Re: Fire Emblem Shadows Makes Metacritic's "Worst Games Of 2025" List

Arawn93

@PikaPhantom considering the latter is practically the spiritual successor of Concord down to the tee of the social media accounts acting like entitled snobs at any remotely negative criticism I’m gonna put a dollar on Highguard. Nintendo EoS games typically last awhile. Certainly more than how fast Concord died.

Re: UK Charts: Metroid Prime 4 Falls From The Top Ten

Arawn93

No idea why people expected MP4 to sell amazing. The prime series (or hell most of the Metroid games that wasn’t Dread) was never that popular. It just was a beloved lower string Nintendo sub series of games. The whole reason Dread did amazing was because it was on the more popular 2D version (you know the genre that Metroid has half its name on) + people forgot it released/got heavily promoted with the OLED Switch 1 release.

That said this doesn’t mean MP4 flopped. From what I heard it had a decent launch for a Metroid game that wasn’t Dread. It just (as expected) not gonna have amazing legs because this isn’t exactly Mario Kart or Pokemon level of easy barrier of entry where it will have legs for literal years.

Re: Leon And Grace's Screen Time Will Be "Equally Split" In Resident Evil Requiem

Arawn93

Leon is THE anime protagonist of this series and at this point of the timeline it would be ridiculous to subject him to survival horror like he is back in Resident Evil 2 days. He should be a significant contrast compared to Grace who should stick to the survival aspect while Leon is backflipping, knife stabbing, running on walls, etc all over the zombies.

Re: The Game Awards GOTY For 2025 Is Clair Obscur: Expedition 33

Arawn93

@Max_the_German If we are gonna quantify indie by the amount of people that worked in the project then none of them would be considered indie games. You have to be a “REAL” indie project like Schedule 1 where a single person named Tyler made a very successful game in the wake of the latest AssCreed launch.

Re: The Game Awards GOTY For 2025 Is Clair Obscur: Expedition 33

Arawn93

@Axecon Why? E33 for all intent and purposes IS an indie game despite people sometimes forgetting since that game doesn’t look like a traditional indie game. E33 in general was a huge breakout title for the year and pushed the “turn based isn’t dead” message to the industry.

Re: Surprise! 'Skyrim Anniversary Edition' Lands On Switch 2 Today

Arawn93

I feel sorry for the earlier comments asking for Oblivion Remaster with how badly they botched this Skyrim port on S2. If they can’t even make a 60 FPS non input lag for this ancient game on much better hardware then the S1 then I have no hope they would do a remotely good job with an Oblivion port.

Re: Review: Octopath Traveler 0 (Switch 2) - A Bit Of A Retread, But Unmissable (And Enormous)

Arawn93

lol people complaining about games that has 100+ hours of content and that should be a negative should speak for themselves.

P5R for example has an average clear time of 100 hours+ for a single playthough and that game has been critically well received. There are plenty of other similar length rpg games where 100+ hour sinks are not a problem, but for this game (a RPG btw that were always the longer hour sink genre) it’s now all of a sudden a problem?

Not every game has to be a “8 hour clear and then never touch again” experience just because “Oh I only have enough time to play videogames 1 hour a day because I’m old with kids so why no cater to my lifestyle?”

More content > less content objectively. The people that enjoy a lot of content win. The people that enjoy small games just play as much as they want and could come back later. They get the luxury of a choice. The reverse can’t be said to anyone that payed money just to finish the game within a day and left wanting more when it’s a short 10 hour game.

I blame this generation of “less is more” minimalistic lifestyle where they try to convince themselves getting less is a good thing.

Also P.S: A single play-through of Triangle Strategy wasn’t close to 100 hours even if you took the longest route and aimed to unlock as much characters as possible.

I don’t care how slow your reading is or how much you took your time during the combat sequences unless you spent a grossly unnecessary time grinding and even that is a stretch. I get lot of people like to over-exaggerate about Triangle Strategy’s exposition size just because it has a lot of words compared to the average game, but it’s getting ridiculous at this point if that translates into a 100+ hour play though.

Re: Digital Foundry Dives Into Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition's "Big Downgrades" On Switch 2

Arawn93

@BaldB3lper78 It’s funny that they don’t do this whenever they review these same games on a Steam Deck which is a downgrade compared to someone playing it on a PS5 Pro. It’s always “Nintendo vs my PC rig” or “Nintendo vs PS5” which gives a laughably lop sided analysis.

