Re: Pokémon FireRed And LeafGreen Officially Revealed For Switch

Arawn93

@The_Nintendo_Expat

They already did with Diamond and Pearl regardless of how you personally feel about the game. It got a non lazy remake (they didn’t just port over the original) for $60.

People still complained unsurprisingly. You are never gonna please everyone lol. Fanbase is fickle as hell.

I’m convinced nobody is gonna be happy until Pokemon gets another coliseum game or something at this point.

Re: Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 2 Switch And Switch 2 Physical Version Download Requirements Revealed

Arawn93

GKC releases really is the worst thing Nintendo introduced for this gen. It would have been fine if games that had no chance to fill a cartridge would use them, but most 3rd parties are abusing it to save a little money and pass the burden on the consumer for a worse product format.

As a result I barely bought any 3rd parties on my S2 while my S1 has a bunch of 3rd party physicals. Now you see this funny thing where people buy S1 versions just to get an actual physical.

Re: Japanese Charts: Mario Kart World Can't Keep Code Vein II From The Top Spot

Arawn93

For reference that is a steep drop compared to the first Code Vein and it’s not a “physical is dying” when the game is flopping on Steam too.

Code Vein 2 unfortunately alienated fans (especially the Japanese fans that are very openly hating the game) of the first game by pursuing a sterile T rating toning down the violence and anime soulslike fanservice while not attracting anyone new along with other red flags this game had.

Bandai Namco needs to stop listening to Western sensibility consultant firms.

Re: Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds Fails To Meets Sega's Expectations

Arawn93

Did anyone not see this coming? This game wasn’t gonna remotely come close to MK World despite the pre-release glazing of Sonic and hating on MK World here that I remember all too well from certain users here.

Sonic could have a critic score of 100 and MK World a critic score of 0 and the latter would still sell better. Who cares what a critic/another person thinks if when YOU try the game it’s not appealing?

You got an IP that isn’t THAT popular despite being around for like 30 years and you have a kart racer with a bunch of guests and you thinks most of the kart audience is gonna come to you just for that?

As much as people cry about MKW’s price (which if you got from the bundle like most did it wasn’t even a bad deal) they don’t complain so much about what the actual game provides beyond the YouTube bait farmers that still try to insist MKW is dead because a certain thing they don’t like in online is present.

Re: Virtua Fighter 5 R.E.V.O. Lands March Release Date On Switch 2

Arawn93

Hah. People need to stop making excuses for Sega at this point. They will save every penny they can at the expense of the consumer that they will GKC release for an ancient game like VF5. A cart could fit that game in its most updated version easy even without a bigger cart release. To put things into context for those not too deep into the know for fighting games…VF5 dropped back in 2006. Before SFIV even dropped. Are you telling me a fighting game from 2006 can’t fit in a S2 cartridge? Is it bigger than Cyberpunk? Get out of here.

@roy130390 That is VF in a nutshell. The fighting game mechanics itself is solid, but it falls far below DoA and Tekken for interesting roster choices.

VF is the weakest in story for developing the characters as well which is why VF has the stigma for a “cardboard” roster. Which makes the roster largely forgettable if you’re not Akira, the Bryant siblings, or Pai mainly because they are used as guests the most.

The VF6 devs is claiming they are going to change that with the new game among the many things to make the game more accessible because VF has the negative stigma of being a boring overly technicial 3D fighter that couldn’t hold an audience outside of pocket regions.

Re: Scott Pilgrim EX Brings More Beat 'Em Up Action To Switch In "Early 2026"

Arawn93

Man wild people are still negatively harping on Knives like America is the center of universe for morale standards.

In Canada standards (the backdrop for this series) she is legally fine at 17 because age of consent has been reached. It’s irrelevant if your morale sensitivities finds that gross or not. In Canada’s perspective Scott dating Knives isn’t “gross” to the level of being criminally wrong.

Which was always a hypocritical perspective when Scott and Knives is 23 vs 17 meanwhile you got countless American couples with like 10+ age gaps with each other anyway.

Re: Hazelight Founder Josef Fares On EA: "Let's Be Honest, There's Not A Publisher In The World That Hasn't F****d Up"

Arawn93

Really wonder what fantasy world some of you live in where it’s a zero sum game where Nintendo is remotely in the same discussion as EA regarding this topic. That is just plain ignorant at this point and baiting responses (like what is happening here).

If the benchmark for “evil corporations” these days is heaven forbid: Trying to make money because shame on them there are no charity “passion project” videogames (good luck just for the upkeep costs alone if your Nintendo size) where everything is always 100% pro consumer and anti corporation like some one guy indie release that drops for free: You all living in a fantasy world and not applying common sense in reality.

The actual best way to go about it in an actual realistic way is obtain a fine balance between pro consumer and corporation so consumers are relatively happy and corporations can justify to sustain for the foreseeable future.

This is why not every videogame fan that claims just because they played videogames for 20+ years or whatever means they are remotely knowledgeable at how the industry work because it turns out playing Zelda doesn’t teach you jack about this.

Re: GameStop Kicks Off 2026 By Reportedly Shutting "Hundreds" Of Stores

Arawn93

Sucks. As previously mentioned…lot of people only have GameStop as their main game shop with where they live and online platforms like Amazon isn’t always ideal.

People here wanting them closed down as if it’s an immediate net benefit (It’s not. You are not getting something else instead with them closed down) don’t live in those situations because you have plenty of alternatives probably 5 min drive away.

That is not even counting hundreds of people losing their jobs that I’m not gonna cheer about like some people here.

Re: Nintendo Music's Latest Update Adds Mario & Luigi Switch Soundtrack, Includes 94 Songs

Arawn93

@Twilite9 Why? Not everyone uses BlueSky and for good reason tbh.

Whether you like it or not X is still the major social media platform and not nearly enough people made the switch to BlueSky to justify pretending X doesn’t exist.

Too many relevant people in the industry still post on X (especially Japanese developers) that if they made an important post on X I doubt NL will ignore it out of some vague sense or morale duty or whatever buzzword.

Re: Atlus Looks Forward To Persona's 30th Anniversary In 2026, Acknowledges Support For Persona 4 Revival

Arawn93

@ZombAid82 P4 would be the odd duck out at this point out if P3 and P5 have a modern Atlus JRPG look and P4 doesn’t. P1-P2 doesn’t exist in their rear view mirror before someone brings them up.

P4 is popular enough to justify it since it was the most popular Persona game before P5. P4 did the “give them a bunch of spin-offs” before P5 jumped on that train.

P4 at the end of a day was a PS2 game that came out decade+ ago. Golden added content/QoL, but visually was still a PS2 era game.

I get lot of people are impatient for P6, but people need to remember the gap of P4 and P5 dropping first.

Re: Switch 2's Mario Kart World Bundle Has Apparently Reached The End Of Its Lifecycle

Arawn93

No idea why people here are freaking out and going doom mode as if the bundle disappearing means S2 sales is gonna nose dive off a cliff.

These same people also thought the S2 was gonna underperform because “oh Steam deck” or “oh more expensive” or my personal favorite excuse “no games”. When in reality S2 is selling more then the S1 did ( considerably more) in the same timeframe.

It’s not new information that this was always a limited time bundle. It’s actually funny seeing how long this bundle stuck around if anything. Bundles having expiration dates isn’t new whether it’s PlayStation, Nintendo, etc.

This also doesn’t mean S2 won’t do another bundle anyway in the future. You know…like they already did with S1 that had multiple different bundles across its life.

Use some common sense people. If you want to do your daily hate on Nintendo then there is plenty to hate them for like GKC for instance.