Like no duh either frame performance, the graphics, or even both is gonna take a hit when you got a hybrid device compared to a a living room console.

Re: Nintendo Had No "Intention To Hinder Or Invalidate" Third-Party Docks For Switch 2

Arawn93

How is it Nintendo’s fault that not every 3rd party manufacturer was a 1:1 compatible with the Nintendo update? Of course crap is gonna be out-of-sync depending on what was changed. Have you ever seen a Steam Deck update? Crap stops working temporarily all the time with various 3rd party devices.

It’s not Nintendo’s responsibility to babysit all the manufacturer companies and make sure their crap still works after the update. That is on them (the 3rd parties) if anything to do their own updates to make sure it’s 1:1 again.

Anyone that actually believed Nintendo was intentionally sabotaging is stupid considering there were other 3rd party manufacturers that were not effected at all so logic dictates that whatever was changed was the variable difference between company A and company B. Not some Nintendo hater wet dream fantasy.

Re: Digital Foundry Covers The "Disappointing Tech" In Pokémon Legends: Z-A

Arawn93

@fenlix Plenty of games in the past and today opt with zero voiced dialogue. Often only allowing just random noises as an intentional design decision at most.

Did you also complain about this in Minecraft? Animal Crossing? It’s not some mandatory feature that you think it is. Several famous JRPG games don’t have voices either so that isn’t a “gotcha” either.

People can read (including the children that is the target audience) and somehow people enjoyed Pokemon games for two+ decades so far despite said lack of voices. It’s weird people are so hung up on voices on a series that was never known to add voices beyond Pokemon noises. It’s not gonna enhance the experience that Troy Baker is talking if people are still gonna whine about how the building looks weird or whatever.

Re: Digital Foundry Covers The "Disappointing Tech" In Pokémon Legends: Z-A

Arawn93

Seriously? Out of all things you want to complain about this game it’s “NPC doesn’t move around” as if that hasn’t been a thing for several Pokemon games in the series. It’s up there with “why no voice?” of complaints.

The “tech” is gonna always disappoint Dfoundry because compared to the latest PS5 cinema slop game, the latest Pokemon games is always gonna be “not up to par”.

Meanwhile in practical gaming aspect most of the people that bought the game don’t give a single care about “lol funny building” and pick apart every little defect in a game.
One that is because that is a miserable way to play videogames if you’re that obsessed on focusing on just the flaws like your a content creator trying to fish donations from your funny negative reactions.

Two it’s greatly overshadowed by the actual positives the game has which said “critics” barely talk about (if at all) because it’s easy to jump on the bandwagon.

Re: Switch 2 Sells Over 10 Million Units, Nintendo Increases Forecast Even Further

Arawn93

Ok laughing that there are people here who unironically think that it’s a GOOD IDEA to throw in the trash what has been working for two generations so far for Nintendo in favor of copying Microsoft. Gamepass and multiplatform releases is the quickest way to tank Nintendo lmao.

Nintendo makes their money from profit per unit hardware sales, profit large quantity exclusive software sales you legally can’t buy anywhere else, their online gaming tier subscription system, and of course Eshop naturally not giving cuts to anybody else Ala “if Mario was on Steam”.

Case in point that gamers should maybe stick to gaming and not business ideas just because they like the idea personally of paying a subscription for “free” Nintendo games.

What “works” (which is debatable) for MS doesn’t automatically work for Nintendo. Hell considering MS has reached the point of even giving their new exclusives to their direct competitor Sony shows how much MS has fallen over the years. You don’t do that if your previous business models were working because there is zero incentive to benefit the competition.

Some people need to understand the saying “don’t fix what isn’t broken” especially if your doing BETTER then the prior generation so far by NOT doing dumb ideas like follow MS.

Also PS2 stopped being in the cards to be passed by S1 the moment you have Sony execs pulling new numbers out of their ass decades later purely out of pettiness so don’t blame dumb reasons for why S1 can’t pass PS2 at this point.

Re: "Go Tell Nintendo" - Ex-Blizzard President Responds After Xbox Calls Exclusives "Antiquated"

Arawn93

Exclusives worked out for Nintendo in the way it didn’t for Sony and especially MS. There is a reason why they are the last “hold out” when both their hardware and softwares sell well in tandem when it’s a significant selling point that popular Nintendo games must be played on Nintendo platforms.

Like what incentive do they have to to drop their games on Steam where Valve would benefit more from this then Nintendo? As a result your hardware sales nosedive and value takes a chunk of your sales away from each copy sold instead of being bought on your Eshop .

Nintendo isn’t Sony/MS where they are that desperate to push more software units even if it’s at greater loss. Nintendo can push eight figure+ sales on one platform.

Re: Poll: What Review Score Would You Give Pokémon Legends: Z-A?

Arawn93

8.5 would be a safe range. I’m not gonna dock almost half the points because I can’t explore mostly empty plains, complaining about graphics of all things in Pokemon, and especially a non-issue like no voices in a series known for largely not doing voices for decades (When was this ever all of a sudden a Pokemon exclusive complaint? Ton of games chose to do no voices as a stylistic choice and gamers were fine with it for years. I didn’t hear gamers cry about Minecraft being silent for starters. Tons of games from indie to high end opted out for voices for one reason or another).

All I care about is the performance actually being good on the S2 unlike most prior Pokemon titles, the battle system finally evolving for the better (I laugh that people call it “button mashy” then I guess every RPG that isn’t menu turn based is that too like Xenoblade then) , it’s still a good monster collector, and the various QoL this game introduced.

Also people bringing up games like the new Digimon game as a “gotcha” that game was considered largely mid as a monster collector game just like back when Cyber Sleuth released. It has plenty of its own issues as well as someone that played it.

Re: Review: Persona 3 Reload (Switch 2) - A Great Remake, But Still Not Definitive

Arawn93

@Alexface No. that is a separate $30 purchase still despite this game dropping over a year ago. Atlus cut as much corners as they could with this port while trying to milk as much as they can from Persona fans. You’re looking at $90+ for a complete version of the game despite being a late port. This S2 port was an easy skip for me at least with its current asking price.

Re: Samus' Game Boy Outing Metroid II Returns In Latest Nintendo Music Update

Arawn93

It’s obvious not every update is gonna be a “home run” but Nintendo Music at this point has several good additions at this point and tbh a nice companion app for my actual music app + music stream app for the Nintendo catalogue.

Would be nice if Xenoblade gets added eventually, but been enjoying the increased Fire Emblem presence since launch.

Re: Atlus To Address Persona 3 Reload's Switch 2 Frame Rate Hiccups In "Future Patches"

Arawn93

lol so not only is it a botched rushed GKC release that they won’t even attempt a very doable 60 FPS (S2 specs + actual optimization has already achieved this on more taxing games) , but they won’t even refine said botched release by release time (“We will fix it eventually guys so please pay $60 for game, $30 for the dlc, and tip thank you~”) and expect you to pay full price all the same?

Shame Atlus is so bad now with their Nintendo releases. It was already ominous the moment they said Episode Aigis won’t be included with the release despite P3R being well over a year old at this point.

Seriously they are gonna lose out on a lot of double dippers that had no issue buying P5R, P4G, and P3P on S1.

It just got more lazy and smells of being heavily monitized despite it. Since it’s Sega your better off waiting for a DEEP sale (like in the other platforms since you can get P3R + episode Aigis significantly cheaper then what S2 port is asking for) if you REALLY want to play this on S2 that badly. Paying $90+ for a crap late port that blatantly took many shortcuts at the expense of the consumer isn’t the way.

Re: Feature: "We Have Absolutely No Intention Of Neglecting Her" - Persona 3 Reload Devs On FeMC And Porting To Switch 2

Arawn93

Who are they trying to fool with that usual PR excuse? Rush to release? Are you kidding? Do they not realize that P3R has already been out for over a year on other platforms? That ship has sailed already.

The bulk of the work is already done since this is a porting job. Feels lazy just so they can cash in on early adopter S2 users instead of actually optimizing the game.

If this port is gonna be intentionally gimped (especially when the whole selling point of S2 versions is they are more properly optimized compared to PC versions) then I’ll just stick with playing on Steam deck instead of double dipping.

Game key cart port though so no big loss on shipping

Re: Review: Pokémon Legends: Z-A - Nintendo Switch 2 Edition - Stellar Battles, But A Step Down From Arceus

Arawn93

@QuanLoh How would comparing it to Cyberpunk (a completely different style of game + ironically on launch the game was absolutely terrible if we are doing a 1:1 situation thing) be a more valid style of review? A game should be reviewed based on their own merits. Nothing more nothing less.

That is cool you think the game should be rated low even if I think that is a tad doomer, but I feel that is largely downplaying the positives this game delivered and hand waving all the requests people asked for in this game (battle innovation, good performance, etc).
